I'm honestly surprised that Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Steelbook Edition Nintendo Switch is still available on LRG .. thought it would be extinct by now.. still glad to have my order in at least

I am too... I was shocked it didn't all sell out right away. I'm honestly thinking either there's something up with the quantity or (more likely), there being an annoucnement that there'd be a standard edition I think the same day might have hampered people's desire for a LRG release.

The standard edition was already announced prior to this--Amazon and GameStop have had listings up for a few months.

It is a weird choice to print more copies of the Switch version even though Switch version normally sell more. Main issue is Cold Steel 1 and 2 are not available on Switch, so many people are still on PlayStation for the series. Second some people will hold on in case they announce a Switch 2 version in the future.

Oh I had no idea. I just saw a tweet from VGP I think saying "we'll have plenty of standard copies available" like hours before it went live.

Switch MoQ is 3k, PS5 MoQ is 1.5k. Presumably that's also true for the steelbooks.

An interesting game from SuperRareGames that went live today is still available with %46 stock left.. ships in August. Seems like a eye-catching Puzzle Adventure. I'm probably gonna grab a copy tomorrow

That's due to switching publishers/localization. Xseed did the original cold steel and 2. Nisa didn't jump in till later and took trails and Ys series from them. And poorly localized both. I'm sure everyone remembers 8s horrible translation and cs1 having a paper mache voice over job originally. where every other line would be voiced especially for the main character. And the text was bad. Sometimes you couldn't even read it was so tiny.

It's jumped largely since as well as them buying the fan translation of the zero and Azure games so they eventually localized them. As prior both had been passed over for localization at the time.

How did Nintendo QA miss that in certification? Gex fails to load.
I would bet modern QA is just self-assesed and only handles by exception these days.

So pay the fee, check the boxes, check the last one that you swear it's okay, and then off to the races.

I doubt Nintendo has any people loading up each hentai slider puzzle to see if they actually work.

Hell given that track record they have with pokemon of all things they don't bother to qa those much if at all anymore. Used to be game's would be at least playable but since the ds? It's questionable. Granted console variants became heavily common and you obviously cannot test all of them.

I was going to order Shinobi Classic Edition and it divides the order into two parts - The game and the contents. And is going to charge me $8 shipping per part for a total of $16 shipping for this one item? Absurd.

Is this the way it was for everyone else? I've never had them divide one item into two parts before when I've ordered.

I just received a email for a month delay for Jedi Power Battles. Moved from end of July to end of August. This seems to be a trend for the games I am ordering lately. It is nice to get updates though on order status.

I still haven't heard anything in months from Strictly Limited for Ray'z Arcade and Steel Empire Chronicles for Switch.
They have five months left of this year to get these in the hands of the people that preordered them. They promised to have all backorders shipped by the end of 2025. I doubt that is going to happen.

Also still waiting on Volgarr the Viking 2 for PS5 from Rock it Games. That was supposed to ship at the end of 2024 and I received a update in April that the game was delayed but nothing on when it will be shipped just that you will receive it soon. Nothing yet.

This is why I'm so glad I got off the FOMO buying of Limited Run and Strictly Limited games a long time ago. The forever waiting, the decreasing quality of CEs, and just the lack of room for all the endless releases. I guess I come into this thread every once in awhile to check what's going on out of curiosity. Seems the same BS still going strong that started years ago.

Well it used to be FOMO when there was no preorder period like there is now. But even with a preorder window I cant get myself to buy anything. Which is good thing I guess.

Agreed, I'm definitely guilty of that. I'm still part of the problem with LRG, keep buying stuff I know won't be good quality and take forever but they got franchises I like so.....

Tomba was the first time in forever that I skipped something I wanted but that was more because I felt carbon engine isn't good for anything beyond 2d games.

Hey, if you got the money, the room, and you enjoy the games, that's all that matters.

Definitely not FOMO for me personally. I only buy game I want in my collection. Lately only ordering Xbox releases on LRG that I have interest in.

This experience with Ray'z and Steel Empire has soured me with Strictly Limited and I will never order anything from them again. I have similar thoughts on Kickstarter. I am still waiting for a game I backed in 2018, Bushiden, seven years ago. They at least update us every so often but the game was supposed to release in 2020. I'm done with backing anything on Kickstarter. Plus some people these days are getting fully scammed on Kickstarter and that really sucks.

SLG is garbo and I will also never order from them. I still have a Akai Ito & Aoi Shiro HD Remaster Switch pre-order which I expect to never be fulfilled. They're extremely slow on fulfilling what they can.
You can ask SLG for a refund for the Akai Ito & Aoi Shiro HD Switch preorder. I did, they answered right away, but took about a couple weeks to get the refund.

I have emailed First Press Games 3 times asking for a refund for a game I preordered in 2021. I am shocked that I have received no reply.

