I blew through my stockpile of points too on all the recent sales. I want to get Poker Smash, but the demo makes my 360 fan run like crazy and the system sounds like it's going to explode. That game is louder than Star Trek D.A.C.!

I really hope everyone here is playing the demos of any Arcade game before buying it. I see so many posts about people buying games and regreting it soon after. If you don't like the demo or aren't completely thrilled by it, then no point in buying the full game.

Steam is fine if you're the only person in your family who plays games, otherwise it sucks. With the xbox at least we can all play the games we buy, with stream we can do that too, but only if we buy three copies of the same game! Of course the xbox has it's own issues - paying for online sucks too, for gaming families. Also if you've got a Mac, as I do, currently the Steam library is pretty limited.
with these sales continuing lately back to back, no need to buy an xbla game @ release/launch date anymore i'll be waiting. going to get pb winterbottom and am skeptical about darwinia+ hmm...poker smash and chime are a must buy they're great games!
I can't even keep up with the on sale games, never mind the full priced games. This is getting overwhelming

Man, I bought Chime a while back for 400, thinking since it was so cheap it'd never go on sale, had to prove me wrong! I still have to yet to play it heh.

Might pick up SWOS before the end of this weeks sale, need to try it out. Kind of want to get Onslaught Mode for BC2 as well, running out of points :whistle2:(. (I decided to grab all 4 of the Sonic games the other day too, for the lock-on stuff/extra achievements lol)

Next week: Poker Smash (loved the demo), and PB Winterbottom for me! Have everything else I would have wanted.
So any recommendation on Darwinia+? Buying and playing on the PC is not an option for me...
Try the demo. It was a big turn off for me personally but to each his/her own. I'll be picking up both Chime and PB Winterbottom come Monday. Already have Defense Grid. No interest in Rocket Riot.

How are the achievements for Poker Smash?

pb winterbottom is mine. good thing i didn't have time to play games or i wouldve got it when it came out at double the price.

Anyone know what the July Xbox Live DOTW's are gonna be yet? I got my OXM a couple of days ago but I havn't looked through it yet to see if they published the list...

Well why don't you do it! :]

I think I got most of them in Poker Smash? The only ones I think I didnt get were relating to chaining big combos together. Oh and the 1,000,000 pt achievement. That was missed for the same reason, never got the hang of the big chaining. Great game though, easily worth $5.

If you still havent bought Defense Grid and you are even remotely interested in Tower Defense games, buy it, It really is the definitive TD game

I just wanted to say that if you haven't given Chime a try, there's no better time than now. IMHO it out-tetrises Tetris.

Deals are live. Just picked up Chime and PB Winterbottom.

Gonna give Smash Poker a trial too but out of points at the moment till my Amazon shipment arrives so that will have to wait regardless. Loving Chime!
Thanks reddjoey for the updates, I always check here first for xbl deals :)

On the fence though on PB and Chime, any thoughts?
If you PC game at all, PBW is only $5.00 on Steam by default, and includes 5 extra levels. I haven't seen a deal yet, but it will go on sale there eventually. Some people seem to have problems will the game launching etc.

The PC version has five levels that the 360 version doesn't have? From what I've read the 360 has the five bonus levels too?

holy crap, chime, which looks like a Tetris clone, is listed as 815mb on xbox.com. Is this true?? Are the graphics done with like 1900x1200 images??

Just picked up Poker Smash (been waiting for a deal on that one for a long time) and will try out Chime and probably get that too. On the fence about PB Winterbottom - the demo was decent but it seemed like it would get tiring fairly quickly. I'll give that one another shot before the sale ends though.

Also wanted to add my thanks to reddjoey for maintaining this thread - this is one of my go-to threads on CAG and I've heard of some great deals here.

Of this week's sales, I have Defense Grid and Rocket Riot and highly recommend them both. Defense Grid is the best tower defense game on XBLA, easily surpassing the likes of South Park and Crystal Defenders. Rocket Riot is a fun, twin stick shooter with lots of charm. I got it for this price during a previous sale and it's become my favorite underrated game. Both are must buys at $5.

I'm going to demo the others, but only Poker Smash looks like a definite for me. I have a feeling I'll need more points for the 2 new releases this week anyway.

I think it's more like Lumines than Tetris. I believe it includes full tracks from Moby and Phillip Glass, among others.

I completely forgot how much of a memory monster Chime is. Yes, it does take 815 MB of memory, so if you don't have the space to hold it, you probably shouldn't get it. I have no idea why it takes so much memory considering it only has a small amount of songs and stages.

It is a fun puzzler for about a week, but after that I quickly got tired ot if and haven't touched it in a while. The full game is pretty much exactly like what's on the demo.

eh, fine, 815mb, I'll get it for the mere 240pts. thanks for the input guys! Never got into Lumines even though I have a sealed Plus copy for the PS2 and a UMD for the PSP around here somewhere..go figure!

Oh man. They really need to update the dashboard interface for the Arcade Games now.
I have always bought many of the Arcade Games, but these past 2 months alone I believe I have bought like 15. I have almost 100 full XBLA games and I really do not enjoy having to scroll through all of them just to look at them. I really wish they had something similar to the Wii as stated by other users.

As always, thanks reddjoey for keeping up this great thread that always somehow consumes my MS points every time I look at it!

What got old with PB winterbottom? The basic layout, art style and mechanics don't change a whole lot, but every few levels and every single different world will force you to play very differently(not just in how to complete it, but the actual skillset you have as well). For me that's a game I can point at and go "varied"; it's short but I never felt one type of puzzle overstayed it's welcome by just adding bells and whistles for 20 levels.

I think I'll grab Winterbottom and Poker Smash, and possibly Chime. The only thing holding me back on Chime is that space is getting tight on my old 20gig 360.

DEFINITELY getting PB Winterbottom. Wanted it when it first came out, but knew it would probably be on sale eventually. Might pick up Chime, also heard Darwinia+ is pretty good once you learn how to play it.

Oh, and for those of you who don't have Defense Grid, I highly recommend it. I'm not that big of a fan of TD games, however I've had a blast with it, and there's PLENTY of content there for $5. If you're unsure, try the demo and all the levels included, as that will give you a good idea as to whether or not you will ultimately enjoy the game.
I am literally 3 ms space bucks short of enough to buy Chime. I have 237. It's 240. UGH.
How in the blue hell did you wind up with a seven at the end of your MS points?!

Definitely going to pick up PB Winterbottom. Hopefully i'll get a chance to play some of these games before the arcade backlog gets too long. Thanks OP for keeping us all in the know with the XBLA deals

back about 2 years ago, Zune offered some albums at 99 points each. I bought 3 of them. Oy...

Stupid question but is this sale 1 day only? The others sales had more than 1 day listed.. but this is deal of the WEEK afterall.. but sonic was 1 day only. Confused!

I've been meaning to upgrade mine for forever, but I'm just too cheap, so now with only a little over 2gb's left I'm forced to choose carefully... eventually I'll upgrade :x

can anyone recommend me getting Defense Grid when I already own it on the PC?

and i did not complete it on the PC even... admit I got bored.
