Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!

Scotts let me know when you are free to get the matchup in. I'm on but downloading a movie right now. I'm free Saturday and Sunday to get the game in, let me know your schedule time wise. I have errands throughout the day, but if we can pick a time I'll make myself avail. We had helluva game last time we played, back and forth battle, I'm looking forward to round two and got back some of my cb and fs depth off injury. Good luck to all!!

Huzzah for the Dolphins being the ONLY team in the league with 0 Punt Return Yards on the entire season!

(we also allowed 8628 Offensive yards....jesus freaking wow.)

texans it is... Rames, I got a dentist appointment at 10:30 and iono how long it's gonna take but I'm hoping to be home and online by noon

Chargers advance 25-23 in a nailbiter. Full recap to come soon. GG Zurezo!

Moss and Jammer both got carted off the field though, so that's gonna hurt me going forward.

Its never a good thing when your WRs are forced to play CB/SS/FS due to injury.

I'm not a huge fan of only being able to pick up 1 person all season. If we are trying to make this like "real" football then we should be allowed to pick up a player when lost for X amount of time.

At one point I had Hines Ward, Randel El and HEATH MILLER playing Defense.

Not the sole reason I lost, but it didnt help because then they were to tired to play on Offense. haha

It was a GG though.

AFC Playoffs Wild Card Round

Chargers 25, Steelers 23

The Chargers came into Hines field as a slight favorite, but with only a tie separating these two teams in the standings fans expected a good game and did they ever get one!

The Steelers received the ball to start the game and were marching down the field but the Chargers bend but don't break defense held them to 3 - which would be a common theme. The Chargers managed only one first down on their drive before being forced to punt as Rivers failed to get in a rhythm early, ending the 1st quarter at a surprising 3-0 in a game many expected to be a shootout.

The Steelers drove the length of the field again on their next possession, but a goal line stand held the Steelers to another FG. With the game already under 2 minutes and the Chargers scoreless, they looked to score on their drive to take a halftime lead but disaster struck when Buster Davis fumbled on the kickoff. The Steelers managed another 3 after the turnover to go up 9-0. It was put up or shut up time for the Chargers, and Rivers responded by orchestrating a long drive culminating in a 47 yard TD to Gates. The Steelers had a chance to kick a FG from the 40 to end the half but elected to throw to the endzone, where the ball fell incomplete. The home team took a 9-7 lead into the locker room, but can't have been happy in settling for 3 FGs.

The Chargers got the ball to start the half and marched right down the field. The Steelers almost held them to 3 but Rivers connected with Jackson on 3rd-and-6 for a 17 yard TD. They elected to go for 2 and converted, Rivers to Floyd, giving them a 15-9 lead. The Steelers wasted no time in responding on the next drive, as Big Ben finally broke through by finding Sanders in the flat who took it for a 54 yard TD to put the Steelers back up 16-15.

The Chargers took it down the field again to start the 4th but this time were denied the TD, settling for 3 to put them back on top in this see-saw contest. Disaster struck on the next drive for Pitt as Sanders fumbled after a catch, and Strickland recovered for the Chargers with 3:10 remaining. The Chargers ran on the first play but on the second after seeing straight run coverage audibled into a pass and Rivers found Jackson again for a 31 yard score, to make it a two score game at 25-16. The Steelers did manage to drive the field and punch it in on a Mendenhall run with 1:36 remaining. But with no timeouts left, they needed to recover the onside kick but instead kicked it too short and drew a penalty, allowing Rivers to kneel it out for the squeaker win.

Rivers was his usual excellent self, going 13-18 for 210 yards and 3 scores. Gates caught 4 balls for 106 and a score and Jackson added 4 catches of his own for 64 yards and 2 big 2nd half touchdowns. Matthews was a non-factor, rushing only 5 times for 19 yards.

Big Ben was 14-19 for 257 and a score. Emmanuel Sanders did most of the work through the air with 153 yards and a TD. Mendenhall rushed 20 times for 93 yards and a score.

----

It was an awesome game, I thought I was buried after that fumbled kickoff (I could have sworn I saw my guy fall on it, but it wasn't challengable under 2 minutes). Getting the TD before the half was huge, going into the locker room 9-0 I would have lost for sure.

I hear you on the injuries, I feel like I'm patching together a team at times too - losing Moss and Jammer would kill me for the next round, though looking at the injury report neither of them seem to be on it yet - shocking considering they both got carted off.

Good luck next year, you'll have a chance to avenge the loss during the regular season! :D

I could not agree with you more. I've been making that argument all season to no avail, I still think we should change that rule next season.

You can choose to sub them out, you know.

I had this same issue at the end of the year, Pierre Garcon was playing a DB in all of my defensive sets until I realized WTF was going on.

