Can I just say - fuck Kotaku! Hard to avoid who the final boos is when they plaster the image all over the place. Sure it's common knowledge now, but don't use it as a banner image for the article.
It's just based on observation and feedback from people who have the game now. Every character can at least do a 100% combo by initiating X-Factor mid-combo. I don't think it's clear how many characters have 100% combos without X-Factor.
Well, I hope the X-Factor reliant 100% combos won't be that bad but unless everyone has one, I hope there are none without X-Factor. I just don't like the idea of 100% combos at all.

Here's something about Phoenix...
I'm honestly never going to Kotaku until they decide to ditch their new look. Terrible.
I do Agree, the new format totally sux ass , try this and see if its better

For a little while at least. The combo where he starts and ends with Chun-Li is definitely my favorite one in the video.
Anybody find the demo kiosk at a Best Buy yet?
I chcecked out my Best Buy both last night and at lunch today (to do my instore pick up on Mario Sports Mix) and nada. I talked to the 'video game section' guy and he said they didn't have their copy in yet. Since the Florence Best Buy has had problems getting games on release date, I'm guessing ithey won't have a demo for at least a few days.
holy shit I don't stand a chance. is there a shallow end of the pool in online fighting games?
There are plenty of bad/new players online in every fighting game in the beginning at least. Hope you can see somebody's record before fighting them in this game like it was in BlazBlue. :D

Also...
Wolverine = 2 Bat men

My local Gamestop's going to have the game setup by Friday at least because they're huge fighting game fans there. Whenever they get it in this week I'm going to go there to play it.

Went to a BB by my house on the way home and no dice. The guy said a ton of people have been asking about it but no one at the store knows anything about it. He did say he heard another store in the area that's right near where I work supposedly has it set up. I'll try to swing by tomorrow and check it out....

Back to business. Someone made a combo video to make us all suffer until next week.

That's Maximillian, a notable Ken player. Experimenting in the lab is going to be half the fun of this game for sure.

I, too, checked out a local BestBuy without luck.

I found this from Neogaf:
In-store demos will be available between February 13 through March 5. So check again on Sunday, guys.

Went to a BB that has it. Played for about 15-20 mins today. LOTS of fun. Unfortunately I typed up a bunch of thoughts about it and I got logged out so it all got lost .

I played Deadpool/Skrull/Viper. Did a few of the missions, which were really fun. Played like 3-4 arcade mode matches and got like 1000PP and it unlocked Akuma.

I can't wait for Tuesday!

Good to know at least some stores have it. Went to 2 stores tonight and no luck. At one store they had a Turtle Beach headphone kiosk running videos and the MvC3 opening was playing on it. I just saw the video at first and got excited only to be disappointed when I got over to it. Gonna check one more store that I will be near tomorrow.

Apparently Edge knocked MvC3 for not having unlockable outfits. What the hell kind of criticism is that? At least I don't have to pay for them.

That is what I want to know. Makes me think he should have it by release is why they already shipped it or at least around release. I wonder what the shipping was too.

What is it shipping via? USPS, UPS, FEDEX, Mule?
Did you get a tracking number? Where did it ship from? When is the estimated delivery date?
If they shipped it via USPS Priority Mail youll probably get it saturday or monday.

The Best Buy at Oxnard, CA has it setup, one controller only though.

It was a lot of fun, but the characters moved a lot slower than I was expecting. Galactus is a biiiiiiitch.

I got to play roughly 2 hours of MvC3 today at Gamestop with people I know who were big into MvC2.

- If you played MvC2 a lot and are used to it, you're probably going to struggle to get into it. My friends who were experts at 2 were kinda having a hard time with me, as I kinda made lives difficult for them. If you're not used to MvC2, you'll probably pick this up no problem.

- Dante is really hard to use, but he's going to be Top Tier. His Nirvan assist is a 12 hit combo if it hits. It's powerful, too.

- Phoenix is really fun to play despite being a glass jaw. I didn't know much about her, but I was able to get a feel of how to play her very quickly. She can combo stuff very easily.

- Viewtiful Joe is probably the worst character in the game. Super Skrull is disappointing as is Spider-Man and Captain America.

- X-23 is very good and fast. She can combo pretty easily, but her Hyper Combos have a hard time landing when combo'd. She looks like an early favorite in my area.

- Deadpool seems alright, but since he's very annoying I doubt he'll get much play after a couple of weeks.

- Sentinel and Storm seem stronger than in MvC2. Magneto seems a lot weaker.

For someone who isn't into fighting games, I found myself really wanting to challenge people in this game. I don't know if it's because it's early or what, but I really liked it.

Thanks for the impressions.

Someone on SRK.com posted their thoughts on Phoenix. Apparently, as Dark Phoenix, you can very easily kill an entire team with certain moves doing 30% chip damage.

For those complaining about Phoenix's health, keep in mind that Capcom continued reducing her health with EACH successive build. There is a reason for it.

I got to use Dark Phoenix once, and I wish she didn't have her health drain constantly because it seems like she could be the best character in the game without that going against her.

She'd not just be the best character in the game, she'd be completely broken. Her health NEEDS to drain for any other character to have a chance.

If she's the only left you can just keep blocking until she dies. Hardly fair.
Hey, has anyone else's that ordered from Amazon shipped yet? I have release date delivery and it still doesn't even say shipping soon.
Same here. I wonder when they actually ship it out. It does say release date delivery and estimated for the 15th,but nothing yet. I'm not sure how it works. I've never got a game on release date from Amazon before.
If she's the only left you can just keep blocking until she dies. Hardly fair.
You played with Dark Phoenix once. I'm fairly confident you can't reasonably make that assertion. ;)

Based on impressions from SRK from the retail build, she does 30% CHIP DAMAGE with certain moves, dude... that means whether you're blocking or not. That's, like, more than Galactus does. Full screen supers/projectiles/massive hitboxes on her normals. She needs to have a disadvantage because otherwise it'd be the equivalent of playing as a boss.

