Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

Actually, it's funny you should mention that. On the BSN, those who received their Victory Packs early, said that they weren't able to access MP.

yikes, sory you guys are having issues, i have been losing connection from games a TON lately with no problems on my end I know of. I got kicked twice from lobbies after a game with my Krogan Sentinel and a nice mesage that said "hackin piece of shit go play MW3"

I Love me some Mass Effect, and i like to own faces as much as thr next guy, but man XBL always ends up ruining things for me. I may go back to some SP for a while and would also like to pick up Witcher 2, and i got the Assassins Creed series coming so i can finally get a full playthrough of the series done.

The connection problems are more probably the fault of EA Servers, especially for ME3.

I hardly ever get connection issues for other games when I play MP. ME3 is the only game it's been consistent in so far.
You both should consider yourselves lucky. I haven't been able to play at all soon after I received my Victory Pack along with plenty of others. Who knows how long it is going to take to fix this mess. Thankfully I have plenty of seasons of 24 left to watch and I might be able to swing a copy of The Witcher 2 later this week.

God I hope I can find a new pick up and play title to take over later this year.
I'll be in Diablo 3, if you fancy that

Free: I feel your pain. The main reason I started delving into the co-op scene is because I've nearly ran my course with the competitive side of things. Too much drama, bullshit lag, nickle and diming, broken promises and appeasing whichever side of the fanbase is louder or controls the largest slice of revenue. Every game I genuinely enjoy is either ruined by the fans or developers yearning for more of the former. I'm sick to death of wasting my money.

Co-op usually much less stressful... considerably free of the usual nonsense, but ME3 is slowly but surely proving to be no different than your average mp shooter wackness. Elitist community, constant complaints about complainers or other irrelevant bullshit, nonsensical nerfing and e-peen contests a plenty. If it weren't for it being the one version of horde mode I could stomach then I would have stopped playing a long time ago.

If RE6 is capable of providing the same RE5 co-op experience gave me I'll be forever thankful. I have a hell of a lot more fun helping strangers in a level than trying to carry them in a TDM format. Either way AC is a great series to get into so enjoy it. I still need to finish AC2, but I started with Revelations last month and haven't regretted buying the trilogy. Ezio is one hell of a great character.

Dual: Yet another series I've heard nothing but great things about that I'll never play because I'm a console gamer for life. ;(

So true... so sadly true. Usually i stick to games i can play with my friends now for these reasons since i quit competitive gaming after COD4 with a group of guys i have known since 1999. BUT, some have moved on, several are PC only gamers, one is recovering from a serious accident, two are hardly ever online anymore... and sadly I have not much left for regular gaming buds. SO, i am off to indulge my SP gaming for a bit, and back to old school Everquest at night with the wifey. But, i got a nice list of games to work through...

Borderlands 2 then? It has been described as "Diablo with guns" :D

Again you are preaching to the choir my friend. My "Xbox family" as I'd refer to them (all of them Gears of War vets who taught me everything I've ever known about the game) have all but disappeared. Most of them are either starting college, workaholics, have families or quit the series like I did. Sadly those few who aren't using their boxes as a glorified Netflix machine are still MP junkies that haven't the slightest idea what I backlog is so when we finally find a new game it either sucks, gets ruined, the community disappears or life takes over and I eventually sell my neglected copy.

I seriously miss a lot of them, but life goes on and I suppose that's what Facebook is for, eh? Sadly none of us actually use our profiles for more than a couple of weeks to months at a time. I'll admit I'm a creature of habit though as well a bit of a loner, but lately I've been actually trying to play with most of the new adds to my FL. Still ain't the same though and even the new guys are barely on as it is, mad quiet, or in full games anyway. /shrug
Borderlands 2 then? It has been described as "Diablo with guns" :D
I thought the first game sucked ass so I hope that isn't the case, but Borderlands 2 is definitely on the radar though more out of desperation than anything else. If the storyline isn't ANYTHING like the original game I'll probably buy it. If it IS... then I'm selling it asap.

Storyline? Someone bought Borderlands for the story? Really?

All joking aside, I think most people bought it because it really was FPS Diablo.

Ha, ha, ha. Real funny. ;P

In my defense it was more than just the storyline that bothered me. Once I realized those so called 8 million or something guns boiled down to a handful of 5 - 10 different types with randomized stats I couldn't justify spending any serious time on it. The gunplay wasn't that fun to me either and in ANY sort of RPG I need more than a lot of loot I don't need to maintain my interest. Once I knew the entire game was just a series of nonsensical fetch questing that was the final nail in the coffin.

