Let's talk about Comic Books (And read some inside)

Young avengers was...interesting. You think you know who everyone is, and why/how they have thier powers...but your wrong (at least on one account this issue). I love it.

Only an hour till I can go get comics. I'm so excited for JLA and OMAC! I can't imagine how excited I'll be in 2 weeks when the Crisis finally begins.

If you buy Superman, Batman or Catwoman read thse first. Then read Omac. Then read Infinite Crisis #0, i mean, JLA #119. It really is the beggining of the end.

Also, the DC Showcase (like marvel essential) green lantern and Superman books came out today at $9.99 for 500 pages. I'm buying both.

also also (brain is working on too many things at once) if you are buying or have bought the Identity Crisis Hardcover, go to bradmeltzer.com and send in your reciept to get Brad's Green Arrow TPB for free.

This is so handy having you to tell me what to get and what to read in what order. I never would have picked up the sacrifice storyline if you hadn't warned me of its tie-in to OMAC. Now I'm glad to know I should read JLA last cause I probably would have read it first if I hadn't known any better.

Hey...Its my job :)

If your really interested in everything, the next cat-woman should be interesting, batman and catwoman have a little chat about something you may pick up on reading JLA/Omac (cant remember which...)

MINOR SPOILERS?

YES! I saw that and I was like, holy shit, they're REALLY going far back with this. Not to mention how Psycho Pirate has popped up in JSA Classified all of a sudden now talk about world's dying... Crisis on Infinite Earths anyone?

Oh and it was JLA that the incident happened in.

I also picked up and looked at, but didn't buy, the new Catwoman that came out this week and saw Batman pop in and tell Catwoman that "they needed to talk". I figured the next line might be "its not you its me" and he was gonna dump her ass but apparently its setting up quite a heavy conversation for the next issue of Catwoman.

Oh, and all I have to say about JLA #119, "wait... you're..."... YEAH, its on like Donkey Kong bitch!

Just got done reading Omac#6, the house of M wolverine, and New Avengers#11(ronin part 1) I was pleansently suprised by the Wolverine house of M, Omac was good as usual, and New Avengers is entertaining

Back when i read comics on a reg basis, I was really really into WetWorks. I got out of comics because it became a fucking hassle to stick with one storyline in one series. I felt it was god damn retarded for-as ex-a story line for batman continue in an issue with superman...

Need to catch up on this thread. Long time no read (but more reading of the comics and playing of the games). I've read a whole slew of comics as of late. Will be back to post them after I catch up on some other stuff on the site.

Yeah JLA #119 just leaves you hanging. Kind of glad to see all the mini- series ending right now. 4 less titles to buy with villians, days, omac, and rann-thanagar over.

Man I can't believe Johns Flash run is over. Flash & Johns are 2 of the main reasons I was able to get back into comics after a long break from the scene.
There will be a "special" for each of those minis during IC as well
Yeah I read about the 1 shot for each series the other day. Doesn't surprise me for how well they sold. The whole thing is starting to spill out of control a bit though. At Identity Crisis last summer only had a few select tie ins. Now it seems there are 3+ a week. I feel sorry for the poor broke collectors trying to follow DC and Marvel crossovers. Myself I stay clear of Marvel except for the Ulimates, Ulitmate Spiderman, and Astonishing trades. I can't stand Marvel books being constantly late....

Ok so Diamond comics updated their shipping list this afternoon like usual, and there's a problem. A very big problem.

Infinite Crisis #1 is not listed as one of the titles shipping next week (Oct. 12). I suppose it could be an oversight and will show up next monday but if it got delayed I'm not sure what I'm gonna do.
...that would be bad...ive told all my customers that its coming in then, after hyping up JLA 119 all week as Infinte Crisis #0 .
I'm trying to stay positive and just assume its an oversight/screwup on behalf of Diamond. I know their advance shipping order is never firm until the week of shipping though. This week was a good example, last monday when I checked the list for this week there was only 1 book I was planning on picking up, now this week, there's 6...

Talk about a major screw up. Personally late books piss me off to no end. I only by DC Comics nowadays and when the website has different dates then what shows up it drives me crazy. Secret War is the whole reason I swore off Marvel comics again. They are lucky they get my money for a handful of trades nowadays...

Did anyone else pick up GREEN LANTERN CORPS: RECHARGE? I have to say it was a great read. I am glad to see they are doing something with Guy and Kyle. I was worried they would hang them out to dry.
Would anyone know where I can see the • Wizard Top 100 TPB's • listed anywhere?
I cant find a listing online either, but did you have a specific question? Or can you wait till later today i'll try and type it up myself (just grabbed a copy from the back room)

I'm in a comic book fix at the moment (Dam wizard world Chicago) that
I want to collect and read some trades (I like them because they
look pretty on my bookshelf). Thanks ahead if you can get me some
of that info :).

