Little Big Planet - Gen. Discussion & Info

If anyone is curious, here are the lyrics:
The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').
To IAmTheCheapestGamer, I've reported your post. I understand your frustration, but I don't take kindly to bigotry. Some part of me hopes your post was in jest. You're the last kind of person we in this thread (or voting in the polls for that matter).
If anyone is curious, here is the lyrics:
I just read the original post and then a couple of the subsequent threads on the US Playstation boards and I still get a kick out of this bullshit.

Basically, the lyrics are saying that 'someday I'll die' and 'someday everything on Earth will die'.

OH MY GOD!! My mind cannot comprehend such phrases. I wonder if the song would still be offensive if the words were in English?

People need to get off their high fuckin' horses and just enjoy games for what they are: Enterfuckintainment

It's like the idiots who were offended by graphic video games, saying 'zomg they're not for kids'. Well no shit asshole, that's why they're rated M, dummy.

People really need to lighten the fuck up. I mean, if the ONLY reason you're playing a game is to actively search for something to be offended by and complain about, then you need a different hobby.

I'm with a lot of people on this one. Delaying it a week is not that big a deal. The big deal is why they are delaying it.

Why can't the people that are offended just boycott the game???? I'm not offended by the lyrics, I wouldn't even know what they are saying unless someone pointed it out to me and guess what? I'm still not offended.

If you don't like it don't buy it. I like it I want to buy it.

So I wonder how this will effect Ebay orders.
Mine was apparently shipped yesterday.
I guess it'll either be a rare copy, or a useless coaster. I guess it depends on how Sony wants to treat it.

I thought my copy of The Guy Game would be considered 'rare', but since Ebay changed their rules on it(it's considered something like porn or kiddie porn since the one girl who flashed was under the legal age when she did it), it's worthless since I don't think anyone even takes it in anymore.

Same deal with the first edition of San Andreas, as many retailers won't take in used copies for trade.

Stopped by GS and picked up a Kratos code, though they didn't have any for the newly-announced incentives. Anybody else get codes for the new costumes?

You know with all of the essentially broken games being released as finished titles we've been getting in the past couple of years, I'm surprised they're not just doing the patching thing and removing or blocking it that way. It's not like there's a CodeBreaker for the PS3 yet that'll allow people to unblock the 'offensive' content ala Manhunt 2, so it should be no problem to do so.

Of course, for those without the net to be FORCED to download the update to block it, someone might still get their Allah loving panties in a bunch over the stupidity. But, I still say fuck 'em.

That's what I plan on doing. I will wait until I get it through Goozex or it shows up used at Gamestop. I won't pay for a new copy of this game.

I could really care less if I have unique content in mine.
My only fear is that Sony will put in Live Code that will turn the bad copies into coasters. Making them unable to play online.
That would be a bit of a bummer.
Not anymore.
The site doesn't say that, but MY order does.

littlebigplanet.jpg
So does mine, but it's highly unlikely that they will still send us our orders by the 21st.
True, but one can hope. I know a fellow cag's order with standard shipping shipped a while ago.

My assumption is that they'll do something big to make up for this. Something along the lines of a free solid snake sack download available only the first week (to go with the already mentioned space suit and t-shirts). Or maybe some extra creator designed levels.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS fuckING BULLSHIT!!! Who fucking cares what some nobody has to say? X_ANGEL-DEVIL_X get a grip. I've been waiting for this game for a long time and right when it's about to come out (while my college is out for fall break) you go and fuck it up. Now i know that he can't be the only one to blame but come on. What makes this so offensive? GTAIV had all kinds of racial slurs and it didn't get delayed, and this is only a verse in a song ABOUT A DAMN RELIGION! Sony is being a bunch of pussies about this. Do like vgcats, if some one is offended about something as lame as this, then do something that is even more offensive. like their newest comics about abortion, they didn't act like a bunch of vaginas and apologize.

There's a big difference since GTAIV is M-rated and LBP is E-rated, so you can't compare what one does to the other.

Why are people so touchy, I could care less if the game said death to all white people. It is a game not a political party. In the next election vote for Little Big Planet, the party for change. This delay is a pile of dog sh*t surrounded by maggots and topped off with piss whip cream.

There is no racial slur. It's a song.

It speaks volumes that a game that is supposed to be about *creating* gets censored before it's even out.

Pre-order canceled.

Sony is kind of in the business of making money and not satisfying every fanboy whim and fantasy. They delayed the game a week. It's not the end of the world. Maybe you can go talk to some girls in the meantime or maybe join a club or something other than bitch and bitch and bitch.

Yeah or post about others bitching about it in the forum for the actual game right. Thanks for that clarification as to why Sony is in business it has really been a point of mass confusion, thanks for setting us straight.

Just got an e-mail from Amazon. Order is delayed.

Hello from Amazon.com.

We're writing about the pre-order referenced above for LittleBigPlanet (ASIN B000ZKA0JG), scheduled for release on October 21, 2008.

The game publisher, Sony Computer Entertainment, notified us that there will be a delay in releasing this title, and we will not be able to deliver it to you by the estimated delivery date provided in your order confirmation.

