Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
My problem with the hardest difficulty was the Mako. I was fine effect that stupid Mako would get destroyed way too easily...
So is that why the shields are SO SLOW in recharging while I'm doing my 2nd playthrough on hardcore?
So is that why the shields are SO SLOW in recharging while I'm doing my 2nd playthrough on hardcore?
Yeah, it sucks. It's really my only major complaint about the game. Hopefully it's fixed in ME2.
My problem with the hardest difficulty was the Mako. I was fine except that stupid Mako would get destroyed way too easily...
Seriously? I haven't played the hardest difficulty, but I figured out you can ram enemies and knock them down so they can't shoot at you and easily take them out, including Geth Colossus. Are they immune to ramming and being knocked down at harder levels?

I agree Impossible is more tedious than difficult with the ridiculous amount of Immunity abuse. I only have BDTS DLC and the final battle left on the first and now FINAL Impossible run through for the last two achievements. Mako combat is indeed that much more troublesome though you can actually boost the shields and their regen by allocating more points to Electronics. Ramming is still possible btw but unlike every other difficulty it is actually more difficult for an average team and build to take one down on their own.

A quote about the Cerberus Network card - that's available in all versions of the game - from the EA store (the important part in bold):
Cerberus Network is an in game service available when you register with an EA account. Once enrolled you will have access to exclusive in game content and updates via an in game feed. An exclusive character will be available from day one and shortly followed by new weapons, worlds, etc.

Win, Win, Win.

I wonder who it is? I'd flip out if it were Liara which is completely possible after the inclusion of NG+ which by right shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Amazon is now out of Mass Effect 2 CE according to a dev on Bioware's website. Only place to get it now is direct from the EA Store.

Would have went for it if they would have explained what was in in. But guess they didn't really have to cuz "everyone else" bought it anyway.

I'm still holding out for an Amazon $10 credit deal or something like it. Otherwise I guess I'm paying msrp at a local store to get it a bit earlier than Amazon would send it.

What's this Dr. Pepper promo you guys are talking about?

Also, has it been announced if you get to 'make' your character in ME2 even if you import your ME save? What I mean is do you get to use the character creation in ME2 when you import from ME1. I was never able to get my female shephard to look decent at all (she looks alright for cut-scenes and stuff, but regular game looks are terrible for some reason). Sorry if it's already been answered but I don't want to get anything spoiled, so didn't read much of the thread.

If you want to get spoiled, then go to IGN, or you can find your answer if you listen to the discussion the Totally Rad Show had when they talked about the session one of them got to attend that IGN, Joystiq, etc. all attended that was the first 1.5 hours of the game.

Also NamPaehc I know when I ordered the CE on Amazon it listed everything, but here's the info from Bioware if you still want to get it through EA.

It would be nice if they give a "touch up" option where it uses your imported character as a base or something. If they've improved the creation features since ME1, I want to see if I can make my old characters look any better. Plus you know, maybe my Shepards have gotten haircuts sometime in the last few years. :)

Three weeks!

From what I understand they have vastly improved the creation editor from ME1 and players will be able to alter their ME1 profiles (including class and appearance) in the sequel. Devs confirmed that fairly early on but most of it got swept under the rug.

Heads up for the Vanguard class reveal later today on IGN. Of course I'll probably have the video link asap when it hits (depending on the timing), so you could just check here, too

Woooo!

That's what I want.

Vanguard is the only class I ever play.

I can't wait for the Vanguard reveal. It's my canon Shep's class and I plan to stick with it throughout the trilogy. I'm curious as to what bonus us Shock Troopers will get for tanking through the original. ^_^

Thanks for reminding me that I still need to go through an Adept playthrough. Last I recall it was the only one I never got a chance to mess around with though I could be mistaken. I'll have to check.
Is it January 26th yet?

No?

My canon Paragon Shepard is a Vanguard/Nemesis with Singularity specialization, and it's safe to say that he's a one man wrecking crew. I love having serious crowd control and weapon training to demolish rooms of mercs and Geth. Combine that with the fact that I always have Garrus and Tali with him (though soon to be Thane and Miranda), and you have the perfect setup

Awesome thanks! :bouncy:

I don't think I played ME1 right.

Loaded up a save right at the end of the game and I had 29 or so skill points to spend. :whistle2:# Going boot it up and check how many I have at my last battle save and use them once I figure out how that'll effect the importing process.

