Two major WHOAs:

1) The Bills completed a mother fucking GAME.

2) The Bills won a game decisively...well, actually, had a decisive LEAD for the first time all year.

49-28...or, well, the recap says 42-28 for some reason...huh...

Defense closed it out late. Also, the Roscoe Parrish punt return--I was totally waiting for him to just kneel, then he broke two tackles and got out of the endzone, thought I'd be inside the 5....then whoa.

I COMPLETED A fuckING GAME WITHOUT DISCONNECTING, THANK YOU EA GODS!

My Offensive stats were much better in the 21-21 tie we had going first, but, hey, I can live with it. Sorry to play spoiler bud :)

EDIT: Wow...the game said that punt return was 99 yds, I knew it was more than that--107 in the game recap. Wow. Just wow. And I got an achievement! :D

final score was 49-21..... Don't let the game fool you..i donno why....no way my SUCKY offense scored 28 pts.

not spoiling anything, no way i was going to make the playoffs with my defense playing the way it is. Great game though. That was all you, just completely rocked my team. nothing i could do, i felt helpless.

Your O was great in the two earlier games two days ago. I just had a lucky game, really--I think future matchups with us will be 50/50 at best. The Bills never, ever, EVER play like that. EEEEEVER. You saw an anomaly, my friend. An aberration. A falsity.

I'll look forward losing to you to the same score next year ;)
Packers won the sim game over the Pats btw.
Yay third place! (...this is the greatest Bills achievement in the last 10 years *sniff*...*tear*) [Disclaimer: I am not a Bills fan nor can I vouch for the Bills' achievements from the last ten years. That is all.]
gee thanks doom ;)
lol Just updating the playoff picture. Henne and Marshall are still in it for the awards.

Mysteriously after SolidDragon had thrown another pick on his side of the field already down 31 to 15, he paused then I got a message that said "The connection to your opponent has been lost"...no doubt he logged off or cut off his system he hasn't been back on yet.

I would imagine that if it were an incidental disconnect he would have gotten back on right away and said so....

If you can't handle losing you shouldn't have joined a league....
Man the fuck up!
I would let him win as my only means of revenge on you for that early season loss, but I need the W. :D
 You really did lose. I was refreshing the page on xbox.com, and when I saw Chicago go up 39-38, I went "nooooo!".

There wasn't a count the game option?
Hey pitfall...sorry to be the bearer of bad news but...bears win 39-38. :whee:

Seriously, that was an awesome game.
You've still got the Packers left to play. :bomb:

I was saying the same thing as my FG kick to win the game bounced off the cross bar with time expiring. I knew I needed a few more yards but I had the wind to my back and hit it 99%. It was a 55 yarder.

Which is going to be one hell of a game if its going to be like our first game. I'm gunning for you Matt. Hopefully my Bears will make up that OT loss.

uber you need to drop that kick arrow down as far down it will go, i hit 60's w/o wind...sounds like a great game though...plus i dont know your kicker rating.
There wasn't a count the game option?
There was not. I don't think they give you that option if your opponent turns off the system as opposed to choosing quit on the screen...not sure though

There may not be a real rhyme or reason to it--I got it when the Dolphins and I were tied 21-21 after the 2 minute warning, after the game dropped as any other game would have dropped. He got the usual drop message.

Which leads to the question of the day--would they have credited us with a tie, I guess, if I accepted?

I did actually. I was wondering if I should have upped it a bit to get it over the bar. It seemed to have the distance just not the height. I can't complain too much because as I was hurrying it up with 15 or so seconds left to get a short pass off I almost threw a pick right to one of the Bears linebackers and that would have ended it for me.

Specials teams were my undoing. Two run backs from two different players. One on a squib.
damn... a squib run back?
He lateraled it back. I was actually impressed. Most run backs are pretty lame, sort of tricking the mass of CPU one way and then going the other with a missed tackle or 2 there, but that actually got me too. :applause:

BTW, BigAT is taking over commish for the weekend. I'll still be around if anyone has any questions or issues, but any temp booting BigAT will have to handle.

OH! And with that loss to the Bears, I've lost to two NFC North teams by one point each! They have my number.

I'm impressed just hearing about it. I actually thought about it fairly recently but never had the opportunity to try it. I think that would get my vote for play of the year

Crazy game. Pats were up 35-10 at one point, I managed to get 13 in the 4th and have just over a minute with no time outs left to get a drive going...a CRAZY catch on 4th and 10-ish (bounced off a couple guys, into Lee Evans' chest), left me with about 10 seconds, picked a play real fast, threw it, picked. ACK!

Video for said catch thanks to the red worm (since I can't figure out how to access the saved videos from the game...durrr):

Game was all Pats but the Bills made it interesting. Pats win the season series 2-0, both games similar to this--Pats wrecking me, Bills mounting a comeback, but ultimately fail.