I just have Eiyuden Chronciles left from KS where I backed it for like $200 or 300 (can't remember since it was in yen), and I don't think they'll actual deliver anything beyond standard game. Every update they provide is the typical "we're sorry for delays" with no real ETA and at this point, I doubt there's any money left for anything.

No way, that things been out for well over a year now. Yeah, I think your money is gone at this point.

Romancylvnia is in a similar spot. The game is done and out on digital storefronts, but the physical edition through LRG never materialized and it's been a few years. Luckily I didn't back that one.

It's not terribly uncommon. There were a bunch of games that had physicals vanish into thin air toward the end of the Vita's lifecycle - Sharin no Kuni, Grisaia Trilogy, Dies Irae, Heart Forth Alicia. Several of the Arcade Distillery games physicals/rewards are vaporware. Looks like Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia are heading that way. Unfortunately I did back those, which is why I'm out on Kickstarter at this point.

I think with Sharin no Kuni was the development/translation took too long and it wasn't finished in time for the VIta's final submission before production stopped. I had to look it up but I did get my refund for that one since I specially preordered the Vita physical tier. Did they ever.. finish the translation?

Eiyuden is a different issue, they made the game, sent people regular physical copies (not the KS exclusive cover, which they... just relased digitally and told people to print the special KS cover themselves LOL), and... that's been it so far. I'm assuming they were hoping to fund the concents with game sales but guessing the game didn't sell that well given the meh reviews, or they realized they can just pocket the money since backers have no recourse. I'm trying to think if Shenmue III was worse, but I know I got all my extras from that KS.

Sharin no Kuni's Vita port was subcontracted and the subcontractor was giving bad updates to the people running the Kickstarter, which resulted in it missing the deadline. They did give refunds on that, which sets it apart from most of the others I mentioned.

The lack of accountability on Kickstarter really does suck all-around though.

The only KS's I've done are Shenmue III which I got my copy and the slip cover... and then the Vita Muv Luv games which I did get as well as got the digital keys (can't remember if that was an initial promise or something they did due to delays). The risk for them didn't seem high but the wait was far too long for me. I'm not the kind of person that throws money at something and waits years to get it. I mainly buy standard releases so the LRG delays due to bundled in crap usually doesn't get me. I can live without a plastic statue or whatever random stuff they pack in. If it doesn't come with the standard release, I'll pass. Thankfully as bad as LRG has been, there are at least avenues to get most of the bigger games outside of direct purchase from LRG. Many get retail. Trails in the Sky 1 retail from bestbuy is good enough for me. I don't need a steel book unless it's a free preorder bonus (and even then I question my need for yet another thing to find a home for).

I miss when Kickstarter was more positive vibes and smaller goals. Nowadays, it's promise the world and hope something gets across the finish line. Or like that recent failure that was posted above, use it as a basis to get publisher money based on Kickstarter backing, but not really clearly stating upfront that that's the risk you're signing up for at the time.

I think smaller games faster is likely a better bet for devs. Or having realistic expectations.

I backed some old horror VN way back when and it hasn't seen the light of day. About 40% of my PC game orders never came or where abandoned, so I stopped using them. The worst was Irotoridori No Sekai - The Colorful World which who just took the money and ran. Nekonyan where amazing giving a Steam key for the game even though they never had to do with that mess. But yeah many failed games like Cryamore, Delver's Drop and some game that was trying to be Final Fantasy (forget now). Just wastes of money.

Joe & Mac Caveman Ninja T-Rex Edition for Nintendo Switch is available again in stock right now at VGP.. seems like a decent twist on the classic series for $22.. anyone ever play this before ?

Yes, I have it and me and my son played it all the way through. It's Joe and Mac, but with better art, for better or worse. If you enjoyed the arcade you will like it, but it wasn't changed that much so it is what it is. I wouldn't call it a "twist" though, just a remake. We bought it when it came out and did not regret it, but I've always liked those games.

There was a third party game on consoles called Caveman Warriors on last gen (Switch, PS4, XB1, PC) if you want a newer experience and four players. All four characters have different abilities. It's digital only and probably pretty cheap these days.

Yep I’m one of the Romancylvania physical backers. I guess at least I got an overpriced digital copy on PS5, LoL.

It's Embracer. It was always an eventuality. Look at the Star Wars games (sans KotoR). First individual release through LRG, the double packs at retail, and then the collection.

Preorders for Shinobi were extended to Sept 7th. I'm guessing they aren't getting the numbers, but this is good. I'd like to see reviews and how the Switch version compares to Xbox/PS5 before choosing between them.
The F in FOMO is no longer carrying them, now it’s more like EMIMO, “eh, maybe I’ll miss out”

Too many reprints, “second chance” sales, and excess inventory available elsewhere. It’s finally catching up that there’s better buying experiences available to still get the product. Hell, I order a single LRG game from them directly it comes in a cheap ass bubble mailer, I order from VGP it comes in a box. Their cheapness is catching up to them.

Alright, settle down. Maybe people just want to see how the game turns out before they buy it. You know, like how people have been doing since the early gaming mags.
