SEA- 41
WAS - 7

Defense was big for the Seahawks in this one. They were able to hold the Skins to 53 yards rushing and 92 passing. Aside from 3 monster sacks from Brandon Mebane the Hawks were able to force 3 INTs (one for a TD).

On offense Freeman was on target making up for the inability to run against WAS's LB core. Rice and Washington accounted for 4 TDs though passing was really the only way to reliably move the ball.

Seattle goes into a 3 divisional game stretch starting with the Rams. Hopefully I can keep playing this well and increase my lead in the division.

-Thanks for the sub GB. You definitely played to win - the surpise onside kick really caught me off guard!

Not entirely true. I thought we played later in the season (b/c we did last year) so I completely changed my play calling on offense and defense. At the beginning I wa trying, but the changes were too much for me and I got down 21-7 early. Around half time I checked to see when we played and realized we didn't play at all. Soon after you scored to go up 21 and there was really no point in trying anymore and I was forced to throw deep (which I don't usually do). I definitely could have played better, but without showing my cards I would have lost by about 14 anyways, so good game, I look forward to playin you in the playoffs ;)

I gotta make the playoffs first :) Trying to avoid my late season meltdown is my #1 goal for this year.

My goal is to improve my record. 9-7 probably isn't good enough to make the playoffs this year, but still.
We have a sub. Aft3rSh0ck24, who has been looking to get into the league, this could be considered a bit of a test run. BV, if you think that's fair.

edit: He's 3-6 in the other league, so seems about right to me record-wise.
Fine with me.

The improvement of teams is definitely staggering. My division is crazy...and we haven't even started divisional games.

Hopefully you all beat up on each other and allow me to swoop in and take the second wild card spot.

Unfortunately - it's not over yet :(

Actually been a decent SNF game. The MNF game is going to be a snoozer.

NBA 2k12 PC is $9.99 on amazon for the PC gamers in the hizzouse. Hated this game during launch, but I think I'll jump back in at this price.

Native xbox 360 controller support. :D I can't imagine playing that with a keyboard and mouse. Makes me laugh just thinking about it, though from what I've read on forums, a few guys prefer it.

Daunte Culpepper you mean  I got to watch him play last year for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL. Sad to see how far he's fallen in the span of a decade.

Oops, yeah I meant culpepper. He's still playing? Isn't he like favres age?

Edit: not even close (34 to 42). I need to do more research before posting. :D

Yeahhhh Ravens! This was my first win against Zurezo in Madden '12...I beat the Steelers once last season but it was a sub game. Couldn't run for SHIZZ but my pass game was pretty efficient although Flacco kinda sucked it up on several throws in the rain. I shoulda had a few picks due to some bad throws and one or two bad decisions, but Zurezo caught some bad breaks...the defender wiffed on one or two interceptions and on the others, Zurezo changed to the CB to try to user pick and wiffed on a couple himself...probably lagged or something. And he had 2 costly lost fumbles (one returned for a TD, and one on a kickoff return that put me in his red zone). That was pretty much how I lost the first game last season (lost 3 fumbles that game), so it felt good to get a little redemption.

Ed Reed with 3 interceptions, Ray Lewis with the other

Ravens 41 Steelers 7

He's been trying for the last few years to make it back into the NFL. He tried out for the 49ers but they passed on him. The Madden curse ruined his career.

He's still relatively young, only like 35, I think.

Oops, only 34. I see your edit now.

What did we learn?

I wonder how this will impact the Pats-Giants game which will be kicking off shortly. Will facing a pumped up BigAT be better than facing a pissed off BigAT? We shall see.

Didn't see anyone talking about this but Hillis got hit by it also. That's every single year since 2001 except last year (brees). I hope no one from the packers gets selected in the near future.

Yep Hillis too. Sounds like he's as soft as Pau Gasoft though the way his teammates talk about him.

Brees (INTs career high) and Fitz weren't really affected. I really hope Rodgers stays far away from the Madden cover.

Rodgers got to be on it next year, especially if they get deep into the playoffs. Trying to think of another inoffensive* QB/WR/RB that's on top of their game right now. Newton? McCoy? Rice? Gronk!? I could see Calvin Johnson in there. Newton would be my guess, with Calvin as runner up. Maybe Foster.

*this rules out Big Ben, Vick, probably Brady, etc.

edit: Tebow would be great/funny, but he's way too mixed. You either love him or hate him (like Brady) so I feel like they'd avoid that type of player. But if it went to a vote again, I can imagine the Tebowmanics getting him in. Hey, somehow Hillis did.

Didn't think about Gronk, it will probably be him or Rodgers. I hope they don't put it to a vote. Hillis had no business being on the cover.

I didn't really account for any defensive players, but I'm trying to think when the last time there was one besides the Fitz/Troy share. Ray Lewis at one point? Revis would've been a good choice after his well-advertised career year. Suh could've been decent, but he's in the Vick/Big Ben category for now.

I think after seeing Hillis win the cover, they'll do away with the vote. Vick placed 2nd in the vote, would have been stupid to see him on the cover twice.