I can't sub anybody in because I don't have anybody else to put in. I took out Heath Miller for my backup MLB, but I had 2 CB / SS hurt.

Chicago Bears 35, Green Bay Packers 28

Both games I've had with Eddie have been really fun and down to the wire. I almost tied this one up after converting a first down near the end, but I decided to stay inbounds with Greg Jennings and I got hit stuck and fumbled. Jennings broke his jaw. I actually caused a couple fumbles which Chicago recovered.

I'm really happy with how the last half of my season went. I beat or nearly beat some top teams, and my interceptions went down. I think, had I not had problems with my health affecting me for the first half of the season (well, more so than they are now), and had I gotten into the groove of my play style, I would have done a lot better.

Of course, players getting injured hurt me a lot, too. If those things happened and I didn't have games simmed, I'd probably have ended up at least breaking even at 8-8 rather than going 5-10-1. Rodgers had 40 TDs and 20 INTs... I think I could have added 10 more TDs and subtracted 10 INTs.

So the soonest I will be able to play my game when it comes up is Wednesday because my xbox has the ring of death as of yesterday evening I am so pissed but when I get paid Wednesday ill go buy another one. The only way ill be ready sooner is if my uncle let's me hold some cash, I will be meeting with him tonight or tommorow to find out this sucks. Anybody knows who has the best deals on xbox's right now ?
totally unrelated to madden but anyone had a root canal?
Yes.

And to answer what I think would be the next question, it is not as horrific as people make it out to be. The sounds are disheartening, and the pressure is awkward and uncomfortable, but it is not as painful as the toothpain that most likely got you to the dentist in the first place. Plus, the relief when it is over is heavenly.

That being said, I have had more than one, and the little needle that numbs your tooth before procedure hurt a tiny bit, but I want to be clear about this: IF YOU STILL FEEL ANYTHING BESIDES NUMBNESS, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SAY SOMETHING AND MAKE THEM GIVE YOU MORE NUMBING AGENT.

One time, my dentist waited too long between the numbing and the procedure, and I didn't feel the need to say something (it was still mostly numb) until after she started. At that point, I was pretty screwed, adn that hurt quite a bit.

However, when it was done right, not bad at all.

so I won't need to have my arms and legs strapped down before they stay unless the anesthesia doesn't work... is it a long procedure?
so I won't need to have my arms and legs strapped down before they stay unless the anesthesia doesn't work... is it a long procedure?
I don't remember exactly how long it was, but it wasn't long.

And no, no straps needed. You should be perfectly fine.

Bears vs Panthers (being played tonight at 8pm)
Saints vs Cowboys (being played now, 28-7 in the 3rd. Saints leading)
Ravens vs Texans (being played this afternoon?)

SO, I assume we'll be advancing after the Bears/Panthers game then around 9pm EST. I'm trying to figure out who I would be playing. I think the Texans if they win, but the Chargers if the Ravens win? Either way, I can probably play after I advance us around 9 tonight.

Probably won't happen until tommorow afternoon...I'm heading out soon for football (flag) practice and the word I have gotten is that Deuce won't be home until I'm leaving out (around 1)

It's always someone holding us up! :)

I guess we'll need to wait on Cru until Wednesday it sounds anyways for the next round so we're not in a huge rush to fly through this one.

Correct, that's how it should shake out.

I had one earlier this year. It didn't hurt at all, but I was nice and numb. It took about 45 minutes the first time then the second session took like 20 minutes.

I know we're not voting, but my opinions anyway:

QB - Drew Brees (close between him and Henne. Brees having far fewer INTs made the difference). Even though I didn't vote for Rivers, I'm proud he had a pretty substantial lead in completion percentage.

RB - DeAngelo Williams (normally I would discount such ridiculous numbers, but his attempts weren't THAT much higher than the rest of the backs)

WR - Braylon Edwards (I threw out anyone with over 2000 yards or 30 TDs, haha)

DPOY - Ed Reed. Mathis and Beason were right behind him though.

Kicker - Neil Rackers

Returner - Reggie Bush

DROY - Eric Berry

OROY - Dez Bryant, though those two WRs were neck and neck. If Bradford had completed more passes to his own team and less to opponents, it would have been him.

I wonder how effective Hester would be if he wasn't injured so damn often. He was officially out for 2 games, but there were 3 other times where he would become injured an entire game, including one that literally happened on my offense's first play of a game.
QB Ratings for the contenders, for those curious:

Henne - 126.29
Brady - 103.05
Sanchez - 127.95
Brees - 134.24
Rivers - 130.16
Higher than all of them: Eli Manning - 140.28!

Offensive ROY is Sam Bradford.

Look at the position - Starting quarterback from game 1 as a rookie.
Look at the team - The RAMS. I invite you to look at Sam's receiving core (and Avery was injured half the year).
Look at the yardage - Yeah, 30 INT's, but over 4000 yards to go with the 30 TDs.

