XP (and anyone else interested), if you're around tonight, my buddy from work and I might try to run some golds. I need moar packz. Gotta get my dinosaur.
you're usually on earlier so hit me up when I'm on, I have some Gears Horde insanity I'll be doing later that evening...but I'm down for Gold maps of course. I want to test the dinosaur in CQC w/a coherent squad.
So JEALOUS.
Aside from Biotic Charge, the only difference between the 3 Krogans is the awesome looking armor that makes you look like a dinoawesomesauce. I don't know y u so jelly? OH wait...nvm.

I scored the Krogan Vanguard last night in my first 99k pack. I like it so far, but I need a better shotgun for him. Pretty annoying to not have any sort of combat roll, but I will make due. His melee seems fun at least.

I'd disable combat roll in single-player in a heartbeat if I could.

SP related question
I know some side missions have somewhat of a timer on it, i.e. cerberus N7, if you don't address them within a few mass relay jumps they're no long available. I'm between finding the bomb and curing the genophage but I want to clean up some more side quests before they no longer become available. Is there something that happens if I go do everything else right now? I have some artifacts to find (map marker pulsing) and there's some krogan scouts I want to save.
To add to what Shrike said you will also want to do anything Citadel related at that point (ie, anything on the Citadel itself or even if it just requires you to find something via scan/Spectre Requisitions and return it to someone on the Citadel).
This works just fine with the Engineer as well as far as i can assume, I just do not have the Geth Engineer unlocked lol. You can cloak but as soon as you fire you pop out so i would actually PREFER to get the engy for it.
OK, that's what I thought. So I got a pretty cool character. Like I said before, I actually got both Geth from one premium pack. I have him up to level 19 now and I am routinely first or second in kills whereas with my other chars I was nearly always last. I redeemed a second one last night and got a Salarian of some sort - none of the new ones.
geth engineer with geth plasma shotgun X is the most fun I've had in this MP
I have yet to get any Geth weapons but I am ready to go if I do - have the 10% Geth weapon upgrade next in my upgrade queue. So you can upgrade weapons past V in multiplayer? I guess that is another way to that achievement vs. a second run in single player. My assault weapon and pistol are currently at IV. It must take a hell of a lot of packs to get a secondary weapon like that Geth shotgun and then upgrade it to X. Once I hit IV or V, what packs should I be getting for better weapons and V->X upgrades? I assume the Recruit Pack will stop being worth it as it will never have the better upgrades. And the Premium Spectre Pack is probably overkill for just trying to get that stuff.
I wish I could change classes when you import, I really wanted to try out a adept without having to refind and acquire all my wpn upgrades and assets.
Damn, I guess I remember this from ME2 but it is going to make an Insanity run in ME3 pretty hard since I'm a Vanguard in SP. Shoclwave and Pull are pretty useless - looks like you need Throw to make Insanity much easier. My son has gone through about half the game on Insanity as a Sentinel. ME2 was painfully hard in Insanity with the Vanguard but I got it done. It just seems like there are many more tougher enemies in ME3 though (Atlas, Banshee, Brutes, etc) and I noticed that Shockwave, in particular, was far less useful in ME3 than it was in ME2. I chose Vanguard specifically for that and it turned out I didn't use it all that much in ME3. And Pull is not nearly as good as Throw.

Oh good God, if I could punch a random ME3 MP player right now I would. I've been trying for 40 minutes to just get in a good game. I don't even care what level or what map. Is anyone with half a brain online tonight??

Maybe that's a sign I need to start my insanity playthrough......

With a high cooldown percentage, vanguard seemed more than viable for an insanity run.

I was running around with Javik and Liara, though. Usually started off by pulling an unshielded enemy with Javik, charge and detonate an explosion. Then midcharge or before I'd have set up another explosion with Liara, and detonate that with nova. I only got to Priority: Tuchanka, so I didn't encounter any banshees, so I can't comment on how hard they are. Brutes weren't that big of a deal, nor were atlases. It's usually the little guys running around pelting you while fighting the big guys that were the problem, but as a vanguard, it's pretty simple to break off and mop up the area while fighting the bigger ones.

Despite the many times I ended up faceplanting because I didn't analyze the battlefield properly and got stuck overextended in enemy territory, it was definitely more satisfying than my adept insanity run, but I didn't like the critical choices I made on that ME2 import save for my vanguard, so I ended up shelving that career.

Hell, I can only imagine the exploding potential of a save with Kaidan in it. Sadly, if I want to experience area reave + charge / nova in single player, I'm going to have to start from scratch in ME1 or ME3 to do that. And considering the default choices made starting fresh in ME3, I'd probably go the ME1 route.

Talking about this is making me want to play MP, but I've been getting disconnected from the servers a lot lately, and I feel like a douche when that happens. Probably see how my luck fairs tonight.

I've been running into a very different problem. Out of my last 10 games, 9 times the 4th player has left the mission part way in. It's really getting annoying.

