Madden 12 Official CAG League - On official hiatus until Madden 13.
I tend to agree with Sprice fellas. A lot of this could be handled via PMs, including bringing it to the attention of our commissioners.
I have no issue with it being brought up directly in the thread, I'll never pass up a chance to remind players about our 4th down rules. Nobody should be unclear on them at all at this point.

That said, even when raising rules issues people should be civil in the thread and avoid name-calling, etc. I've been pretty clear on this as well.
shit happens its a stupid mistake ill contact mog and tell mailman and ballsohard to think over there play calling..
I appreciate it, if these things can be handled without action from the commissioners being necessary, that's all the better.. However, it's not just "think over their playcalling" though and more like "don't do it." ;)
yea thats plenty of time...but then again if ur playin a cheeser who milks the clock its only 8 minutes. hate ppl who do that...i get running some clock, but milkin it all the way down in the third quarter is for the birds...if i have a lead in the 3rd and i wanna run clock, youll know it, but id never run it under 5 second and thats even way too much for me...ill pick my play normally and just run like 10 seconds or so, pretty lame to sit there for 30 seconds in the 3rd quarter deliberatly. bush league IMO, but thats jus me
How is killing the clock when you're winning any more "bush league" than running a hurry up when you're losing? It's essentially the same thing from each perspective: manipulating the clock to apply extra pressure to the opposing team to try to stop you. If one is "frowned upon", both should be.
Yea, dmailman you played like an absolute bitch yesterday....contemplated quitting in the first half because he went for it 4th and 8 on my 35. Really laughed at the hole situation...a mutual friend of both Bseti and i was at my house at the time....even he asked if he was allowed to go for it in that situation...in which i laughed and said absolutely not....
4th and 8 on YOUR 35? Maybe I'm alone here, but to me that seems reasonable. He's in no man's land. If he doesn't have the confidence in his kicker to hit a 52 yard field goal, he doesn't have much to lose by going for it. Unless he's great with his punter, all he could be giving up is 15 yards. Without a strong legged kicker, I think a lot of coaches would go for that. How many times have you seen a team punt inside their opponent's 40?

If he can't hit a 50 yard field goal inside of a dome, it should not be my problem, you don't see any nfl teams going for 4th and 8 down 3 in the first quarter.

To me it's the field position that makes the difference. If he attempts the field goal and misses, he's giving you the ball at the 42...so that's even worse. I agree that the yardage makes it a passing down (though with the way people run in this league...maybe not), and that makes it less likely to pick up. But still 35 yard line...who punts from there?

For example, the Jets kicker, Nick Folk, is a 65 OVR, with 88 kicking power and 82 kicking accuracy. I wouldn't feel comfortable kicking that with him. But I wouldn't feel confident in pinning you inside the 10 either. That's what makes it no man's land for me. There's no good answer, and turning the ball over at the 35 isn't the worst thing in the world, so might as well roll the dice.

Nate Kaeding is one of the highest rated kickers in the game, he's more than capable of hitting a 52-yard field goal in a dome. If the game was later and the score difference wider, I wouldn't have an issue with going for it there, but early on in a 3-0 game that's a pretty clear kicking situation as far as I'm concerned.

True. I was more thinking of my kicker in that situation. I wouldn't feel comfortable kicking it with Folk. I just think there's a lot of cherry picking rules in this league. "Oh, this is fine...but that's HORRIBLE!!!" Or "as long as you don't do it ALL the time". Too much gray area. It's not like he went for it at his own 35...or even the 50. I ask again, how many teams would punt at their opponent's 35?
35 yard line...who punts from there?
People who have been abiding by the league rules and don't want to risk missing a field goal. My kicker for the past three years had an 88 KPW Vinatieri, also kick accuracy doesn't matter too much when you are the one controlling the kicker.
People who have been abiding by the league rules and don't want to risk missing a field goal.
That's fair. Just offering an opinion. I might have done the same thing...not out of being a dick. But just because if I ended up giving you the ball at your own 35, I wouldn't feel completely screwed. Only reason I commented on it. I will say though. If I had Kaeding, I would have kicked the field goal. No question.
I ask again, how many teams would punt at their opponent's 35?
None, I definitely don't think he should have punted. If the game were played in the rain or gusting winds, I wouldn't have an issue with going for it there, and would probably do it myself (or take a delay of game and then punt, depending on the situation).

