Madden 10 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE (Tournament)- LOTS OF TEAMS AVAILABLE!

So tell me what the definition of "cheese" is. I'm not instigating more attacks; I really want to know. Like I said, I'm new to all of this, so if I am doing something wrong or breaking some sort of Madden code, I'd like to know so I don't do it any more.
 
Sood, I've never had a problem with you personally and still don't, but you've got to be naive to think that you can continually run up the score and play with absolutely no sportsmanship and believe there won't be some form of backlash. These aren't random players online you're never going to see again, they're leaguemates that are going to have an input on how things are run. If you want to pass the ball when you're up at the end of a game instead of running out the clock that's fine, but you're silly if you think there won't be consequences from that.
 
i honestly had no prob with sood. idk maybe he was feeling respectful that day but we both played cleanly and he kneeled at the end i think its the way people play for him. this league does get into too many problems with him though... i mean besides cj bs speed he play fair, honestly i am more frustrated with people who pass in the flats every play or run the same play over and over again that they know will always work of which sood does not do

Good input, and I definitely don't mind trying to mix my play calling up. It'll help me learn the game better. I know I ran a lot of the same plays against you, Chop Suey, so I'm sorry if that was frustrating. Truly didn't realize that was a no-no.
 
the only backlash is from cakes with fragile egos.

These guys are not leauge mates they are chumps. I have barely done anything to run up any score. People confess that they give up against me and its my fault for scoring more.

Doesn't matter I am gone after this season.so that seen n8 and lyric can suck ass as much as they want maybe they will find a new scapegoat for the next season.

Madden is not worth this.

Madden isn't worth much, I'm just struggling to make it through the year. Thank god the 2k10 patch isn't out or it'd be like pulling teeth for me trying to get my games in.
 
Keep it civil in here, if it's not too much of a hassle for the people in here.

There's multiple people tossing around insults like they're blameless, and we're done with that foolishness. If you have issues with people, take it directly to them in PM's. Otherwise, don't post it.

If myself or another mod has to come in here to babysit the crying children in here, there will be some people getting the boot in one form or another. If you have issues, act like adults and discuss the issues like adults. Otherwise, we don't need it.

Am I clear on this point?
 
Thanks, Shrike. I'm actually trying to get information about exactly what "cheesing" is, so I am only after information at this point. So please, anyone, can you weigh in on the "running only a few plays" discussion. Is that wrong?
 
lyric, it's pretty subjective to be completely honest with you. it's anything that can be considered "cheap" or might give you an unfair advantage. A prime example of this would be like using Vick on QB sneaks/roll outs in like Madden 04/05. Yes, it's part of the game, but it's sort of cheap to play someone who JUST does that.

it pretty much comes down to trying to play realistically. of course, plenty of people will argue that you should be able to throw to whoever you want or run whatever plays you want, so that's why this is super subjective.

edit: it should be noted that about 80% of the time the word "cheese" is used, it's used by what most of us would call a "sore loser." (not saying this is the case here). but it's real easy to get mad and throw around the "cheese" word when you get beat on aa slightly suspect play, when in reality it's not that bad. (going for it on 4th and 1 is an example of this, especially if it's on their side of the field)

All right, hopefully I can type this without Shrike needing to come in and mommy everybody (keeping this civil and discussing it calmly). If the MAIN defense of somebody for doing anything that they want in a game is that it's YOUR responsibility to stop it, then calling the same play every time OR throwing to the flats a lot should be fair game as well. I agree, it can be annoying, but because of the way some people play, sometimes it's necessary, or even advantageous.

I say this especially because in my game against Soodmeg, he ran LB blitz packages almost constantly. I'm sorry, but when you do that, I'm going to throw the ball to my RB and watch as he gets a 10-15 yard gain every time. If you don't change your defensive scheme, I'm going to keep doing it, (and I'm not even talking about calling hurry ups to exploit it...which is somewhat cheesy to me...although, that's what defensive audibles are there for too) just normal play calls. That's not cheese. That's reading a defense and making someone pay for blitzing. If you don't like it, cover the freaking flats.

