Little Big Planet - Gen. Discussion & Info

Seriously, stop with the stupid trophy whoring. Trophies are pointless. Get out there, release some actually playable and fun levels, or don't at all. You'd think you'd learn that from the MGS4 levels.

Trophies should encourage you to play and have fun, not just grind to get some little token that means nothing.

What are you, the trophy police? I did find the MGS levels rather entertaining though. I simply don't have the time to make a kickass level (wife, two kids, crap-tons of other games... thanks to CAG) so I'd probably never get the create-oriented trophies otherwise. And yes, the trophies mean nothing, but to each his own.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for those of you who've created great levels, I just don't have the time to right now.

...and I mean, if you want to get totally meta, playing games in general means nothing... so why do we do it? We just derive our enjoyment in different ways, that's all. Nothing to get all uppity about.
has anyone ever played any lag free online games since the beta? :x
I have played games which were fine. However, I recommend inviting all friends while you are in the pod. If you do it in-progress, you'll sometimes pass a check point already passed, causing issues. My internet is also good.

Like I told some, LBP is probably a lot smoother online in Europe for an example, since the game was probably designed around European internet (which is must faster than the NA average). Namco and some other Japanese developers have done the same thing with their games, where if you aren't from Japan, you'll experience tons of lag. When MM tests the server, it's probably fine for them because of their internet speed. If LBP was designed around NA internet connection, it would probably run smoother for most.

You missed his point entirely. If you want trophies then earn them honestly. Don't pollute LBP with worthless levels and make the game less enjoyable for everyone in order to get them.

It blows my mind that a man old enough to be married and have children would act so immature.

No, I didn't miss that point. But that fact remains that, you know what?... if you don't want to play my crappy, empty, trophy-whoring levels, .... then don't play them. Pretty simple. I doubt my worthless piles of crap are stealing the spotlight from the really awesome levels. Plus, I have every intention of deleting them once I earn a couple of trophies anyway.

And again, I'd love to earn the trophies honestly, I really would. Most of them, I have. I simply don't have the time it takes to make really great levels.

It's not as simple as "if you don't like my crappy levels then don't play them". People like you make LBP players avoid playing newly created levels, making it hard for new quality levels to be recognized.

You screw over the LBP community with your trash and then come here and ask us to sacrifice our time to reward you for fucking us up. Incredible. On top of that, in the process, you make the trophy you're trying to get worthless. None of what you're doing makes a lick of sense.

Sheesh. Cry me a river. I never asked anybody to sacrifice their time.... I simply pointed out that if there were any like-minded trophy whores out there trying to plow through a bunch of levels to get closer to obtaining the Share trophy, that I had some levels that'd help in doing so. Beyond that, I asked for hearts, which takes all of 3 seconds to do. If you disagree, then obviously don't heart me, don't play my levels, etc. You act like I came to your house and killed your dog or something, geez.

You win, I'll delete the levels when I get home and stop "polluting" your precious game. From here on out, its all puffy clouds and blue skies for the LBP community.

grow up guys, just enjoy the game you want to play it as.

on that note, I want to make something new but have no time now that school has started... too busy doing video animations and my ultraman style movie >_
I would, but i'd rather do a Golden Boy one, but LBP won't allow it
you could totally do a 'worship the throne' level from goldenboy.. =)

all this talk of lame trophy levels reminds me. Is there a way to not rate a level after you play it?

sometimes I join a game and due to lag or something by the time I get there the leader has left and I'm at the end of the level. so now I have to rate a level that I've been in for less than 2 seconds. I feel that whatever rating I give it just isn't fair. Sometimes I try to follow other people so I don't have to rate but most of the time I end up in a trophy-whore level and that's annoying so I end up leaving.

Yea, I wish you were'nt forced to review a level after playing it. Cause once a level gets really popular you have so many people that just don't care about the rating so after they are done they just press X (which defaults to 3 stars...) so my level is now 4 stars. =(

Ok, so my kids actually made a pretty cool level. It is full of weird things but I figured good enough for them to publish. The only problem is that they needed something to lift the sackboys up a huge amount about half way through. I haven't done too much level building and was trying to help them but I have a question. How in the hell do you make the grabbing lifters that go back down again after the sackboy lets go? I finally figured out how to connect the grab switch to a winch and make it activate when grabbed - and it lifts you up (and then back down if you hold on). The problem is that it stays wherever you leave it when you let go. I want it to go back down or at least reset to the bottom in case the person falls off. I'm trying to make the level not have those frustrating "getting stuck and having to restart" areas that so many tend to have. Those tend to get instant low ratings from me, anyway ;).

A more advanced question - how do you make an elevator type thing? I was trying to do that and then just simplified it to the grabber. It works, but if you let go and fall then you have to restart and I don't want that.

do a lot of people still play this game online?

