Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
This game is fucking ridiculous. Red Worm and I can't connect, either in the league or in unranked.

I am 95% sure this is not on my end, since I've never seen this problem before and he had the same thing happen last week. Looks like a second consecutive sim for me, honestly I might as well just quit the league at this point since EA seems bound and determined to never let me play another game.
dude I had it happen once, we both rebooted and all was well for that game

it's madden, shit happens and it's more than likely not anyone's fault at all

I'm not blaming you.

Looks like Packers vs. Buccaneers is not happening tonight. I got on at the time Tampa chose- 8 Eastern- and he was already in a game for another franchise. He responded to my message asking if we could play following that game, to which I said I probably could. A short while later, his game was restarted, and he never responded to me after that, although he is still playing that game.

It's been a half hour and I haven't gotten another response, and I don't know if we'd have time for the full game before I have to leave at 6:30 (9:30 Eastern) since his game is in the 3rd quarter. Not trying to start any hullabaloo; just wanted to let ubernes know where things stand with the game.
Lions vs Bears (6pm EST tomorrow)
Chargers vs Pats (trying again tonight)
Bucs vs Packers (8pm EST tonight)
Ravens vs Colts (tonight)
Jags vs Falcons
Saints vs Titans

Can I get updates on the two games without a known set time? Thanks. Perhaps we can advance tomorrow night if all goes smoothly.
Jags vs Falcons is set for tomorrow night at 7PM

So assuming Packers/Bucs goes off without a hitch tomorrow. And the Titans pop in here or PM the Saints then I see no reason why we can't advance tomorrow night.

I have way too much going on right now to be active and competitive in this league, so I'm going to have to back out. Hopefully it's still going when I can get all this shit straight, but until then, the Colts are open.

Thanks to uber for running a flawless league. Most fun I've had in Madden in awhile.

Also I want to apologize to Deuce for not giving you much effort at all. When I saw the Ravens on my schedule at the start of this season, I couldn't wait to see how this would play out. But with all that's going on, Madden just isn't doing it for me. You're actually driving on me in the 4th as I type this and let the AI play for me (as they have since halftime, outside of the offensive drives, if you want to call it that. lol)

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how things play out. Best of luck to you all. Except bv. ;) (j/k)

Sorry to see you go man, you're one of the coolest guys in the league, I always enjoyed our games. Hope you can rejoin us in the future.
3 of my last 5 games are on the road... the most important being week 14 @ SD... dammit
If it helps, you're getting me the week before Gates comes back.

ub - If we need someone to step in for Hydro on a semi-permanent basis (hopefully he comes back for season 3) I'll volunteer. I've already played a few games as the Colts this season anyway.

My only issue with that is that right now the Colts will make the playoffs. I don't want to give away games to teams playing the Colts, but at the same time it doesn't make sense for a non-user controlled team to be in the playoffs. My best idea would be for the Colts to become CPU controlled from here on out to prevent that, but I'm up for other ideas.

Sad to see you go. Good Luck and hope everything turns out ok.

I was having some issues at depth for WR since LaFell is out for 9 weeks, so I just picked back up David Gettis who was initially on my team but was released after the rookie draft. Just clarifying that he WAS on my team before since it was stated that we could re-sign any of our previous players...just in case some people don't know who David Gettis is and thought I just picked him up without permission. I wish I had the current updated David Gettis though...this one kinda sucks....I hope I don't ever have to use him :(

Yeah that makes sense. I was looking forward to my matchup with the Colts in Week 14, but the idea of a CPU getting into the playoffs would just be stupid. And whoever would play the Colts in the playoffs for the first round would essentially be getting a Bye which would be pretty dumb too.

Thanks for being a valuable member, Hydro! I can't get all the credit for running this league well. It helps when most/all the members are great as well. Feel free to come back when you're ready, I'm sure we'll still be kicking around in some form. If not, 2012 it is.

Lamest way not to start any hullabaloo. Anyhow, it would be nice if you can be so kind to respond to my PM from earlier in the evening for when you want to play.

I dunno, I think letting the CPU control them would essentially be gifting a win to whoever's playing them down the stretch. Though at the same time, it is true that they're like to make the playoffs at this point. Though keep in mind the Titans were also in playoff position when they went vacant, of course that was way earlier in the season.

