Toys R Us.com has Lollipop Chainsaw up for preorder at a cool $44.99 with free shipping ($15 off MSRP) for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Different websites are giving off different dates for the release though. Amazon, Target, and Wikipedia = 4/24, TRU = 5/22, BB = 6/1, and GameStop = 8/1. I know for a fact that it has an official release of May 19th for Japan but WB hasn't announced a firm release date for United States so tread lightly. Signs obviously point to an April release date for the US though.

Lollipop Chainsaw now has an official release of June 12, 2012

Still, a decent price for a game that looks to be pretty fun. If you want those preorder codes you are out of luck if you choose to order from TRU. The preorder costumes are exclusive to Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

Also, recently there were some new anime inspired costumes announced for the game. If any of you watch anime and are fans of High School of the Dead, Deadman Wonderland, Is This a Zombie, or Manyu Hiken-Cho then this news will excite you! Screenshots of all the costumes can be found at the link below, thanks Rychy.

People waiting for price drops for Suda51 games piss me off. His games are some of the most unique and fun around, but no one ever buys them. This isn't another zombie game, it's a fucking Suda51 zombie game. Throwing $60 on it at GameStop.

There are plenty of games I wish people would buy at full price. Unlike you, I don't expect people to all be passionate about the same things. Unless it's Twilight, I guess.

Does it make any difference to Suda's cut if you buy it for $45 or $60, as long as it's on day 1? I wouldn't think that TRU is getting their supply for any cheaper than Amazon does.
I love Suda, but Shadows of the Damned doesn't make me very hopeful for this title. Not to mention that it looks pretty unremarkable.

It'll be $20 in no time.
I think this might have a lot more going for it over NMH or SotD.

1. Marketing - I have seen ads for this before I watched some Netflix DVDs. The trailers are all over the place. The other 2 games didn't have that.

2. Zombies - popular

3. Cheerleader protagonist - yes!

4. Chainsaws - !!!1!!!

I could be wrong, but I am hoping Suda has a hit on his hands since I want more of his stuff on the shelves.
I agree, Pretzle, it's a shame.
It's kind of like Darkness 2. It's a great game, but with everyone wanting to wait until it gets cheaper because of the game's length, we'll probably never see a Darkness 3.

People want cheap games; I'm not upset or anything about people wanting to sleep on this. But Platinum/Clover/Suda games are always fun and unique and I don't see them lasting too much into the next generation of games when dev prices increase even more.
It'll be sad to see them go too.

Or maybe I am just too doom-and-gloom today.
No, you have a point. If everyone waits for $20, there will be no more Suda games. I really liked SoTD so maybe I'll pick this up at launch, beat it, trade it to Amazon.

I didn't care about the game at all until I saw Jimmy Urine had a part in it... then I ran to Gamestop to preorder it immediately.

Exactly. If the game is bad, trade it off. If it turns out to be ass, or really short, I'll put it on amazon or goozex. Same as other games.

But like it was said above, its CAG. People will always post "waiting till $20".

I agree this mentality sucks but as you said its CAG and you just gotta hope it sells enough to warrant a sequel if its a good game

Are the gamestop costumes going to be available to purchase off XBL? 2 costumes are not worth a $15 difference, especially if you can buy it off XBL. =/

I bought NMH 1&2 on day one. I waited on Shadows because I played it at an event beforehand and was very unimpressed. I love the guy, but I won't drop down my money on something I don't feel is worth the full amount.

SotD sounded like the perfect game before its release. Suda and Mikami working on a TPS with Yamaoka running the music? It SHOULD have been amazing, but it was barely above average with absolutely no replay value whatsoever.

The first time I played through the 2D portions of the game I was giddy, but then I immediately realized how horrible they were. Plus you have to play through these portions multiple times without having any fun. You can't skip cutscenes, which makes repeat playthroughs a chore. All in all, it was a HUGE disappointment.

