Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
Yes it's real.
It's only available after the final mission, if she survives and you have been flirting with her the whole time.
I think it only happens if
you don't have an active romance that happened with one of the other crew members and you've been flirting with Kelly the entire time, or you fulfilled a romance with a crew member before the final mission and then seek them out after the final mission and break it off with them and had been flirting with Kelly the entire time.
The one where she is in an Asari dancer's outfit giving you a private dance in the Captain's Quarters?
Yea that one. Seems odd... and I romanced Kelly a bunch with never that option.

Tomorrow morning BioWare will reveal the next batch of DLC for Mass Effect 2.
Tomorrow morning we reveal what the next Mass Effect 2 DLC will be. Will it be new weapons? Will it be new worlds? Will it be the elcor-in-a-bikini appearance pack? Check back tomorow morning to find out.
Sounds small-ish, but maybe I'm just reading too much into that release.

Hmm. Now that they've teased that it could be "new worlds," it would be a pretty big disappointment if it turned out to be just new weapons or armor.

Bioware wouldn't deliberately shoot themselves in the foot like that, right?

...

Yes, they would.

This is correct.
Also if you're staying with your ME 1 romance, doing this DOES NOT APPEAR to break off that romance.

Anything's possible with Bioware at this point.

I'd like it if it was "new worlds" as much as anyone else in here, though we'll have to wait until next week and see what happens.

Also,
I would have liked to have stayed with my ME1 romance, though she went all "kill the Shadow Broker" on me. ;)

There was also the employee who tweeted that the upcoming DLC would make female players very happy, which got the Thane and Garrus fans all hyped up. Then Bioware revealed Kasumi's Stolen Memory... Um, okay? Not that Kasumi wasn't awesome for what it was, but it's hard to fathom what anyone thought that tweet would accomplish other than leaving a certain segment of fans confused and disappointed.

You ask me, the hype machine for gaming in general is screwed up...for Bioware doubly so. Announcements for when they're going to make an announcement...countdown clocks...everything needs to go away. Especially when the stuff they're hyping up isn't all that big of a deal (bioware bazaar, armor DLC, etc.)

I wonder what new shiny piece of armor requires an announcement this time! :D

...

I certainly hope this time around the company has realized not every single piece of DLC requires a delayed 'mysterious' announcement to generate interest because you aren't actually doing your fan base a favor by keeping us in the loop, Bioware. You're giving a lot of us a reason to start ignoring them. At this rate I'd bet money it's a romance pack if I had some to spare at the moment.
We were expecting info about the rumored Liara DLC and they gave us the Equalizer Pack.
People got burned on that because they overly hyped up something unofficial. There were no hints at all about the Equilizer Pack before it was officially announced. Also, nothing involving Liara has even been confirmed yet. There is only speculation and some buried sound files. Yeah, it's pretty safe to assume there is something planned with her and the Shadow Broker, but until it's official, I'm just going to be in "wait and see" mode.
You ask me, the hype machine for gaming in general is screwed up...for Bioware doubly so. Announcements for when they're going to make an announcement...countdown clocks...everything needs to go away.
I think they should just take the usual "announce it when they damn well please" route like most companies do. They pissed off a ton of people with the BioWare Bazaar and then the Equilizer Pack, but then again, that's the angry mob's own fault for letting hype and speculation get out of control. Either way, they aren't going to please everyone. One glance over the BioWare boards can tell you that... some people there just can't be satisfied at all.
Especially when the stuff they're hyping up isn't all that big of a deal (bioware bazaar, armor DLC, etc.)
My Dragon Age PC disagrees with this statement.

Whatever it is, I just hope it gets me 180XP and I make level 30 with it. ;) More than that, fine by me.

Exactly. It's all lame as hell. Just announce content when you're ready to and be done with it. Hype it after the announcement if it's something worth hyping--i.e. not a costume pack etc.

In any case, I've started up Fallout 3, and have all but one of the DLCs installed so I'm into that and wouldn't get any ME2 DLC until that's done anyway.

If this happens to be another costume, cough I mean armor pack, then I'll just not be interested in any future dlc until I hear what it is first. I think they learned their lesson last time so I'm hoping this is new missions this time.

Early word on the "Overlord" DLC announcement from Kotaku:
There's more "premium" downloadable content on the way for EA's Mass Effect 2, and while this newest pack doesn't introduce a new character, it does have you playing John Connor over five missions.

The pack is called "Overlord", the entire thing set on a single planet as you try to shut down a dangerous enemy AI, who looks like the lovechild of Tron and The Matrix. Hope you like shooting at robots!

