Nope. It's just part of the UI. Just gives you a way to determine how many people finished in your 'bracket'.

I also read through all of Dark Reign, and just recently started Siege. Seems like I missed something in between where Osborn got the idea to attack Asgard.

Basically in a nutshell he was tricked by Loki. Loki saw it as yet another way to rule asgard. I think they lost ideas on where to go with Dark reign, shame because it had lots of stories to flesh out.

If you havent read it yet, read Civil War and Secret Invasion, those contain the events which led up to Dark reign. After Dark reighn you can start on the Golden age, although things seem too happy and the stories dont have a big huge struggle everyone is rallying behind.

I think Avengers Vs X-men is completely on Marvel unlimted now, if you havent read that, thats a good one. It sets up all the new X-men story lines and branches: All new X-men, Wolverine & the X-men, Uncanny X-men, and the all female team just called....you guessed it...X-men!

However Im caught up on Uncanny Avengers and the new Hulk (among other comics). Although Im at a loss as to when he started calling himself Doc Green....where was that issue? Im thinking its in the Original Sin Iron Man vs Hulk Tie in, which I havent read yet.

So, I finally understand the Gauntlet now hahah

When you guys described it I didnt really understand and frankly didnt care all that much too either but now playing through it all makes sense how it works. I am just about to get past the BP set but doubt I will make it to any usable cover since I have class tonight too. Oh well!

I do actually like this set up of an event though as it is all on you and you dont have to worry about points, just beating each node.

In the PvP simulator, I'm at 1000 pts now and still only really seeing 2* teams. It's the first time in months I've seen so many matches without a single Hulk!

Maybe they tweaked the formula because I'm a little over 500 points and majority of the teams I'm seeing are 3* and 4* with at least a 100+ Hulk, X-force, or Patch :bomb:

Working on trying to finish the 2nd gauntlet for my BP cover and possible GSBW so dropped from 10 to 30 in season ranking. Only 300 points from #3 and haven't started the Hulk event yet.

PvE isn't supposed to affect MMR at all, up or down. Maybe everyone's Hulk is busy in the featured event?

I dunno. I intentionally try to reduce my MMR regularly, and I'm not seeing a change in the regular opponents I face. In a featured character PvP, I tend to see 2* teams up to about 300 points, then transition teams to about 600-700. If I push beyond that, it's all over the place, but I can tend to find teams to beat until about 1000. Then it gets harder - either the teams I face are Sentry bombers or don't give enough points to make it worth the retaliation. I love seeing an X-Men alliance person, though - they usally have crazy points and running a speed team instead of a defense team.

Nobody ask me about MMR because mine is completely effed and makes no sense whatsoever.

Basically all my matches are max level 3*s and now, with regularity max/near max level 4* X-Force or Fury. Randomly however in some PvP events, if I join 28-24 hours before the event ends, and I do nothing but skip for about 2k iso, I SOMETIMES out of nowhere get level 90 2*s for a few nodes. That is few and far between but again just adds to the randomness and effed up nature of my MMR haha

 
The SHIELD Simulator event is there for you to intentionally lose to lower your MMR.

Is anyone really going to try and get 2k+ points for a purple Daredevil or blue Beast? I mean, I guess if you're going for a season award, it'd be nice to have some extra points, but still. I haven't put up more than a few points each season in the Simulator, and have gotten the 10 pack each time, as well as a top 200ish placement for a couple more Heroics.

Ever since that first Lazy Thor PvP when I pushed like a maniac, no amount of tanking has saved me : / I swear mine is permafu!@ed

Might try it but normally I only get around 1500. Facing off against She-Hulks in the Gauntlet and she used her Blue Settlement 3 times and took out all of my count down tiles (who knew Settlement converted count down tiles).

 
Hey, guys! Long time lurker, mostly in the Steam forums. I only recently started playing MPQ when I got a new phone about 3 weeks ago. Sounds weird, but I am kind of glad about that, since I was on a 3 week vacation in July out of the country without WiFi connection (just wired conn for the laptop, so I was Firefallin every night XD ). It would have killed me to be this addicted and not able to play for those 3 weeks! 