It seems like this game has a large fanbase (looking at the number of views).

Also, it seems like a keyboard or keypad is necessary since:

1) no one uses a headset (I've noticed this on any other ps3 game).

2) seems like teamwork is necessary, so with communication and using the on-screen keyboard would take ages.

I do hope that they fix the typing bug in an upcoming patch (where my typing shows up as blank until i hit enter) so that i can actually read what i have typed and correct any possible errors.

fuck... I can't stand it. I'm not playing this till the save glitch is fixed. I made a real nice costume (I'll post pics later today) I was proud of twice and it didn't save it both times. I also unlocked everything in the MGS4 pack pretty much and then it reset half of it. oh well.

Is there a number of 'community items' that causes the glitch to happen? How many things should I be wary of having in my collection? or just delete all of them all of the time?

Still have not (thankfully) hit the glitch.

I've tried to play online with people but outside CAGs on my flist. 60% of the people I connect to end up leaving by the time I get in and the other 40% don't have headsets minus one person who .. I'm praying was an annoying 12 year old. He sounded like he was 20 (no warping) but noone older than 12 should be that inane.

It does not wipe all of your saved data. It just prevents you from saving past the point of where you maxed out your profile limit.

I had this happen to me a lot, so I should know (And I think I was the first person to report on it here).

what's the way to fix it?

Just published a level called "Cthulhu Village"
nothing spectacular but it's neat. it has boating, swimming, and a boss fight if you have a couple min and want to check it out

Wait, so this glitch everyone is talking about with the MGS pack is just the same one that we've been seeing normally (without that pack) since we first started playing? I didn't think it was a glitch so much as an annoying "feature". That is, you can't have too many community objects and have to keep deleting them. We ran into this problem in the first few days of playing and my son, in particular, has it CONSTANTLY. It is because he goes online and plays community levels every day and accumulates a bunch of crap. The thing is, I thought the PS3 had a huge hard drive. Why the hell do they limit you to so few objects in your profile!? And yeah, it should still save progress and stuff like that instead of bailing with that stupid message all the time. So I guess that could be fixed, at least - though they really should allow you to have way more objects than they do. I go in constantly and delete stuff for him, though it is always a hassle as he wants to keep most of them ;).

My own profile has had the same problem a few times too.

People need to stop making levels where they give you all their crap ;).

Can we get a feature that tells us how many user-created levels we've played? I've been on that trophy (150 played, 50 tagged, 10 hearted) since the beginning of time and still don't have that trophy or know how far off I am.

I dunno, I might, like, check it out. Maybe.

Not that the theme appeals to me or anything :)

P.S.: I formally insist you change the name to Cthulhu

after fixing the save glitch I finished the MGS4 and have been playing around with some of the MGS4 pack decorations... made this today:

is the MGS4 pack good?

anyway popped this in after a month of inactivity lol. I finally beat the story mode and got a few random trophies, mostly creating level ones. I published an bunk ass level hoping to get one or two community trophies. Hope ppl are looking for that First! trophy.

So that whole controversy over the MGS pack really just has to do with having too many community items, or what?

I totally forgot about this game and the MGS pack would be a fun way to get back into it.

The paintball stuff does sound pretty fun, and is a nice surprise considering the level I was going to make (if I ever get time to just sit down and do it).

So really, the MGS pack glitch was just the community item bug in disguise? I don't have too many of those so I think I'm OK.

Well, if you want to really know, the bug occurred with the 1.06 update, not the 1.07 update. But it became more apparent with 1.07 (Which came like 2 days later anyway) so people naturally put the blame on the 1.07 update.

But like I said, deleting a good number of community items will allow you to save again. Although, it is still causing some havoc (For some reason my sorting settings always reset when I come back to the game now). But I suspect the 1.08 update will hit January 20th, a couple of days before new DLC starts rolling in.

Wow, I'm up to the mine levels and these are hard. I'm pleasantly surprised (and I want to throw my controller). That or I really suck at games. It's a good thing I never bought mega man 9 I guess (I tried the demo a few times and realized I couldn't even make it through one level).
lets just say the MGS4 pack made me love the game twice as much now at a time when it was starting to bore me. I have reinvigorated love for the game.
Thank you. I guess the $6 will be a good spend + trophies. I might wait til patch 1.08 though I dunno about those issues I read above =/
?

wut?
I think someone's hitting on him ;).

Anyway, in a completely UNRELATED note, I'm nowhere near ready to publish my first level, but my kids have published some and they aren't bad given their ages.

To stay on topic with the various threads I'll post the names of the levels in the other LBP thread (the one about CAG-made levels). I'd appreciate anyone still playing the game at least checking them out if you've got nothing else to do ;).