Also, she doesn't automatically die. Her health drains until it's, like 1%, but she still has to be K.O.'d by a hit from your opponent. I guarantee you that you will see Dark Phoenix take out entire teams online in the beginning.

Pre-Fight Dialogue. Pretty neat
I was just reading the review of this in PTOM and they mentioned this, makes me really excited to actually see this stuff up close.

How often are people going to get Dark Phoenix though? From what I've played and seen it's going to be rare that people get 5 bars.

I think Phoenix's Hyper combo in general goes through every other Hyper. I saw her Hyper cancel out 2 at once and I was pretty shocked.

So pumped for this game. I'm most likely going to avoid randoms online and just play it with buds/ you CAGs, though, to avoid fighting against the kind of people who look up the most powerful unfair advantage team/spam attacks and such.

Ever since the game was announced, I'd been really hoping for Ghost Rider to be in the game. Kind of disappointing to know he won't be. :/

Not trying to be a dick but as a fighting game head that has got to play the game for almost 5 hours, I think you are wrong on just about everything you say. FIRST, Dark Phoenix IS the best character in the game. As Guardian mentioned, she doesn't die until she gets hit. She is really, really insanely overpowered. Her chip damage is NUTS, and if you aren't a scrub and save your X-Factor, you actually refill life with her. She is really, really good. Also, everytime I picked Phoenix I got Dark Phoenix, because I purposely set my team up that way. Have her 3rd, never tag her in or use her for assist, and pick 2 characters that aren't meter reliant. It is EARLY as hell but I can all but guarantee you that Phoenix is no joke.

I also think Super Skrull is great. He is not close at all to the worst character in the game. He has a great command grab and a stellar cross-up. He also has a nice assist (Tenderizer).

Not sure why you think people wouldn't pick Deadpool because he is "annoying". That doesn't really make any sense.

I don't agree with your X-23 claim at all. I was having no problem comboing into super with her. She does seem pretty solid though.

This is the best version of Spider-Man yet easily. Cap is good too with the shield throw loops that he can do.

Sentinel and Storm would have to be super godly to be better than they are in Marvel 2. Don't see that happening. The whole Rocket Punch not traveling the screen thing kills it for me.

I'm not trying to say that everyone is good, but so far very few characters seem bad. Really, I know this is a douschey thing to say, but I think you are just a huge scrub and have no idea what you are talking about.

So I got a little more time with the game tonight. There were like 5-10 people there so I only got in a handful of games. This guy I was playing yesterday was there and there were a couple of dudes that were there practically all day from what I heard. Here are some random things I saw/encountered.

- Amaterasu is very good at pressuring. This guy was straight locking people down in the corner with block strings and assists.

- Hulk does a retarded amount of damage.

- Thor is scary. He hits really hard and his tornado hyper seems to connect pretty easy I also watched someone eat his command grab hyper after one of their characters got knocked out and it just about took them out as well.

- Sent was unlocked so I got to play as him. Despite what I was thinking from the videos, he's not really slow at all. His dash is very fast. The hitbox on his launcher is really good. Does a lot of damage and it takes a lot to kill him.

- You can control the direction of Skrull's QCF+AA hyper after you do it. I was having trouble with it whiffing after Tenderizer yesterday but I guess that's why. He's very mobile, has great range on his grabs, and lots of ways to combo into his hypers.

- I'm kind of on the fence about Deadpool. He's very good at keepaway, his hypers are great for DHCs, but it seemed kind of hard to get in with him. I'm going to mess around with him a lot more in the lab before I make a decision.

- Storm's Hail Storm has a ton of startup and I watched her get hit out of it a few times.

- X-23 is ridiculously fast.

- Zero looks really good. One guy who was playing him who played a lot of TVC said he played very similar but wasn't quite as strong as he was in that game. He was doing very well

- X-Factors are a game changer, especially with one character. If you deploy it at the right time, you can easily turn the tide of the match

- Already read this on SRK, but with Iron Man it's not possible to Proton Cannon -> KFC -> Proton Cannon because it starts up really slow.

- Ryu is awful. If you want to have a shoto on your team, Akuma is by far the better choice. He has way more options.

That's about all I can think of. Only a few more days, GET HYPE!

I haven't played as her/seen her played yet but I can see people creating strategies that revolve around getting 5 bars and getting Pheonix killed to bring her back as Dark Pheonix. Meter builds fast, so I don't see it being a problem. Besides - she can regenerate health when she's tagged out from what I've seen.

When I talked about Spidey, Skrull and Captain America, the guy was using them as a team and they didn't work well together at all. Perhaps if they were used with other characters I would've seen something better. Also, Spidey's Web Swing is apparently a Focus Attack but I didn't get to try it for myself.

It's still very early on X-23, but from what I saw and played against every time they tried to combo into her Hyper I was able to block it. Perhaps it was because I was rarely in the corner, but it just wasn't happening and it seemed like they were getting combos off almost instantly on me.

I think Phoenix is going to see a lot of use, but is going to be one of those characters that you either see hang around for a long time or short enough to get killed very easily. I think Phoenix/Dark Phoenix is actually going to make an insane assist more than a great active threat. Perhaps Dante/Morrigan/Phoenix would be a good choice since you could actively build meter with Morrigan and have 2 big threats.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. Everyone who ordered from the Capcom store is getting their shipped out. Maybe Amazon Pro=Orders get processed and shipped the day before via UPS overnight or something? I'm hoping it gets sent UPS, because I despise USPS...
