Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts

The more I see the more excited I get. November has far too many AAA titles coming out, and I know ME is going to be sucking up most of that time. Maybe I should only get ME and wait for the others to get to the cheapass pricerange..hmm.

I really wish they would show a good video about the tech characters. All they talk about is biotics and gunplay, but they rarely mention the hacking char that sounds like more buff/debuff/DoT type stuff.

Hmm..Well that's good I suppose. Hopefully AC stays early November. How nice of Bioware to release the game 5 days before my birthday. Such a charming gift.

Yeah, lets hope AC ships in early November. Mass Effect and AC on the same day... my head would spin. I would have to play ME first ;)

Don't forget the fact that Rock Band has a Nov 20th release date. It's gonna be rough...

not a big rock band fan so i won't be picking that up, plus this game is my first priority over any game out this fall. I'm looking forward to this more then h3 and COD4. love bioware

Most likely because it's weak. I had full intentions of dishing out the extra 10+ for good extras, but a tiny artbook and art DVD isn't going to do it. Especially since the gold cover is ugly.

Can't wait for this game! How's the novel? Is it of as much significance as Fall of Reach was with Halo?

The novel is a decent read. It mostly gives you info on the game's universe. It also has background on some of the characters in the game like Saren and Anderson. It's not essential, but it helps in getting you familiar with the state of things.

I wonder if I'll be able to afford this game seeing as Assassins Creed comes out a week before it and Uncharted comes out on the same day.
I enjoyed the novel as well. Nothing fantastic, but ok.
I started to read it when the game was "supposed to ship late summer." When the official date was set for November 20th, I stopped reading. I figure I'll pick it up and read it in November so all the stuff in the book is still fresh in my mind. I'm not even a big science-fiction fan but Mass Effect looks fantastic.
They shouldn't announce games as being part of a trilogy if they can't guarantee if it'll happen.

I'm still mad about Advent Rising.
Me Too. I still want them to finish that series. Back on topic with Mass Effect, I hope they just don't leave a cliff hanger ending or something. That way if there is no trilogy at least it had a fullfilling ending.

I hope Bioware doesn't go down the drain becus of EA now. They are my favorite RPG developer, and would hate it if they turned into crap becus of this.

Oh man this sucks so bad. I love Bioware and feel EA will most likely destroy them. People from Bioware will eventually get fed up with EA's bullshit and leave the company, hopefully to go start a new company. This news really sucks for gamers, especially huge Bioware fans like myself.
If Mass Effect isn't the game of the year, I might cry.

Can. Not. Wait.
Well It's gonna be tough. Here's the results so far this year (for all platforms via gamerankings.)

1 - The Orange Box 360 98.2% 9 reviews
2 - Bioshock 95.5% 80 reviews
3 - Halo 3 93.8% 59 reviews
4 - Elder Scrolls: Oblivion PS3 version 93.0% 50 reviews

Now I doubt TOB is going to maintain such a high score (Bioshock had around the same for the first twenty reviews) but a 96% average is likely, and that's pretty tough to beat for a RPG. KOTOR is the only RPG to get a average over 94% in the last few years and it had 104 reviews, and that is below the Bioshock score... so prepare to cry ;)

It just sucks EA has swallowed Bioware. But for that price you would probably sell to.

Well, after reading that MS does not own the "Mass Effect" IP and Bioware does and hearing all this crazy stuff about EA ruining the trilogy, I want to say wait...

If Mass Effect does well, who is to say that EA will not want them to continue on with the game series? And if they do, who is to say it will be bad because EA bought them up? If the game does well and Bioware continues to make the others, all could end well. I say we take a wait and see approach. Maybe Mass Effect does really, really well and EA decides to have another company port the game to the PC and PS3. I think the purchase will end okay and I look forward to playing Mass Effect and it's sequels.

That's great and all, I want to see a ME trilogy too.

What I don't want to see is this game on 4 platforms. That ruins shit, just like I don't want MGS 4 on 360.. sorry, it's meant for PS3. Same goes for Mass Effect on 360.

I can't wait for Mass effect, but I don't think it is going to be game of the year. I would say most likely RPG of the year.

What's it competing with, Blue Dragon? Not like it's been a year for RPGs.
I got Game Informer, it gave Mass Effect a 9.75/10.

Here is a scan from another site of the review:

That might be the most unspecific generic review I have ever read. Basically all it gives us is an abritrary 9.75. This reminds me of that PC Gamer review of Bioshock that came out earlier than everything else. I think magazines must make deals with companies for the exclusive rights for the first review if they guarantee it will be extremely positive. Did GI even actually play the game?

They had to play the game, because they hit the problematic AI right on the head.

Can't count how many times I passed certain objectives by getting enemies to wedge themselves between objects, and they just stood there while I repeatedly shot them.

Also can't count how many times my teammates wouldn't do what I directed them to. They run to a spot I designate, and then just stand there and let themselves die.

I hope they worked out a lot of these bugs...it was the only part of the playtest I didn't like.

That's mainly why I wanted to read it, anyway. The story wasn't really that good, but it gave some good info on the history of the universe, how certain races came to power, how the humans got involved, and good descriptions of the races.

Didn't realize how soon this game is coming out, I can't wait. Hopefully most of the stuff pointed out by the GI review will be taken care of.