It's hilarious to me that we've got people in here complaining about real football strategies, and defending things you'd never see in a real game. But whatever. It's not my issue anymore, and I'm glad I don't have to play Soodmeg again. But based on the way he responds to these accusations, with name calling and insults, I guess I was crazy to expect anything more from him in his games.

I got accussed by soodmeg of this last week but for defense. Would be curious to know whats wrong with this. This is the only time I play madden and usually enjoy the games but I have no intentions of getting very deep on strategy.

Seen, I sent you a message and i been online since 9:15, when we said we would play ? Azu, Seen is really good about messaging and getting games done so i don't want to seem like he is dodging me but, i really don't want our game to be simulated, so can you kick him and allow him to rejoin or push the advance time back until we play ?
 
I thought we were supposed to advance tomorrow afternoon, and if that is the case today was pretty much my last opportunity, being tomorrow i work until 8 pm.
 
Ok, well still i just wanted to post to keep the league updated, thanks for the info itlnstln, ill probably check the forum once more before i call it a night.

And what the hell happened this week? There are like, 6 unplayed games, many being user vs. cpu.

Regian ended up getting home later than planned last night and he's working tonight, so I'm very doubtful that our game will be played. If it is simmed, I just hope I don't take a loss and/or injury like I have in my simmed games against Detroit and Minnesota.

I'm just hoping that people that don't play their games say something. Seems like nobody comes to say why they don't play anymore.

I'd imagine we'll have around 16-20 people for next season. Which will probably result in a very fast season. Hopefully it can go as quickly as "The Replacements" league.
 
I want to apologize to Mr Grand Cru and the league for holding things up; Borderlands has taken me away. I can try to play you tomorrow or drop to let you play the CPU, the choice is yours.

fuck me. I totally would've had a chance with A.P./Brett Favre. No disrespect to Mr Grand Cru, he's a damn good player. DeAngelo Williams lit me on fire for 210 yards off 21 carries. 2nd half was pretty defensive.
I'm mostly pissed about the 2 fumbles, which both prevented 2 TDs and gift wrapped 2 for you. Oh well. I just wish I had a consistent running threat. Everytime I saw Warrick Dunn do something stupid I was like "aghhh Peterson!".
Also, Culpepper is a MASSIVE improvement over Rosenfels/Jackson (as horrific as that is) but is still terrible.

Oh well, awesome game Mr Grand Cru!
 
Hey Azu, wrong thread. :p

I played my game vs Mr Grand Cru, and it was a good game for which one would have thought he was going to dominate. My offense was borderline atrocious as I had 3 passing TDS but had 5 INTS and at least one fumble. I stuck around and started a come-back in the 4th but the onside attempt failed; Panthers prevail 28-21.
 
yea definitely, a good game, Peterson would have def changed the game, I can't wait to see how everything works out next year when you join the NFC south, it should be interesting.

I can play tomorrow if we start by 7 P.M. Central at the latest since I have NHL 10 games scheduled at 8 Central. Friday, we'd have to start by 6 P.M. Central, since I'm going to a hockey game that night (and Saturday and Sunday as well).
 
I'm thinking Friday is our best bet. I'm not normally on at those times. Any chance you'd be on after? If not we could probably aim for Friday at 6

Later in the night is tied up for me. World Series tonight, CAG Hockey Night tomorrow. Considering I'll probably be playing NHL 10 till at least 2 AM tomorrow, I'm not sure how much of a "Saturday morning" I'll have. The OP says the deadline is Saturday at 11:59 PM, but since Saturday is Halloween, I don't know how many people are even going to be around that night. I kinda think Azu should push the deadline back a day on account of the holiday weekend. Sunday at 11:59 PM would probably make things easier on a lot of people. Just my two cents.