Anyway, looking for a place to discuss MPQ and just thought to look here and found this awesome and informative thread. I am ecstatic! At least this lessens the burn of not being able to get past Lazy Thor, mBW, and Mohawk Storm in the Gauntlet. Took some tips and got Thor down to 300 before I got owned for the 5th time. Since I am new, I only have Punisher 1B 1R, mnMag 1P 1R, and Colossus 2Y. I was using cStorm 4G 3B 1Y throughout the event and am only using Colossus as a sponge for this node. Thinking about pulling up stakes and just hammering Hulk PvP instead. Glad I did the event, tho, as the 1720 pt cover I scored was the mnMag 1R. B-) 

I am also looking for a 20 member alliance that doesn't mind a n00b on the roster. I am in a random public 5 member one, but since the game doesn't scale alliance rank with size, it's pointless. I am very much into PvE right now, scoring in top 20 of Deadpool vs MPQ to score the 2 aforementioned Punisher covers, and am looking to do more in PvP once my roster improves.

Welcome to the thread! Since Broly is the resident kicker around here, I'll let him boot someone to get you into CAGvengers. Since I don't know how much you read of the thread, here's the rundown on the team:

  • We usually finish top 100 in PvE events. That's where we excel.
  • PvP, you're usually on your own. Most people like to hop in late against the seed teams and hope for a good bracket. Broly likes to flip-flop on this idea, and Tigger likes to bash him for it. Enjoyable to read.
  • We do most of our chatting here, and not in-game, so members of our alliance that aren't CAGs are usually left in the dark on most team communications.
That being said, talk about whatever's on your mind here, whether it be your current fav team, enemies you hate to face, how much the devs irk you, or when your favorite time to play Destiny is. Yep, off-topic is cool, too. Again, welcome, and enjoy yourself. Don't let us old burn-outs irritate you, and enjoy the game for what it is, no matter how bad D3 effs it up.

And right now all I have to say about D3 and frustration is that I am so glad that my phone is in an Otterbox Defender... It lived up to its name today!  8x AI cascades from hell on tile match 3 SUCK!

Get used to that... especially when facing a high-level Ragnarok after Godlike Power. He seems to luck into them more than anyone. Or a computer-controlled Loki with Illusions. I can barely catch one match with that move, yet the AI seems to get at least a 4x every time.

Just got the notification that my team is ready. Back to the gauntlet... 5 nodes left.

Oh yeah... get an avatar, faceless guy.

Dont know if its the guantlet or what but Ive noticed it too. Lots of 2*s with maybe a 3* for support. Nothing huge either maybe in the low 100s for the 3*. I know I didnt want the 3* or 2* covers in the colossus tournament so I dropped myself down to get 2 standard covers. That may be another reason I dropped down.

Ive wondered if MMR is also factored by event placement. So for those of us coming in last minute, constantly scoring in the top 25; would that also be an issue as to MMR? Regardless of opponents faced, or time played, it calculates it on ending performance into the matrix? Just curious as Ive been forgetting to play some events and ending in the hundreds sometimes. I thought it was just the majority of people using 2* X-men for the CotA pvp, but those teams have stuck around. Im back to C Storm, MN Mags teams again.

Yes we have fun here, its what we do. Plus Broly gets hyped sometimes & I know he needs to hear reason.

AH and tomorrow is new comic day! Not seeing anything great for tomorrow, but on the horizon (Oct 1) looks like we've got some good stuff. Cap America 25's cover looks like its going to reveal who the new cap is. I thought it was Falcon but who knows. Winter Soldier is back with a new series, and Oh Thors a Chick, her #1 issue also coming out. Avengers & X-men have a new crossover event Axis, so thats something too! Oh and there's the Death of Wolverine series, eh I dont see them killing off their most popular character....

Yes, I am trying my best to beat this game at its own... game? Anyway, I was doing very well, imho, in the recent Deadpool event, even not knowing that I was to pound a node to 1 before moving on, then wait 12h and come back (I was probably in an easy bracket to boot, since I had gotten POUNDED in the first PvP event I did when I started the first hour). I was rotating through hitting them all, then wait 2 hours to refill, then hit them again. But now I know better! I got stuck in that event as well, when I played against CStorm, Patch, and... someone else... But then I earned the Daken card from the event, and then I pulled another one out of a 1* token, and I was rollin'! mnMags saved me in this event pretty much the same way, but the Silver & Black team stopped once I hit the node I mentioned. Was hoping to get past it, but can't seem to get unstuck.

