Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread
Try the discussion tab of the spoiler social group on BioWare's forum. Just browsing the thread titles isn't too spoilery, so you can pick and choose what you want to read about and hopefully not get too spoiled on whatever you don't want to know.
Yeah, I stumbled across that earlier. Most of what I'm reading there syncs up with what I've read on my own inside the leaked files I've gotten my hands on. There's definitely a few decisions that went into the game that left me with a raised eyebrow asking myself "...really?". That's about all I can say about that without getting spoiler-y.

Hey,
I know this isn't at all related to Mass Effect 3, but does anybody know what is the track/song playing when Shepard takes Liara for drinks after the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC i the Normandy.

NVM: Found it. Its called virgil.
I unfortunately can't answer that as I opted out of info fishing soon after the initial leak. I'm positive Ryu is much more current than I am at the moment. You could chance browsing the last 10 - 20 pages of the Story Leak discussion thread on BSN if you're a gambling man. A 60 - 80% of time someone is responding to a mass quoting of summarized information. The problem is you'd most likely have to dodge meticulously detailed debates on every version of the script to find it otherwise. Thankfully some of them started camouflaging their spoilers before I stopped lurking a week ago. There's a no spoiler tag on it now so the choice is yours. Either way you should be able to find enough info to form a general opinion.
I read the endgame and it doesn't seem like a DEM. How else could they be expected to overcome?

ME3 spoiler discussion...
I typically consider something a DEM if it comes out of no where near the end and somehow magically fixes stuff...like the butler in SpiderMan 3. In this case, the DEM-itude of the plot depends on how you look at it. I believe the potential DEM is first introduced in the first couple missions, making it a game long goal. If you look at just ME3, it's something that spans the game. If you look at the entire ME trilogy, it looks like something that was introduced at the last moment before the "final conflict" that'll magically end the conflict.

Personally I was hoping they'd kill reapers by weaponizing Mass Effect relays. They've been in the game since the beginning and we've seen how destructive they are when blown up in the Arrival DLC. It'd also be less DEM'y than a device introduced in the finale.

I think the mass relays are used from discussion I've seen. There was specific discussion of what would be done when they were cut off from the mass relays. This is very similar to the plot of the fall of Hyperion novel, which is regarded as one of the best scifi novels of the past two decades or so.

I dig the hawk but can't get on board with the Motoko Kusanagi influenced outfit for Jack just yet. Dope hoodie. I just wouldn't spend over $30 for it.

Yeah, the hair looks pretty sweet (I really like the Paris Hilton poof thing she has going on top, oddly), but I haven't made up my mind about the outfit yet. I didn't make the connection to Kusanagi but now that you say that, I can definitely see it. It's the shoulders.

A sniper rifle in the concept art though? Very un-Jack.

What do they charge for those hoodies in the BioWare merch store, like $60-70? Having Shepard wear one on the Normandy is a nice compromise. Plus, no having to explain what "N7" means to relatives and such.
I guess that means I'm gonna have to buzz my head and dye everything dark brown since Shepard and I will be matching now
Know what's funny? I cut my own hair and I shaved my head much shorter than I usually do this past time (which my wife hated) and I was all like "hells yeah, I'm rocking the Shepard look" and I put on my N7 hoodie. I felt like a giant dork, but damn I love Mass Effect. Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks along those lines.

And for the CE video.....This is going to be one friggin awesome CE. My one gripe is that the avatar Normandy that comes with the CE is the same as the PAX give-away (which I paid way too much money for), but the video said "bonus avatars"....as in plural...so maybe there is hope for more. Also, the music in that video was great. Reminiscent of ME1, which is a good thing.

There are three different hoodies. The old one which is like $58 (or as low as $24 on sale, which is when I got it) and these come in multiple colors. Then there is the Shepard Armor one for $88, it's kind of gawdy and too expensive, IMO. Lastly, the best one, the "elite" armor, which is very similar to the old one, but with stitched patterns and not just screenprinting. That one is $74 (was $60 up until last Sunday). Also comes in multiple colors and that's the one to get.