On the plus side, I've been having tons of fun with my Salarian Infiltrator, now that he has his Valiant :D
How am I supposed to play a Geth Engineer, exactly? I tried playing him but I got my butt destroyed.
I dunno, man, I'm not very good compared to most people in general but I do pretty well with this guy. Maybe it just suits my style of play or something.

Are you using Hunter mode? With that you can see all the enemies behind cover (and smoke) and that seems to be enough to give me the upper hand in a lot of situations. You can do a quick 360 and see if anything is sneaking up on you - then concentrate on the area with the most enemies. I definitely see the hordes coming before the other players. Also, the turret is awesome - just chuck it out where there's a choke point or spawn point (or in the midst of an oncoming horde) and it will rack up assists for you if nothing else. Then you also get to spam Overload. I usually hit something with overload, then pound it with the Assault rifle. You have to be a little careful with shields in Hunter mode since they are weaker. And the washed out colors and white lines all over the screen make it hard to navigate the levels. The times I get killed it is usually because I'm bumping into an obstacle I can't see and getting blasted by something at the same time.
I'm around and fairly bored at the moment. If anyone wants to play, get at me. GT: N7 HydroX
Hunter Mode, toss turrets behind mobs or as a sentry, i use pistol only and a geth SMG and spam overload and shoot em in the face. I prefer to play the Sentinel and Adept but each class does have a playstyle its own and when you get the one you fall into, you will notice your ranking rise. I play Bronze during the day while my kids are running around in case i need to step away quick, but 98% of the time i am ALWAYS first place unless i am just weapon testing and even then most of the time.

Striker AR + Turian Soldier + Marksman + AR stability mod + Armor piercing mod or extended clip = mass area carpet bombing.

I never really understood the point of Hunter Mode. All I know is that it makes it a lot harder to see things and it doesn't go away until you de-activate it. I think the Turret is good, but Overload is well, overload. I think what bothers me about the Geth Engineer the most is his low health stat. 325 just doesn't cut it, especially when shields are cut through like paper by the AI.

Also, played a bit of SP tonight, and it's going to be annoying when I finally try to beat it due to the fact that I'd need 100% of the Galaxy behind me to get all of the choices available to me. I'd need to play an hour of MP before trying to finish the final 2 hours or so. What a crock.

My wife and I were laughing our asses off tonight. I was in a random Silver group. I was eating dinner so mostly I was just spamming throw. Around wave 7, everyone's down but me, so I do what I can to survive, but in the end I get hit from behind, game over. Then as I'm bleeding out, the shit talking starts. "Opterasis must be level 1, all he did was throw, he's so bad, learn how to play, blah blah blah." Then the final scoreboard comes up after I bleed out, and I was in first place by plenty. Is it really necessary to badmouth someone because they're spamming one button when they're obviously keeping up?

IanK his crew and I have a found a new and rewarding way to play MP gold.

Embracing the beauty of the Buttarian hvy melee. We played several 3 vs MP Gold doing nothing but 1 tech power and hvy melee. Slappy happy hilarity followed...I don't know why it was so funny, or why it was so effective it was but it worked.

In other news.

Human soldier, geth SMG, heat sink, extended thermal clip and A_Rush resulted in seemingly endless fire. The "blowdryer" or turbine engine was highly effective and entertaining w/"type" ammo.

New life in MP all because of the DLC & some CAG's.

True you have limited health but that ability to see enemies before anyone else is invaluable if you relay that information. Also It's so satisfying getting headshot after headshot when enemies are behind cover, (or cloaked). Oh hey there nemesis, I didn't see you. Oh wait no yeah I did, headshot!

I'll be on this weekend, hockey playoffs have eaten into my game time. I've started to mesh experiencing both at the same time lol, intense to say the least.

I swear to fucking jebus I have beaten every damn map on gold twice now and I still cant get this cheesemint. Seriously starting to grind my nerves.

Dude, we played until like 4. Me, Jelks, Duke, and a random (who felt the pressure and went Batsoldier) actually beat like six golds. Several full extractions. Two Batarian Soldiers, a Justicar, and my Battlemaster (!!!!!)

We actually effectively rushed the Geth. Justicar would run up and plant her bubble, my charge would detonate, Carnage staggered, and the Batarian's blades and falcon punches were stupid effective.

Battlemaster took me a lot of getting used to, having never gotten into Vanguards. I don't see me tanking him out. I like hanging back and supporting with Carnage/detonating Biotic Explosions, then nailing AoE charges and mopping up with melee. It doesn't get me high on the results screen, but who gives a shit about that anyway. He's a blast.

The Batarians both strike me as very viable characters. I actually think the Soldier slightly outclasses the Sentinel. Those Ballistic Blades are just too good.

I'm a bigger fan of the Justicar today than I was before. I like her being played offensively though. Sneaking up to plant her sphere on enemies/detonate is a strong way to play.