Aside from Punisher and Colossus, the only other 3* I have atm have only 1 cover (Psylocke - from a 1* token, Cap from recent Juggernaut event, and Hulk from last PvP event). I probably should have been relaxing on those to buff my Ares, since he is only 1/2/1, but I couldn't resist the push!

If you will have me, I will gladly pack up from the 5-member alliance and head over to yours. Just give me the word!

BTW, Ltrain... I fixed up the place a little... look better? ;) I wasn't going to put two steam sigs in, but I can't find one with all the info I want on it... I like how Steam Cards shows off my favorite group, which happens to be my Warframe Clan, but it is devoid of gametime, which is weird. I will keep looking to see if I can find a better sigpic!

In regards to playing the events, I actually NEVER played that way. I know DS and others always did but I still made it fine my way. That being said there have been changes to the game and the individual events so some of that stuff from a while back may be out of date. I am super swamped right now at work and wont be back home until late tonight so I can't give a whole recap of the game, but I am sure one of our amazing other members can give you some solid insight on how to go about starting, playing and ranking in the average PvE event!

 
I have CAGvengers saved on Search, so I only need to refresh!  XD

Well, I will have to try out the other method... in the first event for me, Juggernaut, I pounded the first node till I got all the rewards, and I later did that for all goon nodes. I think I re-hit a few of the other nodes a few more times, trying to get tokens. It wasn't until I noticed that the scores had a timer on them that I started to be more strategic in which nodes I hit and when. At that point, I started to do the balancing act of hitting a node which had a still decent score, or sitting it out until later when I had healed up. Putting the CHEAP in CAG, I was trying to be as frugal as possible and not use any health paks. It wasn't until Deadpool that I actually used 1 or 2, and I have used about 9 this Gauntlet. Them 3* toons sure heal slooooow!!!

Right now I am just sitting on some ISO trying to figure out who to level. I love cStorm due to her blue, and now that I have mnMags I understand what people meant when they said he was underappreciated. Making those awesome blue tile combos is sick! Can't wait to level that up. But for now, for standard play, I have my L30 IM35 and mBW, and my L25 Ares and Daken. I have not pushed mStorm past 22, tho I do have max covers for her, as well as IM35 and mBW. I am 5/4 on Jugg, but have not used him at all and he is still L1 (I just started to collect him this last event after having probably sold enough covers to max him).

Sidlon sent me some links which I will review... Thanks, Sid! And I have a thread at D3 forums bookmarked on my phone with suggested builds, updated this month. I have been looking at that for guidance thus far, even tho I have not had to use it to make many decicions (just when to stop IM35's blue and mHawkeye's pink).

OK, time to go make one more last ditch effort against the terrible trio... tho not knowing what lies behind may make it even more of a bittersweet victory...

Is there any place where the nodes for this event are posted? That would be a good place for me to evaluate my resolve.

FINALLY!!!

Got past them. Lazy Thor, mBW, Mohawk Storm. YESSSS!!!  That was my 7th attempt, I think, and the first w/o a cascade from hell. I was also beginning to wonder if using boosts increased cascade chances, since I only started boosting on attempt #5, and that is when AI got an 8x cascade on the third tile match.  So, I grabbed my 50 hero points, smile on my face, just to tap the next node and...

... be greeted by Fury, Iron Man 40, and a chump. :roll:

Will try my hand at them when I heal up. Wish me luck!

Good luck! You've got about two and a quarter hours to finish! There isn't a posted map I know of, but I pulled up my game. You're on the last intersection branch of Hero? Last node on the main line is Patch, Hulk and Falcon. The side branch is Black Panther, Pyro goon, Invisible Woman with Punisher required, then She Hulk and two goons with GSBW required, followed by Beast, Colossus and She Hulk again with Black Panther required.

I noticed some talk about how to grind PvE. The most effective method is doing a complete cycle of playable nodes every two and a half hours. That isn't condusive to a normal life, so the second best way to grind is to figure out when the next time you can play is, and knock down nodes only far enough that they are full again when next you play. Usually there is enough rubberbanding that two cycles before a sleep schedule or work period gives it five hours to recharge and build up some extra points. Then, if you can play for the last two hours of the event, just hit whichever node gives the most points until time runs out. It gets more complicated when two subevents are going at the same time - you need to juggle whether the subevent reward is more important than the overall placement award - soometimes it''s better to focus on the event giving the best overall points even though you're just shy of the next tier in the other subevent. It also highly depends on your bracket whether it is worth the effort to grab those easy nodes each cycle or not. 100 points adds up over time, but can just as easily use up resources depending on scaling.

