Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!

We can wait until later (10-11pm EST) to advance, but if I don't hear from any of these teams left to play in the next hour then I'm just going to sim and advance us. You guys need to keep me in the loop with what's happening with your games when you're scheduling them the night of the deadline.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong to go for it on 4th down there...at least it's not a blatant disregard for the league's rules like you're making it out to be. There isn't a rule that says you can't go for it on 4th down in the fourth quarter in the redzone. There aren't really any strict rules instructing on when 4th down attempts are acceptable and not...it's a matter of if it would be realistic to go for it in that situation in the actual NFL. I do agree that in this particular situation with around 40 seconds left in the game, it's kind of an odd decision to risk going for it on 4th down. If the 4th down wasn't converted, then the Bears would be down 2 points and would have around 35 seconds to drive down the field to kick the field goal to win the game. But I don't see anything really wrong with his decision with the game on the line there.

But man...you're making quite the run these past few weeks, beating 3 division leaders back to back to back (Vikings, Panthers, Chiefs).

That's not against league rules at all, and if he had kicked a field goal, a touchdown would have won you the game. I would have gone for the TD in that situation as well.
 
I can't really say I disagree with Kansas City going for it. If You've got a chance to put the game away, you take it. Look at Indianapolis vs New England back in 09 when Belichick went for it on that 4th & 2 in our own territory. It backfired, but it would've put the game away.

Edit: silent ghost, I'll be on at 10:30. Hopefully we'll have advanced. If not more than likely I'll stay on until we do.

You guys are telling me that an NFL coach would not take a FG there and go up by 4 with less than 40 seconds and gurantee a TD is needed to win. No way.

I guess I was most upset because my defense came up huge but had nothing to show for it. Oh well. Obviously I was upset but if that's cool with the league I'm just one owner.

I'd say it'd be split at least 50/50 in the real NFL. As far as Madden goes, I personally would go for it in that situation every time unless I had been stopping the other guy consistently for the latter part of the game. But we all have our own opinions as far as what is and isn't acceptable, so that's cool. I was just saying that going for it in that situation isn't mentioned as being inappropriate in the league rules, but the rules do state to play like a real NFL coach, so it just boils down to what someone thinks that means.
 
Yeah that rule is mostly put in place to prevent people from going for it on 4th and long and, for the most part, in the first 3 quarters. If it's 4th and 1 on the 50 yard line in the 3rd quarter and the score is tied then as far as this league is concerned, that's almost certainly a punting situation. If it's 4th and 1 on the 50 yard line when you're down by a touchdown with under 2 minutes left in the 4th, then it would be acceptable to go for it there. It's all circumstantial, that's why there can't be clear-cut rules on when to go for it.

On a side note...any update as to when we're advancing?
 
In my opinion I think some of the more ballsier coaches would go for it. I say that because if you look at it from the perspective that A.) It's only 2 Yards B.) a Touchdown virtualsea eliminates any type of comeback as you would be up 9 Points and C.) If you were to Punt or Kick a Field Goal You are leaving the door open to letting the opposing team win with a Touchdown. In Madden, I'd go for that one. I'd rather slam the door shut and not give the opponent a chance. But that's just me.

Here's one: Would anyone find it acceptable going for it on the oppositions 1 or 2 Yardline in the first quarter? I've faced the situation a few times but I was unsure, so I just kicked the field goal. I even passed one up on 4th & Inches from like the 1. Ha.
 
I dont see anything wrong with 4th and 1 or 2 in the first. If I have faith in my defense that my opponent wont go 99 yards on me.
 
So, Hydro. Rames. Would one of you give us an update on your game? I talked to Rames and he said it was set for today. Hydro posted late last night that this afternoon it was going to be done. It's a big game so I don't want to sim it, but I also don't want to hold up the league for people who don't seem to be communicating on the day of the deadline. I'm not doing that for the Browns/Titans game that's for sure.

I sent him a PM earlier tonight and I still haven't gotten a response.

Yesterday I sent him a PM to let him know my availability and to ask when he could play. He said he wasn't sure about yesterday but that he would keep me posted. The only correspondence that I've gotten since is his post regarding our game supposedly happening late this afternoon/early this evening.

When I got on XBL around 6:45pm est, it said that he'd been off for 2 hours. I was on for sometime and he never got on. I sent him a PM still without response.

It is a big game but I don't wanna hold the league up, I think you should sim it and move on. I'm pretty sure my team would lose but such is life sometime, no big deal.
 
Ramesu, if we advance tonight in the near future, you wanna go ahead and play our Week 12 game? Or just schedule it for another time...either is fine with me.

