As for the Farmer impulse being $3.99, it could be a TRU & Lego Store exclusive like the other Farm sets, and those tend to have a higher price as it is.
All the Impulse sets shown were $4, including the two Castle ones.

The second series....

For $2 LEGO better be planning on making a lot of these.

I never sleep! :) Anyways just wanted to add that those are the prims and they will be different. I do like how the skier has ski poles.

nice, series 2 has a few good ones... I like the Dracula guy the most.

I could see getting multiples of the spartan dude and the egyptians. Maybe make a pyramid to go with it.

At $2 apiece I am certainly sold on these, and will probably end up just buying a box or 2 to try to complete the set and hopefully get some good extras as well. Unless they make just a ton of these I can see these getting bought up real quick and costing a ton on Amazon/ebay and I do not want to go that route.
Drac is great, I like the witch and mime also. What is with the Baywatch one though?

Amazon has the new Lego Fire Station set for $71.40. Since my TRU has a huge markup on the bigger sets, this is almost like PM of the ad this week. :p

Amazon has a huge mark up to.

I love the skier, I think that is oddly my favorite. I'm a huge city fan and the skis are OK, but the poles and the winter hat is awesome!

Also the $28 set from KMart was $40 today.
well it seems that by the pics they look fine. colors look good.

I don't know if I'd say to hell with them.

If they stay at $2, it'll sell like hotcakes... I'd be more worried that they are so cheap that hoarders will buy them alllll up.
$2 a piece is tempting for anyone to buy a bunch of these minifigs and it's inevitable that resellers will be all over this.

BUT...

If LEGO makes a bunch of them it won't be as profitable for resellers if they're stuck with a bunch of the commons and that's assuming LEGO makes a smaller production of some of them. These packs will definitely be good for minifig parts and accessories. I can see bricklink being flooded with these packs broken down.

This is something we've never seen before from Lego, so it's all speculation. My worry, though, is that if the first series only has a production run of a couple months, then it'll be hard to ever find these at retail. I know if I see a case, I'm buying the whole thing (and not to resell). And I'm sure there's plenty like me.

Hopefully Lego mass produces the crap out of these so that I can sleep better at night.

well the first run isn't till June... hopefully Target gets in on this hotcakes.

else, the 2nd series isn't till Sept, which really is only 3 months.

This could be hotter than SW.. if marketed right.

I'm going to be pist if I won't be able to buy any.

My best bet is to just order them from Shop @ Home.... pay the shipping, and try to find a 5 off 25 code somewhere.
did she think she ordered the entire set?

And amazon will most likely side with her :(
Yep, pretty much. She demanded I send her the landspeeder even though I stated minifigs only, and manual, box, landspeeder, etc. not included. I haven't heard back from amazon yet.

If anybody's looking for a Troll Assault Wagon, there's one on ebay for $20 with free shipping, which is pretty much the retail price minus taxes, etc. I haven't seen it at the stores in a while and it's not available on the lego website. Type in "xbox 360" on bing to get 8% cashback and make it a little better.

edit: nevermind, I guess it's all sold out.

The relevant question is whether Amazon allows you to sell partial items. I don't sell there so I don't know the answer.

A shwag from Toy Fair (not mine, just for reference):

I haven't found any pics of the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows playsets: Dobby Release, Quidditch Lesson, Hagrid's Hut, the Burrows, Hogwarts Express and Hogwarts Castle. I might be interested in the train and castle.

I love that they have a "Mexican." Helloooooo offensive ethnic stereotype!

Also, I'm kind of surprised they have a "Disco Stu." Seems like the Fox lawyers will be all over them for the Simpsons copyright infringement. At least they had the sense to give generic names to the Britney Spears and Pamela Anderson circa Baywatch figs. And they don't even mention the Spartan by name.

I'm going to be buying those little bastards until I get a mexican and a weightlifter. Then I'm going to build a set with a couple rusty cars in a vacant lot where they'll go to lift weights. I'll have to dig out an old castle set to complete the cinderblock weight bench.

Few things to point out...

5508 LEGO Deluxe Brick Box has 700 pieces and going for $50... WTF, I was able to pick up a box of 600 for 30 just this past year, it didn't have a bucket... is that why?

2824 Advent Calendar seems like fewer piece count?

4842 Hogwarts Castle 1200 pieces, $130 ouch. I think I may want it, sell the figures.

8076 Deep Sea Striker is cool.. . I do like the "monsters" in Atlantis. Very "Creator" feeling but fits the theme nicely.

Kingdoms sets.. what are they at now ? IV or III are shaping up to be nice. The wizard will sell like hotcakes and I'll buy up a few. I like the maxi-impulse sets for $7... seems like they used to not have one at that price point. I think Lego could benifit with more $7 and $12 sets than sets at $40 or even a few at $60/$100.

I remember when buckets were $20 for 1000 pieces, it was only like 5 years ago tops.

The Advent Calendar has 230ish pieces (about normal) and is $35 now! Stupid LEGO. I hope borders has the Castle one and a 40% off coupon again. :D

My problem with LEGO is they are insanely mis-priced. The Impulse sets are $4 for 16 pieces, these special minifigures will be half that and for $7 you get a lot more pieces and two guys! Castle sets have always had a good amount of smaller sets, more so the first year of a new theme. I pretty much only buy $5 to $13 sets now because I don't have the money and my favorite part are the minifigures.