Yes, that is exactly where I was at. But given your statement about what characters are required, I think I will just stop. I don't have either of those other required characters, only Punisher.

I stopped at 400 some points in the Hulk PvP. I don't really want a three star Iron Man cover.

I keep getting put in brackets where you need at least 500-600 points to crack the top 100.

 
I jumped in with 14 minutes left and fought my 3 quick matches and landed #83. Not great but I at least got one cover. I didnt have the seed teams so the matches took a while seeing as the enemy Hulks had 17k health each! haha

Nabbed the seed teams for this next one and actually am really hopeful that I can pull off at least two of the Daken covers!

I always look at it that top 100 gets you some HP and more ISO when selling the cover you don't need.


And now I need to figure out my plan for top 25 for Heavy Metal, could really use both purple and black LDaken covers and don't need blue if I don't get it. I'm tempted by the Broly technique. I can get to the 1k mark if I plan properly, usually, but in the last few hours of Hulk I could only find one opponent worth more than 22 points while I was in the 400-600 band. Not sure if that's because of my MMR or if the event was just quiet.
 
Just missed out on the top 100 after getting hit for -100 at the last minute.  Really wanted those Iron Man covers.

What's the best build for Modern Hawkeye with the changes to his powers?  Still 5/5/3?

Forgot to play the Hulk tournament, got some extra HP. Did the daily deal on a heroic, got gold.   Hulk red cover, oh MPQ, you're such a tease! At least day 340 has a blue IW coming, then maybe she'll be useful? A guy can hope right?

As for the Heavy Metal tournament, Im looking at my Laken. 1/4/4 how do I have 4 in black and blue but hardly anything for purple?  Some luck, Blue isnt really that good unless I have the purple to make lots of strike tiles.

Personally after playing with the funbalanced version I want to say 4/5/4 is a good build for me. I may change that to 3/5/5. The purple skill is now an awesome passive. Its like World rupture except you dont get hurt yourself. HIs blue does no damage now so the extra stun is kinda meh. Thats why Im not even sure you want it at 4, making the countdown a 2 turn as opposed to 3? Basically this move has become a weak version of Captain Americas move due to lack of damage. No stealing of AP just reduction of Enemy's is also a factor I dont like about the change in blue. Blast Arrow (red) thats AoE damage, so definite max damage needed in that.

All in all, I like the new passive purple, but I wish they hadnt taken damage away from the blue. He used to be my cleanup guy, those countdowns always came in and killed everyone off in the last minute. Just wish they kept his damage on red higher as well.

I have mine at 4/5/4 for pretty much the reasons DST gave. If I get a random purple and remember, I'll probably respec to 3/5/5. There are better stuns out there, and purple is a beast when he is boosted, which is the only time I use him. Pair up with either GSBW or MNMags, and you're dropping countdowns left and right.


Does Doc Ock have any signature moves? I know the character, but haven't ever been a Spidey reader except in the brief McFarlane years - mostly cartoons and movies for me.

Here's hoping for a nice purple that isn't passive.

I'm going with 4/5/4 after getting my purple cover from the hulk event and going to slowly level him up after I'm done leveling my punisher.

Ah and something caught my attention, Why does captain marvel look like she's from Frozen? A hell of a lot better than her ripping off the Cinderella step sisters in MPQ. Funny, the mission she's in, they're chasing frost giants; subtle, very subtle.

So far I'd say a 1-yellow IM40 and Steve play nicely together... combined with either Hulk to add some bulk, or Hood to steal the goods.  :mrgreen:

Psylocke could make it rock.

Daredevil could make it level.

Bring the Sentry, to prevent rear entry.

Magneto could wrap them in a hurt burrito.

Beast could care in the least.

and Stever Rogers hates draft dodgers!

And any way you slice it, every 2 yellow matches adds a red shield into the mix.

The phrase is couldn't care less drives me bonkers how it is always misused.