When Sony Computer Entertainment announces a new release date and we know when we can fulfill your pre-order, we'll send you an updated delivery promise via e-mail.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for shopping on Amazon.com.
Stopped by GS and picked up a Kratos code, though they didn't have any for the newly-announced incentives. Anybody else get codes for the new costumes?
I'm going to guess it's being packed into the same code.
So, it's not making fun of the religion. next thing they're gonna do is complain about women's faces not being covered up in video games.
So I poke fun at black people I get modded. You make fun of a religion held sacred by millions and you don't get an infraction?
I'm going to guess it's being packed into the same code.
Hopefully, though it would be nice to have an official clarification on the matter.

To be honest, I'm waiting to see the Sackgirl with a veil.

This is the worst news I've heard all day, mostly because I'm going to be out of town the week of the 27th. I'm going on vacation, which I'm generally looking forward to, except this'll put a damper on it as I'll probably want to be home playing LBP. Eh, I'm sure once I'm visiting friends and family I'll be having a good enough time that LBP won't be on my mind too much, but right now it is as I was really hoping to play through the story mode before leaving. Oh well. I'll still have Castlevania.

i have two different lbp codes the first one with kratos and then the new one that says this

Greetings
As an added bonus to pre-ordering littlebig planet at gamestop. you are entitled to an exclusive
Little big planet
Bonus level pack featuring in-game costumes for kratos, medusa, and minotaur, and additional themed stickers

so yea i dont think the first lbp preorder code will have the new stuff
To be honest, I'm waiting to see the Sackgirl with a veil.
Lol, kudos. Are games that have the song "amazing grace" gonna start being banned now. What about if there is a line from the Torah, or the book of Mormon? I wonder cheapy has to say about this? Wombat will probably agree with the delay of the game because he doesn't want to offend anyone. can't wait for the new cagcast.

I'd have to say the song sounds really nice -- and I don't buy any one person's translation of the song, especially when it's a given that any language translated into English loses a lot of meaning and natural ambiguities of the original words. Also, speaking to Muslim (American-born and raised though, so they may not have the same strict interpretations of older gen.) friends, they don't find that much offense to it and have heard the song before the game.
Hopefully, though it would be nice to have an official clarification on the matter.
When I called GameStop about this, that's what the employee told me that all the content is in the same code. But that's not really official clarification, lol
Well for all those looking to invest their money in video games, any copy you pick up now (meaning it has this song) is going to become incredibly rare.
You may have a rare copy, but as soon as you put the game in it's going to patch itself, so the only way you'll hear the song is if you never play the game online.

We've become a world that's overly cautious and we're becoming too politically correct. That CAN be a bad thing.

No reason that it couldn't have been released and allowed MM to release the patch to correct the game which the vast majority of folks would have gotten since they're going to want to play it online.

I mean, this game is only about living voodoo dolls and their misadventures through user-created content. What I'm afraid of is how anal Sony is over this. If they're willing to recall every copy over two lines of Islamic/Muslim utterances, rest assured, they'll ban you for breathing something culturally, morally, socially biased.

Welcome to the start of the very draconian LittleBigPlanet world.

Makes me wonder though... since i can assume that the game is probably being sold to a largely non-islam gaming base, how many are running SCE's board of directors and who made the call?

Last thing I will say, Nintendo had a problem with Islamic stuff with Ocarina of Time, they simply changed future copies though (Still have my desert chanting and moon/crescent mirror shield N64 copy.

Good thing we have rebellious, mentally-liberated freedom fighters like you. At least, that's what I'm guessing you are by your Apple logo avatar.

Sony is a large media corporation, so actually, they're probably run by Jews.

No but really, Microsoft did the same thing with Kakuto Chojin, so this isn't really an unusual thing.

I've been reading a lot of posts on this topic (here and elsewhere) and I think almost everyone is missing one point. Most people are assuming that Sony recalled these games only because they're afraid of Muslims. Some think they've done it for legal reasons. Then there are those who think Sony is just being sensitive about Muslim's feelings. I think in reality, they did it for all these reasons and one more that nobody seems to mention.

Did you guys hear what those verses mean? Do you bellieve many people would appreciate having Quoran verses in their game? I think the main reason Sony reacted so strongly to this (instead of just a patch) is because they don't want people to feel like LBP is associated with Muslims and their religion.

You think this is negative publicity? Just imagine what would happen to LBP if people were being told that there is Muslim Quoran verses in it. Just reading the responses you could see how much people appreciate Muslims. I think its ironic that, because people assumed they removed it because they're afraid of Muslims, instead of being glad that Muslim religions verses aren't in the game people are instead saying how much they would like it if it was.

Everything is just flipped. Pretty funny, to me.

Canceling the game Nephlabobo over this?

Hope you never played Ocarina of Time, or Zack and Wiki, or...
It's unfortunate, but hardly something worth denying this experience for.

Haven't played Zack or Wiki - was that changed for religious reasons?

OOT - played it briefly but not much.

I'm not denying myself anything. I'm voting with my wallet that I don't support censorship.