Lollipop looks decent, and the few bits of gameplay that have been shown look original, but I'm not gonna drop the $60($45 in this case) on the hope that it might be good. The music sounds okay despite it being partly produced by that god awful Jimmy Urine. I'll wait and see what people say about the game, and then still get it anyway when it drops to $15 via Gamefly.

Im sure this has to have come up before. What is stopping someone from pre-ordering from gamestop, getting the DLC codes and using them, but returning the unopened game back to gamestop for a refund? Id like to think that they would have a system to prevent this type of behavior?

dignity.

Hunter nice idea. I'm sure you'd still have to pay for shipping and all that but still that's only 3 bucks about how much it'll be to get them as DLC. Anyone else try that with a different game? I could order one from GS and the other from TrU. Dignity hahahaha we're on a forum called cheap ass gamer. We're here to save money not be dignified.

I ordered a copy of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 from Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop. The Gamestop copy was in-store and when I returned it, everything went smooth. I know pre-owned games from the website can be returned in-store, but I am not sure about new games. If they can though, that would mean you wouldn't have to worry about shipping costs.

It is gaming the system, but there isn't anything in place to stop it from being abused. It's the only time I have done such a thing, but I have been debating doing it again for this game.

With UMvC, I didn't give a fuck about 'dignity.' I've been a fan of Capcom fighting games since forever and the MvC series is one of my favorite game series, tied only with Jet Set Radio. I know I'm not entitled to anything really, but I kinda got pissed when they announced retailer-exclusive DLC, like "Hey, wtf? I'm a super-huge fucking fan of your games? Why are you making it hard to get all the stuff?" So I did what I had to. I guess I knew in the back of my head they would get released on XBL, but not on day-one, and being the giant fanboy I am, I wanted them immediately.

The exclusive retailer content is fucking stupid, and I hope it stops. I forgot what video game writer did a piece on how stupid it was, but he was spot on when comparing the exclusive DLC to other forms of media. He compared it to movies and going to the theater. Go to AMC and get 5 minutes of extra content, but then go to Galaxy 8 and get a button and 5 minutes of totally different footage. Just a bad bad idea. Splinters the users/fans.

Theaters Movies are doing it. Now on IMAX 3D and Real 3D, director's cuts, unrated, extended cut...

I agree. I can understand if you preorder the game you get a costume or something that is universal for all retailers, but this each retailer getting different DLC is crap. I as a gamer should not have to preorder at one store just to get some DLC no other place has, especially if it means get $15 off a preorder like in this case or get DLC.

Still excited for this game, but yeah it's just garbage when they pull this crap.

And that video game writer has never spent a single day inside a real company. You do what it takes to make your profits. It's not illegal to have retailer exclusive content.

I love how he makes an example out of movies. Uhhh, I can find dumb examples out of everything too. "Herp.. could you imagine if cars had exclusive content. Like if the Honda accord you bought from one place had an extra side view mirror...deerrrrrrrr"

The fact is that it works for video games. Hell, even for music and dvd/bluray releases. It sucks for completionists (word?) but it's a smart business model and for the majority of people, they go where they want (nightwing dlc vs no dlc) and are happy with it.

I understand it's not ideal but it helps the publishers get the game in stores and it helps the stores sell product. Without real sales to soccer moms as CAG so often like to talk about, WE don't get our games and WE don't get our deals. So instead of bitching about things, we should appreciate that we get them cheap.

Mostly, I'm just bitching cause unnamed video game writer (probably blogger) is a dumbass.

As much as it sucks that WB is pulling the same "retailer exclusive costume" crap that it did with Arkham City, it also means that like with that game, they'll probably all be available as normal DLC later on, and for less than $15. Ergo, I'm just going to pre-order it for $45 and hope that my idle speculation is true.
The game has a release date now - June 12th.
WOW! amazon's date is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off then.

This item will be released on April 24, 2012.

Its silly that TRU, amazon and gamestop all have different release dates.

Good point, but with movies you sometimes find them being shared on the Internet before the movie is even released in theaters. They got to offer something to differentiate the experience from just downloading it onto your computer. They are still a bit different though since the content of the movie doesn't change, it's more about the experience I suppose.