I loved Borderlands for the first time through and the goofyness of it, but like you say, the guns all boiled down to versions of the same one... i had 3 toons maxed that would kill Crawmerax in less than 15 seconds and it was just no fun to play anymore as the challenge on any level was Gooooone.

I love mult coop games too but it seems the "good" ones are geared mroe for 2 player coop. I went all the way through Splinter Cell Convition with my buddy that was in the accident and man, that made for a memorable game experience especially the last mission. It's just hard to get that feeling of playign games for the fun anymroe its all become about K/D ratios, clan tags, T-Squared videos, hate speech, screaming teens that should really read a book, insults, gaybashing, and lamers.

What finally did Borderlands in for me, were the weapons and one weapon in particular.

First, once you have a pistol, sniper rifle, assault rifle, SMG, shotgun, grenade, RPG, and the alien weapon, each variation sounded and acted WAY too similarly. There just wasn't any variation in the way each one fired. Sounded the same, looked the same, did more or less the same damage. So boring.

Second, I picked up a literal Jackhammer. It was a shotgun that held 26 shells in the clip (increased to 40 with my Soldier), had near instant reload, perfect accuracy (made better with my Soldier skills), zoom, sick fire rate, more pellets, and insane damage. The only thing it was missing was an elemental effect, but that would've weakened it because some enemies are resistant to elemental effects. I realized right then and there, that was the perfect gun and I wouldn't find any better no matter how hard I tried.

How ironic that ME3 and Borderlands have something similar: the ending. Both are A) a joke and B) a tease.

Just saw your collection of Mass Effect stuff, Freemason: Pretty impressive. You're quite the hardcore fan. I'm a pretty huge fan too (not to the extent you are), but all I collect are the lithographs.

Yeah my soldier had one of those, and the Machine Gun that held 426 Bullets, had 4x fire damage, 90% accuracy, and all around badassery, then the revolvers with 4x poison damage or Chimera with random elemental damage.. don't get me wrong, the game is great and the writing was awesome for a light and fun tongue in cheek experience, and the coop made for fun times, but it just had no payout or challenge at higher levels at all.

Why thanks! yeah it is getting there, i hope once i move into our new house to get the man cave up and running and will make a video of all the wonders in my collection.

Bakara's the best. Came out of nowhere and became one of my favorite women in the universe.

Classic classic classic.

Eve's last line reminds me of the exchange with the prisoner on Purgatory in ME2: "I should go." "Wish I could go."

Sounds pretty similar to my experience, Panzer.

Cerberus has always bugged. They were evil scientists with a few guards in the first game, and okay their sidequest was fairly long, but it wasn't all that interesting (and it had some annoying bugs, too). Then there was a book that expanded on them or some shit and game two comes around and now they've got spies and agents, which... okay, I'll buy that, I guess. Now game three comes out and they've got this awesome army and shit.

It's like a group's capabilities are inversely proportionate to their feelings towards you. You're working for the Alliance? They need to call up their best soldier to kill a couple angry training dummies. You work for Cerberus? Now the Alliance is crashing meteors in to relays and taking the Reapers all serious-like. Back to the Alliance? Okay, now Cerberus can have giant mechs and animes and shit.

This didn't really need a spoiler tag.

Though I would have thrown a "'combat rolling' can burn with the Whore of Bablyon in a lake of shit until time itself cease to be" in just for good measure.

God that reminded me I was so looking forward to playing poker at that table, you know space poker that is, and taking all of James' money yet nothing happens in that room. >
Liara and Garrus was pretty great too, actually. He goads her the entire time.
I think any squadmate goads her on that planet/level. Although Javik offers the best dialogue BY FAR. James also poked at her a little.
So, which one are you guys? I'm a mix of the Trooper, Sniper, and the Unlucky Charm (just with the worst the match has to offer)
They should have added "End Justifies The Means" and "C.R.E.A.M." personality types since both would probably properly describe my playstyle and overall attitude. The only two things that matter to me are credits and wave completion whatever the cost. I'll solo, I'll hero, I'll martyr, I'll carry and damn you all to hell and back if it guarantees I'll get paid or end the game quicker so I can leave.

Maybe a Mercenary :p

"Ruthless to a fault"
"So long as it gets YOU and not ME"
"fast. Faster. FASTEST."

Probably sell us all into prostitution for the Reapers, if it meant more credits ;P

Technically that would make me a Batarian Sentinel only after the game I'd Submission Net the rest of the team and sell them all into galactic slavery.