Saw Galactic Enforcer for $68 on clearance @walmart. also bionicle thoranus something or other for $40. The enforcer has 800+ pieces, but not too interested in those parts or the model itself.

my local one has it for $49. they had 2 left. don't know if it will lower.

I picked one up and returned the $73 I thought was a good deal at a different store.

seems like Walmarts are clearencing at different rates and what too, because I can go 30 miles and the GE is still $90. :(

Yeah Walmart is so YMMV. I think $68 is the lowest my store will go. Their last batch of Lego clearance items were "only" $20 drops from MSRP and those were gone within two weeks.

That's been my experience too. Each Walmart is different. And these past few years the stores have kept inventory so low that when a clearance does start, there's only a couple copies of the sets.

I did find a deal or two this post-Christmas at Walmart (and Target), but nothing like past years.

ALL as in Star Wars included? If that's the case, I'm going to grab 2 Republic Swamp Speeders and use my $5 off birthday coupon!

It was worded ALL, and I didn't see any exclusion listed. I have yet to see the physical ad yet though.

I was just at my local TRU and all the sets that were on sale this week were sold out. :p

I have a funny feeling the same will happen with this sale with the remaining sets.

I thought this was a summer set...the only new "speeder" I know of is that Freeco speeder.

Edit: I guess it is out as S@H has it on backorder. I just haven't been to a TRU since a little after xmas and we all know what they look like then. Haven't seen this at Target or Walmart though.

Does TRU carry the Landspeeder set too, or is that a Walmart exclusive?

Edit again: Just got back from the local Target and they put out the Easter mini-sets... $3 Policeman on a little boat, $3 Fireman on a little truck, and $3.50 SW X-Wing and Republic Attack Shuttle.

8092 Luke's Landspeeder - Walmart Exclusive

Both are ripoffs. :)

For those in the LA area...Things From Another World at Universal Citywalk are having a "Buy one get one 50% off" sale till the end of the month. This includes all of their LEGO stuff.

Some of their LEGO prices might be a bit higher than other stores (or the same as Toys R Us :p )

Don't sell incomplete items on Amazon. They took the money out of my account and the buyer doesn't have to return the minifigs to me. Hard lesson learned... At least it wasn't a big ticket item.

Amazon taking the money out isn't surprising as they don't have an option to sell incomplete items, but only used and new.

What is surprising is that the buyer doesn't have to return it. In all honesty I think the buyer was well aware that only the minifig is included. Yet, she probably knew Amazon's policy and figured a free minifig is in order.

Eh, that's just a matter of opinion. I missed out on the previous release of the Landspeeder, so the new one is a great addition!

I love lego pieces... the whole concept of being able to create something with just these blocks given...

Its actually quite symbolic on many levels - Helps improve creativity and the implementation of these ideas! Great learning tool! I think everyone should jump on the lego train! WoopWoop!

:bouncy:

Yeah, who knows. I sent her an email kindly asked her to return the minifigs for me, I will also pay for return shipping. If she doesn't reply or doesn't return them, I can threaten to file for mail fraud for essentially stealing them since she got her refund.

I don't think I'll be selling anything on Amazon anymore... It's too risky and it seems like Amazon sides with the buyer 100% of the time from what I've read.

Wow, that totally sucks. I always get nervous, because what if a scumbag/customer lies, Amazon would side with them, and you would be out of luck. Hope you get the minifigs back!

should just be illegal to list incomplete stuff on Amazon. They just don't categorize it like that... and Amazon's gurarentee will always side with the customer.

Mail fraud may not get far, unless you're really adament in contacting the buyer's Police dept, and they usually aren't very motivated.

There is no mail fraud of wrongdoing of any kind if Amazon told her she could keep them.

Color me surprised... She sent them back to me on Friday so maybe I'll see them sometime this week.

edit: I got the minifigs back today. Thanks for your vote of confidence BigDaddy

:hot:

well that would be great. They should technically return it. Just surprised they don't wait till the item is returned via tracking to send the money back. Amazon should just hold the money, like an escrow service.

Lego Police Truck is back in stock @Amazon.com at the S@H price of $44.99. If you couldn't get a deal on it before and were still interested, the no tax/free shipping might help there. Police HQ is also still available @Amazon.com at the S@H price of $89.99. My local TRU actually prices the Police Truck at an absolutely ridiculous $80.99!

Borders has some 2010 sets. They have the Snow Speeder ($25 Star Wars set) or whatever it's called and something else. So if you have a 30% coupon that's probably the best price you will ever find on it.

Sorry to go off topic, but what is everyone's thoughts on 7199 Temple of Doom? I really thought I wanted it, so my Mrs bought it at full price for my birthday at Target over the weekend. Now, I look at the back of it, and it is 37 inches long!! It's over half the length of my desk (which is where I would store it). I see myself building it, playing with it for 1/2 day, then it gets demolished and dumped into the kids' lego bin. If that's the case, I have other things I can burn $90 on.
