Let's talk about Comic Books (And read some inside)

Most annoying thing this week (retailer side): Seeing that Marvel Knights spider-man was a T+ book, while the Friendly Spidey book was all gaes...nice way to mix it up for the parents!

I'm still pissed about that book. Seriously, it was the SAME fuckING STORY as last week, the only difference this time is that it was told from MJ's point of view. IT probably wouldn't have been quite as bad if it weren't for the fact that they left us with the same fucking cliffhanger as the week before. Come on, if this whole "The Others" storyline is gonna be like this with nothing really happening in 2 books so far, I'm not sure if I want to read it.

Once that last issue ships I will NEVER buy another book by Gabriel Dell'Otto again. He makes Joe Madureira look speedy. It looks like House of M will finish before Secret War. Just pathetic.
 
Yes, I have to agree that was probably the best New Avengers issue since the first storyline. I was very happy with that, other issues, not so much.

As far as "The Others" goes? I'm still on the fence, they implied it in the last issue that he had a terminal disease but then in the recap at the beginning of this issue they just flat out say it. But what bothered me through the whole issue is how dodgy they're being about it, WTF kind of disease is it? I think I'll stay on board but I'm still not happy about it.

JLA was kind of lame. I did like the whole thing of trying to convert Nightwing simply because I'm hoping that its just a preview of what's to come.

JSA Classified was a real let down. The general idea behind it was interesting but it was way to drawn out.
 
Well I read Sonic The Hedgehog. The comic has been bad since #75 IMO. I have finally decided to not buy the comic anymore. But it is a bit sad that some stores are replacing the comic with the Sonic X comic, like the stores in my area.

Personally, I think it should have come out the same week as Infinite Crisis #1. I mean the end to JSA Classified #4 is essentially the same story we got about the end of Return of Donna Troy, that's why it was mostly a let down to me.
 
Btw, on a semi-related note, have any of your local comic shops gotten in the Mezco Hellboy or Goon figures? My local store hasn't gotten them yet. Just wondering.
 
...i tried responding to the Captain Atom thing but CAG was crappy earlier. Short version: alightly above average, ties into both DC/Wildstorm, intrigue about impending bad crap on Wildstorms side main reason to read title.

Stephen King part:
I have not read Dark Tower. Probably never will. Have read maybe 2 Stephen King books, and partway through many others. Not a real big fan.

That being said, i think its great. ANYTHING right now that even hints at comics/graphic novels as being more than dork fodder is great.
 
I read the latest issue of JLA and was impressed with it. The JLA is really gotten to big for their britches and Green Arrow is sure an @$$hole. He sure has it in for Batman. He goes so far as to recruit Nightwing to get at him. I was pleased to see that Nightwing saw it for what it was: taking a shot at Batman. Nightwing even takes a shot at Green Arrow. I don't know about you, but I think Ollie should have stayed dead.

Adventures of Superman latest issue was: Meh. The one thing that I can come away with this is that many people will be confused because their are 2 Luthors. You really need to have collected Villains United to kind of understand what is going on here (VU awesome read).

JSA Classified #4 was great. It delves into why PowerGirl feels so out of place. I don't know if this title is for those readers who came in after the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, but for those who have been there since then, HOO-BOY! I loved it! No real resolution in the end, just the "Continued in Infinite Crisis #2."
 
Not me! Ive really only been deeply involved with Comics for the last 3 years...oddly enough thats the lenght ive worked at the comic shop. I did read the Death of Superman series while my mom did her grocery shopping at Krogers....

Man, I am old. I picked up the Death of Superman when I took my first teaching job when I got out of college.
 
House of M #8, wow, just wow. I can't believe how freakin good the ending was. No action to speak of but I was on the edge of my seat reading it.