Not sure which one I would be.. trooper with a voice, so The Man? Except I don't use things that compliment my team, just whatever the hell I feel like lol. Opinion Ian/100xp?

Also I'm away this week but noticed there's no balance changes wut

Also one of the cool ideas I saw on BSN was for a Ferelden/Darkspawn map.

Would be pretty sweet if we had a DLC pack that had 2-4 Dragon Age themed maps that reskinned the enemies as darkspawn, fade demons, etc.

Got my Victory Pack and it seems MP still works. Premium Spectre Packs are also out. Have yet to see the Commendation Pack though.

Damnit Edge! You beat me to it. Anyway... I'm very disappointed. They were doing so well for a while there then went right back to getting it wrong. The only real positive I see there is the Wraith buff. Everything else is either completely nonsensical, unnecessary, or changes no one in their right mind wanted e.g. XP increases.

The credit shift between the sixth and tenth waves is ESPECIALLY moronic.

MWAHAHA

Here, let me add some lemon juice to the salt in your wounds Inky ... Shoot, sorry wrong emoticon.

Hey guys! I wanted to let everyone know that the team is aware of the issues everyone is discussing in this thread and are feverishly working on a solution. This is our number one priority, and I don't have a firm ETA of when this will be resolved, however, this is being taken very seriously.
I appreciate your patience. We'll update you guys when we have more information.
I should go.

UPDATE:

Hi again everyone! I just wanted to update you that the multiplayer issues some customers have been experiencing should be resolved. Please reach out to me @jessicamerizan on Twitter if you are still having problems. Thank you so much for your patience!

Operation Exorcist packs should unlock for players this evening!

Psht... I'll believe it when I see it. I'll hop on later tonight, but won't be surprised if I'm still locked out. This stupid ass
hang glider
level in AC2 is pissing me off so I HAVE to beat it before I play anything else. Eat a dick Leonardo De Jackass. His inventions are almost more of a pain to control than the vehicles in Gears.

No reason to believe you'll still be locked out. I got my Victory Pack, opened it, and started playing a few matches. Aside from quite a few idiots (the usual), nothing was terribly off. That and EDrain suddenly not having a visual graphic.
:cold:

Remind me never to play that.
LOL. Most of time Leo restricts himself to simple health and hidden blade upgrades, but maaaaaaaannnn...
I really wish this particular assassination didn't force me to use his flying machine. The controls for it were a nightmare. The game recognized a simple dive as a suicide bombing and all that's required for a game over screen is scrapping the tail end of building. Did I mention the wings on the thing are f*cking huge and you HAVE to fly over fire pits to remain airborne? Some of which are super close to the ground or nestled in narrow paths smothered with buildings and archers?

Not fun... at all. Thankfully Ezio is totally worth the trouble. The man is a damn assassin pimp. You've got to respect it.

so i have come to the conclusion that to complete my Mass Effect full on nerdism image... I am gonna have to select two team members and use tem the whole series, go back and get two more and do it again... i am finding way too much dialogue and cutscenes (although mostly from 3) that I have not seen. I guess fi I have to. :)

I did try running on all out damage Geth Infiltrator with the Geth Shotty X... Hunter Mode + Tac Cloak + Geth Shotty = daaaaaaaaamn. I guess it resembles this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd3avm4H8vM&feature=related

but I took the Geth for the weapon bonus, and the lighter weight so i could spec into +40% Sniper Damage and take my Mantis X as well for more options.. The build here has reach, but I had flexibility. Went awesome and is a very killer combo. I specd max in fitness too and left Prox mine empty since i never use it and like the extra hits i can take.

I got the victory pack and the premium spector pack but not the other. I thought I had 2 gold that we cleared.

sweet hell, i went in to the day with a Disciple III and walked out with a Disciple IX... siiiiiiiiiiigggghhhh. Sadder than that, that was about it minus a couple mod upgrades... still no Batarian Soldier.

The unnecessary Frag buffs made Concussion Shot completely obsolete and the credit wave switch makes me feel like I'm making far less on a shitty team than I would otherwise despite the fact they said the payments haven't changed. Either that or time bonuses are absolutely MANDATORY to get the most out of a game. Terrible.

Oh, and as predicted I scored a Hurricane II which I will use with one of my kamikaze Adepts and Batarian Soldier eventually. I'm definitely buying The Witcher 2 soon. I need a break from this game.

The thing is, +10% wave 6 =/= -10% of wave 10 if that's what really happened
