Lumines Live!' for Xbox Live Arcade brings exciting new music, new video content, and 12 different skins, for hours of fun. The Xbox Live Arcade game features exclusive Xbox Live online multiplayer play, allowing you to play against your friends in head-to-head battles. “Lumines Live!” includes:

* Full online multiplayer play over Xbox Live – battle your friends head-to-head
* Classic Lumines gameplay, including Challenge, Puzzle and vs. CPU modes
* All-new Skin Edit Mode allows you to re-mix the order of your unlocked skins to create a custom Lumines experience
* All-new Mission mode presents player with pre-designed Lumines puzzle scenarios
* Dynamic skins, sound effects and music optimized specifically for Lumines Live! in high-definition graphics and 5.1 channel surround audio
* Extensive downloadable content support over Xbox Live Marketplace – add new skins, puzzles, missions, artist packs and more
* Full suite of online leaderboards

The full version of the game will be 1200 points. Plus an optional pack for 600 points will also be available that will allow gamers to change their music scene as well as choose from 22 new skins. I'll post the moment 'Lumines Live' is available on the Marketplace. The actual time of availability will depend how the rest of the maintenance goes

now the question-- full version as in "full psp version" and are the 22 new skins really new or just the rest of the game?

edit: 1200 for the "Base" game and 600 for the Advanced pack. there might be 2 more packs on the way.

and if that's too damn much for your cheap ass, which it should be, then try this out:

UPDATE- 1/18/07
Our good buddies at MS and Q Entertainment were so distraught that their customers were so angry over Lumines' shady, microtransaction filled release that they are cutting us a deal on some new stuff:
Thanks to Deadlite76

Next week's Wednesday's XBLA downloads are specially priced for a limited time!

All prices are from Jan. 24th - Feb.21st:

Heavenly Star Skin: Free

VS CPU Pack: 100pts (300 pts. after Feb. 21st)

Puzzle/Mission Pack: 100 pts (300 pts. after Feb. 21st)

Hmmm.. no patch for live play (Lumines is the laggiest game ever) and the old packs are still full price. Oh well. It's nice they are giving us this much, I guess.

I can only hope whoever is putting this out decided to do away with that shitty "spend 700 more points to get the full game" BS.

If this is really the FULL game for 1200 points, I'll probably bite. 22 new skins for 600 points, maybe, depending on what they are.

The other possibility is that the new skins are all those crappy licensed songs they showed at E3-- Madonna, etc.

that would be nice of them to keep those as a downloadable option.

fuck yea, then I would never have to pay the 600 points for them!

Lumines Live is not the same as Lumines PSP, it has skins from Lumiens, Lumines 2, and I think it has some original skins too. Also there are the new modes.
So they got rid of the two packs that extend the game? Sweet.
I hope so. This is the only PSP game I wanted to give a spin, so at 1200 I'll bite!

well, I'm glad....this is the first 360 release I've been interested in since...SF2 (demos and such not withstanding)

As am I. I have no real interest in extra skins now, but if I was on a role in the single player and had to stop and buy a new pack, that would be kind of weak.

I'm still not totally convinced this is not the case. Have to play to find out.

I think they are doing damage control with their description of the add-on pack. And I am sure they are sitting on other packs as well.

But, as always, I can be wrong, we'll see.

I wish they would have at least made a deal for 1600 points for the Full game with Advance pack. how on earth are you suppost to buy 1800 points with out buying an extra card. That is such a scam on there part. I will still get the regular version game cause I been waiting forever for it.

I have had 50 points sitting in my account since I got my 360 because they do the points stupidly.
What was it...I looked like tetris but could someone explain the premis of the game
Oh, wiki. How I love thee.

A block-dropping game, its look and basic gameplay is similar to Columns and Tetris, although the music and visuals are far more important to this game. A 2 x 2 square (an O tetromino) made of four smaller block pieces is dropped into the playing field. The small blocks that comprise the larger blocks will be one of two different colors. You make the blocks disappear by rotating their component block orientation and using the D-Pad to form four matching colored blocks into a square. A vertical "timeline" periodically sweeps horizontally across the field and removes such squares. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets too tall. When part of a falling block hits an obstruction, the unobstructed portion of the block will split off and continue to fall.

