Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread
Man I am super pissed off at Geth Rocket Troopers. They're rockets are almost un-dodable, super fast and always homing in on you.
I agree. Geth Rocket Troopers are almost over-taking Cerberus Engineers for the title of "most annoying foe". I don't remember them being this hard to deal with even a couple weeks ago.

Stealth buff maybe?

Also, I ordered a Tali figure a while ago and it came with a MP code. It's not even a Veteran Pack. It's more like a Veteran Pack lite. Comes with 4 items and one of them is Uncommon. Utter trash and really cheap on BioWare's part.

Also, why not order Garrus off of Amazon? They have it at regular price: Mass Effect Garrus figure. It seems like they have everyone else too.

I really wanted the Garrus figure, but from what I've seen it looks God awful. I like the Shepard figure, though. Maybe I'll get Mordin or Legion.

I also agree on the rocket troopers. Theyve adopted this "shoot from the hip" thing that pisses me off.

I dig my Garrus figure. I think the aliens all look pretty good, but I didn't like Shep and Miranda at all. Granted, as figures go, the whole line could certainly have turned out better. Could always wait for that Play Arts Garrus. I know I'm buying the shit out of that one.

The legion looks great but not sure why they gave him the Mantis and Garrus the Widow since they each have never used the other and the other always used the previous... yeah that made sense.

Rocket Troopers I think have doubled their fire rate and no longer have that 1-2 second pause before firing, I have found that the nimble classes can still avoid them just fine, i listen for the sound queue for the firing instead of the animation and if you dodge right of left they miss everytime. I have also seen Primes that seem to fire their pulse cannon a lot more, but that might just be me.

The Shadow and the Slayers' Slash moves are entirely overpowered and nerf worthy IMO. with a 2 second cooldown even at 90% recharge while using the Harrier, you can spam that thing through everything for 20 or 30M. I was a Shadow, my buddy used a slayer, and we duo'd a Silver with problems only on a few objective parts. When we mixed in a Fury and anyone with a Tech burstable ability, shit was just blowing up all over the place. Being able to freight train 20M with a 1300 damage power every 2 seconds, add in a Tactical Cloak Bonus... it is by far the strongest power in the game.

and with grenade capacity V with the Destoyer, Demolisher, or pretty much anyone that has grenades toting 9 - 12 of them.... carpet bomb central.

Krogan Battlemaster!!! F'n finally.
Eh I think the figures have the "old packs", as it seems the packs have been upgraded over time. It'd be better to just have a points code with the figure.

Edit: Scratch not having an Earth Class, just unlocked N7 Destroyer! Wow after nothing, back to back char unlocks.

Hey, nice going, Spy!! I need both of those classes. I love the N7 Fury, but I'm hoping the allied goal is met because I'm itching for a new character to screw around with.

Back on the figure topic....those Play Arts figures are SICK. I'd love to buy up Shep, Garrus and Tali. But, I'm on a self-imposed "no collectibles over $20, unless they are LotR or Hobbit related legos" mandate. No fancy action figures for me.

Yea, but Chubbs...look at the weapons they gave the characters.

A friggin' Vindicator and an Incisor for Garrus? Garrus wouldn't be caught dead with those weapons.

An Eagle for Shepard? Only in madness would he dare.

An Avenger and a Katana for Ashley? Not bad weapons, but something the N7 program gives its soldiers?

For shame. For shame.

He he, yeah I'd love to mess around with the N7 Fury. I was juuuuusssttt cutting up enemies to shreds last night. Using the demolisher's fire rate increase mode and the Harrier, lol I would unload bullets, yeah yeah I know not actual bullets ;), into my enemies. It reminded me of all fire mode in Mechwarrior ha. The attached rocket launcher on your shoulder is also a nice touch, Iron Man anyone?! :bouncy: Plus that Terminus armor looks so badass. Of course the multifrag, don't leave home without it.
homing grenade (aka omni hand mortar)/split nade is awesome...that is all.
I haven't messed much with the split nade evolution. The armor piercing on the thing is ridiculous though. That + Harrier = Banshees scraps. Shit's pretty great.

