We had someone who was a really high random (Ananzi I think), he was top 3 when I went to bed, from the looks of the scoreboard, he bolted. We were top 100 when I went to sleep, sucks to wake up #125. I have my 1 green Ock from finishing top 50 in my bracket, so I can at least do required nodes. I don't really like the look of the character, he reminds me of Mole Man instead of Doc Ock.
Yeah, I don't remember the name either, but one of our top 3 jumped ship in the last hour (I think). I didn't think of it at the time, but since 120+k points only dropped us about 20 spots, we would've needed someone with even more to get us back into the top 100. That wasn't going to happen. We just didn't have the participation necessary in this event to cover. Oh well. I'll take the HP and the ISO as a consolation prize, go beat off in the bathroom, and go get my own in the Steve event. Who's with me (just for the Steve event... the other part, I hope you can "handle" on your own)?
I picked up two covers. I placed 11th, with 10th place 3k ahead of me consistently through the last hour. Just couldn't pick up enough points, which seems to have been the entire alliance's issue as well.
Haven't pushed for a top PvP spot in a while, so not sure what my strategy will be to maximize my cover earning. Especially since I have a funeral service tomorrow night. I earned enough ISO to put Steve to 166, so it won't be for lack of character strength if I miss getting at least the second cover tier.
I don't think we have it in us as an alliance to get the alliance cover, but I plan on trying to get as much as I can.

Yeah I got one cover for missions moving forward though plan on getting his two other covers with the Steve PvP. Big thing though yeah was I at least was forced to level up my Psylocke to about 100 now throughout the course of the PvE so DS, that should at least keep you off my back on recommending her for a little : P
I definitely wasnt able to push hard in this event and I am sorry guys. That really sucks about the random then. I had checked a couple hours before the end and we were fine and then I hopped on to do a final push and I was like WTF HAPPENED?! Oh well. I hope everyone was at least able to score one Mole Man!

So thats what happened, I knew we were only like 3 points away from the top 100. So I guess we got done to us what we were gonna do. I feel bad we didnt dump Ragnarr earlier. I counted and was wondering how we only finished 19 strong.

ing countdown! I dont look at it as it ends at 10 I look at it as Ive got x hours left in the countdown! Hell I was at moes having a burrito & I checked; 3 hour left? Good I'll be home in time.Moving forward, of course I went into the simulator and tested out doc ock. I have to say that Green had potential. I could see what they were going for, but its overkill. Its like they had a create a super villians power set contest at the devs but it was their kids that got to participate. Top 3 moves got to be in the game & the kids got prizes. After seeing it in action its the only logical conclusion.
"OK his power will be to attack all the enemies, and umm he'll swap some tiles around, and then he'll stun someone, then he'll break a countdown tile, and then make some special tiles, and he'll definitiely shoot lazers! And he'll look cool! Yeah he'll have shades on and a ponytail, like he's in the matrix! And thats how Doctor Octopus will be ok?"

While waiting for a new event New comics came out yesterday. Good week, most of what we've been waiting for. New Thor, New Cap, Bucky's back, and what Guardians of the galaxy....3000?

So these are the original, I was wondering about that since Ive read older marvel comics & the guardians of the galaxy weren't Peter, rocket, Groot, and company. Movie aside, which Im sure was as good as you guys say; but they seemed more like the star jammers than GoTG.
Since Guardians of the Galaxy became a movie, how about Agents of Atlas? I know Broly didnt know about the GoTG very much before the movie, but I think people care about the Agents even less. Wouldnt it be awesome to have a live action gorilla man. I mean Rocket Racoon was great so a gorilla has to be better right?

Well I got one cover for being in the top 100. I had 90,000 points I think. Not bad. Wish I had gotten that Psylocke blue.
The most I ever saw from one node was 2200 though. So you'd have to play that node 100 times? (assuming the points stay constant)
I'm off to a good early start in the Steve tourny. I've already got 200+ points just from playing last night.

