Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
I have one or two of the blackstorm weapon codes laying around.

Anyone who would actually use the code interested? I don't like selling things I got for free; I'd rather pass them to people who'll appreciate them.
I'd love one as well if you've got a spare.

I just need someone to hand out more gaming time to go with it!
You need fuel to go in-between star systems within a star cluster, so if you have no fuel, you can't travel between them.

EDI warns you when you're at half fuel, and you can pick that up at the fuel depot in the same system with the mass relay. Same place you buy probes.

Damn, didn't know you could burn minerals when you're out of fuel.
Well, I bought some fuel, tried to travel out of the first area I was in and I ran out of fuel (so it put me back where I was, and made me lose minerals to boot). I'm wondering if I need fuel to use the Mass relays and while in main maps or if it's for everything. But the whole idea of fuel is pretty stupid.

I got Zaeed already, but I haven't done his Mission yet. I don't really see the point in doing any of the DLC quests yet.

started to play this today and got the rrod after I downloaded the flash drive update for the 360. I have it on the way for the PC so I will be playing it on the PC. To bad all the preorder stuff I can not use on the PC because I downloaded them on that monday when they put them all up for free along with the dr. pepper stuff.

Any Cerberus Network stuff is available to the other platform so you may be in luck. Not sure how the Kasumi DLC works out if purchased with XBL points.

I would love one, just sad that the blackstorm is the only thing I am missing with my ME2 experience.
That's complete genius.

Though, a better one might be:

Jack: Someone said they saw Kelly sneaking into your cabin! Where are you hiding her?

Shepard:

She's helping me write you a love poem. _\ __ / I'm sorry, it won't happen again.

I actually hope something like this comes up either in DLC or ME 3 with Liara.
Well if you don't buy fuel you instead burn up minerals when you travel between solar systems.
What happens if you have 0 fuel and 0 of every mineral?
I actually hope something like this comes up either in DLC or ME 3 with Liara.
Now, that would be something that would be more than a little amusing.
What happens if you have 0 fuel and 0 of every mineral?
Damn good question. I think as long as you have minerals you can mine in-system, you'd just be stuck in-system until you could mine more.

The bigger issue would be 0 fuel, 0 probes and none of any mineral. That would be a "restore from last savepoint" situation, I think.

LOL Shrike got me in trouble... he put my "This shit is impossible to get any points" post over my fake "I won four things from the auction" post. Haha, that was good...

...Anyways. I'm buying Kasumi today I think. Or I'll wait for a temporary price drop, not sure.

I don't know if any of you were annoyed by the ME2 save being locked, but I found a way around it. I ordered one of those transfer cables from dealextreme and used the xport360 software. It apparently worked, though I haven't tested it by deleting the save from the hard drive and moving over the copy. I feel a little better with it backed up.
So I guess it's pretty important then?
Yes, you'll want to keep the fuel tank full. As well as keep a stock of probes.

I was wondering if anyone had a code for the Dr. Pepper stuff or the preorder code from amazon? Them are the only armor sets I don't have on the PC. I was able to get them on the 360 but that was because of the messup and all were posted for download.

How does disc swapping work in this game exactly? I'm only 8 hours in and when I went to do Miranda's Loyalty Mission, the game told me to swap to disc 2. Did I do something wrong?

That's good I guess. I heard it'd be like that, but 8-hours into the game is kind of on the short side.

I'm enjoying this one so far, although I'm not gushing over it. Maybe I haven't hit 'that' part yet that'll make me fall in love with it. I didn't like my controller disconnecting 3 times this morning while playing, resulting in 3 deaths. When something like that happens the game should pause. But it's a minor complaint (Unless it happens again and I lose a significant amount of time)

It's not the same place.

Miranda's loyalty mission - Illium

Tali's recruitment mission - Haestrom

It basically makes you swap when you approach your first mission after completing
Horizon
.

Sorry, my mistake. I have my ME1 female allies mixed up.
The maps says 'for Liara, another guy, Miranda's loyalty go here' and I did.
Whether or not I'm recruiting her is another story.

Well, ended up putting about 6-7 hours into the game tonight, as well as three or so last night.

At this point:
Have all the crew members save Legion (and Kasmui)
Did Miranda's loyalty mission, and have all the other loyalty missions unlocked except Thane's
Had the run in with the derelict Collector vessel, and have to go collect the Reaper IFF from the derelict Reaper vessel

Just hit Level 16 at this point.

Shrike, big tip to avoid starting the point of no return---hold off on that
IFF mission
until you've done all the loyalty missions and other side quests (anomaly missions etc.) other wise there will be consequences if you don't move on to the next story mission shortly after the IFF mission.

A lot of people/websites were kind of hard on the Kasumi DLC, saying it wasn't worth $7. I love ME2, so take my words with a grain of salt, but I really enjoyed the Stolen Memory mission. Just for the novelty of the art in the vault alone (any DAO fans out there?) was worth it.

I just got Jack's Loyalty. I like that character the most, at least from the background. I love that
I take Miranda and Jack on that mission together then the instant I get back Jack's going to kill her. Well, maybe I don't love it because I would like something like that to happen during the Mission.

I'm sort of confused about
Liara's hacking mission. I found 2 of the terminals, but are there more? If so, where?

Yes, there are more. I think most of them are clustered around each-other, and one is relatively out of the way.

Sorry I can't help ya more on that one.

I probably need to do a mission or two to get Thane's loyalty mission unlocked, and then run through and do all of the loyalty missions, pick up Kasumi and do the Firewalker missions before heading off to the
IFF mission
.
There's three of them, if I remember right, scattered around the area.

Well, I found
the ones on either side of the room when you enter. I looked for another one but couldn't find it.

Really?