Ok, Return of Donna Troy this week had MAJOR Crisis on Infinite Earths connections. That coupled with Psycho Pirate in JSA Classified #3 leads me to believe that Infinite Crisis DOES indeed have a major connection to Crisis on Infinite Earths, despite everything that DC had been saying up until this point.

To me, CoIE has already lost its impact. With the development of Hypertime in The Kingdom (sequel to Kingdom Come), theoretically all potential realities exist so there's no way to completely destroy any one reality or be able to adversely affect any alternate dimensions (Earth-2, Alternate Earth, etc.).
You can check out IGN's top graphic novels/TPBs on their site.
I checked it out but I would like to see wizards top 100 :).

Didnt bring that Wizard thing home with me...oops. I'll see what i can do later.

Also, Infinite Crisis is a sequel to CoiE...they've admited that already

Can anyone recommend me some Horror Comics that are out right now? I just read Spookhouse vols 1 and 2 and I enjoyed both of them.

But weren't they originally saying that Infinite Crisis would be completely independent of CoIE?
But weren't they originally saying that Infinite Crisis would be completely independent of CoIE?
I think IC is an independent event of CoIE but it will tied together through Hypertime. It's just that the idea of Hypertime (mentioned in The Kingdom which I believe has been made canon) basically negates any meaning to any past/present/future event as it makes all reality possible - ie. there is a multiverse vs. a singular DCU with multiple dimensions that can affect each other. Even if Supergirl died during CoIE, there's a high probability that she still exists in an alternate universe (which is where you get present day SG as well as possibly explain the enigma that is Power Girl). It also negates Hal Jordan's attempt at restarting the universe (as Parallax) cuz even if he destroyed the universe to do it, it would still be his own, there would still be an infinite number of universes existing that he didn't know about. It also negates Sue Dibny's death as she still 'exists' in another universe. It also negates continuity in general in the DCU, including the various reboots of the main storylines since Hypertime says they all are able to exist in canon.

Everyone do yourself a favor, next time your in a comic shop, plunk down $2 for Fell Issue 1 or 2 (or both for $4!). Great fucking read and each issue is %99 self contained (main ideas get passed through, but there is a smaller story each ish).

Its by Warren Ellis and Ben Templesmith (30 days of night guy...but a bit more contained so its a bit more normal...thats a good thing)
Can anyone recommend me some Horror Comics that are out right now? I just read Spookhouse vols 1 and 2 and I enjoyed both of them.
Personally I don't read many horror comics. However I make a exception for The Walking Dead. Its one of the best reads out there. With it being a horror comic and only in Black & white I had a hard time giving it a chance even with the reviews. Once I read the first trade I was hooked and now I can't wait for the 4th trade...

It seems as soon as Geoff Johns run is done on a book I drop it. The latest JSA was horrible and I realized it wasn't Johns and he isn't listed for the title anymore. I dropped Teen Titans and Flash as soon as he left as well.
Has anyone read this book, Maus: A Survivor's Tale (its number #1 on wizards top 100 tpb)?
Yeah, basically its a retelling of the holocaust. The difference is that the jews are mice and the nazis are cats. Its been quite a while since I've read it but from what I remember it was really good.

Really good, and really depressing...as it should be. If you want another part of that whole clusterfuck, read Barefoot Gin (manga) about before/during/after the bomb at Heroshima.
Chamagne is only a few issue fill in, so keep an eye out for Johns to be back.

And yeah, that last issue of Flash sucked hard.
Chamagne is writing it through the end of the year #80 and there is no word on whether Johns is coming back from what I read. After DC annouced his new duties I just don't see him able to tackle much more. Plus you know the weekly 52 will suck the life out of him along with the rest of the crew.

From lookin at the info for the rest of the year Johns will be working on the following...

Crisis
GL
JSA Classifed through #5
GL Corps mini with Gibbons
Teen Titans again starting on 29

Most anything written by Steve Niles.

So any opinions on "52"? It's such a huge undertaking, and I hope DC can pull it off well. I just wonder about the possibilities of delays, and also the price of each issue. But they definitely have me interested.

They recently just changed how stores could order DC books to better fit 52, and other "hot" books. They have a good plan so far. It also helps that they've already been working on it for a while.

Going to sell some of my recent series. Anyone interested in the complete runs of Days of V and Omac Project. I will sell the 12 issues for cover + shipping. PM if you are interested.

Well I went to my first comic book convention this weekend. Fallcon, it wasn't exactly huge or anything but I did see some comic shops there that were from as far away as Kansas City and Chicago. In fact, the comic shop chain that I went to when I was in Chicago two weeks ago, Graham Cracker Comics, was there.

I brought exactly $52 and left with no money in my pocket:

Admission-$8 (well it was supposed to be $9 but it was $1 off with a food shelf donation, my donation? SPAM!)
Villians United #1 1stprinting- $5
Batman #635 (1st appearance Red Hood, couldn't find it at any local shops)-$8
Fray #1 (Joss Whedon on the brain since Serenity)-$1
Bootleg DVD complete series of Exosquad-$30 (I was absolutely giddy when I found this)

bread's done