Yep. Need another useless 4 star. Cool. Way to make me spend my HP just to hold on to her for no reason once I finally get her. Oh wait... she might have 3 nodes that require her in one PvE 8 months after she becomes playable.
And Devil Dino is there because of that one node. I can almost guarantee it. He's been on the wiki as a playable character for as long as I can remember.

So Prodigal sun event is being rerun. This will be the second event in which they dont even offer the featured character as a reward. What was the last one? Deadpool to win punisher? Now Sentry event to win....Spider-man. I have a maxed spiderman, so dont care about this event. DoCock tease with the progression reward too. Another green? I dunno what to say about this folks.
My Sentry is still pretty much lacking, I really couldve used some more covers for him, not a post nerfed spiderman.

Literally my exact thoughts that I was about to post. Minus having a max Spidey, but really I dont care to all that much. I know he is still useful enough and actually has a purple move haha but knowing he was that much better makes it hard to want to play as him.

He has a purple passive, he's more like a useful Bullseye with Stun and healing. I think the only real difference is Spidey has a more limited amount of protect tiles he places with purple. However they're stronger than Bullseye's
Ok just used a beefed up Doc Ock on my steam account. I completely see the merits. Especially against goons. He matches up countdown tiles, makes attack tiles. Paired up with Daken in the first node is great. Once he has enough greens Ock has the potential to knock out a possibly unreachable countdown tile. His skill set was very well shown off. Just wish I got to try out his blue though. I wonder how he stacks up agains non goons though? His passive black seems so wasted without enemy special tiles.I guess agains Daken or Wolverine he'd be great, sentry's world rupture too.....Torches black, Falcons Purple....I guess theres more than a couple characters his black would work against.

I'll work my way up to that progression level and shoot for themed tokens. Hopefully, since I need covers for two featured characters, I'll get lucky with that 3% chance for either.
And yeah, I have a max covered Spider-Man, too. No concern with placement for me. Probably means that the second PvP after next will be Spidey (with someone else after Otto). I'm thinking either Magneto or Hood, because they like to double-dip required characters.

You're correct, I must be looking at the Steve tourney or I went color blind for a second.
Steam account says 1 day 9 hours for the 1st sub event. Nodes are LOW LOW LOW right now. Starting at 200-300. Essential nodes, require Doctor Octopus and are giving less than 400 points. Start early for grinding or wait for rubber banding. Not sure what to do, dat top progression reward doe....

This PvE will be worthwhile for the progression DoCock, plus the potential for both personal & alliance subevent rewards if everybody's grinding.

And I'm not a huge fan of "hey, free stuff if you happen to be in the same place we are, if not, sucks to be you".

I am still bummed I started this game so late. I had been looking forward to it like crazy once they announced it before its release but they didnt have a solid date at that time and then I didnt find out it had even released until like 3 months after and my buddy (juggernaut) and I were like WTF and installed it right away.
I am only on day 248 right now : /
And yeah they do that a lot with different cons/events but I mean it never is anything super exclusive so lets just hope it is some HP rewards or something again for those winners.

anybody have a good strategy for this event? I am seriously hurting here. I only have powered up green Doc, L33 1/3/1 Ares, and L30 3/3/4 Daken, and I just got pwned on the 3rd nonessential node. I was only able to down one of the muscles, and got completely destroyed with strike/attack (can't remember the name of the sword one...) tiles buffing their countdowns. I just couldn't clear the countdowns fast enough. I even pulled out oBW for one match, and she got pummeled due to a mistimed pink match. Ugh!!!