Don't think I really up'd my teams stats to much either.

Champion Vanguard anyone? I'm going to love Force Pushi- er... Area Charging the hell out of everything in sight. Whatever I can't kill I'll negotiate my way through because my Shepard is a serpentine charmer. Perfect. I'm going to have every chick wrapped around his finger until Zero shows up, haha.

Yup, I'll be sticking with vangaurd. My shock trooper in ME1 was awesome. She was easily my favorite Shepard, and the one I consider my canon one.

Wow! I had zero interest in playing a Vanguard since I prefer sneaky sneak ranged combat or using biotic powers to create some major chaos, but that Vanguard video totally has me stoked to try one now.

Is it just me or does it look like Bioware really hit the nail on the head by tweaking the classes so they each play very differently and each have special exclusive abilities?

Still not the 26th yet. ARGH.

Although I know having good persuasion skills are sometimes crucial, I can't see myself passing up extra damage. I think that being a Destroyer would push him to the top of the list of bad-asses in Citadel space (even past Thane).
I thought they did a fine job in the first game of making each class feel somewhat unique, as well as the gameplay that went along with it, but the reveals for ME2 have heavily outshined those of ME1. The key difference between the two games is one word: specialization.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two more things of note:

1. Next week we will get the Soldier class reveal.

2. I'm not sure I posted this before, but a recent question about character creation for ME2 brought this back up in my head. ME2's character creation, aside from being more robust, will also feature a unique code for the look of your created Shepard. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. The codes can be used/posted online to other people who will be able to use the same-looking character as you. I think that's an awesome new feature - not one that I'll use - but awesome.

That will be a way for people who aren't good with the creator to post their personal picture and have their more artistic online friends get their face into the game at least.

Heh... well years of playing RPGs has sort of molded me into a more tactics driven player so Champion has that all irresistible best of both worlds allure I can't ignore. I still get to satisfy my FPS urges by thoroughly defiling an opponent's personal space via shotty rape, intimidate a criminal mastermind into surrendering to my innate awesomeness then smooth talk my way into the pants of a squadmate afterward.

What's not to like?

IT IS ABOUT TIME. Finally I can save the facial features of my profiles! I have a Renegade Femshep who I adore and would love to canonize as an Adept but couldn't in the original. Now I may very well turn into one in the sequel but it always irritated me how I couldn't transfer or at least SAVE some of my most unique or drop dead gorgeous faces. It's about time we were given the option to do so.

I'm looking forward to the myriad of celeb lookalike Shepard codes in the coming months, heh. If I could find a talented soul to make requests however just imagine the comedic nonsense liable to ensue. Can anyone say Bruce Campbell, Angelia Jolie, Samuel L. Jackson?

I just finished my vanguard renegade female Shepard hardcore playthrough and I'm so ready. I have mainly two profiles I want to bring in, might work on a third and grab the engineering achievos along the way. I played the story 3 times with one profile to get to lvl 60 haha, doh.

This time around I'd like to see some "normal" people. Everyone was a scientist or in military it seemed heh. NPC wise I mean. And everything seemed to "temporary". Does that make sense? I'd like to see some of the long established settlements where people had real roots.

Wow, that Vanguard video was epic. Biotic Charge looks like the most bad ass thing EVER. I can't wait to have my super powerful Vanguard Shepherd. I didn't think I could be more excited for this game than I was, but I AM!!!

The ability to save your facial features online and share is nice. I would very much like to share my male and female Shepherds with my friends so they won't have to suffer the dull looking default Shepherd.

Couldn't agree with you more on that. It always annoyed me that the default Shepard is just some generic caucasian space marine guy. Everytime I see some of the amazing media that Bioware releases for this game I can't help but think "THAT ISN'T COMMANDER SHEPARD!!!"

Yet the trailers are still ridiculously awesome. I can only imagine how much I'd love the trailers if the REAL (my) Shepard appeared in them! ;)

New Miranda Fight for the Lost video up here! If someone finds a better link (YouTube, etc.) feel free to post it.

Damn, she's a lot more fiesty than I imagined! I'm definitely going to enjoy pulling this self-proclaimed "loyalist" to my side. It's nice to see that she has a Tech/Biotic mix to go along with my Vanguard and Thane, too

Very fiesty. Definitely the type to roundhouse the first man, woman, child or alien to even glance at her the wrong way. I'm looking forward to screwing with her head because Cerberus isn't running shit on my ship. My Shep still has a score to settle for
the Akuze massacre
and if she doesn't fall in line he won't have a problem shipping her back to Big Daddy Illusive.

