Oh no, YOU'RE favorite death metal band isn't on there! Time to call the soundtrack "for teenage girls!". And where is that indy garage band that only YOU and you're 3 friends have ever heard of? Let's call all these bands sellouts! How dare they agree to be on the soundtrack of the best selling game of the year!

So let's begin the annual right of passage that is bitching about Madden's soundtrack.
who cares anyway? You only hear the music during the menus. People should bitch about something that matters, like paying $50 for updated rosters.
I agree. I would much rather pay $50 for an FPS with an interchangeable Sci Fi setting, where you shoot aliens or monsters.

It is ok that I have never heard of any of these artists or song titles? Wait... there is a Madden soundtrack?

I gotta give a QFT to you my friend.

Seriously, who plays Madden anymore, anyways? Updated roster for 2k5 FTW!!

if only they would keep updating rosters and make the game 360 compatible

If I played football games, which I don't, I would wait a year until they cost $10 instead of $50.

I mean that's a lot of money to drop on something if it's going to become obsolete (you're never going to touch it again) and worthless. That's why I stopped buying Dynasty Warriors games. It's the same thing every year with slight improvements.

This is what I wanted to ask, but you beat me to it.

TBW

Only good rap artist on the soundtrack.... Lupe Fiasco. I dont care about the soundtracks anyway since they only play on the menus.

Better to pay for an interchangable environment than a slightly updated list of names.

It sucks they took 2K games out of the football equation, paying $20 for a roster upgrade and game improvements was justifiable, even if it was only to sway Madden buyers.

I find it very humorous that people STILL sing the praises of NFL2K5, while calling Madden nothing but a roster update. I guess they forget how the only "improvements" the 2K series made in it's final 2 years were an awful first person mode, and the ability to play exhibition games against Steve-O and Carmen Electra.

Get your mind right son! 2k5 had better graphics, way way better presentation(they freakin showed sportscenter highlights of your game using your real gameplay footage!) and it has the best running game that a football game has ever had,(madden still has mario running) the only thing madden was better at was features, and imo was the passing game and that's it!

and the steve-o , Carmen electra thing was just diffrent profiles that you could play against ,where it kept track of what type of plays you run and when, and what was neat ,was when you would play against your friend's profile or even your own profile , the cpu would do similar things that whom ever's profile would do. So if I went for it on 4th down alot , the profile(cpu) would do the same when you play against it.

I just wish that I could take the best of both games and make.....
ESPN 2k7: Madden gets hit by a bus edition.

Every year i swear to myself that last year was the last year id buy a madden game and just live with my outdated rosters but i always end up shelling out $30-60 anyway. Why does it seem like every year has at least 2 or 3 emo bands (taking back sunday, matchbook romance anyone?)
I'm surprise people still remember my posts, since I've posted maybe 10 times in the last month and a half.
um its not that but its the fact that all of your posts are. fuck you I like EA.
We could be talking about cardboard boxes and would you say, if this was about EA cardboard boxes the thread would be 5 pages of bitching about how bad EA is.

I have nothing wrong with someone likening a company but you treat EA like a fat girlfriend, you love her but if anyone makes fun of her you want to go kick their ass even if its just a simple glance.

I'm with VanillaGorilla on this one. Just like "that fat girlfriend" it's cool to hate on EA. If you stand up for the "fat girl" you are no longer "cool"

Video game geeks buy all kind of rehashes, sequals and defend "the new *insert movie game here*" but if they defend Madden they are killing the industry. Hell how many new GTA auto games have came out in the last 4 years? How many did you buy? It is the same thing, different strokes for different folks.

For god's sake the OP is about the soundtrack not Madden coming out with a new game every year.

One, because I really wanted to see if a black person could swim. Best $50 I spent on a science experiment. The reason why people defend other sequels or rehashes, is at least there is a fucking change of enviroment not just numbers on a back. I never knew it was cool to hate EA or Madden. I just do because I don't like their product for the most part. Not trying to be hip and or cool.

Well that was a classy answer.

The annoying thing is that there's now a segment of people who think that saying a negative thing about EA automatically makes you a chronic EA basher... which is apparently the worst thing in the world. I actually can't imagine a better situation for EA -- if somebody says something bad about them now, they get dismissed as a mindless-EA basher so you're left with nothing but positive comments about their games for the most part.

