Have you guys have seen the leaked character list from a while back?

It has been right on the money so far with every reveal.

That list is suspect to me, because of the lack of Jill on it (although it has Shuma Gorath on it). They also de-confirmed Strider and Venom, unless you don't believe what they are telling us.

For my money, this appears to be the true list. I believe this one over the one you posted because it had Shuma and Jill pegged as DLC..

Marvel Side
-Galactus (Boss) (unrevealed)
-Taskmaster (unlock) (unrevealed)
-Shuma-Gorath (DLC) (leaked)
-She-Hulk
-Deadpool
-Captain America
-X-23
-Magneto
-Modok
-Hulk
-Spider-Man
-Dr. Doom
-Sentinel (unrevealed)
-Storm (unrevealed)
-Phoenix/Dark Phoenix (unrevealed)
-Super Skrull
-Dormammu
-Wolverine
-Iron Man

Capcom Side
-Amaterasu
-Ryu
-Rad Spencer
-Chun Li
-C. Viper (unrevealed)
-Hsien-ko (unrevealed)
-Jill (DLC) (unrevealed)
-Chris
-Wesker
-Dante
-Trish
-Arthur
-Felicia
-Morrigan
-Viewtiful Joe
-Tron Bonne
-Mike Haggar (leaked)
-Akuma (unlock) (unrevealed)
-Zero

The lists are pretty similar.
It doesn't make sense not to have Mega Man in there somehow. Maybe they're saving him for DLC.
It's funny, I don't particularly care for Mega Man in the past fighting games but I was looking the list over and thought I somehow missed him.
No Thor on here either...
Yeah, the guy who posted it up mentioned a few comments later that he forgot to put Thor on the list.

Not saying that it is guaranteed, but it is looking pretty money to me. The whole correctly stating that Shuma and Jill would be DLC pretty much sells me on the list. There is a rumor floating around that the above list purposefully left out 4 characters, but I think that may be wishful thinking.

I'm still not sure what to make of the DLC for thsi game. On the one hand, it'll give me an excuse just to wait it out for the Ultimate super de duper capcom's gay version, but on the other, I just so want to play it. I don't understand Capcom's intention for a game like this where you know there's going to be tons of characters for Capcom to go DLC. It's probably shunning away more purchases than incetivizing it.

Also, no Gambit is still making me pretty bummed. Also no Cable sucks as well. One of my favorite combos was Gambit, Cable/Iron Man, and/or Ryu/Iron Man

I'm excessively pleased by the addition of Storm. I would have been sadfaced. No Dr. Doom sucks so I'm replacing him with Deadpool more than likely for my Storm/Magneto team.

Yo, Doom is in the game. What are you talking about?

You could just buy the game and enjoy it like everyone else. Holding out a year for a GOTY edition just puts you a year behind everyone else in developing your skills and enjoying the game.

Agreed. GOTY editions are cool in all. But isn't it worth the extra bones to play the game a year earlier then you would have by waiting?

As long as you go into it KNOWING this is going to happen, it dosen't seem so bad. I'm going to get tons of play and fun out of this It will be worth it to me.

Well since we know how most publishers, ESPECIALLY Capcom are, its inevitable that they'll make Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3 XX Reloaded: The Return or what have you.

Not necessarily when you have a backlog and/or trying to temper down your purchases. It makes a purchase like this where you know you'll have to rebuy at some point later down the line that much harder unless it drops significantly right out of the gate or is clearanced somewhere (especially early on). Added to this, I get tons of extra replay value attempting (and mostly failing) to get as many achievements as I can out of the games I currently have. This way I add more life to the games I own.

Unless you plan to play the game online. The community just isnt going to be the same a year later.

If they do manage to put Venom & Thanos in I really hope they change their move-lists. I really like these characters but hated the way the played.

Venom as really irritating to play against most of the time. Whenever I played against someone using Venom, they'd spam Venom Fang and control the majority of the screen. It wasn't "hard" per se so much as it just dragged the fights on.

Like someone said, the community is going to be mostly people who have stuck with the game and will more than likely have a higher skill level than you. However, that isn't really all that bad depending on who you are.

But yeah, that backlog is quite the independent variable.

I personally wasn't planning on buying this until the Ultimate/GotY/Super edition myself, but I got the CE for half off so I couldn't resist. I doubt hiccup will suffer if he chooses to wait for the complete edition though; there will still be a lot of people playing, and probably a good amount of new people picking up the new edition as well.

Viper looks like she's going to be awesome.

If she gets an AA assist with her seismo like CapCom's AA in MVC2, I'm going to be excited
Where the best place to get this game.
I want it bad.
Regular or CE?
thx abunch
Since I had Gamestop credit, I preordered it there. You also get colsole decals. I'm getting the CE because it is only $10 more then the regular and it comes with a code for two DLC character plus other swag.
Not sure if anyone's posted it yet, but the achievements are out.

Any clue on what other characters?
20% of the cheese is for having specific characters in a match. Hopefully the balance is reasonable so I don't feel I have to actively pursue the online only achievements.