Fury's fighting--and winning, it seems--for my favorite Adept spot. This class is too much fun. The Piranha also seems more ridiculous every day I play. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be on the chopping block sooner or later.

you figure they release an op wpn or two, get everyone playing, then cut back on it.

my current pet peeve are soliders camping my dispenser. I understand I am an engineer and the dispenser is for everyone but I only have my pistol and my nades...there is no other offensive power. So I started putting the dispenser next to the ammo crate.

(From the bioware blog), lol I always just viewed it as a LED light that illuminates when Quarians talk.
the dispenser is for everyone
Yeah dude, screw that. That shit's yours.

Since it's a very camp-oriented class, I find it's handy to actually take cover (waist high) and hit Y to drop the dispenser from there. It actually plants it in the wall and allows you to sidle right past it. Makes it way easier for you to get your reserves before anyone hounds the pylon.

Also, dunno what your cooldown's like, but you get a new reserve as soon as you drop a new pylon. Once you get that cooldown figured out, it's a free 2 grenades (if you spec'd that way) every few seconds. Spam on.

Also, @ Spy: Emergency. Induction. Port.

Why just the pistol? unless you move that sucker around a ton, you can strap on any gear ya want. I run Widow X and Harrier on mine, give my Pylon about a 25 Second recharge, but everything else is nade tossin. With Grenade Cap V and all the + Nade options, you rock 13 grenades. really the only time i move it is if we retreat on boss waves, and at extraction.

I am very disappointed in the Missile Launcher on my Destroyer and specced out of it completely, with 9 multifrags and destroyer mode, diving in and bombing stuff really makes it hard to wait for missiles to shoot every 4 seconds, let alone the fact they cut your shields in half.

Starting to love the Paladin a little more everytime i play him, but as far as contribution to the team... he just cannot compare to the other N7 classes. He is handy, has nice tools and debuffs, and is cool as a character concept (I even speccd him into a N7 Crusader Shotgun and a Paladin IV for fun) but he is hard to excel at anything and unless the opponents are focused on you, your shield ( which you cannot adjust height on so they can fire right over you ) does you no good.

@ - Iank - cool, didnt know you can plant it on the wall. I have the refresh upgrades for it mainly cause I need to lob nades as often as I can. I might not need to respec ever since the split nades is working out well. I was going to go arc grenade because of how effective it is vs geth farming.

@ - Freemason - I'm using the pistol because I honestly find myself spamming homing grenades more, and the pistol is effective for me short and long range. I was trying out my...Valiant VI (yeaaaah dawg) but then I find myself sniping more and not spamming nades. I was using the scorpion pistol btw, because unless you have infinite ammo it's not very good. I'm going to try the GPS next since I got the equipment back that boost shotty dmg and +1 nade cap. I don't have the nade equipment yet, if i did I probably would respec to arc grenades so i can spam throw them faster.

@ - Spybreak - so sad, they spent so much time rendering Tali's helmet but spent like 2 seconds on the glass and lime.

I gotcha, I generally use my weapons to soften up hard targets before bombing them, with 13 nades, im speccd full in homing and arc minus the last evolution and ill snipe, spam nades to flatten a group, reload, spam, snipe, repeat. I pretty much just compliment the nades with weapons i can use at any range on any map... i have yet to get the Scorpion.. it is one of my elusive ultra rares hidden among all these damn ammo bonuses... i shit you not i got 5 armor pierce IV and another Cyclonic IV out of my last 3 packs... sigh

i can believe that, IanK got like 4 ultra rares in 5 packs...2 of which were in succession iirc. n7 trolls me everything they gives me the saber.

First night Earth dropped. Didn't get a single character, but got FIVE ultra-rares.

Now that I have all of the new characters maxed out, sure enough, nothing but ammo.

Almost about to join you there. Missing one more appearance option for the Grenadier and then it's on to ammo cards. Hate 'em.

hold on, I need to download the tiny violin app for my omni glove.

yeah its annoying, got two mroe packs today, got 2 warfighter upgrades and 2 ammos and a 3rd bonus .... armor power.... for shits sake. in the last maybe 15 premiums i have gotten 3 items, upgrade to Talon and Paladin and then a Javelin.... siiiiigh

Yea, I hear you. Just finished all characters and bought a Premium Spectre Pack. And...ammo/armor power. Couldn't care less for that trash. At least allow us to X out the perma mods before giving us the garbage, ffs.

