Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!

Well, if Madden's going with tuner sets, get ready for the game to be unstable as hell for the first 2-3 months. The NHL series has used these for awhile, and one week, it'll be impossible to score, the next week, players will just stand around doing nothing. Basically any time the EA message boards go crazy, the entire game could change (I think NHL 11 had 7 or 8 tuner sets before they finally stopped tinkering with it). It definitely gives them more flexibility, but it also makes it that much easier to ruin the game. By the time the dust settles, sometimes you end up with a game that plays nothing like it did at launch. I guess that can be good or bad depending on your perspective.

Conversely they only released two for NCAA 12 and everyone complained.

Personally I think we should come up with a slider set and ignore the tuners.

That's the tentative plan, though obviously it will take some tweaking, especially early. After the initial adjustment period though, I think we might try to make minor adjustments each offseason.

Maybe we'll have a "Slider Committee" with the commissioners and a few league members in which we decide what the settings should be and also eat tiny hamburgers. :D
 
Sliders are a mess right now as well. Every time I tinkered with them in the demo, the difficulty would change to rookie. So you'd have to manually go in and change it back to All-Madden. It no longer felt like All-madden though, even after messing with one slider.



Also keep in mind the playoff overtime rules are now part of the regular season. The first team with the ball can no longer win by a field goal.

Completely forgot about that until I read it this morning.

Assuming you're saying we should leave it as-is in the game, I agree. Though I'm not sure you're the most objective voice since you stand to gain the most from it. ;)
 
Well I've given up on the Chiefs, yes i know it is still the preseason. Hopefully I can get them to the playoffs in Madden. A few fun facts -

1. HC/DC and OC are all Browns castoffs
2. Backup QB - Browns castoff
3. Second RB - Browns castoff
4. Starting QB - never played a single down in college
5. Just got done watching Sportscenter Top 10 Preseason plays. Chiefs defense (the supposed bright spot) got owned on three plays. John Andersen refers to them as the chefs.

I haven't been in a CAG league in a while but Cru and Neworl can vouch for the ass kicking! :lol:

and of course I'm just getting everyone riled up because every league needs a loud mouthed trash talker who isn't very good at the game :)

Update

bv im suppose to leave for my deployment on thursday pending a few things to include the hurricane and other possible things as well. but if i do go my return date is between the time of september 22nd-24th so if u guyes start on the 11th of september i should only miss about a 2-3 weeks of of our regular season 4 tops i would guess

also on a side note

bv can u make the op to where we can click on the names of the people in this league to send PMs just curious lol made it really easy last year

Has a rule's set been developed yet? Specifically QB swapping, are we keeping it the same as last year - any QB as long as they are in for the entire drive?

I say we dont have that rule this year I dont even know why it was a rule last madden

becuz it came off as cheap switching in a fast qb real fast to run with him and the person ur playing not really noticing

You should know what the team you are facing has and be prepared IMO kind of a crappy rule.
 
but certain playbooks have formations for the 2nd qb to be in... so it goes both ways.... jets playbook thay i use must of put in a tebow package

It was put in place because you can't see which QB is on/coming onto the field. In the NFL teams can sub based on who is on the field, you can't do that in Madden.

That is true. Last year they had Bronco Heavy which automatically put Tebow in. That package has been moved to the Jets PB.
 
Also some people would switch the number of they're QB and if we have edit turned on I'm sure people will change the last name's of player's.

I know people changed number's last year. So I was playing UFC and fought this guy with a created fighter with an overall of 224 I would think EA would patch something he knocked me out with one punch needless to say..
 
Will the league be set up tommrow so i can put my team on auto pilot and just not run the league until the patchs are fixed and everything first patch fix is 9/11
 
I don't know if anybody over here has noticed this, but while EA did take out the surprise onside kick....every onside kick is a surprise now because the game no longer lets you know that your opponent has chosen onside kick before you pick your return formation. It just says "Kickoff" no matter what. You can imagine how much fun people have with that in ranked games.

I'm hoping to have the rules ready by the time we start. It's tricky since I'm going on vacation, I'm hoping uber/fero will pick up the ball on that (hint, hint). Unless something to do with it has changed, QB hot swapping will still be banned.

You probably wouldn't think so if you'd been in the league last year and saw the reasons for it. Others have explained it well I think.

Nope. The league won't be set up until after the first roster update, which we're hoping will be around the same time as the patch.
 
I think we need to find the fine line between 'hot switching' QBs and being able to use your team's full playbook. I don't want to have to keep Tebow in for a full drive, just because I want to run 1-2 packages every few drives.

edit: Though, I'm sure it could be solved by notifying your opponent on the mic or if Madden reveals the package as 'wildcat'. Not sure how it looks in game yet.

Wildcat plays were exempt from the rule last year, so I think that should obviously be the case again. Seeing "Wildcat" on the screen is more than enough notice, especially when it comes to the Jets.

It's only when you sub a QB in mid-drive into any old formation that you need to notify your opponent.

jets playbooj which i use even before this madden has 2 other formations that sub in the back up qb besides wildcat.....how will u react to that i dunno what it calls the formation....i mean u coukd always swap ur stRter in i guess but if u have tebow tyrod taylor it would take away from the playbook