Unlocked the Geth Engie last night, but had to get some sleep. Looking forward to trying him out this weekend. Wondering if I should spec Hunter Mode for him or not. I don't care about being able to see through walls with him, but the speed/power up on powers might be nice (as opposed to the straight damage route I went with the Infiltrator.)

tl;dr: Batarians and Krogans are beautiful together.

holy crap 4?

I unlocked the Bat_sent last night, I gotta spec him out and see how I can abuse the web. I just need more cards so I can make him look like spiderman. so instead of 2 Butt_soldiers blade blasting, hvy melee, gooing them up with the stickies might be just as viable...just need to find the right way to use it.

so all im missing is the geth infiltrator.

some guides have confirmed that if you play story mode (the one where combat is a joke) you can switch the insanity difficulty just before the missions ends and it counts towards the mission tally. Then switch back if the game is too challenging for you. I'm going to start doing this during my hardcore PT1/import just incase when I play on insanity PT2/import I don't accidently miss out on any of the must do missions for the achievement to pop.

That's just for Unwavering right? I can't imagine that works for the actual Insanity achievement.

correct, just Unwavering. which seems to be glitching for some ppl trying to get it through MP Gold maps. Hardcore RPG/PT1/Import w/a soldier has been challenging but nothing I can't get through. Esp beating MW1 and MW2 on the insane + the mile high club, I don't think ME3 could be any harder than that unless I purposely spec'd to fail.

Yeah I've heard of Unwavering glitching for people, even purely in single player, which totally sucks.

I would advise anyone going for this to just do it legit, play through all the missions in an Insanity playthrough and knock out both difficulty achievements at the same time. The game is honestly not very difficult compared to ME2.

Is this issue recent? Maybe because of the new maps? I haven't heard about this but then I've had it since week 1 and none of my friends have had trouble getting it except one. I was talking to him about it yesterday and I figured he was just missing a map or something.

Unlock the battlemaster but no other chars.....cant seem to get an upgrade on the Mattock or the mattock like pistol.

Now I know I haven ripped people being elitist in the game before but 2 days in a row I have seen people use rockets under the 4th round.....WAAAAA? Today I saw a guy use a rocket on a single "last target" atlas. Pfft the kill and the XP mean nothing but if you are going to use rockets at least wait until we are swarmed to death in the 8th round.

That shit's the worst. Just like medi-geling on wave 1. I played with a guy in the first week who would use all of his rockets before wave 3 and then get mad when we didn't follow suit. I guess he wanted to win without bullets?

Hey guy wants a challenge . Early rockets are actually understandable if people have 5, I use mine randomly too.

Gonna try to get on tonight, I'm starting to get withdrawals since it's been like two weeks since I last played

They're not understandable on a group of Husks and a Cannibal. Hahaha.

you know what...ive seen ppl never use rockets, so if some randoms want to use it wave 4 or earlier on gold. Let them, chances are we probably won't make it past wave 7 so I'll be happier knowing I spent less effort and time trying to take down an atlas when random used a rocket. You have 4-5 rockets? some rounds don't even have hvy resistance just a swarm of troops. Between 4 players, I want to see rockets flying at the often.

as for the map glitch? no it was b4 the DLC, ppl were saying they've been beating gold MP and still haven't had it unlock.

I'm definitey doing a legit insanity PT after this hard core one.

Maybe they missed the brute....on the other side of the map hahah. Speaking of missing, we've all had those fml moments from before we learned to aim at the ground ;)

randoms = random action and effectiveness.

if i had 50+ cobra missiles...hold on. C O B R A ! I think I'd be shooting an avg of 4 missiles every gold match after we hit wave 6. You've seen me play, I fire at least 2 a game because Geth primes and phantomy atlases love getting war_head. I'm a time saver, war_head saves time and medi gel.

missing the banshee because the missile flew through her legs was my first fml moment.

a lot can be learned from Halo 3/Reach MP when using the missile launcher. :D

Haha, the issue here is that you just don't know the guy I had to play with. You'd hate it, trust me.

I've had plenty of Secret Service Brutes hop right in front of the President Banshee to take a missile for her though. They're so
damned honorable. Be lying if I said I never just shot the wall in front of me too, haha.

XP: Yeah, he wasn't random. I have to see him pretty much everyday. My hatred seeeeethes.

I played roughly 3 games today, and I'm almost able to buy another Premium Spectre Pack. Hopefully I'll get a character in it in addition to the one they'll give away for free for playing this weekend.

Ugh. Yeah. PUGs are like pulling teeth at times. I've seen so many new players that have all the "good stuff" unlocked, and they play like buffoons. It makes me sick. On the other hand, I couldn't buy a half decent upgrade if I wanted to (trust me, I tried!). I'm almost ready to stop using credits on anything above a Veteran pack altogether due to the fact that I keep getting the same shit (Character XP / Thermal Clips) over and over again and become increasingly frustrated while everyone else has all characters unlocked, etc.

tl,dr: QQ.