they're going to a huge con and need to promote themselves. should they not do a giveaway in case they hurt the feelings of ghose unable to atttend?
I don't begrudge them the option to promote. They are already promoting the game through the "now through October 18, free ISO for new players", and could just as easily hand out cards with QR codes on how to take advantage of that. Then have the raffle be tchotchke stuff like t-shirts, bobbleheads or comic books.
Coming from a former toy collector angle, if you don't live in San Diego or New York (or travel to those Cons), you miss out on a lot of limited edition 'stuff'. That's why I'm not a fan - especially when it's a digital game that you can just as easily run a digital variant. I'm not talking about the Facebook contests, I mean a dedicated website of some sort to promote the game.
I don't begrudge anyone who stands in line for hours just for the chance to buy something they want. (I do it all the time for Black Friday.) Or even to buy things they expect to be able to mark up on eBay. And I get that it's cool to be the winner in those contests. I've gotten shirts/hats/etc. from convention contests before, including a super comfortable hat for a movie I never saw that I then lost at the flume ride at Sea World.
Still, that doesn't mean I don't think it's a pretty lousy concept when you know there are plenty of people interested in your product who cannot attend the event you've chosen to distribute whatever it is.
And I'm sure that what they give out for MPQ will be ISO/HP redemptions or similar, and in the grand scheme of things, we're not missing out on anything. But what if it was the only way to get Deadpool? Or they gave you a code to increase your alliance count to 25? That would be a pretty crummy thing to do, and not outside the realm of possibility - happens all the time in CCG circles.

Because of the awards for this event it really is going to be a lot tougher. Its not Spiderman that anyone cares about, its the top progression reward of a blue doc ock cover. Even I felt it, or I just had some really shitty boards. I was playing with a Steve, Panthers, GREY SUIT Black widow. Grey suit got killed, while panther and steve got knocked down by half their health. I was like WTF? This was only the 2nd regular node, 2 of the maggia kept putting up pistol countdown tiles & I couldnt reach them. Also my goons/maggia are already at 145. This early they shouldnt be this high but everyone's grinding for Doc Ock. Strategy wise, for all the goons and countdowns you're going to need abilities that will counter that. OBW blue is great for extending countdowns, bagman too. I just made a team of Psylocke, Hulk, and falcon. His blue passive is awesome in times like this. Probably thats the team Im going to run with. As much as I love Steve, Im going to need a quick striker for all these countdowns, which Psylocke fits the bill. Hulk can do clean up with his green & if he gets hit that just makes him angry so that helps. Falcons passive yellow makes Psylockes red and black more powerful. They really made this event for people who have 3 Doc Ock skills. After the prologue his passive black really comes in handy with all the enemy countdown tiles.
I guess for us they're giving us Devil Dino and whatever. I mean new people will have to wait a year to get one right? I mean unless they put him in circulation in the tokens right away.
As far as winning contests and stuff yes those are always a thrill, but it's bittersweet. I'd love to go to comic con, but where I live its not feasible. There's Dragon con in atlanta but Im not to schooled on that one. But here's what I won from a comic con contest, sticker says 2011, so 3 years ago about.
Its pretty cool, I think He's worth about $50 since he's a comic con exclusive. Although Thor's not my first choice, its still really cool I have him.

I've only been to one con one time. was mainly just there to take pictures and see what it was about. didn't really stop at any of the booths or talk to any of the celebrities. It was interesting but I'm just not -that- into the culture.

I have the standard release of that Thor figure. He is pretty decent. I have far too many toys so lets not start taking pictures of stuff hahaha
Also, when does this subevent end? I am going down to Indiana in like 30 minutes and wont be back until Sunday night so I wont be playing much this weekend but will still push during my poops : P

Yeah, I knew this event was going to be tougher due to progression rewards, but I didn't think *this* tough! Fortunately, since I am still a n00b, but 2nd node goons were L60s, but the 3rd node goons were L70s. Downed me 3x. Gave up, and ended up just smashing on the two Doc nodes. Hit both twice, wait 4h to refresh, lather, rinse, repeat. In the end, I was able to attain 15,753 by doing that. Didn't think I would get that high, honestly.
Funny thing happened... a few hours ago, I noticed that the levels for 2nd and 3rd reg nodes swapped levels. 2nd was 70s, 3rd was 60s. I tried the first again, and limped away with 1 downed hero, so I decided not to even try the 3rd node again. Have zero clue what laid beyond.
Oh, and my team was green Doc, L33 Ares 1/3/1 (juiced to L73), and L45 oBW 2/4/2... can't wait for that final blue cover for her... screwing with goon CD tiles AND health FTW!!! (BTW, is 3/5/5 still the recommended build for her, given the rising cost of her purple?)
Now my Ares is 1/4/1 due to the 2* alliance subevent token giving me another red. Yay! Can bump from 33 to 41.

