Madden 07 Reviews & General Discussion

they just represtent the controller. Like if your on the forth player the controller icon to the right will be the one that moves home or away.

Ladanian Tomlinson just showed up on defense in the second season of my Super Star WR season with the Chargers. He took a pick back for a touchdown, so I'm not complaining :)
Save a default roster by deleting profile or creating a new one. Or use online rosters.
Could you give a more detailed description? For the life of me I can't get these fuckers out of my Franchise, even when I think I'm following those directions. God this game pisses me off.

once they are in there is no way to get them out. You would have to start a new franchise and load you online roster save or delete your profile and save the roster upon startup. Also never save your roster files.

Is there a reason why I keep having to choose my favorite team, as well as download the online rosters EVERY single time I play the game?

I'm pretty sure its saving all of that stuff to the HD the first time.

Well, hopefully we will get GOOD rosters this week anyways, so yes, you will have to start your franchise over to get HOF's out of the game.

I really need rosters and a patch SOON.

Opening Day rosters are out today....no fatigue patch yet. A week or two still for that they said.

Not sure how accurate they are, I guess pretty good.
question.

did madden not have the canadian cfl teams in previous games? i was looking forward to playing with ricky williams
What are you talking about? Is this some poor attempt at a EA bashing/joke.

I think Madden got rid of the CFL teams in 05, last I remember using them was 04. They might have been in 06 and I just never played with them, though. But no, they are not in 07, and that I'm sure of.
What are you talking about? Is this some poor attempt at a EA bashing/joke.
lol no for once not a joke or bashing.

I just thought that cfl teams were included.
lol no for once not a joke or bashing.

The CFL is an entirely different game....wider field, 110 yards (I believe). 3 downs, goalposts in FRONT of the endzone.....different monster altogether.

thats probably what it was. now that i think about it i do remember the european teams in the games. for some reason i got that confused with cfl.

sorry about that

Just when I get into this game, the fucking A.I. has to cheat. You know the other team is destined to come back from a million points down when you can't even hand-off the ball without being sacked, the Falcons' defense conjures the spirit of the '86 Bears, Michael Vick suddenly has the accuracy of Joe Montana, Warrick Dunn is the second coming of Walter Payton, and the Buccaneers' defense is filled with more holes than swiss cheese. fuck this game.

Has anyone had trouble with their profile files corrupting? Mine has twice already and I don't know what the problem is. Everything else saves correctly, and I don't think anything is wrong with my HD. If anyone can provide an explanation for this, I'd gladly appreciate it.

Hate to bump a two week old topic but did they patch the fatigue problem and I just didn't see the update somehow? All the sudden my players (especially the backs) are down to 3 or even 2 bars after a hadnful of plays, something I never saw (or maybe just didn't notice) before today.

If they patched that, maybe they should patch the shitty lag on xbox live. It's so laughably bad i don't even log on to play anymore, i play madden on my psp.

Just saw in LinkinPrime's XBLA thread that some classic stadiums are up at 300 points per stadium... imo, that's a ripoff. I was hoping these things would be more or less 100 points, alternate jerseys will probably be 300 points or something as well.

Did anyone else get rid of this game? I got it, played a few games, but I'm just not feeling it at all.

Yeah I was about to post here, thanks for bumping the thread up for easy access:

Madden NFL 07 Video Strategy Guide - Run Defense (720p) – 160 Points
Madden NFL 07 Video Strategy Guide – Pass Defense (720p) – 160 Points
Madden NFL 07 Video Strategy Guide - Passing (720p) – 160 Points
Madden NFL 07 Video Strategy Guide - Running (720p) – 160 Points
Madden NFL 07 LA Rams Classic Stadium – 300 Points
Madden NFL 07 Seattle Seahawks Classic Stadium – 300 Points

I think that the Strategy Guide videos are more of a ripoff than anything else.

I think all are a rip off. Did they not used to put in Stadiums in the older versions for ummm the price of the game itself. It sucks how the Marketplace is leading to developers leaving out stuff on purpose just so they can make more money. The games are already $10 more...come on. Also paying for alt uniforms in NCAA is a joke.

Yeah, I heard they patched it....but the fatigue is almost "fake". The bars change colors, but they rarely get subbed out. I know you can play with sliders, but those don't work either. I'll try it out...seems to work for some, not for others. OperationSports.com has a HUGE discussion about it.