Also, this pretty much confirms
Akuma and a third Darkstalker character (probably Hsien Ko)
will be in the game.

Phoenix looks soooo sweet! I'm liking the inclusion of Haggar as well.

EDIT: Looking back at the video, that Dark Phoenix mechanic seems kinda overpowered. Of course, that's just speculation, since we don't know how powerful Dark Phoenix actually is, but to be able to resurrect yourself with full health (albeit slowly draining) on K.O. is pretty clutch. Not to mention, you can initiate X Factor, and we've seen how one X Factor'd character can destroy an entire team in seconds.

From the looks of it, it requires 5 levels to use the resurrection. Also some people have pointed out that both of her teammates are KO'd. So it may be a rare occurrence to see but we don't quite know the circumstances for it yet.

Here's hoping to the return of Cyclops and Cable, via DLC or otherwise. Then we have the X-Family team I wanted in the last game.

Oh it does require 5 levels, I know. But in Marvel, you gain levels by breathing. I believe the Neogaf leak said that it only required her to be K.O.'d with 5 levels (no separate condition of downed allies). As I said, it's all speculation right now, but that seems pretty powerful.

I think they toned down X-Factor, but before it was totally viable for a final teammate to initiate X-Factor, then proceed to decimate the other team due to the power boost. I imagine that depending on how powerful Dark Phoenix really is, an entire strategy could involve saving Jean for last, stocking meter, dying, then initiating X-Factor.

A strategy I think we'll see against this especially early on will be keeping distance and/or turtling until Phoenix dies. The life drain over time puts some risk into the reward.

Also, I cannot not see Don Frye looking at Mike Haggar. Put some stars and stripes tights on him and he's basically a Hulked version of Frye.
special edition aint so special?
Are you kidding? I'd pay $10 extra for the Steelbook case alone.

Even if you don't like physical extra crap, picking it up for the two DLC characters is a no brainer. I guarantee you those two will cost more than $5 a piece when they're released on LIVE.

More than $5 each? I don't know about that... I think when characters are released for sale down the line, they are likely to be bundled, anyway.

BlazBlue's characters were released at $7. And I'm pretty sure they sold relatively well (for the title). I'm sure Capcom's going to follow suit. Jill and Shuma will be at LEAST $5 each. Sure, they'll be on sale down the line, but who isn't going to want to have them on their release date?

Capcom price gouges with their DLC. Just look at RE5 and SFIV DLC. I love them, but that's what they do. It's going to happen.

My point is, $10 extra isn't a lot to ask for what you're getting in the Special Edition. It's not as elaborate as other games' Special Uber Legendary Editions, but it also doesn't cost $80-150.

I'm hoping they're not BB prices. Both of those characters were far more involved than what will release for MVC3. Not only does each BB character have far more depth/movesets than a MVC3 character (from what I can tell), but BB also included tutorials and challenge modes (essentially SFIV's challenges) for both (and story modes? Haven't gotten around to checking yet), so it was more than just a new character to fight with.

While I'm inclined to agree with you, I still don't think it will matter. BlazBlue's additional characters had no Story mode, though they did have a Tutorial and Challenge mode equivalent. You can play them in versus or online.

My understanding is that MvC3 will have some sort of Challenge mode as well... and I imagine that Jill and Shuma will also be included in these Challenge modes, so it won't be all that different.

Awww, didn't realize they didn't have a story mode :( I DL'd them during the sale, but haven't gotten a chance to play around with them. Kind of bogus they don't have a story mode and aren't playable in Arcade mode (probably so they didn't have to code any endings for them).

Nice, didn't know that. I suck at them, but I love the inclusion of challenge modes :D

Yeah, I was disappointed too at first, but I don't regret picking them up. I bought Makoto at full price and she was worth every penny to me. The tutorial and Challenges are nice... plus you get the second pack of colors + Unlimited version of the character with the purchase.

By the way, if you're ever up for games of BlazBlue, we've got a group in the 360 SSFIV thread that gets together for it sometimes. You can also send me an invite: GuardianE9999

Thanks! No gold now, but might over summer when I (might) have more time (if everyone is still even playing BB, lol)

And I'm so jealous of those that got this preordered for 35.00 :(

Pheonix does look pretty strong, even without the Dark Pheonix resurrection. I'm very curious how that mechanic is going to work in matches. I think you're right Guardian that you do build meter pretty quickly, but it's definitely not like MVC2 because you can't whiff normals anymore. Obviously it's hard to tell from a trailer, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up in the top 5 in the game once people have time to figure her out.

There are some pretty awesome matches from the Capcom event at CES. The finals are pretty awesome to work. It's pretty cool to watch high level play in this game already: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/11861654

Hit me up as well if you'd like to play BBCS. Summer might actually be a good time if that's when the CS2 update comes out. Guardian & I usually get a game of SSFIV or BB going on Wednesday nights.
Anyone else think it's bullshit we'll need to wait a month to use the DLC characters we're paying for?
The DLC probably won't be on the server until 4 weeks after release. That and maybe Capcom wants everyone on equal footing (more or less).