Going into a Walmart is anathema enough to me. Going into a Walmart in SW Virginia at midnight... No thanks. :D

On a sour note, my fantasy team went into Monday night needing only 12 points combined from Gore and Davis, so of course Gore gets injured in the 1st quarter and they don't let him back in. Therefore my new team name is Gigantic Vagina 49ers. What's worse is the loss is to the guy right behind me for playoff position, so I'm currently on the outside looking in (though I have two winnable matches coming up).
 
Man I went into last night's Colts/Chargers game being up by 3 points (neither of us had any players in tonight's game). The Colts/Chargers game consisted of my Philip Rivers vs. his Chargers Defense...4 interceptions (2 pick-sixes) later (and Philip Rivers scoring a whopping 9 fantasy points)...I lost by like 13. Who would have known San Diego's defense would destroy Peyton Manning and the Colts so hard...
 
I'll sim since Rames is cool with it since he seems to have made the most effort in the recent days. The lady is watching a TV show, but should be done in 30 mins or less. I'll advance us then.

For what it's worth, I was checking Ramesu's profile on Live to see if they were done so I could advance and it looked like he was on for most of the night.

I'm not saying Hydro wasn't, I'm just not sure if he was or was not. There was no need for me to check both profiles.

so it's lookin like my next opponent is MIA(Hydro)... this week is gonna be kinda crazy cuz i'm training new people to take over my old job. I'm getting moved to a new department so starting next week, my availability will be

Monday - 5:30pm - 8pm
T-F - 5:30pm - midnight
Sat - all day (although i'm usuallly out at night after about 8 or 9)
Sun - all day except between 4:30pm - 8:30pm

I wouldn't say Hydro is MIA. He was on CAG earlier today at one point, even on XBL (I don't remember exactly) and responded in thread 48 hours ago. He just disappeared at the deadline. I'm sure you'll have no issues, but obviously keep me updated and let me know if you do.
 
Gore out for the season will probably kill one of my teams. I just traded Benson and Brees for him (Brees was riding pine thanks to Vick and is a terrible 1st-3rd round keeper imo and Benson is Benson). Luckily, I held tight when someone was begging to take Blount off my hands. It's not ideal, but I can roll with Blount-T.Jones-Moreno and start praying for a fantasy miracle. And I just put in a claim for Westbrook so I could put him in too based on matchups.

Wow, I didn't realize there was an Amber Alert out for me (or Silver Alert, considering I'm getting pretty old.. haha).

I apologize for holding things up. I had given my closing shift at work to a coworker because Monday was my girlfriend's birthday, so I was hoping to get the Colts/Texans game out of the way before any of our plans began, but my job ended up calling me in so I had to work it anyway. So apologies all around, to Rames, uber, and even my girlfriend. :p

My track record this season when it comes to getting things together is looking pretty shitty.. and as much as I don't want to, I'm considering dropping from the league. I hate holding you guys up all the time, but my schedule isn't changing anytime soon. I'm not really sure what else to do.

On the plus side, I *am* available the next two days. :D

I have a MADDEN 11 Online Franchise for XBOX 360 that will start November 28,2010. I have a easy to use League website and we will be very ACTIVE with the franchise ADVANCING every Thursday and Sunday with NO EXCEPTIONS. I will be looking for mature adults 30 years or older only who play this game realistically. Myself I am 40 years old and looking for other older gamers who want to be in a Online Franchise with other older guys like myself who play with respect. I have already came up with 12 mandatory RULES everyone must follow each and every game.

This Online Franchise will have the most up to date rosters available. I will use the latest ONLINE FRANCHISE ROSTER 11/26/2010(EA finally updated the online franchise rosters adding the missing players,puting the players back on the game that were once taken off due to injuries). I will go to all 32 NFL official team web sites and make sure everyone has there correct jersey number and then I will add any missing players that I find in the FREE AGENTS that should be on there correct team even if they are on INJURED RESERVE and PRACTICE SQUAD making sure all 32 teams have atleast 55 players. I will keep the ROSTERS updated through the course of the season with what's going on in the real 2010 NFL season.

Ravens/Colts EPIC SHOWDOWN OF THE WEEK tentatively scheduled for tonight. Deuce sent me a PM stating he can play 'all night' after 6pm (assuming EST?) tonight. I can't play til after 10pm Central but I should be free virtually all night after that as well. Hopefully that works out for us.

I should probably practice up so I can give Ed Reed a workout. ;)

Why can't they both be epic showdowns of the week?

Considering the AFC is close as hell, Ravens/Colts has some early major AFC playoff implications.