I unlocked the N7 Typhoon tonight. Haven't tried it yet, though. It looks like it packs a wallop, but it's heavy as shit. No way I can roll with a pistol or smg unless I completely don't care about recharge. #cansomeonegivemeademolisherplease

Best bet is to use the Typhoon with the Destroyer. No need for CDs. Pack all the firepower you want.

I usually run Harrier/Piranha on mine. Tried it with the Claymore, but didn't like the 1-shot aspect of it.

nope Pirahna all he way with that beast. the accuracy, rate of fire, and clip bonus with destroyer mode makes it a waaaaaay better choice. i run that same set up with grenade cap V, 9 multifrags = awesome carpet bombs... i really want the Typhoon for him and have been trying for just that one gun, particle rifle, and the scorpion is all i have left to unlock. Typhoon would also go good on the krogan Sentinel or Soldier where i spec only in grenades and leave out Carnage.

Need something for distance shots. Harrier/Piranha all the way for me. With the 60% magazine boost and extended magazine, the Harrier has 48/80. Not too shabby. Slap on Thermal Clip Storage V and it might even be perfect.

Until the Typhoon. Might even try the Particle Rifle.

If I ever get either of them.

Yeah, I'm loving the Piranha/Saber setup on mine. I was with you in trying the Claymore at first because I thought it just might get the clip extension that pretty much every other weapon does. A 2-shot Claymore would have been super tits.
Yep. Either that or she got up close and personal with a Thorian.
I guess if it's a certain asari you might run into during ME3, it might be black instead of green.

Yeah, no kidding. Would've been sick. But unfortunately, it seems BioWare rounds down, not up. Hence, 60% of 1 is 0. So, guess we'll have to settle for the Piranha, which does just fine with 12 shots.

Also, there was a good idea of how to make extracting worthwhile (aside from our resident Adrenaline junkies on here; you know who you are :p) that seemed to be gaining decent amounts of traction on the BSN.

The basic gist of the idea is that you get a token for extraction (didn't quite read how it took Lone, Partial, Full into account). Bronze = 1 token, Silver = 2 tokens, Gold = 3 tokens, Platinum = 4 tokens. Once you've accumulated a set number of tokens (50,75, depends), you can trade them in for an Ultra Rare pack which would contain 1 random Ultra Rare (although, I think an idea BioWare would go more for is to have the pack be one better than PSP; maybe one that excises ammo/armor power cards). A BioWare dev chimed in and said they liked the idea too.

in all honestly it was really hard to not get this one...but I'm glad we all get more earth characters or at least more character appearance options.

next operation will likely be much harder since this one was a no brainer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 31, 2012
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

N7 Typhoon Assault Rifle
- Damage multiplier when fully ramped up decreased from [2.0x] to [1.5x]

N7 Indra Sniper Rifle
- Damage increased from [62.6-78.2] to [72.6-92.2]

Prothean Particle Beam Assault Rifle
- Damage increased from [17.2-21.4] to [19.2-25.8]

Smash Power
- Base cooldown increased from 5 to 8 seconds

Devastator Mode Power
- Base rate of fire bonus decreased from 15% to 10%

Incinerate Power
- Base damage increased from 300 to 330

Carnage Power
- Base damage increased from 315 to 350

Pull
- Impact damage for all kits with pull is now 100 to match Asari Justicar
- Rank 3 duration bonus increased from 40% to 50%
- Evolve 1 duration bonus increased from 50% to 100%
- Evolve 2 radius bonus increased from 2m to 2.5m
- Evolve 3 lifted damage per second increased from 20 to 75
- Evolve 4 extra damage done to targets increased from 25% to 30%
- Evolve 5 biotic combo damage bonus increased from 50% to 75%
- Evolve 6 recharge bonus increased from 60% to 150%

Gold and Platinum Difficulties
- Enemy shield/barrier damage gates on weapon damage reduced from 100% to 90%, which
means 10% of the remaining weapon damage after impacting shields/barriers will pass
through to health.

Not too bad for balance changes all around. Not happy about the Typhoon nerf, but I saw it coming a mile away. Also, I did hear it was rather OP, so I guess that's fine. And, didn't know it originally did 2.0x dmg at full spool.

The last point, however, is very interesting.

Yeah, this objective was a slow pitch, but I still appreciate it. Now, if it just pays off for me I'll be really happy (c'mon N7 Shadow, you know you want me too).