Lumines is played in different "skins". Like the software interface skins, these change the visual appearance of the board, but they also control the soundtrack. Each skin contains a different song and different sound effects, which are triggered by game events and then integrated into the soundtrack. As in Mizuguchi's earlier game Rez, the separation of soundtrack and sound effects is much less than in most video games. Skins are unlocked by progressing through the different game modes.

There are 4 basic modes in the game, Challenge, Time Attack, Puzzle, Vs., and Vs. CPU Mode. Challenge Mode cycles through skins in a fixed order of generally increasing difficulty, and is played until the blocks pile up to the top of the screen. The maximum score in Challenge Mode is 999,999 points. Time Attack games give the player a limited time to clear as many blocks as possible. Puzzle mode challenges the player to create pictures (such as a cat, dog, cross, etc.) by forming the picture with one color while surrounding it with the opposite color. Vs. CPU mode is a series of battles against A.I. opponents. A line splits the playing field in half, and deleting blocks or combinations of blocks shifts the line towards the opposing player, effectively giving the player doing the deleting more room on their side and the opposing player less. The battle ends when blocks pile up all the way to the top of the screen for one player.

that's the whole point of the MS point system. to make you buy more than you need.

packages of hot dogs ftw!

If you strictly buy only games, and not other content, then everything rounds off nicely.

I've had an extra 100-200 since launch. there's always a remainder.

Carnival tickets FTW!
I hope people don't buy that extra pack and support how their system works it's just not right to us.
it's right to me, im going to buy it now just to spite you =D

I dunno...Bill Gates is pretty philanthropic. he did give me windows xp for free ;)

I'm glad they shifted the cost around a bit, but I still won't buy it.

I've got Splinter Cell and Tiger Woods on the way. Then Marvel next week.

I wished they'd keep major arcade releases for dry spells. Had it been on October 4th, I would have bitten. But too much retail product in the line now.

Just keep in mind, in Lumines, skins are basically levels. So yes, buying the extra 600 point advanced pack, is basically buying "the rest of the game". (Or I guess you could look at it as buying most of the levels in Lumines 2, as that's what I read it is)

no joke! I understand the concept of "keeping them wanting more" but seriously...what have we gotten in the past few months and over the summer....Dead Rising and SF2.

now they're saturating the market.

but it says 22 new skins...not very specific. it's up in the air whether you'll be able to complete any mode without it.

This is what I care about.

If I buy the game for 1200 but the ENTIRE game is there, I can complete every mode, then awesome, I'm happy with the 600 point add on pack just being extra levels and songs.

Now, if the 600 points is essentially to completely the 1200 point game, then I'm passing, more than likely. I'm gonna have to wait for CAG's to test that one out for me first.

The only thing that will really piss me off if they make some of the achievments on the other pack. They better have all of them on the main game.

I'm torn between myself on whether I should buy this or not. I don't really want to support a bullshit move like this, but I want a fun puzzle game to play on my 360 that isn't Hexic.

I'm happy that it has online multiplayer make the game last longer.

If its got the single player of Lumines 1 I'm down. Or atleast something similar with different songs but the same style of songs and not Madonna crap.

So what time does this usually come out in the morning, I'm considering staying awake for it.

from what I've heard, the game lets you go so far, but then asks if you would like to download the extras... don't know how though.

So basically its like how trial versions of games work...awesome..

Eh so this doesn't play like Lumines Mobile with the new blocks (line destroying blocks, matching blocks, mega bomb cubes, tetris style block arrangements). I was hoping that they would include that ish since it makes the gameplay a bit more interesting.

BTW, if you have a celly fone capable of playing Lumines Mobile, you should get it. It's only $6 bucks and while the sounds and graphics aren't nearly as good as any other version of Lumines, the new gamplay features make up for it. I like the Arcade mode with 8 stages (with three levels per stage and a boss after every two stages) and blocks already set up on the playing field. And this is coming from a guy who used to own Lumines on the PSP but just couldn't get into outside of the puzzle and versus modes. I thought the main game was boring.

Funny how the only Q? puzzle games that I'm going to love are Gunpey and Every Extend Extra and they were originally created by someone else. Not that I don't like Q? but their inhouse puzzle games don't seem to hook me. I had Meteos but I just couldn't get into it even though it was obviously a solid title.

From what Apossum has posted thought it sounds like that idea may have been nixed, as they say its 1200 for the full game, and there is no mention of the packs. You think if they would ship it incomplete the packs they've been talking bout forever would be right there with it (and not just the 600 point one).