First Liara terminal mission: all 3 are pretty much right on top of each other.

Second Liara terminal mission: 4 are right outside her office, one is in the Eternity bar.

Speaking of missions, I had a question about loyalty missions and order.

Right now, I've done Miranda's, and I just started on Jacob's. For the other ones I have open, which are all of them but
Thane's and Legion's
, are there any that I should do before others?

I've heard that you run into a possible issue when you've done
Miranda's and Jack's
, as well as
Tali's and Legion's
, though are there any other ones that are issues like those?

It doesn't really matter. For the two you mention, it's just a matter of having your paragon or renegade high enough at the time to resolve a dispute, or win back loyalty afterwards.

I wouldn't think order of doing them would matter much as it should adjust to how far you are into the game for the first one. The latter can't really matter since Legion's loyalty mission is right before the end game--I guess you could put it off until after beating the game and hope he survives the end game sequence.

I've pretty much picked up all the Paragon possible so far into the game, with some Renegade thrown into the mix, so the bar is pretty high up to being max'd out.

For Legion's loyalty mission, since you don't seem to get him until
during the Reaper IFF mission
, wouldn't I have to do his loyalty mission right after I find him? From a couple things I've read, it seems like
if you've done all the side missions + loyalty missions and you find the IFF, the time to "install" it is almost nothing, so it seems like people miss out on doing his loyalty mission before the IFF endgame scenario. Any truth to that?

And yes, I know I'm reading ahead on some of that, though I'm trying not to step in a mess by doing something out-of-order or missing something.

Yep, you have to do his loyalty mission right after the IFF mission.

It gives you time to do his loyalty mission before having any negative repercussion on the end game (the "timer" won't start until after you complete his mission. There's no way to miss out on his mission if you've done everything else prior to the IFF mission. So just be sure to have all the loyalty missions done but his before the IFF mission.

Sidequests too if you want to do them before the end game to get more experience etc.--but you can always do those after the end game with no issues--where as you may have people die if they're not loyal during the end game sequence.

I had planned on all the other loyalty missions and side quests before going down that path, so it should be the only thing to do right after starting that sequence of events.

The specific problem with his mission - at least, that I ran in to - is that
you have to activate him when you get him, same as Grunt. Activate him as soon as you get him. Don't fuck around. Don't go fly to another planet. Activate the fucker.
Duly noted. I'll keep that in mind once I get to that point.

Yep, that's the only way you could miss it. Will spoiler it to be safe for other's reading (nothing you can't read Shrike)

Forget to activate him and do the final mission and you'll miss his mission.

And the only way you can have end game problems is if you activate him and do more than his loyalty mission before moving on to the end game.

As long as you finish everything else, then do the IFF mission, then activate him right after the IFF mission and do his loyalty mission and then go directly on to end game you'll have no issues.

I'd also recommend having plenty of minerals when you get Legion. His upgrade is a widow sniper rifle for him. I think you can do planet scanning without affecting the timer, though. Landing and missions is what triggers it.

I was looking around on youtube and saw a video showing what happens when you bring Legion on Tali's recruitment mission. I imagine you have to cheat on the PC or save that mission till the end to see that. I wouldn't have ever seen that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy9GYGFKpOw&feature=related

Listen to what dmaul says in the spoiler tags. If you need more proof, look at our achievement lists for the game.

so can anyone else connect to the Cerberus network? or has this already been covered?

just beat Kasumi's mission, it was pretty cool. But I swore I saw some screen glithcing when talking to that head guy at the party.

Damn glitching CAG ate my reply. :bomb:

Someone posted the link with Legion's dialogue for Tali's loyalty mission earlier, I think.
Tali has some lines during the recruitment of Mordin and Garrus, too.
I did see that from Bioware's forums, I think. Some good dialogue, actually.

do you guys think that if i don't activate either of them, that can play a story element in the third?

do i need Cerberus network to get/use kasumi dlc?

I'm pretty sure you don't since it's on the Marketplace.

I just to got to Level 18 and I have made Jabob, Zaeed, Grunt and Mordin loyal since last time. I'm looking to get the rest done tomorrow. I'm not sure how I'll get some of the extra achievements though like warping 25 barriers and incinerating 25 armors because the game seems weird about registering when it does/doesn't count.

just finished this game up yesterday, i really enjoyed it. i thought the game play mechanics were greatly improved and made it easier to play. but i did not like how they made the game very linear and almost too easy to figure out. but overall it was a great game. i just need to gain 3 more levels and then im done with all the achievements except for one. once it gets cheaper ill get it again and go back for the "hard mode" achievement. or w/e they call it. i think i finished around 30ish hours with getting every achievement (except lvl. 30 [need 3 more lvl's] and the hard mode achievement)

Yeah those are tough. I got them on my 2nd playthrough as a renegade as I was an adept that time vs a soldier the first time.

The incinerate took the longest. What I did was keep Mordin with me, find people with armor, shoot them until the armor was almost gone, then pull up the power wheel and have Mordin use his incinerate to finish the armor off.

The barrier one was the easiest, just shoot people to weaken their barriers, then use warp to finish it off.

The specialist one you need to use the powers in pretty quick succession to get credit for a combo. So for instance hit them with a singularity then right after use another squadmates warp or other power to get it to register.

It can be done in one playthrough, but it's easier if you focus on it right from the start. Especially if playing on normal difficulty since there aren't as many enemies with armor and barrier as on higher difficulties.

The other slightly annoying one is the beat down one for meleeing staggered enemies. But the key is to just focus on that with husks as there are lots of them and it's easy to pop a couple rounds in them when they run at you then finish them with a melee attack.

In all, I did two playthroughs on Normal and got all the achievements sans the one for beating the game on insanity of course.