As for the DLC, that is just re-Damn-diculous.

So far in my franchise there's been a decent amount of subbing at RB, but I think that's because Kevin Jones is a bit of a pansy (I should really trade that guy, especially since Calhoun is up to an 83 rating now). Alot of probably depends on your player, but on the other hand I haven't seen any auto substitutions besides the HB position, like at defense.

Here's a random question though. Can you not do formation substitutions in this year's version? I normally keep people from being fatigued by placing different players in different formations, especially on D. But I haven't been able to find anything that will let you do that in this version.
Yeah, is he HB the ONLY position to get subbed? No team ever plays the D-Line the whole game. Looks like EA screwed up (again).
I think EA screwed up in more ways than 1 on this year's Madden... I wanted to get into the game, I gave it a few games, but paying for things that have been in earlier years (stadiums, jerseys) is the last straw for this game.

Superstar mode is horrible (imo), the franchise mode is bland, they can't even fix fatigue right, it's missing features like owner mode (wtf?), and now to top it all off we're getting charged for things that should have been in there day 1.

Mine is going up on Ebay tonight... I feel bad I bought this game new and supported EA.

I could care less about the microtansaction thing. I never used that junk in previous versions of Madden and I won't this year so it doesn't really effect me as far as I'm concerned. I still like the game, but not being able to do things like formation subs or owner mode kind of pissed me off a little. Superstar mode was little broke last year too IMO so that was no real suprise, to be honest I think they should scrap that mode altogther for future versions. Seems like it'd be fun at first but unless you're a QB or something it's boring and dfficult.

However, you all better get used to microtansactions, because this is the way things are starting to go, it's not just EA but everyone. There was a good sartirical editorial by IGN's Douglass Perry on the subject of microtransactions and the like. Mostly stuff we've heard before but I found it to be a decent read.

No fantasy draft either kind of sucks... at first it didn't bother me but the more I think about it, it does.

I wouldn't mind microtransactions if they were reasonable, like 100 or 150 points. I had no problem throwing down the 100 points for the Saints Row download pack, but 300 points a piece? That's insane.

Yep honeslty the only other autosubs I've seen came via short term injuries IIRC (which would obviously result in a sub wiht/without fatigue).

I know EA sucks at doing anything quality, but why would you want your starters to get tired? I understand fatigue should work better, but personally I wouldn't want to have to take out my best players.

This game sucks for so many reasons, the only reason I still have it is because I'm in the league here. Here are some examples:

- Cheap Mario Party catch-up A.I. - I could go on and on about it, but I'll just keep it at that.
- There are never ANY penalties (especially ones in your favor). Just cheap defensive pass interference calls when the computer needs to come back.
- No injuries.
- When the A.I. challenges a play, the play gets overturned. When you challenge a play, it stands, no matter what. Wombat even mentioned this on the latest CAGcast.
- Fatigue is still nonexistant.
- It's almost impossible for your team to sack the QB, yet the A.I. can do it every other play. There are only two moves for DEs, and they don't work.

I've noticed this one alot in the 3 or 4 games I played.. they had this uncanny ability to always get by the defenders and sack me constantly.

Yeah, one of my favorites is how after being dominated all day, the other teams D-line suddenly has the ability to sack me before I can hand-off the ball on two consecutive plays.

And people can say what they will about the Bucs D this season, but there's no way that after 10 games Simeon Rice, Chris Hovan, and Anthony McFarland should have 4 or less sacks.

What level do you play on? I play on all-pro with 7 minute quarters and I've hardly had problems at all with these things. The CPU hardly ever catches me when I have a 14 plus point lead, I'm able to draw them offsides at least a couple times a game along with an occasion pass interference penelty, I have a fair amount of injuries (though none are ever really serious and the Lions seem particulrly fragile), I hardly challenge because that was always broken in past version so I learned to only try it if it was a game changing moment, I agree with the fatigue problem, I average probably around 2-3 sacks a game and that is with the crappy Lions pass rush. I know this may make me sound like a dick, but perhaps some of these problems are being incurred from how you play the game and not so much the fault of the game itself.

