Lost Planet - Discussion and Hype Thread - UPDATE: Map Pack #3 Free Aug. 16th.

The island map is freaking huge. Definately has a learning curve. Hopefully they ship out the battlegrounds map soon once they fix the last patch.

Yea I liked the game but thought it was a little short. I mean I really liked the game so I'll turn my head lol. I'm not going to get the maps since I have very bad ping so fps online are a no go, I miss college connections.^^

Ahh awesome I didn't know there was a levelling system....gah I want this game soooo bad, gotta wait a few more weeks XD

The leveling system is cosmetic.

In other words, it's simply a number next to your name.
I read in an earlier post that you get new suits or clothing though right?
Yeah thats right, you get new character models and skins for leveling up.

mm well thats ok...I really like how the Xbox has all these achievements and kind of the PC type things that consoles never had...makes games more enjoyable to play.

is there any link to the skins you get at each level? I'd like to check em out. (With pictures of course :p)

Another pair of maps coming April 6th for 400 pts:

April 2, 2007 - Today Capcom announced the second multiplayer map pack for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be available from the Xbox Live Marketplace on Friday, April 6. The pack will put players back 400 Microsoft points ($5.00) and includes the levels Hive Complex and Trial Point.

Hive Complex is an abandoned mine full of twists and turns. Set in a war torn mountain side, players can battle it out through tunnels and over bridges. Trial Point takes the skirmish to the most extreme condition of all: a modern office complex in the middle of a busy city.

Just started playing LP today...pretty fun game! I have yet to venture into online mode (will wait until I beat the game).

As big of an LP junkie as I have been, I think I might hold off on these maps. This 400 for 2 thing is getting a tad rediculous, especially since the game itself still has some big bugs(dropping players in the lobby constantly) that haven't been fixed.

I didn't buy the first two released maps based on myself taking pride of never having spent any money on anything having to do with the Xbox Live Marketplace.

But damn, the videos for this second set of levels is tempting me oh so much :( I wish they would do a fixed price for both sets together, I think I might buy it that way.

Why do you like to take pride on missing out on a lot of cool shit?
Why do you like to take pride on missing out on a lot of cool shit?
it makes me enjoy the free shit ive got so much better (uno, hexic, random themes/pics, joust, robotron... actually ... especially joust and robotron.. had they not been free, i would have never played these ever .. ever ever ever, never ever ever, they are the worst games ever).

really its more so that i enjoy when a company supports its buyers by releasing free stuff. i think of halo 2 when the new maps came out, i understood they were charging for people to buy it at first, but after they re-coup their money or what not, they released it for free. or in the case of crackdown or GoW, two games i dont even like, but i respect that the makers keep releasing stuff for them (crackdown had 4 new agents the day of release).

Well I had some points left over from my Shivering Isles purchase, so I picked these up.

After running through all the layouts with a buddy, I must say these maps are really impressive. The business complex has a fantastic view of a semi-destroyed cityscape.

Thus far I haven't seen anything like exploding bridges from island, but there are a few neat little secrets.

If you are debating which set to get, get set #2. Much better.

Holy crap, get the maps. I bit the bullet, bought all 4.

Trial Point, looks so damn beautiful on an HD set (I got my 360 hooked up to my monitor). Its inside a building, the top floor is being renovated, and then you have the inside to have fun in, vents to go through, various hallways. I tend to only use rifles when playing Lost Planet, but this level has got me to appreciate the shotguns and machine guns a lot more. Also, when playing Team Elimination, I always played only 2 teams, this level makes playing 3-4 teams really fun.

The Hive level is so fun. So many little caves to go in, then there is the outside which is great for sniping.

Radar Station is so cool, its almost like fighting in a huge dome, lots of little ins and outs to this level though too. I feel like im in a paintball match in this level.

Island 902, I can't find anyone playing this map yet :( ( I will say though, I do usually play in off hours, so I can understand people playing the other new maps more so right now, cause I hear this one is huuuge)

I have a good amount of XBLA games, and I can say I would easily take these 4 maps over an arcade game.

Yea considering my connection I went with Luxor 2 instead of getting the new maps but they sound like they're pretty sweet. Lost Planet has a good dev team so I bet the maps are really well created and balanced.

Anyone still playing this?

If I don't buy the new maps, I simply won't see any games with hose maps in the lobby, right?

