I think we'd be talking about a total reboot, not switching around the teams in the current league.

The more I think about it I think setting it up as a second league would be preferable, that way we wouldn't be rocking the boat with people in the main league who don't like this idea, they wouldn't need to participate.
 
I've sent the Titans a friend request and an XBL message. Haven't heard a word from him at all this week. I'll be back at my house around 6 pm tonight and am free to play all night.
 
I don't know if I get a vote or not, but I'd suggest that it be a second league. Even though I've gone from mediocre to terrible in Madden this year, I do like seeing player progression and such over the years in a franchise. However, if I got the Packers in the team draft league, I'd have a better team as long as we didn't start with preexisting injuries on.

Tampa and I should be playing tonight at 7:30 P.M. Eastern.

We wouldn't, for sure. Let's gather some more opinions on it, but I think the second league should be the way to go. If ubernes wanted to commish it, it's all his (I, like everyone else, thinks he's done a fantastic job). If he doesn't want to handle responsibilities for two leagues, I'd be happy to organize/run it since it was my idea.

Of course not, I'd hope we can pull in some new people too.

That being said, the current league would definitely still be the main league and I wouldn't suggest anyone quit this one and play solely in the other one if we do it, it's just a chance for us to get more games in and mix up who has what teams.

I think we progress at a pretty decent clip now, considering we have 30 guys trying to get in games every week.

Hopefully the benefit of having a second league would be that the wait to advance would be a little more bearable, but I'd think the timing would be similar.

I do love my current team and look forward to see the young guys progress so I'm liking this idea of sticking to it regardless of what happens with this potential new league. I could probably run it as well. I'm guess we'd probably need a separate thread for it. I know keeping up with this league is hard enough for some though, so we could be looking at a pretty bare 2nd league. And the last thing I'd want to do is spread us too thin and have us hurt the main league in the long-term. Still up for hearing ideas though.
 
Do new leagues require a full 32 teams? I assume so for scheduling reasons, but I've never tried setting one up myself.

I'd think a good number of the guys in here would want to do it, and we could probably count on a new recruit or two starting fresh I would think.

Nope. You can place 32 as the max and then it doesn't matter how many people join. If we ended up having more CPU controlled teams that would help move us along faster.

edit: we should probably start a new thread since it seems like we'll be going forward with this. I'd be interested even if only half the league went over and then maybe we got some new guys. Can I have the Bills? :)

New teams. We're going to be picking new teams based on inverse standings. I'd suggest no one can have the same team in the new league, since we're still keeping the other league going.

ubernes, do you want to set it up or do you want me to? If you want to handle both leagues, go right ahead, but I'm willing to get this one set up and figure out the mechanics if it's too much work for you.
 
BV, you want to create the OP? I'm going to treat the 2nd league mainly as a co-commish or vice commish job. You can run the OP, we can both deal with advancing. Essentially, I can give you all the help you need but you'll be the go-to guy, if that sounds good to you.

edit: answered your question before I knew you asked it haha. we need to figure out a concrete way to decide who can select what team. the draft idea is fine. assigning could work. I'm just hoping Darth gets the Pats and I get the Bills, since we never play each other in franchise haha.

Sounds good, I'll set up the OP this evening.

As for deciding the draft order, we definitely need to come up with something concrete. I wish we'd kept track of all the old final standings, in which case we could do it by lifetime winning percentage in the league (that way it wouldn't be biased for or against guys who've been playing longer).. Failing that, the best way to do it might be just based on the current standings plus season 1's. I assume we still have those in an old power rankings post somewhere.
 
I would be a lot more interested in a Fantasy Draft version of this league. I think doing a 2nd league wouldn't "change" the dynamic enough. What you guys think?

I think it's better in concept than it would be in reality, especially since certain positions are far more valuable in Madden than they are in the real NFL, relatively speaking. Plus it would get confusing trying to keep track of who is on what team.

I'm willing to hear arguments for it, though I strongly lean towards keeping the rosters as-is. Keep in mind the rosters we're currently playing with are several months out of date, so that in itself will mix things up in addition to everyone using new teams.
 
I'd actually be on board with a fantasy draft league, myself. Having another sim league would be odd.

Saying that, however, I'll join up with either league that ends up playing. I generally have plenty of time to get games in outside of weekends I'm in Boston, and my opponents and I generally figure that out pretty easily.
 
Especially when someone decides to troll the league by drafting WRs with their first 7 picks. And since everyone knows that would be me, I think we should pass on the idea. :D

Man...I know it was already decided that gregthomas would be taking over the Colts, but the previously proposed idea that the Colts would be left as the CPU but switched to All Madden is insane. I completely gave up trying to legitimately beat the CPU All-Madden Colts in my offline franchise. I don't know if the people who proposed that idea have ever played an All-Madden CPU team, but Madden's idea of upping the difficulty is just exponentially increasing the CPU's broken tackles and decreasing your receiver's ability to catch balls...basically every facet of the game that you have no control over as a player. I am really against ever having to play an All-Madden CPU in this league in the future.

Definitely sign me up for the side-league too, I am probably one of the most impatient people in regards to progressing in our current league, so another league would probably calm me down a bit. I don't really have a preference on Fantasy draft or not...but just keep in mind that if we do have a Fantasy draft, we're gonna have to go through the hassle again of having to pick a day and time where the most people are going to be available...which will probably result in some people getting screwed over by the CPU...which will probably result in some complaints/headaches for you too.

I'm not a huge fan of fantasy drafts and that would make most of the teams pretty even, which would be fine as well, but wouldn't accomplish what we'd be looking for. Just a quick look through, we'd probably have me, Zuzero, Deuce, sprice, Doom, BigAT, Kay, MasterAwesome and Cru taking over teams like the Rams, Cards, Bucs, Lions, Jags, Bills, Browns, Redskins? I feel like we'd have to add BV and Rames into that bunch too.

Don't forget the horrid Panthers...arguably the worst of the bunch. Not that I'm saying I want them, I'm all for taking up a new team.

I have a idea that may help speed up weeks......... we are all grown men for the most part ( i think) so if everyone could give the commish your cell number and we could make up a list of everyones number so when it comes gametime getting in contact with your opponent will be much easier as well as mass text that could be sent out for any league events , ex. last year i missed the draft because my internet was out and i didnt get to check the forum,so i would like to see how many people would be up for that,i kno some people dont wanna give out personal info,but ive gave my number to a number of my opponents and ive had no problems,this was also help when trying to work out trades and things of that sort, so let me kno what yall think about that idea
 
Yeah I wouldn't mind giving my cell # out...as long as no one in here tracks me down and rapes me!! I've considered it in the past just cause it would be so much easier. I'll hold off until we get a better idea of how many people would be on board for this.

I see we just have the Chargers/Pats game left, any idea when we're gonna advance so I can start scheduling my next match? I won't be able to play Saturday and probably most of Sunday, so I should probably try and get my game in tonight (if we advance) or tomorrow.