How can you forget about the poor Strafing Speed and the non existent gang tackling? Also the catch up AI is terrible, your rite. Ths game on 360 is so broken online with the lag and the slow clock, that i play the game online on my PSP more often then not.

And the only way i get a challenge is from All-Madden, but it's impossible because unless you know money plays to beat the comp, you won't win because the computer cheats blatently to catch up. I've had instances where the AI on All Madden had a receiver or small back power threw and break 6-8 tackles on the way to 80 + yard plays.

I play with the same settings as you. I usually win (10-2 in franchise), but it's never without some A.I. induced frustration. I have never had a pass interference penalty in my favor. None of my players have been injured, in fact, the only time I've seen an injury is when I was playing someone from the Madden league and took Clinton Portis out of the game. I only challenge important plays but it makes no difference since you WILL always lose them. I can usually muster up two sacks per game, but they generally come on LB blitzes that I call and never come from DEs.

Like I posted earlier, getting sacked about 3 times per game when you try a quick hand-off is ridiculous. That's not a result of my play style or skill, it's just plain cheap A.I., which also seems to muster nonexistant pass interference calls (which is usually the only penalty of the game. I have yet to see holding, face-mask, or anything besides offsides, late hit, and pass interference) late in the game when it needs them. In a game the other day, Julius Jones literally broke seven tackles on his way to a thirty yard touchdown - that's bull-shit. The other teams QB becomes Joe Montana, and their running back magically become Barry Sanders when it needs them to be. I am so sick of it. In every game, I usually elect to kick at the start (or kick because the opposition chooses to receive), well about five times already, the oppositions first play from scrimmage results in a TD (against a TB defense that is still statiscally superior) - predetermined? I think so.

If I completely sucked at the game it wouldn't be a problem, but the cheap A.I. makes it feel like it doesn't matter how good I am. Everything seems too predetermined.

You just suck. ;)

I'm just kidding in case your Madden-rage has caused you to see the winking smiley. Come to think of it, I've yet to get a sack with my DEs as well. Maybe once with Freeney and I had to take a really, really wide route to the QB off the line. With guys like Freeney and Mathis on the ends, you'd think I'd be able to get a few more sacks a game.

The games I've played with the league have been quite playable as far as lag is concerned, save for when I tried to play around 9pmEST, but I'm guessing the servers are just full at that time. After that though, around 11pm EST onwards, it's quite ok.

I can usually get 2-4 sacks a game on ALL-PRO w/5 minute quarters. I'm starting to dominate though with the Lions in my franchise. The fatigue is still not good. The only time my players get tired is after about 10 no-huddle plays. My RB got subbed out once in the 4th quarter. And I ran Kevin Jones multiple times.

Really, I'm playing with the Lions too, my players get tired alot (at least according to the meter), but they just never get subbed, except for Jones. Roy Williams's fatigue moves to yellow if I throw him the ball more than twice in a row. The one time I threw like 4 times to him he fumbled and I lost to the Bears partly because of it so now I'm afraid to pass his way too much.

Well, Roy Williams still got like 7-10 catches for me in my 2 games playing WITH fatigue. I haven't touched any sliders, so I'm not sure if that will change anything.

Ok, the new uniforms are up....yeah.

I was just curious...does anyone have trouble SEEING in games that have LOTS of shadows. Like at Cowboy stadium or in Seattle. I feel that the shadows hinder my ability to see some of the players. I know it's not glare on my screen and my TV is calibrated properly.

I have actually had the same problem as you with the shadows. Some stadiums it feels they made the shadows way to dark. I'm playing in 1080i and my TV is also calibrated properly.
As for the new uniforms I was happy about them being free. Haven't seen them yet though just downloaded them.

Ok, it's not just me then....

I will never play as Seattle or Dallas then. I guess the stadiums that are open, but kinda enclosed are the worst.

You would think they would switch the lights on or something...oh well, I still won :)

doubledown...was that you who mentioned about the stutter of the EA HD screen going away with the fall update? Is it still smooth for you? Mine's doing the huge stutter again and I can hear the disc drive stopping for a second or two. It's very unnerving, but it's only with Madden that it does that. NCAA is fine as is NHL 07.

No, only DAY games I have trouble....I was just assuming a stadium amy turn lights on during a mid-day game. (4:00pm)

Also, my logo stutters again....still plays fine though