Can't wait to make mHawkeye a serious contender with his crazy passive Purple, but I can't secure a red cover for the life of me. He is currently 3/0/4. I stopped leveling him at 20 until he can do more than stun/steal. Also wondering if I should steer him to 3/5/5 or 4/4/5...
Entered a few hours ago and stopped after 3 matches. Jumped back in and in my last match got bulldozed by an IM40 single blue. Why? I had no clue that Steve's protect tiles reduce dmg by 75 points each was he was suped up! Once he cast that, it was like I was shooting spitballs. Everything was coming up -1. Even 4-match row clearings. Then got Ballistic Salvo'd twice, due to cascades from hell fueling IM40. Just let the game sit until the clock ran out so as not to take a loss and diminish my 84 rank. Oh, quick question... should I pump any more ISO into my L30 Daken now that he is 3/3/5, or just give it to my L45 oBW?
I have 9200 ISO, but Ares is getting 4240 of that to push him to 41, since he is my go-to for this event. Thx!
OBW should be your iso priority. You want her to 94 as fast as possible. Ares is okay to level since he's boosted for this event, but get OBW as high as possible as soon as possible. I have probably 10 characters over 100, but I still use OBW all the time.

Now, back to mHawkeye... trolled again. my Day 45 2* token yielded yet another blue cover for him. If I used it, he would be 4/0/4, but I think that I want to build him to 3/5/5, right? Isn't it better to have the Blast Arrow CD tile be 2 turns rather than the Stun/Steal tile?
Given that I have decided not to put *any* (more) ISO into him until I get at least one red cover on him, I don't need the blue to bump his level just to get more ISO into him ASAP (like I have done with Thor's Red, as he is now 5/2/3 but will be 3/5/5 once I get the 5 covers I need). So, would it be more beneficial for me to just sell off his blue cover and get at least some return out of it? (Yeah, I know, measly 250 ISO, but still...)
I am guessing you don't get any benefit from changing covers at cap other than the ability to change covers, right?
Or should I just put it on him now to make his stun more useful until I get the 5 red covers, since I may want to use him before getting *all* 5 and that would increase his usefulness a little?

If you aren't planning to level him right now, the ISO from the sale of a cover you won't end up keeping is better.

OK, thx! I figured, but wasn't sure. I am glad that I put the 2 "extra" reds on Thor, since the extra damage is very helpful right now as I am leveling him, but I do see how generating 9 total greens with a L5 yellow will be very nice.
Oh, and I pumped my oBW to 50 with the ISO I had left over after pushing Ares to current max of 41. Need MOAR!!! XD

So one of my Tokens got me a Sentry.... Which brings me to my next question, this is a sentry event right? This was the event where we tried to recruit the Sentry. Why is the Sentry not powered up? Is this a huge oversight? Im just curious. Seems he'd be more powered up than say Doc Ock....oh wait he's not new anymore. Oh but Bullseye is powered up, so makes sense right?
My 10 pack got me a blue Psylocke and 2250 ISO. She's 2/5/4 now which I think is exactly the one i didn't want 5 in, but I think I manahed 2-3 different covers in the past few weeks. I also nabbed a second blue Doc Ock from the 300 point progression reward in his event, so he's 2/0/1.

Yes. I completely mirror this statement. I constantly have OBW still in my team among my 166s. She usually only takes Blue and Purple and when she does her match damage is the same as if she were my 166 Thor matching a Red because of her level 5 Espionage (black passive). Even after the True Healing patch she still is amazing.

