New England Patriots 24 - Pittsburgh Steelers 21
The 6-0 Patriots came into Pittsburgh perhaps a bit too proud and swagger-filled, and were promptly served a slice of humble pie by the Steelers, who came very close to serving up the upset as well.
Things certainly started well for the Patriots when Asante Samuel picked off Big Ben on the first drive, which the Pats quickly converted into a McCoy pass to Gronk. The Steelers were undaunted though, and marched down the field in response, capped with a 1-yard score by Mendenhall.
The Patriots' next drive stalled after a strip sack of McCoy (Ross was able to scoop it up) and they settled for a Gostkowski field goal before Mike Wallace took the ensuing kickoff 101 yards to the house. The Patriots were marching for the go-ahead score when Cobie Ross was tackled on a long run by the last defender who also forced a fumble, which the Steelers recovered. The Steelers took the ball down the field by Big Ben was once again intercepted by Samuel, who this time took it back for 6. The Steelers very nearly scored to end the half, but with 9 seconds left in the Red Zone elected to run one more play, which Jerod Mayo intercepted. Ended up being a huge play in the game.
The Patriots were driving again to start the third, but Ross was stuffed on a key 3rd-and-1 and also coughed up another fumble, giving Pitt the ball. The Steelers converted with a great drive and a 1-yard run by Johnson.
Things looked dire in the 4th when McCoy threw a rare interception (which was also his only incompletion of the day). The Pats were able to keep the Steelers from running out the clock however, and after getting the ball back Cobie Ross atoned for his earlier fumbles by ripping off a 37-yard TD with 1:28 remaining. Terrance Carswell sacked Big Ben on the first play from scrimmage, and then Jermaine Cunningham picked him off to give the Patriots the ball. The Steelers still had all their timeouts, but after 2 unsuccessful runs by Green-Ellis leading to 3rd-and-14 Cobie Ross took a draw 14.5 yards to seal the game.
McCoy was 11 of 12 for 129 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. I can't give him too much crap for the turnover though, it was a dumb throw into double coverage.
Big Ben was 9 of 16 for 173 yards but he tallied 4 INTs.
Cobie Ross had a strong game statistically, carrying 20 times for 223 yards and a score. The fumbles really hurt, however I can give him a bit of a pass thanks to his two huge plays down the stretch.
Mendenhall carried 15 times for 60 yards and a TD, with FB David Johnson getting the other TD.
Demaryius Thomas was the leading receiver for the Pats with 6 catches for 77 yards. Gronk had 3 for 30 and the score.
Heath Miller had 78 yards and Antonio Brown had 74 for the Steelers, Wallace was held in check.
Terrance Carswell had 6 tackles (5 solo) and a key sack to continue his streak of having either a sack, INT or FF in every game of his rookie season. Samuel had the 2 picks, one for a score, and Mayo and Cunningham also had big interceptions.
The Steelers got fumbles from Woodley, Timmons (who was knocked out for 8 weeks with a broken collarbone) and Clark and a pick by Cortez Allen.

Awesome game pitfall! You gave me all I could handle, it really could have gone either way. Crazy game with all the turnovers, I'm just glad I was able to survive.
Pats match their franchise-best start at 7-0. They started 7-0 last season as well before falling to the Jets. They head into their bye in advance of a key matchup with the 5-1 Dolphins.