It is much easier to be an impact wide receiver than an impact QB as a rookie.

Bills got a nominee!

Roscoe Parrish 45 KR 1087 yds 3 TDS/4 PR 110 yds 1 TD

I know he's no contender to the rest of the folks in that category, but, hey...we're happy to have someone up there. :p
didn't I run one back with him this year before you took the bills? I think I ran 2 kicks back that one game.
He did have at least one in that first game. Now that I remember, as well, one or two of my runbacks were called back, so maybe I didn't have as many as I remember. I feel like I had at least two kickoffs myself, and I remember the punt quite vividly.

EDIT: Actually, the second kickoff was actually in one of the many games that disconnected -_- So you probably did have two of those. Geez. So half of Roscoe's nomination is all yours, bud.

All you need is one button to win games....LB...stripping the ball is so ridiculously annoying...it is just complete randomness. I wish they would take it out of Madden...you can play an absolute perfect game and still lose because of it (not that I did...). And the second most annoying thing in Madden is when you get hit as you throw and a lineman returns the ball for a touchdown. And the third most annoying thing in Madden is when your lineman tries to do the same in the most clutch situation and then drops it. Oh well...Bears played good regardless, we had to restart like 4 times because the servers kept disconnecting us. And of course the SS I picked up in Free Agency due to my 1st and 2nd string sustaining season-ending injuries got injured in the 2nd quarter and was out for the game. But it's okay...I had star safety DeAngelo Williams in there to fill his shoes. Just can't wait til next season...

I'd have to agree with your annoying things in Madden list.

Let's add numerous dropped INTs to the list, especially if the player the ball is floating to has an awesome CTH rating. Seems the DLs have better hands than the DBs half the time.

Really? if anything, stripping the ball has seemed to be massively toned down in this year's game compared to Madden 10. I force a fair amount of fumbles, but those all seem to come when I'm not pressing LB. When I do... nothing.

One of the more annoying things to me is the fact that defensive backs drop so many easy picks. My whole team only had 16 interceptions this season (6 by Woodson), and usually, I'm excellent when it comes to that area. I should have had at least double that number, but everyone had butter fingers.

That being said, Madden 11 frustrates and annoys me much less than Madden 10 did. However, Madden 11 has only been out for 2 months. It took longer than that for Madden 10 to make me want to break the disc.

Sam Bradford says, "Bullshit, I didn't see anyone drop any picks!"

All that says is that he threw a lot (5th most attempts in the league), but the award if for quality, not quantity. He barely completed 50% of his passes, and that along with the 30 INTs (3rd in the league) gave him a QB rating of 75.96, hardly world-beating. Maybe in a weak year for rookies Bradford would take it down, but with so many other deserving candidates, I'm not even sure he should crack the Top 3.

But we can agree to disagree. ;)

Hey now, its not like I played bad and stole the victory or something. I mean, limiting Williams to 42 yd's rushing helped me at least.

Also, FWIW, I never attempt strips since I have such horrible luck with it. It always results in a broken tackle and at least an extra 5+ yds against me. But yeah, I'm not gonna argue with the result in the only time I attempted it in the game. Great game, Master.

Oh god, I hope I don't play BigAT4 in the next round.

Maybe it's just mine. I don't know. But guys like Charles Woodson, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, should not be dropping passes that hit them in the chest.

Assuming no Madden funny business, it will be:

Saints at 49ers
Bears at Giants
Chargers/Ravens at Raiders
Chargers/Texans at Jets

Goddamn it...oh well, it was good run nevertheless. At least I gotten better in the game playing against you guys.

OT, but anyone else completely tired of the music in the game?

I think the Strip Ball feature is REALLY hit or miss. I used to use it all the time, and it worked maybe a fraction of a percentile out of the thousands of times I've done it.

Meanwhile, I've had it done to me successfully quite a few times, and it's annoying as fuck.

Yeah. I have only two songs disabled and it feels like there's only 5 songs or so in-game. I've actually had the same song start up again right after it's done, it's ridiculous.

Add in the fact that the songs are absolutely brutalized by an absurd amount of censorship and it makes for a pretty shitty soundtrack.

I'm pretty sure going for the strip increases the likelihood of a broken tackle, so there's that.

I feel like more fumbles are caused by running full speed and using the hit stick, but maybe that's just me.

And yes, the music in this game is roundly awful. I mute when I'm in the menus. It's basically the bizarro crap version of FIFA music, which is always fantastic.

FIFA's soundtrack is always great. I didn't like 10's too much, but WC 2010 redeemed it.

And yeah, for some reason, the supposed "random" music choosing is really iffy with the game. It isn't uncommon at all to hear the same song twice in a row.
