Mario Kart Wii - Gen. Discussion & Info

That was fun (even if we were at 150cc, which I suck at) - I had to run at the last second because my daughter woke up crying. She's all tucked in and asleep again - is anyone up for more?

I don't think I'm friends with you. It looks like everyone I am friends with is offline now. I'm thinking we should set up a night where we all follow each other into battle matches and harrass other players.

Wow, some tough players tonight! I didn't get to play much but I still had fun.

Just now on Wario's Goldmine. I hit first place with a red shell and as he's bouncing in pain I bump into him from behind and that sends me flying to the right and off the stage! :roll:

I really need to put on some weight :lol:

And on DK Summit. During one of the turns I got hit by a green shell. Then I hot hit to the right. I flew completely across the gap and landed backwards on the other side! :applause:

There were two people who saw me. They must have thought I was an idiot!

Yeah I kinda noticed that too unfortunatly. It was like all the red team was in the lead and all the blue team was behind.:whistle2:|
 
I got in a few races tonight...it was fun.
Lesson learned: don't try to race...on mirror tracks....with the wheel....and a two year old climbing all over you. not my best performance but it was really fun.

That was actually my first time on the mirror tracks..I guess I need to unlock those and get some practice in :D
 
I enjoyed sending the "I'm Number One!" message after every race no matter where I finished. :cool:

I played the new "level" for the tourney, got 2:47 the first time, then 38 seconds
went to record my score, which I was proud of and saw 13 second times, craziness.

Hope there is more unlockable content coming.

If I may make a suggestion regarding Mario Kart Online Nights. Perhaps set up some special theme nights. Like the regular monday nights can be like two sets of vs and two sets of battle , whatever , and then have other nights that are themed like team vs , lightweight/middleweight/heavyweight characters only , karts/bikes only ect. I'm just trying to think of ideas.

i agree.
i'd love an all kart night.
or even a couple cups of all karts, and then a couple cups of all light weight, and then something else.
 
Ok this Mario Galaxy tournament is awesome.
I really hope there's a bunch of more stuff secretly hidden on that disc. I'd love for some more shit like this...!!!

I think it ends on the 9th. I got my time down to 25 seconds last night. I could maybe shave another second off, but I think that is about the best I am going to do. There is now way I can get 13 seconds.
 
Well I couldn't let Jeffrie beat me so I had another go at it....

My new record is: 15.986 :D
It's pretty dang close to the World Record which now stands at 12.516

Is anyone else trying as hard as I am? :lol:
 
I need to tear myself away from Dr. Mario and normal races to try this tournament. It's the first one that's gotten real buzz here, and I enjoyed the others enough that I really want to try it. Maybe tonight, and then I can brag about my 60 second+ times.
 
I tried the tourney myself two nights ago. My time is currently 20.XX seconds.

I could probably cut that down...but I also think I have lost interest in it.

Been going through the Time Trials now that I have finished the GP mode.

Saturdays can sometimes be iffy for me, but I will try to make it if you guys want to play :)

Let's see. When I set my record I got a Topman out on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th mushroom boost.

Make sure you're blasting into an item box and a Topman at the same time so you don't waste time replenishing your mushrooms.

I don't actually start out with a speed boost. I just drive forward and to the left to get an item box. Hold B and turn completely around. The 1st Topman will be right behind you and you can get him out in 1 mushroom.

I got lucky on the 2nd Topguy. Sometimes (and when I set my record) I can get him out in only two mushroom boosts. I still haven't figured out why or how that happens :bomb:
 
I could host on Saturday if people want me to, at 6pm EST. I just need to see people are interested.

I'll host a game on Monday again; however, I'm not really sure if I will continue doing this after next week.
 
I'm up for a saturday set of games. I'm off school for 2+ months so Mondays are a-go now. I was one of the first in the MKWii FC thread so I have a bunch of people on my friend list. If nobody else wants to, I could host games.

I can make a 6 pm EST on saturday race....without a kid on my back this time so hopefully I'll make a better showing :)
 
I may be able to make it, depending on what time my family decides to eat tomorrow. Unfortunately, I usually don't get much say in that, and food's going to have to win out if it's the same time as Mario Kart. :whistle2:(
 
I may be doing some bowling (not on the Wii) at that time, so I may or may not be there.

Finally got to do the tournament...managed to work my time to less than 35 seconds...

And, I finally unlocked all the fast ghosts...something I wasn't too concerned about at first. I only set out to unlock 12 fast ghosts, but as I kept unlocking, the prospect seemed easier and easier. I only really had trouble on 2 tracks: Ghost Valley 2, and Mario Circuit 3.

So, all I got to do is pop in my Galaxy disc, and do the Mirror Cup, and I'm done. Score. :)
 
I hate this tournament. I can't even get below a minute. I do love the setting though; I hope there's a spherical Galaxy-themed battle map hidden on the disc.

Using a motorcycle and reversing is the key. You basically need to grab the first item box you can get and from there just reverse away from the Topmen and try to lure them close to the edge.
 
Question for you guys with Mario Kart for the Cube and Wii.

Now that you have the Wii version, what do you do with your cube version?

I don't play the cube version any more and the trade in value is only 10 bucks in some places. I picked this game up when it was first released 5 years ago when microcenter had it for 26 on black friday. It was the two disc version with demos on the second disc.

My 6 year old nephew likes Mario Kart so I got it for his DS and he likes playing it on the Cube and Wii. He does have a cube so I was thinking of giving him my cube copy for his b-day or Christmas. BTW he is not getting a Wii any time soon.

Good idea?

I'm keeping Double Dash. It still has tracks that weren't ported over to other Mario Karts. Plus it has the two racers per Kart stuff, and the characters having special item abilities.

But if you're not that big a fan go ahead and give it to him. I'm sure he'll be thrilled.

It's not that I am not a big fan of Double Dash, it was a fun game 5 years ago but I barely play it period. The cheapest I have found it for was 24 bucks used. I am not going to get anything over 15 for it.
 
I wouldn't pay 5 dollars for Double Dash.
I wish they would bring back the coin collecting aspect during races.
What are the chances online modes could be refined and improved.

1.) You're in a minority.
2.) Since that's been gone since the N64 game, I wouldn't count on it.
3.) What on earth does that mean?
 
Well, we've got an answer on our rooms - when you guys weren't playing, I couldn't join the room through Decrot or Janet. It looks like being friends with TMK is the only way in. :whistle2:k