I suppose I was just interested in taking them over because I'm frustrated only 2 of my last 5 games as the Chargers will have been played by me as of this week, I miss actually getting to play Madden. :D

Let someone who wants to take them over who hasn't been to the playoffs.
I'm sure someone who hasn't gotten past the regular season wouldn't mind the extra games in. If not All-Madden works as well, as Doom mentioned but, is that even a possibility to even change it after the franchise already started.

All-Madden would have to be for all games, not sure we want to make that change at this point in the season.

I kind of like Darth's idea. Even if that person who takes them over tanks and doesn't make it to the playoffs. It's a good way to not create automatic wins and also not make some weird CPU situation in the playoffs.

So I'd be looking for a team currently below .500, who was with us for all/most of the 1st season we did and who didn't make the playoffs that year. Any takers?

edit: and someone who can man 2 teams each week for the last 5 games of the season.

I would gladly man two teams.

I'd suggest it be someone whose been subbing for the empty teams (since we know their schedule can fit another team in) The decision is yours uber. You're kind of "rewarding" a playoff team to someone who didn't make the playoffs this year (or last year)....lol

Btw, i'm incredibly sorry to see you go hydro...i seriously hope you come back, you were amazingly cool to play with (and chat with!) A great addition to this group, that's for sure!

As I said, I just wanted to let ubernes know what was up since the deadline was approaching, and since I hadn't heard back from you after your initial response stating that you were already in a game. I did not get on the computer or Xbox last night after returning home, but I am responding to your PM now. So ubernes knows, I'm going to suggest that we play no later than our scheduled time from yesterday, so long as you're available.

I also want to say it sucks to see Hydro have to drop, but I must echo his sentiment that ubernes is a very good commissioner. I've probably had more conflicts in here than anyone, and ubernes and I have not always seen eye to eye, but he does the job well.

I am open to taking over the Colts too. I am always available after 6pmEST during the week and all day Sat/Sun. I try my hardest to win with the Lions, but......

i think the Colt's schedule should come into play. 4 of the last 5 games are against teams with playoff potential. Depending on the records of those teams when the matchup is due should be taken into consideration. If the team needs that game to get in the playoffs, i think someone shoud sub for the Colts. If the team is already in the playoffs, i dont see why them playing the CPU matters. Whether they win or lose, they're in the postseason. Seeding doesnt matter much so to waste time setting up a human vs human game for that purpose seems unnecessary to me
They're no guarantee to make the playoffs at this point, there's a lot of time left and the AFC is very competitive.
The only reason why I mentioned someone who hasn't gone to the playoffs is because even if they do win a couple of the Colts remaining games and if they get in, they probably wont be taking the Colts to the Super Bowl. At the same time eliminating the possibility of rigging the games to allow their own team to sneak through.

Just ask for one of the bottom 6-8 players if they want the Colts for the remainder of the season. It'll give someone the extra games/practice while not allowing someone new or better players to step in late and take a free ride to the playoffs with one of the best teams in the game. Greg, Lex, pacer, hot, cobra, redworm, gp, and feroci0us have all been around multiple seasons, never had issues holding up the league, and unless a divine miracle happens, wont be making the playoffs this year (no offense intended, I'm pretty bad at this game as well).

I'm sure one of them or someone else with a losing record wouldn't mind having a 2nd shot at extending their season. Then during the offseason have someone fill the vacancy, (though, I am now proposing no more deuce/cru's friends. They win too many games and that just wont do). :-({|=

It really isn't a big deal if the Colts are subbed-in or just go CPU and get mercilessly spanked. I sincerely doubt that it will have a major impact on the Super Bowl champion outcome either way, I just figured I'd put in my 2 cents at the best course of action because no one really mentioned a similar idea.

I would like the opportunity to have a more talented team than the Rams so I can prove to myself that I really do suck at this game and it isn't just the Rams defense.

By the way, thats a joke, i know I suck at this game.

I actually had a radical idea the other day that if we ever did reboot the franchise (which I suggested earlier, but we shouted it down) that we should re-pick franchises based on inverse standing so some of the players who've been saddled with bad teams can get a chance with the good ones and so forth. Doom has proved that great players can succeed with mediocre teams, but I thought it would be interesting to keep things fresh. I know I'd enjoy the chance to try out other teams, which is part of why I always volunteer to sub in.

