Honestly, I don't really get the "rich are always getting richer" argument. I mean - I had a HORRIBLE season with the Vikings and I am trying to do all I can to give my team a shot at a better season, but I also can't fault other people with better players than me for trying to improve their teams as well.
I was a part of the notorious AP trade last season. A lot of people had a huge problem with it, even though it was approved. I got tons of PM's telling me I was crazy for that trade, and to be honest I think a lot of the hostility was because only one person asked me about a possible AP trade, and nobody else thought of it first.
The trade worked out great for me. Haynesworth was stuffing a lot of running backs who we're trying to run inside on me. Truth be told I am horrible at running the ball and I was getting hardly any yards with AP, but when I got Woodhead I got a spark in my running game and before he got hurt, he was VERY productive in the run game, and also the passing game. Oh, that first round pick I got that BV got from the Bucs? I ended up getting Steve Smith, who will finally fill the star receiver spot that I didn't have all of last season.
So when you break it down : I lost a player who I clearly didn't know how to use correctly (AP) and gained an inside run stopper, an excellent back\reciever, and a number one wide out option which I was lacking. The trade may not have been popular, but it did work out greatly for me, even when a lot of people said the trade only favored BV.
This post deserves a gold medal. Honestly, that was a.fantastic deal for both of us, and nobody but us will ever realize it because I got the superstar. The Samuel trade is the same way, Branding Spikes progressed a ton this season (and Samuel regressed). But the name went the other way. Even if every single player gb gets here becomes a star, this will still be "when BV stole Roddy White" to some.