SPOILER ALERT


So Magneto's depowered, along with various students, Wanda Maximoff (although this is questionable), and Iceman. I mean you've got two very prominent mutants gone now, Magneto and Iceman were literally some of the first mutants going all the way back to X-men #1. That part with Spider-man not wanting to remember was tough, probably one of the most emotional parts of the entire House of M storyline. Wolverine remembers!?!?!?!? Holy shit, that's massive, but how did it happen, is he depowered? Probably not cause otherwise the adamantium bonding would have killed him right away. This should be interesting. Ummm, so is Hawkeye back again, or what's the deal there. Xavier's gone, just gone. Depowered? Dead? Who knows? Apparently Decimation isn't saying much either yet... OH and WTF is that ending!?!?!?!? Methinks Dr. Strange has a slight notion of what might happen and that's why he's so damn terrified. They managed to cram so much stuff into the final that really makes me think that Decimation is gonna be amazing.

That wasn't the only book I read this week, BTW. Superman 223 was pretty good but it absolutely pisses me off that its quite obviously set after the current storyline in Supergirl. Way to go with the delays guys? I thought Marvel was the one that got the bad wrap for delays but DC's been pretty bad themselves lately.

Ultimate Spidey, thank god that storyline's over. Even though the last two issues of the storyline were awesome, the rest of the storyline was just a total drag to read through. I hope the next story arc picks things up. Also, Ultimate Deadpool is coming soon!!!!!

Am I the only one that thinks X-Men Colossus Bloodline is gonna have some really lame, odd ending where your just sitting there thinking why did i read this?

Comic of the week (for me): Marvel Team-Up guest staring Invincible. Very well done, and seeing how well spidey and Invincible get along was pretty cool.

Actually, what I don't get is how Bizarro and Batzarro ended up in the "Batman Beyond" timeline and the "Red Son" Superman Elseworld in the recent Superman/Batman book.

Yeah... what is the deal with the Ben Reily varient? That has me quite interested. They need to pick up the pace on The Others pretty soon here though.

...yeah, that is a problem...going back to Hypertime and other Post-1985 Crisis fixes. Hell, Elseworlds is technically another universe...From what eve read, it (as well as everything else) will make sense after THIS Crisis
 
I have a request. What is the best order for reading House of M? Meaning, how do the limited series and issues in ongoing books chronologically fit in between issues of House of M? I have Pulse 10 and newspaper special edition, Black Panther 7, Hulk 83-86, FF:HoM 1-3, New Thunderbolts 11, Uncanny X-Men 462-465, Exiles 69-71, Wolverine 33-35 and Spider-Man: HoM 1-3. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
...damn...good question. Most of it really just needs to be read before #7...but there didnt seem to be any order to it. Captain America is probably the best to read first...its just gives enough of a time line to it that it makes more sense

Hypertime negated that, according to the end of the Kingdom Come sequel - The Kingdom. Plus, if you read The Kingdom, you get to find out something interesting about a certain Superman & a certain Wonder Woman.
 
Nigel, you're saying to read Captain America 10 before the entire series, correct? WeaponX, Wolverine 33-35 before HoM 3, right?

Well, kind of. I mean at the end of House of M #1, Peter wakes up in bed (with a full head of hair) next to Gwen Stacy. So, if you want to get real technical, the Spidey: HoM storyline has to take place before House of M #1.

Maybe I'll split Spidey: HoM w/HoM 1.:) I just wish Marvel would have done some type of timeline for all of the tie-ins. That's what continuity editors are for.

Someone told me the 4 issue Hulk storyline basically took place on the other side of the planet and had very minimal tie-in to HoM. Can anyone else confirm this? I would assume the Exiles 3 issue arc would only be loosely connected as well.

Yeah, the Hulk storyline basically explained what was going on in Australia during House of M, what was interesting is that it had some dead characters involved with it such as Pyro and Exxodus (he's dead in 616 isn't he?).

Exodus is alive, Mojo has him? or Mojo had him and freed him? New Excalibur will maybe deal with that.

Yeah I went on www.uncannyxmen.net and all it said on there was that he was sucked into a black hole but didn't say anything about him being dead. Either way, he hasn't been seen in a while.
 
It looks like Peter Parker gets his memory restored in HoM 5. Can anybody tell me how Spider-Man: HoM 1-5 fits around this? Should I read it all before HoM 5? Thanks.