16 user vs user games are set up every week. I really don't see how keeping that going is really going to stall anything or how it would be a waste of time. Also the AFC race is so tight I don't think there's ever going to be an instance where a team playing the Colts is going to have the playoffs locked up. Maybe in the final 2 weeks of the season, but even then, who knows.

With that said, I like the idea of gregthomas taking them over. Partly because he said it first, but I also trust in him to be active with 2 teams. Like Darth said above, there's no guarantee that he'll even stay on track for the playoffs and while I think he'll be competitive with the new team, I also don't think him stepping in is really unfair to those trying to secure a playoff spot themselves. So gregthomas, the Colts are yours for the remainder of the season.

And finally, thanks siradam for doing a lot of the subbing as of late. One of the reasons I didn't want to select you for this Colts fill-in so that you can continue with the Bengals.

Now that I like. It would be a fun way to switch things up. A reboot for reboots sake I still don't see the point in, but if we're going to change things up then yeah that could be fun. Not saying we're definitely doing it for Season 3, but I'd be up for discussing it.
Actually, I said it first pretty much immediately after Hydro left, but that's fine.
Hah, yeah, but you didn't meet the other criteria.

The bottom teams could alternate the last few weeks of the regular season to control the colts against whoever it is they are playing that week. If the colts make the playoffs the same bottom teams could alternate until the colts are eliminated. I think that would be the best way, rather than let them be under the control of one team or go under cpu control, even if it is on all madden level. If one team controlled them and did nasty I can see the rukus brewing on the boards, but if its a team effort I would not see why anyone would have a problem with that. Each of the bottom teams has a different style of play and would be a good match against whichever opponent is left on the colts schedule. That is my .02.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sorry, I typed all this stuff and didn't realize gregthomas took them over. Please ignore above.

Either that or assign everyone a team at random, though I think a draft would be more fun. :D I like playing as the Chargers, but I would welcome the chance to try someone else, and it would also give us a chance to get the latest rosters. I think season 3 might be a stretch since so many picks have been traded, though I'd be open to thinking about it.

I'm not a huge fan of fantasy drafts and that would make most of the teams pretty even, which would be fine as well, but wouldn't accomplish what we'd be looking for. Just a quick look through, we'd probably have me, Zuzero, Deuce, sprice, Doom, BigAT, Kay, MasterAwesome and Cru taking over teams like the Rams, Cards, Bucs, Lions, Jags, Bills, Browns, Redskins? I feel like we'd have to add BV and Rames into that bunch too.

I could come up with a system like the FAs and assign based on best overall matched with worst overall team. Or we could do tiers of owners and tiers of teams and do a lottery type thing so it's a bit more random.

edit: siradam, redworm, Superstar, Cobra, Gumbill, gbpackers, gregthomas and Darth would be looking at the group of probably Jets, Pats, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Chargers, Texans, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Packers, Saints, Falcons. These are off the top of my head of course, but just throwing out some idea of what it would look like.

I didn't mean a fantasy draft, I meant a draft of the teams themselves. I'm not a fan of fantasy drafts either, especially in this context.

What I'm talking about is literally taking the owners from most to least success in the league (maybe by aggregate record?) and then picking the teams in that order. So if BigAT has the best overall record, he gets last pick of teams, and so on.

That wouldn't be bad either. So some of the lower teams in the standings could pick and choose, especially if they wanted to keep their team if it's already top tier. Matt with the Packers, Cobra with Cowboys, etc.

Here's an idea: Since so many of us want for more playing time, there's no reason we can't do this as a completely separate league from the main one. Sort of like how we did the Crappy Teams Tournament last year, but in parallel with the current league. I know I'd be fine with having 2 teams at once, and I know others would be too. That way guys like BigAT who love their team won't have to lose them, but also have the chance to take on a second team if they want.

As long as this wouldn't be a "mandatory" thing..... i'm fine with the option for those players that want to switch. I mean, i went from 9-7, to 1-10. I'm sure i'll turn it around;) I'm not planning to give up my team after i get one of the top 5 picks in the draft.