Isn't there going to be an option to turn the music off? I thought it was like that before but I haven't bought a Madden game since 2004.

Anyhow, I liked 2K5 (tried it because of the awesome price) and Madden. Last year though I ended up getting NCAA 06 which was a mighty fun game. Other than the fact they had De La Soul's Me, Myself and I, I didn't care for the songs and I just switched to the marching band music.

The only reason I didn't buy Madden last year was because my brother-in-law had it and we played all the time. Plus, I got a lot out of NCAA. I do agree that the lack of competition isn't a good thing, but since people can still buy 2K5 without paying "$50 for updated rosters" I would think people would still be able to get a decent football game they like.

2k5 was also $20 when it came out, dumbass, and the core gameplay was better than Madden's.

yup...even when it was full price i stil preferred over madden every year..2k2 was incredible

I have to say the core gameplay was a toss up. Madden controlled a lot better on the defensive side IMO, especially in regards to the DBs. I like the QB play in 2K5 better though.

The DB's might control better in Madden, but I really liked playing as the D-line or LB more in 2k5. You could try to speed burst around the end or charge up for a move to power through the line. Same thing with the running game, the only problem there was that it was too easy to break huge runs because it seems like the secondary doesn't react or move fast enough to cut you off. The passing game in 2k5 was much better, as it was tougher to actually time plays and read routes than Madden. In Madden you can just drop back 20 yards and throw a pass up and more often than not it gets caught.

I usually prefer play the D-Line myself but I do switch to DB's when I want to handle defending passes myself, especialy on 3rd and long. It just doesn't seem as intuitive in 2K5. I'd rather not leave it to the CPU.
Why are all of your posts and topics taunting?
It's a cry for attention. You know the kid in highschool that tryed really hard to be different by arguing even when no-one else disagreed, just to stand out? Ding.

Yep, I agree with you there. It didn't seem like 2k5 ever gave you the best DB either unless you started out at the QB before the play. I would always get stuck with the safety, which is no good when a pass has already been caught for a first down and I probably could have at least swatted it down with a corner.

I understand that it was "cool" at one time to hate on EA. However its over and VG won't let it go plus I never jump on bandwagons or become a frontrunner. (favorite two games are Shenmue & Way of the Samurai 2) I have nothing against EA if they make a good game then great I'll buy, rent or play it. If they make a shitty game that appeals to me I'll buy it, rent it, or play it. If they make a shitty game I call them on it.
I'll just say this as my closing comment on my IGN list my "favorite publisher" was EA. (I just sold a lot of my collection though)
2k5 was also $20 when it came out, dumbass, and the core gameplay was better than Madden's.
wasnt that due to a promotion for the fans? every 2k game that year was 20 bucks...i also remember the coke promo which let you get a coupon for the game...

2K5 was $20 so they could actually get people to buy there game. They needed some kind of edge to make sales. If there was a 2K6 it probably would of went back up to 40-50. They just wanted to show people they have a good product and get peoples attention. I thought 2K5 did some things right and I think Madden does some things right. I don't like EA as a company but I',m not going to just hate on them because there EA. If they make a good game I will try it or buy it.
i want to hear the nfl films music
That's all I need to hear in a football game.(music wise)

God, and I thought RPG's were cryptic, what is this? A calculus lesson?

[girl, doesn't like football]

C'mon already. Soundtrack, schmoundtrack. If this was Guitar Hero, there'd be something to bitch about. Another pithy football game that I won't buy because they're *again* going to offer more options on the current-gen consoles than the next-gen? Now that's something to discuss, rather than the soundtrack.

Now, allow me to wait for the predictable VanillaGorilla, who merely wants to be the person to serve as the antagonist of people pissing and moaning about mundane things. It's like trying to be the person who makes the sun come up: it's gonna happen with or without you, and I hope that you choose suicide when your irrelevance becomes that clear to you.

Hey, OP, there are people in the real world you can try to perpetually antagonize the way you do here.

Well, at least EA is smart enough to leave out Freebird.

Ugh.
