Which is ok by me. I'm excited to have a non-Mode7 handheld Mario Kart. :whistle2:D

If you want, I'll edit the original post here to have people's tags in it, or we can start a new post, whatever.

Yeah, pretty much just to see your position on the track and the standings. Supposedly if you get hit with the "ink" powerup, you can try to drive using the bottom screen as a guide until the upper screen clears.

I love this series, and I own every iteration besides Advance. I'll definitely be picking this up, as it's one of the main reasons I bought a DS.

How does online play work, exactly?

it would be cool if there was a shell of some sort that let you target another player. Let's say you don't like the guy who is racing as toad, but he's 3 ahead of you, not 1. You get this shell and select him the touch screen and the shell will by-pass the other two and hit toad. that would be kind of cool.

I remember seeing a screenshot that showed three different power-ups on the bottom portion of the screen. I assumed that you could pick up multiple shells, bananas, etc. and select which you wanted to use by tapping the touch screen, but I guess I was wrong.

Yes, yes it is. You'll love it.

I'll list my ID or whatever when i get it. It's pre-ordered at Gamerush, so i'll at least have it the week it comes out.

I love my DS :)

I think you might be thinking of the New Super Mario Bros. shots that has some mushrooms and fire flowers in the inventory on the bottom screen.

I can't wait for this game. I have it pre-ordered at TRU. definitely excited that we are getting closer to it's release. I also can't wait to try out the wi-fi connection, assuming Nintendo releases the adapter on their site prior or close to the Mario Kart release date.

From my understand it's has an opti-match feature and a buddy list.

I'm getting my girl a Mario Kart DS Bundle so we can play a game we both like while we're apart.

I'm excited. That means I can play something other than Yahoo Pool. lol

well done! I got my girl hooked on Dr. Mario while she was here. She went from never seeing the game to being able to hand my butt to me in like 3 days.

I'm afraid to see what'll happen when my girlfriend gets a hold of this...what happened with Meteos just wasn't right. Oh god, the meteos...

Anyways, can't wait for this. We've only got about two weeks!

That USB dongle adapter dealie...any info on when/where we can get one?

I am on board also... I have been behind on the online department unless you count the original Doom back in the 90's.

Now with Wifi hotspots I can actually test my skills against other CAG clan members...

only a few weeks!

I'm also curious about the WiFi USB adapters. Anyone have word on when those are available for purchase from Nintendo.com?

Probably the 14th, when they make the official WiFi announcement.

I'm excited obviously, but I'm still disappointed in these pixellated graphics (is that Wario Stadium??)

That is basically PS1 ugly. It's too bad the DS can't handle texture filtering that the N64 could. It would've made a huge difference.

Does Toys R Us take preorders? I'm thinking I might go preorder this tonight, since TRU is the only place in my area that seems to get things in stock right away (only place in Milwaukee I found to have Prime Pinball and Castlevania right away.

yea, i might get the mario kart DS bundle when it comes out...i've been waiting to see how online fares on the DS and on PSP to see if either is worth it for me...
What's up with the Spanish in those pictures? I expected Japanese... but Spanish? Hmm.
it does look kind of fake. the shells around bowser look like they were pasted on with ms paint.

wario stadium isn't in the game.

Nope. There is a wario stadium but it's not the one from N64.

Yeah and notice how theres nothing in his item box...the triple shell always shows how many shells you have left.

I've got this game on pre-order but I was disapointed to see the crappy double dash style carts return, I thought they were going back to the old school "cart karts". Peach is shown in a tank? DK on a motorcycle? Retarded.

they take pre-orders only on stuff they get pictured tickets for. they are currently taking pre-orders for Mario Kart DS. just ask one of the r-zone employees for one of the tickets.

I thought it was single kart racing. I know I remember seeing a Demo video back at E3 2004 where it shows MK:DD style....but that has changed back to the N64 type of game.

Its single carts in this game

And they have more than one cart. A normal one and a special kart.

thats a hell of a lot of tracks, that makes me very happy

The 3 shell item disappears from your box when you set them spinning around you so that you can pick up another item in reserve (assuming it's working like the other Mario Kart games have since 64).

thats a damn lot of tracks, but I'm honestly disappointed with some of the classic selections. I was a huge fan of mario kart 64... and I feel that the tracks they picked from that game were actually kind of weak compared to the other options.

no big though! with 32 tracks, i'm sure to find some replacements.

oh, and i can't fucking wait for this game! we need to get some people together to play online and get like a skype room or something similar to that going on off our computers! viva la mario kart live!

I agree. Mario Kart 64 is my favorite N64 game, let alone Mario Kart game. They did seem weak, but I'm holding out for even more unlockables. Even if there's not, as you said, 32 tracks is intense! Can't wait! :whistle2:D

I don't think this has been mentioned... keep in mind that all of the classic tracks have been revamped to match the graphical style of MK DS. So even the SNES and GBA mode 7 type tracks will play like the tracks on MK64.

Requiem - the game looks a little better in motion, but I agree, I'm disappointed in the graphics, specifically the draw distance. My favorite part of MK64 was slamming other players with green shells from long distances, and in this game, the other karts look like pixellated blobs at a certain point.

Here are some videos, probably already posted, via Rapidshare. The clips feature the Star Cup tracks, a DS battle mode stage, a look at mission mode, and Frappe Snowland.

Thanks for the links to RS. Does TRU do over-the-phone preorders? I have no way to get to mine right now but kinda want to get it reserved... ;)
