My local Gamestop had about 30 in a floor basket. I went through each one and picked out the best case & manual lol. Even for $1.00 I want my stuff to look nice.
I normally don't shop at Gamestop ever, unless there's something like this- because I hate the way they do business with gutted games as new and letting employees sign out games for a week and then bring them back & reseal & sell as new. (I knew several Gamestop managers, so I know for absolute fact that this happens).
The two sales people working were very aggressive trying to sell me every new release and preorder every new game, even those without a release date.
But I will say this- for all their aggressiveness (I know they have quotas to meet) he did notice I was holding MAG in my hand and he told me it was only .99 cents (it was stickered at $54.99) and explained to me that it was an online only game, and there are rumors that the servers are getting shut down, and if its true I won't be able to play the game anymore. But he told me to keep my receipt and if the servers go down within the next 7 days, I can return the game for a full refund.
I already knew everything he told me, but I thought it was nice he was explaining to people buying a $1.00 game that it might not work soon, so I had a very positive experience.
Also, I really looked around for something else to buy because I didn't want to just buy MAG, but I couldn't find anything I wanted, so I just stocked up on some Microsoft Points.
You can't have it all. You don't like GameStop practices of selling gutted games as new but you don't have a problem picking the best case and best booklet for a $.99 game. Also, people dont seem to have a problem when new games get converted to used.

Why was their approach aggressive? Did they persist over and over where it got annoying or was it a simple question of preordering a couple of games? I have been to at least 20 different gamestops in 4 states and I have never been harassed to preorder a game. They get the point right away by my response.
I was an employee of GameStop for almost 2 years and it is prohibited to take games home. HR has a code for termination if someone takes games home. If a manager gets caught doing this or allowing this they will be fired and their term code will say "took merchandise home" (or something along those lines). Employees were able to do this in the past but a policy was implemented by HR against this.