Giants 24 - Patriots 17

I've got to get this out of the way upfront: I am so fucking tired of the ballerina linebackers in this game. Brady threw a pick in the last two minutes of the first half of this game which was basically a perfect touch pass to a wide open Aaron Hernandez, and yet Julian Peterson still somehow pirouettes up to intercept the pass. It wasn't the most egregious example I've seen, but it completely changed the complexion of the game (which was tied at the time) since it gave the Giants excellent field position and an easy TD to close out the half up 17-10. I really hope that's gone next year.

Besides that, this game was mostly lost because my defense couldn't get anything going all game. It was pretty choppy in the lag department, which certainly affected my pass rush, though obviously BigAT was dealing with the same thing. Manning was able to carve up my secondary, which is a rare occurrence, and the Giants also did whatever they wanted on the ground. Not my best defensive showing by a long shot.

Brady was as terrible as he usually is for me when I'm forced to throw more than I intended to, going only 6 of 13 for a TD (on a beautiful deep ball to Welker) and 2 INTs (the other at the goal line when I tried to throw it to White before he finished his route). Losing Rob Gronkowski for the game certainly didn't help things.

Cobie Ross had another good game, carrying 14 times for 123 yards and a TD, but in a game like this it's disappointing I didn't get him the ball more.

--
gg BigAT! Whatever gameplan you used to carve up my pass D, please keep it to yourself. ;)

Bears - 28
Broncos - 27

It was a big offensive game for both teams. Broncos defense couldnt stop the run late in the fourth quarter, which led to the Bears running out the clock to end it. Good game aug.
Will be interesting to see Ross in week 8.
He's a beast. BigAT can attest to the way he's able to bounce off tacklers, he's got a tub of that butter they used to grease Madden Brandon Jacobs in (before he ate it all). He's also fast.

In what's shaping up to be a mediocre season for me, the most enjoyable thing is going to be watching him make his ROY push. I'd say right now he's the clear leader through week 7.
Yeah I gotta get the ball to my TE more! He has no chance at this rate...
Just for fun, the contenders for Offensive ROY so far:

Quarterbacks:

QB Peter Newcomer (Dolphins) - 71/138 (51.4%), 1147 yards, 10TD/9INT, 76.6 Rating

The rest of the rookie QBs have been pretty uninspiring, though the jury is still out on Houston's Clay Harris, who only took over the job a couple weeks ago.

Running Backs:

HB Cobie Ross (Patriots) - 88 carries, 783 yards (8.9ypc), 8 TDs
HB Nyjee Dyer (Browns) - 134 carries, 688 yards (5.1ypc), 8 TDs
HB De'Jon Green (Saints) - 51 carries, 483 yards (9.5ypc), 4 TDs

All three of these guys are having good years, but Ross' clear advantage over Dyer in ypc probably gives him the edge right now.

Receivers:

TE Jamie Brooks (Ravens) - 26 catches, 476 yards (18.3ypc), 7 TDs
WR Dallas Strong (Lions) 15 catches, 439 yards (29.3ypc), 5 TDs

Brooks has a slight edge here so far, though Strong could definitely close the gap.

Right now I'd rate the candidates (along with their draft position):
1. Ross (#30 overall)
2. Brooks (#23 overall)
3. Newcomer (#1 overall)
4. Dyer (#3 overall)
5. Green (#61 overall) - I'm guessing on this one, but I believe he was the Saints' 2nd round pick.

Still a long way to go though.

I guess I'm gonna have to double his production from here on out :( I apologize in advance to my future opponents for running up the score..but ROY is serious business! You forgot about my rookie HB Shakim Simmons though...49 attempts, 235 yards (4.8 ypc) 6 TDs!!! If that doesn't scream ROY to you...then you better lower your standards!

Kilgo still must be up there in rookie WR stats but he'll slide out pretty quickly and stay there unless he goes crazy in the last couple games of the season.
I believe Green's numbers were from 3 games only, he's out for most of the season unfortunately.
Ah, I didn't realize that.
Kilgo still must be up there in rookie WR stats but he'll slide out pretty quickly and stay there unless he goes crazy in the last couple games of the season.
Yeah, he's up there, but I couldn't include everyone, and I did remember he was injured.

Ross has actually inched into 5th in the league in rushing among all backs. He's still a ways behind the top 4 guys, but he didn't start until game 2, and also has a higher ypc than anyone but McFadden and (duh) Charles among the league leaders.
Will be interesting to see Ross in week 8.
Weird, for some reason I thought I played the Chargers before you, I guess I had them reversed in my mind. FYI, tomorrow night is probably going to be better for me than tonight, but I'll see if I have time to squeeze it in if you're around.

I'm glad Dyer is having a good season, but losing my receiver for half the season is killing my win/loss record. If I can get to around 8-8 or so this year I'd be happy.
BV, Tuesday night would work better for me as well. My last exam is tomorrow so I won't really have the time tonight.
Sounds good.

I'll be studying for my exam in Doomology. ;)

I'll be away from Tuesday afternoon to Monday afternoon, so I'll probably miss a week (maybe two). I could play the Jets late tonight if we advance.
Speaking of free agents, are we doing that any time soon?
Missed this yesterday.

No, I don't think so. I don't really see the need for it to be honest, nor have I heard people clamoring for it. I'm not saying we won't do one for sure, but right now I'm not planning on it.

Eww. Now I'm glad we traded him. His jolly fatness is what made him likeable.