The point totals on my nodes are all out of wack.
For the LA Sub event the max I'm getting is 500. On the Wakanda event the totals are in the 1100s.
Enemies for both sub events are in the 100s+

Over half of the DA toons that are featured heavily in the cutscenes didn't make the PU list. Moonstone, Yelena, Venom, and last but not least, Sentry. He was given a few Join Forces nodes so far, but that's it. Not sure why they chose to leave them out. The only other DA completely left out is Rags, tho he is taking a break since he was the star of the last PvE.
And the only connection between Doc and this event is the reward.
Would have been nice to have Moonstone powered up again. I only have her 1/0/3, but she was very useful to me the last event she was suped up in.
In other news, I saw sid's in-game note about his luck with the Prodigal Son tokens (Falcon and Fury). I have actually had better luck with the Heroic ones we have been getting with this event than the PS ones, until today. My 4 from today were:
- Heroic = oBW blue (#5, baby! w00t!!!
Now 2/5/2) and Wolverine** yellow (can't believe he was one of my first covers ever, and is *still* only 2/0/2!!!);- PS = Cap*** yellow (now 2/1/0) and Daken** black (now 3/4/5... would have been 4/4/5, but I overshot the Eight is Enough PvP event and ended up 98 and got a BP yellow... wtf am I going to do with another single-cover 3*???).
Previously during this event, I had gotten two Cap** covers (which I ended up using...), Bullseye purple, and mHawkeye blue and purple. The best til today was the Thor** green, so he is now 5/2/4, and I have been subbing him in this PvE whenever Ares takes too much of a beating (for lack of choices, I have been running Doc, Ares, and Daken this whole time).
I had read on d3pforums that the preferred build for Daken** is 5/5/3, but having his blue at 5 this event has been a saving grace. Looking at the skill breakdown on the wiki, it seems to me that 4/4/5 would be a very good build, since the damage output going from 4 blue to 5 blue is quite high, over 600 dmg at cap... but maybe I am just not seeing it right. Thoughts?

Make sure to get all 3 wolverine covers available in the prologue stories.
There's also 3 Thor and 3 cStorm covers to grab in there.

For future reference, if you overshoot the ranking you want, you can always intentionally lose to drop some points. The lower the points listed, the more you'll lose.
Daken is like Punisher - there are a couple of builds that all work fine depending on play style. The difference is driven by whether you want to treat Daken as a support character or not. If you want him to support someone else, you want to focus on the best strike tiles you can make, and removing them with blue is not desired. If you like the idea of him dealing direct damage through his blue, it doesn't matter how strong the tiles are.

The spread difference in the point rewards between the two sub events is pretty surprising.
And why are we trying so hard just for a Spiderman cover?
I see the value in Black Panther after using him in this tournament, just need more than two covers in each. And alot more ISO to level him up to be usefull.
I'm almost at the point where I only use three star characters now. (Except for OBW, who's just as powerful)

I see the value in Black Panther after using him in this tournament, just need more than two covers in each. And alot more ISO to level him up to be usefull.
I'm almost at the point where I only use three star characters now. (Except for OBW, who's just as powerful)
I'm not trying very hard in the PvE. I had a family emergency and missed the end of the first sub-events and that was enough to put me off of pushing. I also think that Doc Ock progression is out of my reach now. I have been focusing more on the PvP tournaments, and finally have a 13 cover Black Panther, 5/5/3, but at least I can level him to 166 once I get some more Iso. I'm hoping I'll be able to use him to get a few more Sentry covers.

I'm not. I'm trying for the Doc Ock progression award and the event tokens.
I'm going to end up with at least one Spidey cover inadvertently, since I'm placing in the 30s for the whole event without trying. I already have him covered how I want him, so I feel kind of bad for whoever I'm knocking out of contention.
I will say I'm finding this event super boring compared to the first time this played. I want the Doc Ock covers, but I don't WANT them. Probably doesn't help that so many nodes are underwhelming in the point value. 400 points for a 200+ Human Torch/Spider-Man/Daredevil node? No thanks.
Same boat here, for the most part. I kind of quit playing it last night after a couple cascades against a lvl 178 BP wiped me twice in a row. Haven't logged back in since. Those nodes weren't worth it for the point values they were giving. I'll play for a half hour here soon, then again in 6 hours and 50 minutes when my points refresh, but I'm not going to grind this one like I had originally hoped to do. I'm just not that into it.
I did, however, pull 2 Stormhawks from the tokens I've earned so far. Tripled the amount of covers I have for her in the last couple days, and she's been out for months!