That annoys me too. I hate the Shepard they use for all the promotional stuff. They couldn't make him more generic.

Yeah they should just make a Shepard with a blurred out face or maybe throw on a helmet like cough Halo.

Awesome! I like my shepard it's funny because my wife noticed that he looks like me, she thought it was cool that I could get it to somewhat look like me. I hope ME 2 will allow me to achieve this. :D

Best idea! If they threw a helmet on him I know I wouldn't ever be angry that he looks so freaking dull and his face never seems to have a full range of emotions on it.

LOL @ canon Shepard hate. Not a fan of them modeling him after a boring super model either but that's what the editor creator is for. ^_^

See, that's what angers me in these games. Why are the canon characters always the generic, white male? My Shepard is a bad ass, renegade, black chick with a scar on her face. That's way cooler than bald, space marine #47.

Pshhh, I stick with the default Shepard. He was modeled after a real guy and the stock face is better made than anything you can make in that shitty character creator.

Man I totally wasn't all that pumped for this game until a few days ago when I went looking at some of the videos on the website.

All team characters seem pretty bad ass with the exception of the black dude which seems to have taken on the generic role as the, "black dude". Maybe I'm wrong though. I became especially intrigued when I found out that Yvonne Strahovski was voicing Miranda Lambert, who is also modeled after her likeness. However, while they do look alike Miranda Lambert is a straight butter face. Yvonne Strahovski though? Well...I'll let you decide...

The picture is from the show Chuck, which you should all watch on NBC starting the 10th because the show barely got a 3rd season and it's fucking awesome.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Both Miranda and Jacob are introduced in Mass Effect Galaxy on the IPhone. Miranda in that game is also voiced by Yvonne. You get more character development with Jacob in that game. For example, he is not a biotic until you go through the events of Galaxy.

Watched every episode of Chuck through the Video Marketplace, and own the first two seasons on Blu-Ray so you're preaching to the choir with me.
Sorry for getting off topic.
Let's not get crazy now buddy. Any Yvonne discussion in this thread regardless of content could only be considered as on topic. After all she is voicing a vital character and anything that attractive naturally warrants notice on its own. Seems as though I must be only person who finds Miranda up to snuff aesthetically speaking. Ditto for Zero but maybe I just have weird tastes.

True. A large majority of my Shepard profiles are black drenched in Indian undertones minus my canon which I warmly refer to as the Alliance Schwarzenegger of them all. A seriously rough around edges old school Indian/black boy scout who is an expert sniper with a meticulously modded shotgun. It's almost frightening how well suited his image is to Meer's voice over hence why I can't bring myself to delete him. His weathered mug has grown on me.

Wow, I'm not even done with the 1st game and I already want to play this one sooo bad. I must resist.. But I can't and I've been watching all of the videos this morning and even though I am not done with the 1st one I think I'm going to have to buy this right away.

Any created male Shepard instantly gained 20% to their head size and always came out looking like some big galoot for me. All the trailers, videos, and art for the game have drilled the idea into my brain that the Tom Brady, Swedish supermodel default Shepard is the real Shepard. Since they put a lot of work into character creation for ME2 I'll definitely give it a shot, but I'm not expecting to stray away from the default look (unless you can edit it some).

Not to get too nit-picky, but I think you mean Miranda Lawson (Miranda Lambert is a country singer ). They've gone through different builds of Miranda (some being horrid), but I think this latest one is right on the money. I think you (including me and many others from other sites/forums) see Jacob as boring or generic because he doesn't get any amount of exposure, aside from ME Galaxy. He's the one character I want a reveal video for, simply because I don't know what kind of personality to attach to him when everyone else in the squad has a distinct personality. Even though I know the events of ME Galaxy, it still doesn't paint the full picture for him.

If posting pictures of Yvonne Strahovski here is off-topic, then I should just go ahead and shut down this thread. We'll just file any of her pictures here under art/fan appreciation ;)

Also, here is a nice article by Christina Norman (the goddess who reveals all of the class videos to us) about the various enemy defenses that you will encounter in Mass Effect 2.

My one male Shepard came out well (I always play female when I can make my character. Usually do one run as a male to get the alternate romances/dialogue, but then it's back to female characters). I'll post some pics of my Shepards later.