But in a dome with a good kicker, that's definitely a situation where you kick it. It's not as egregious as the non-punt in the other game, but it's definitely something he should do differently going forward.
I must have read that wrong then. Didn't realize he was at your 35. At that point, I would have kicked the field goal.
Sorry Doom and Damailman. When me and Widdow spoke about it, I was 100% sure he was saying it was on Damailman's 35. Hence why I was all like wtf...

Whoops.

i missed a 53 the other day against the saints with 98 kick power... ill always kick one if its out of range id go for it the second time.. i didnt realize he was on ur 35 i thought thay this was questionable on ur kicker but up to the player to make his decision cause unless ur up y punt from there 35

i hate field goals and punting i cant tell u how many times if missed extra points due to lag... or even wen i played matt our first season. he scores in the 3rd quarter to go up by 7 kicks off holds me to 4th and a couple yards i punt it lags and i get a 10 yrd punt givin him the ball on my 25 up by 7... i understand and like the fairness rules but kinda due to the gray area every time these situations come up some of us side its okay and the others think its rediculous.... mayb list certain situations... like i said from the 37 ill try a field goal once if i get good kick power and miss depending the score the next time id fo for it losing or punt winning

Still, i suffered through using Vinatieri for 3 years not being able to hit over 55 yeard field goals....it was an absolute kick the field goal situation...and it had a huge impact on the game he scored his only touchdown on that drive!!

I thought it was in the 1st quarter? According to the box score, he didn't score a touchdown until the 3rd, when the score was 3-3.

Looking at the box score it looks like he didn't even convert the 4th down attempt which he went for, it lists him as 0 for 1.

Here's the team summary for the game:

I still think it's an obvious kicking situation, but just want to make sure we're clear on the game situation.

o my fault didn't realize i couldn't go for it. i have zero confidence in my kicker when he is kicking from that far. i just felt the need to score due to the fact that he was slowing the game down and i wasn't going to get many positions. furthermore i don't have a good history of kick i got two fuck extra points blocked lol. but its whatever i know from now on to kick the field goal.

like i said i wasn't even going to bring it up, but since LV did, i felt the need to chime in...it was a good game, if i didn't kick a field goal by accident without lining up it could have been a different game.
Lol possibly the worst call out in the history of the interwebz
I think he had a personal issue not sure though.

i think it was more of his gf made plans for his set time but he played his game earlier... i dont think it was nething major....
Yeah true, but I think the team we have now can finally reclaim the AL West and make a push for the title. We have a lot of depth now that Kendry is back and our rotation is one of the deepest in the league.

And yeah I love that stadium. I go to a few games every summer. Now Dodger Stadium... that place is a dump.

I'm on a mission to go to AT&T Park this season. Might as well since I'm in the area.
I went to Pac Bell Park about a decade ago, it was a great experience.
-Dodgers under new ownership, team just sold for 2 billion.
I went to Pac Bell Park about a decade ago, it was a great experience.
For sure, beautiful place. My favorite place to see a game is still Camden Yards, which works out well since it's the park I go to most often.

I do really like Nationals Park too, and my company has fantastic seats which I'm able to get a few times a year.

Can't beat seats on the company's dime...I have yet to see a game at Camden...maybe this summer i will take a trip down to Maryland for golf/Red Sox game....if i do we should get a round of golf in.

Baseball starts, the masters, then the NFL draft. April is always a good month, even though the weather historically sucks around here for the time period.