Good games, both of them this year, red worm. Your record definitely doesn't reflect your Passing O, I just couldn't stop it early in both games.

*shakes fist* now we're tied for last again...and you get that tiebreaker....CURSE YOU...

Two other notes:

1) My QBs are god damn terrible. If I throw over 10 yds or so down the field, a good...60-70% of the time they'll air it out and it'll hit no one, occasionally picked. Bills are in the offseason market for a QB, folks.

2) I got in another game  Connection issues going away? Doing the game this late, no one else was on my connection...so maybe EA is really that finicky and the streaming videos and VPNs coming from the other family computers might be borking me. Hrmph. We shall see next time.

Man...I made so many stupid mistakes that almost cost me the game. Gave up 2 kickoff returns for touchdowns and one horrible pick six, and then another 67 yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace where he was really well covered by 2 of my guys but I stupidly (accidentally) pass interfered with my safety but he still somehow caught it and ran for the touchdown. Then with under 2 min left in the 4th quarter with me up 38-35, I threw it down the middle to my tight end for around a 30 yard gain and then the magical LB button does its thing and I find myself losing a fumble in the worst possible scenario.

Luckily my passing game was above average even though Jimmy Clausen overthrows wide open receivers on deep routes like it's his job...which it seems like it is turning out to be. Dennis Dixon must have an amazing Throw on the Run stat cause he was probably more accurate on those than Jimmy Clausen was in the pocket. DeAngelo had a typical DeAngelo game and Armanti Edwards seems to be filling the shoes of Steve Smith pretty nicely, although I do finally get my boy Steve back next week which I'm very excited about.

Another pick with Beason this game...I'll have to see if Ed Reed answers it with another one which he always seems to be doing.

Not to take anything away from the Steelers though...he played a really good game, I just would have been really mad if I lost that game with the way I played. Gg Steelers.

The Chargers officially punch their ticket to the playoffs by blanking the Bengals, 31-0.

The Chargers built up a 28-0 halftime lead before yanking Rivers, Gates, and Matthews. Rookie Jonathan Crompton then showed why the Chargers were babying Rivers, as he lead the team to a grand total of 3 points in the second half, though to say the Chargers were being careful would be putting it mildly.

The D was obviously the story, as the CPU Bengals couldn't get anything going all game. The D notched their first shutout of the year and are definitely peaking at the right time.

Billy Volek will get the start next week against the Broncos as the Chargers take advantage of the opportunity to rest their starters.

Edit: Or not. Don't want to commit to that for sure yet, need to study the potential matchups first..
Ravens still have hope for the division crown, Steelers and panthers are tied 21-21.
The Steelers lost, but if my math is correct the Ravens would still need them to lose to the Browns in order to win the division.

Assuming they both win out and finish 11-5: They split the head-to-head series, both would have identical division records.. The next tie-breaker is then common games, and it looks like the Steelers have the edge there, 10-4 to 9-5. Someone might want to double-check that though.

Doom, I can play our game anytime Friday. Friday night MIGHT be a no go, depending on if we go to one of the high school football games around here.

Looks like no matter what happens, the Colts are the odd team out in the AFC. Too many early losses leaves the door creaking shut on any hopes of the postseason.

Hmmm, I'm supposed to be going to a beach tomorrow for most of the day. I may be able to play in the morning or night depending on what time we leave and get back. If it ends up not happening tomorrow, I'm free on most of the weekend.

I'd be surprised if EA actually figured that into the standings. I don't know what will happen, but it will be interesting to see.

Considering that last year the tie-breaker was alphabetical order, I don't really have any idea what to expect either.

They manage to do it correctly for the offline franchises, so it shouldn't be too hard for them to get it right online.. And yet they always seem to screw it up.
How do we tell who will be avail. to draft for the second season?
You will be able to see the list of players, in-game and on the website, after we advance past the Super Bowl.
FWIW, There is a five-team race for the No. 1 pick.
I'm not certain what's going to be the breaker between the chiefs and myself but I'm hoping I'll get it. I don't know if I could deal with having to lose the ass end of my schedule and still not pull the #1 QB in the draft.

I believe it's based on the strength of schedule. Combine the wins and losses of each schedule and whoever has the highest win pct will get the higher draft pick.
does the draft work like how we did the FA pool first go around?
No, there's an actual live draft.

In my experience the players available in the online franchise draft are WAY better than those in offline franchises, so you can definitely draft some impact players. Last year I believe you could see their stats before drafting them too, though I don't know if that's still the case.
so do we have to set up a day to do the draft and does our team just autodraft if we can't make it?
Yes and yes.

So no hidden gems? I picked up an 86 rated MLB in the 4th round in my Dolphins franchise.

I've had that happen too, though I don't really like it. Definitely makes it an absolute requirement to use the Scouting feature in offline franchises.