With so many game studios shutting down, I guess they try to do something to make some extra revenue. I'm not justifying it, but I suppose that's one of the reasons. I think it sometimes has the opposite effect though, since some people will just wait for the "goty/complete/komplete" version.

I'm glad that this game finally has a confirmed release date. I was really hoping for the Amazon April date to pull through but what can you do. June isn't too far away from now.

And yeah the preordering at gamestop and returning the game trick works. If you buy it in store they print the DLC code on your receipt. As long as you don't open the game you have 30 days to return it. I don't do this like all the time but sometimes I feel like sticking it to the man when publishers pull the crap of multiple costumes for different retailers. I too did the classic switch when I bought UMvC3 like EYEL1NER had stated.

Besides, I think the amount of money I spend at gamestop should entitle me to sometimes getting a free DLC code now and then, I mean it's only valued at $5. I don't think gamestop cares that much because that stuff costs them virtually nothing.

Hmmm... $15 Off or "exclusive DLC" that will be on XBL/PSN in time?

I think I'll go with TRU. Such a hard decision. fucking GameStop.

Can't wait to play this game!!!

They announced that all costumes (including the Japanese costumes like the console exclusives and the anime suits) will be available.

Link? I don't doubt it, just curious where you saw this.

They said available worldwide, not that it'll be available on PSN, or am I missing something?

Gamestop preorder bonus not being sold later is still "available" here.

Edit: Nvm.

ALL costumes it says. Assuming that means GameStop's "exclusive" bonus. TRU still wins.

Sigh. This game looks really odd and fun and cool. Also, I like many of the extra outfits.

Alas, I am a cheap ass (aren't we all?) so I'll be waiting for 2013 and hoping for an "Ultimate Edition" with all the bells and whistles packed in.

I'm waiting for the Shadows of the Damned Ultimate Edition!

No More Heroes technically had a re-release a la No More Heroes: Paradise.

But yeah I agree, I don't think Lollipop Chainsaw or Shadows of the Damned would have an ultimate edition.
I'm waiting for the Shadows of the Damned Ultimate Edition!
I finally broke down and got it for $15. What DLC was there on that one?
I don't think this game will have re-release...
If so, alternatively I buy it at $15 and debate on DLC...in 2013.

For those hoping for the preorder outfits becoming DLC I'd weigh my options now. The official LP twitter account has stated that NONE of the outfits will be available as DLC. Now that's odd considering it's common practice and WB did it with Mortal Kombat so it could just be PR bullshit, but you never know. I'm guessing all these additional outfits (including the anime ones) will be included in the game then, probably as a voucher.

From the Crunchyroll article:

"In even more news regarding the new DLC costumes, the official Twitter account for the game has confirmed that all of the costumes offered in both versions of the game as well as the anime costume DLC will be offered worldwide - HS"

According to @LolliChainsaw, "all outfits will be available in all countries :)." I don't know if they have addressed if the preorder costumes will be exclusive but I think that they wouldn't want to miss out on extra revenue. I am pretty sure the preorder costumes will be exclusive for a couple of months then they will become available on XBL and PSN. Capcom did the same with the "exclusive" UMvC3 alternate costumes.

Hmm this is tempting. The game looks pretty good and it's also getting released on my birthday, but for some reason paying $44.99 for this game feels like it be too much.
Will be $10 a month after release.

I'll get it then.
It took forever for SOTD to reach $20ish so this will follow suit $40 MSRP in a month, $10 by Oct.
publishers keep whining about used game sales hurting them. why do they think people are buying used? $60+ tax is too much for most of us to put out on games, especially with so many of them. start them out at $30 new and sell higher volumes.
Bad news this game is really short...4 hrs short

Wow, two months ago for a response. Mine is being prepared to be shipped. I don't care for the length, I still remember paying for Devil May Cry 1 $50 when it came out and that was short. Fun game though.