Despite the DLC being set in one place, you'll again be given access to the Hammerhead hovertank, with promises that you'll be able to explore the planet between indoor sections.
Overlord will be out next month. No word yet on pricing.
Looks good. I'm glad it isn't a stupid accessory pack like I had feared.

Looks pretty damned good, if it includes outdoor missions with the Hammerhead and indoor missions.

The pic BingoBrown posted looks like a geth in that force bubble.

Confession: I never even finished all of the Firewalker missions... I just found driving around in the tank boring and not really what I was looking for from Mass Effect. Here's hoping the Hammerhead portions of this DLC are optional or at least short.

I also wouldn't say no to a second costume pack released alongside Overlord, so I can explore the new planet in some new threads.

I felt the same way. I stuck with it, but only because it was 25 min or so tops. If it was closer to an hour I would have bailed. The worst thing is that the worst mission out of the bunch was the straight combat one. I ended up rushing through and basically activating the whatevers and then high tailing it out while doing as little fighting as possible.

Is it weird that I want to make sweet, sweet love to that computer? I don't think so.

Some actual resemblance of exploration for once? Very tempting but I'm still going to wait on a review before I drop everything to rush back to this game. I'm just glad it isn't another semi-useful accessory announcement. On the bright side depending on how they decide to handle this it could help reinforce my faith that I won't be adding just another action based shooter to my library come ME3. I have plenty already.

Thanks as always for the news X.

just wondering what I'm missing here, but when I enter the Rosetta Nebula system, i then fly over to Alpha Draconis and the screen zooms out to show all the planets in that nebula, but then i can't move anywhere. I'm just stuck at Enoch and can't move over to any of the planets (i'm trying to get to Jacobs loyalty mission), i can just go back to where i came from. what am i missing??

Sounds like you are out of fuel. There are stations (usually right next to mass relays) where you can buy more fuel, which lets you move around within a system. It doesn't take any fuel to use mass relays though.

Looking and sounding good. Hudson mentions it's around two or three hours worth of gameplay, which sounds pretty solid.

I think what happens is you automatically warp back to the nearest mass relay, and lose some of your minerals in the process. You can't just cruise around normally and burn minerals instead of fuel.
Looking and sounding good. Hudson mentions it's around two or three hours worth of gameplay, which sounds pretty solid.
Excellent that it's that long, as Kasmui's was about 90 minutes with the recruitment and the loyalty mission itself for the same price.

I think I'll wait until this is a deal of the week because there's nothing here that we know of that interests me enough to purchase it day 1 (it's not big enough, doesn't give you a new character and probably won't have much new weaponry) especially since the Hammerhead and Kasumi packs got me to level 30 already. Maybe if I ever create a male Shepard to take through ME 1 and 2 then I'll get this.

Where's our DA: O Awakenings sized expansion?

It had better be in the fucking pipeline. It would be a crime for ME2 to not get the same treatment as DA:O (not a knock on DA:O, just a demand for equal treatment).

That Casey Hudson interview should appease the people who feel like ME2 DLC is moving towards an all-items/armor direction. I'll gladly pay 560 MS points for something he's already deemed as the biggest expansion to the series so far.

Yeah I'm happy for any DLC that's adding new quests. Price isn't bad for the length either. It will just have to wait until I'm done with Fallout 3, or wanting a break from it etc.

And like others, I really hope ME2 gets a Dragon Age like expansion. The strength of the series is the characters and plot, so a full on expansion would be so much more satisfying that just adding little quest packs.

Of course, the best of both worlds is getting both little dlc packs AND a major expansion--and hopefully that's what happens.

From Michael Gamble over on the BioWare boards:

Overlord will be gold standard Bioware quality (think Kasumi - but longer). VO based conversations, cutscenes, strong narrative.

It's 5 full missions (one of them being a vehicle based hub) - and just wait until you see the boss.

Boner engaged.

Don't knock over your PC with that engaged boner. You might do it some harm.

Though, if it's five full missions, then I think that'll do nicely for some future ME2 gameplay, especially if it's the same price as Kasmui's mission.

All the DLC looks interesting and all, but I just can't justify the price to content ratio when compared to that of the game itself.

If ME2 cost $60 and you could get around 60 hours of gameplay out of it then these $7 DLCs should yield around 7 hours of gameplay.

If you got 60 hours of enjoyment out of ME2, then that means you did more than one playthrough. To make your price-to-content ratio fair you'd have to factor in two playthroughs of the DLC, too. So, it'd be $7 for 3.5 hours (which is close to what is being said about the DLC's length).