Lost Coast + Rifle = Heaven

There are still quite a few people playing. Enough that it seems like capcom can't handle the server requests at times, as there have been lag issues lately. The other night it wouldn't even search for games.

You are correct about the lobby, you will not see a game if you don't have the map, and the "random" option will never pick a dlc map.

Gotcha. Ive been playing non-stop for the past week or so online...only Level 24 or so but I keep getting dropped mid-way through games.

If you head to bbs.capcom.com then go to the LP forums, they have some "fixes" in the technical problems forum. There are lot's of issues that still need fixing, but it's pretty random.

I was playing online yesterday, finally got the "10 medals playing Fugitive mode" achievement, won't be playing that mode much now.

Shame I'm too crap to win an Elimination, ah well.

Isn't that pretty easy to get?
As long as anyone kills the Fugitive you get a medal...right?

Well it is easy, as long as you have 15 Hunters and one Fugitive, but those games were few and far between last night. On the game I finally got the Achievement there was only 3 hunters on a huge map. I managed to kill the fugitive a couple of times, once where he was in a VS and I had to destroy that a kill him with a Plasma rifle. So I had to work pretty hard for that medal.

But yeah, it's easier than the Elimination medal. where I think you have to win the damn thing.

The two newest maps they made are 'must buys' ... both are designed so nicely.

i haven't played in a few days, but only cause im busy, otherwise, i always play LP, and there is always a lot of people on, lots of brits and japs play ive noticed.

All you have to do is win ONE elimination match? Haven't you ever been in games, not purposely but it just happened, where theres like 4 people and three of them are noobs and tk themselves? XD

Well you have to win 1 match to get the "Win a medal of each type" achievevment and 10 to get another achievement.

No I've never been in a room like that, the one time I was doing ok there was some 733t dude who got like 12 kills in a row. I came 3rd in the room which I thought might be enough to get a medal, I was wrong

I still play this a ton, I had taken about a month off, but have gotten back into it over the past week. I didn't buy the most recent map pack, but Radar Field with shotguns is a lot of fun. Still tons of games available, something was wrong with XBOX Live late Friday night and that was causing so few matches to show up and the search to take so long. Hit me up, if you guys are getting a game going: PrayForMojo2.

I've been playing through the SP this past week. Absolutely fantastic. The kind of intense battles, and boss fights that I haven't experienced in a long time.

I'm on Level 10, don't know how much longer I have to go (please refrain from telling me, I'd rather not spoil anything in any way) and the game has already plateaued a couple times, unlike many other recent shooters that end before the game even hits its stride.

Lost Planet's one player campaign felt pretty short to me.

But the multiplayer more than makes up for it.

I await the game that is ballsy enough to either just make it multiplayer only or focused completley on campaign (oh wait, i think i just named 'turok wars' and 'bioshock')

even though I don't like the game at all, Shadow run will be mulitplay only.

Multiplayer map pack #3 for Lost Planet ™: Extreme Condition for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will be available for download on Xbox Live® Marketplace on Thursday, June 21. The map pack costs 400 Microsoft Points™ and includes THREE new multiplayer levels: “Lost Technology,” a throw-back to the good ol’ days of pixelated 8-bit gaming; “Ruins,” ancient temples set amidst a lush jungle; and “Ice Drop,” a frigid glacier with lots of peaks, nooks and crannies.

Video and preview here: http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13711/Lost-Planet-Map-Pack-3-Coming-Next-Week/

These maps look really cool, totally taking everything away from the snow. Might pick these up.
wtf... 8bit?
I know...this pack is so weird that I love it. Im uploading the videos on youtube.com I'll post them as soon as they upload.

after watching the 8 bit video.. that rocks... I'm also glad to see capcom realizing what it's worth at 400pts... 2 maps sucks, but 3 maps is just right. I'd play this alot more than I have if capcom would fix a connection error that randomly boots me from games for no reason. Supposedly a patch will be out in july, so I hope they get it fixed.

Also...Battleground Map is on XBLM now and its free to download. This was the free map that people who preordered the CE got.

Looks like I'm gonna be doing some offers for points cards while my 360 is being fixed.

They look great..not sure about lost tech, but I'm sure it will be a fun novelty map.

Say what you will about the lag/costs/whatever, but capcom continues to push out some of the coolest, most creative maps I've seen for a console shooter in a long time.