I'm a biowarestore junkie. If you want to keep track, friend treehouse on facebook.

Oh, and I have the N7 decal on my Jeep and I wear a ME3 lanyard at work where lanyards are required for our ID badges. I get comments from other gamers, so it's a cool conversation starter and I've met fellow gamers at work because of it. Same thing a few years ago when I wore a Halo 3 lanyard at work.
Vanguard is, and always will be, the only way to play Mass Effect
This, I'm afraid. Although I will have to check out that omni blade melee power with the Engineer class.

I've been so busy with work and holiday stuff I kind of forgot that next month is January and the official ME3 trailer will in our hands next month. Cannot freaking wait.

By the way, did you guys see that they ARE releasing a 2nd wave of figures? Check biowarestore.com. Garrus, Mordin, Miranda and Legion. Gotta get those (minus Miranda).

will I have to hold on to Battlefield 3 to play this demo? or is there any way to access it thru EA if I already redeemed the online code for BF3? kinda wanna get rid of battlefield 3, cant get into it

But... DAT ASS.

I just watched the new trailer. It's not like anything was spoiled, per se, but if that's something they're comfortable showing now, I can't imagine what the end battle will be like. The set pieces and action sequences in ME3 look amazing.

I was excited to hear Garrus. I mean, we knew he was in the game, but I just dig the character. He's been my go-to guy for the entire series and I'm a big fan.

And is it just me or is Mr. Vega a bit of a potty-mouth? Joking, of course, I just hope that new character doesn't turn out to be a douche.
Thresher Maw vs a Reaper? YES PLEASE!

That was quite an amazing sequence they showed. It was also nice to see Wrex again.
Yeah it was.
Don't force yourself to watch that abomination of an awards show:

Thanks X.
ME3 won Most Anticipated Game, so at least the show got one thing right.
That was a given. :D

Though, there were a couple of trailers that looked good, such as Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us.

Skyrim winning GOTY was a good thing IMO. I fully expected Uncharted 3 to get it, which I can't wait to play (I'm still on skyrim).

edit: Wild speculation. Saving the Rachni allows you to get thresher maws on your side as the Rachni can communicate with them.

I thought maybe they were just at the clan initiation site from ME2 and Shepard hit the button to begin the ceremony and call the Maw.

When Shepard hit the button and incidentally summoned a Thresher Maw, all I could think of was "C'mon Shepard, hit the Keystone!" on forever-repeat and my day got worse. (I still hate you for that, Grunt)

...at least until the end of the video.

Ashley in Spectre Armor:

Maybe now the lore nerds will find a new "issue" to passionately petition against. Wait - I spoke too soon. Now they're debating on the size of her chest plate and whether or not she has implants.

Anyway... the ME FB page is having a caption contest for the picture. If you're into free stuff knock yourself out.

I have to admit... I am a big Ashley fan and I did prefer her old buttoned-up, all-business soldier look to her new glammed-up style. I think she was more distinct before, now she vaguely looks like another Miranda, and I love Miranda, but one is enough. It's hardly the end of the world though.

After the Horizon debacle I wasn't at all surprised by her new look. Mainly because she always came across to me as that inwardly feminine to begin with.

Exactly my feelnigs. That's the reason I romanced her. It's not common that you see a strong female character in games that doesn't have some physical attribute exaggerated to make her attractive (as opposed to defenseless princess stereotype that is inherently attractive). This new Ashely I expect to catch her with duck lips in a photo with her friends.

When did Ashley become a Spectre?

Oh great another god damned poem.
When did Ashley become a Spectre?
Her armor says "S1" on it, unlike Shepard's "N7" armor.

I guess "S1" is a Junior Spectre? Spectre Light? Quasi-Spectre?

Remember, "N7" is an Alliance military designation and not connected to the Spectres or the Councel at all. Maybe she didn't make N7 rank? Which gets me thinking, we've never seen another N7, have we? Not even Anderson, the first Human to even be considered for Spectre induction, made it to N7, I believe.
