Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts
That mission where you need to search the tribes of monkeys for a data disc was a refreshing change.
Where did you get that? I never picked up that quest anywhere. I got the completionist achievements but there are at least 3 side quests (not including the collect ones) that I don't recall ever getting or doing.

I also heard people talking about some "defend this point for X minutes" side quest that I never found as well as some quest to find Wrex's family armor.
I just finished my first playthrough as a paragon. I plan to do the next as a renegade.

I didn't really notice how it impacted gameplay / story, though. It still seemed I had all the "renegade" dialog choices, and as such, could make decisions either way at any point. Is there any real impact in commiting to one way or the other? Am I just overlooking something obvious?
I've already played through as a Paragon and i'm currently playing through as a Renegade and there isn't much of a difference. Although i've noticed that when you use the intimidation options that NPC's usually just give you money. Not sure if it's the same with Paragon as I wasn't able to max out Charm until near end of the game.

Either way, bottom line I haven't noticed much of a difference.
Oh you will, Renegade you kill alot of innocent victims lol
Right, but I guess what I'm saying is that as a paragon, I can still do that at each decision point - the dialog choices are still there. I guess I was thinking the nature of the choices / narative would change over time.

I even had hopes of something like a new power or sub-class group opening up at the top range of paragon. Alas.

I really loved the game, don't get me wrong, but that was a bit disappointing.

"Why didn't you save before the battle" Well it's easy to get caught up in this game and having to continuing micro save as I call it breaks the awesomeness. Something I hope they correct in the sequels.

There's one point where you can punch a girl in the face.
It's in c-sec academy when talking to the reporter.
I was a renegade at the time. Has anyone punched her in the face while a paragon?

I'm pretty sure you can do it regardless of your alignment. It just depends on having the conversation options there which either depend on nothing, or depend on your Charm/Intimidate score.
anyone else notice that the narrator for the codex is the same narrator for the game Crackdown?
Yeah it's movie theater trailer voice guy. He's cool.

Anyway, the spoiler tags are getting way too sparse in this thread so I'm bowing out.

Just finished my first one as well. Cool shit. Already getting prepped for the second run through-- was just wasting time on Eden Prime so I could get that Assault Rifle achievement--- but now that I've got it, I'm not sure if I want to use it ;).

Infiltrator is a tight class, thinking about going Vanguard with Electronics....hmm.

I know we're in the future and all but why do elevators go so slow. Serously and while you ride the elevator, load the upcoming area and textures, it's not rocket science.

Does BestBuy still have the link up to the pre-order disc that had the themes, gamerpics and videos on it? I never got one, and if I could still order it for only $5.00 buck I was thinking about picking it up. I ordered from Amazon through a Gold Box deal for the LE so I didn't pre-order in store. Even just the SKU # would help because I could find it that way hopefully.

Thanks!

Just got the game, I am a spacer, war hero, vanguard. What does it mean when I pick up something it says, reduce to omni-get or take all, what does reduce to omni-get mean ?

40 hours of play and I still haven't finished this game -_- Got my Completionist achievement, however. I also just need my Pistol achievement then I will have all the weapon achievements unlocked for my new character (which will probably be an Adept).

Wow. How in the hell did you manage to extend the game to 40 hours? :p
Wow. How in the hell did you manage to extend the game to 40 hours? :p
I was at about 31 when I beat it. If I actually explored all the planets I could easily see it getting to 40.

I was also around 30 when I beat it. I would of explored more, but when I was at the end of the game I didn't actually know it was the end.

I tried to explore all the UCWs as much as possible for the collection quests. Other than that I'm rather surprised at how long my length of play was (I think it took me 7 hours to first get off the Citadel).
I also got 2 sidequests (Geth bases and crime lords) and getting to the Conduit left before I finish

As for the monkey mission
It's the one where you to retrieve a Lost Module in the Hercules System of the Attican Beta Cluster. I got the Journal entry when I first (?) entered the Hercules system.

Hey guys, I'm still on my first run through,

How do I land on uncharted worlds? Can I only land on them if they have a port or something? I see all the worlds that I look at on the map view, and the only ones that have the landing option are the 3 that they told me to go to.
I scanned some of the other planets and it just gives me some read out thing. Do I have to scan a world and then have it say land? Or is there something I am missing? I landed on the planet that the scientist was on, grabbed her now I am on the planet with the snow. Do I have to finish with these 3 planets that they told me to go to before I can land on the others?

Unfortunetly there is generally, on average, one planet per system you can land on. The rest are just scan fodder for the collectable mineral side quests.

Alright, finally finished this shit, heres some thoughts

I banged the white bitch, I think you can't bang both of them so you have to choose between the blue lady and the white lady. Whenever I was talking to the blue lady I dissed her so she wouldn't keep coming on to me and I kept hitting on the white chick, but I didn't get to bang her till the end. I don't know why I put so much effort into it tho, all you get is some 20 second scene and like half a butt cheek. In Mass Effect 2 they need to make it so if you're a renegade you can try to rape people instead of seducing them, to speed up the process.

I let the Russian guy die, it was either him or the chick I'd spent ten hours tryna fuck. He was worthless anyway, the only people I rolled with were the white girl and the Battletoad guy. The rest of my crew was kinda queer...the girl with the mask and the arabic accent and the $$$$$$ sniper with the half goggle thing, I wish I could have had them die too.

Whenever the part came where the battletoad dude was spose to die, I played it out a couple times where I killed him, and then the white girl killed him, and then I talked him out of it and he lived...I think I got an achievement for the latter.

I was an Infiltrator so I had pistol and snipes, but in the end I was so powerful that I didn't waste time sniping and just ran into the middle with my pistols blazing. My dumbass teammates would die alot, so they were basically just meat cushions to take some of the bullets.

I did like 3 or 4 of the side missions on other planets but they got repetitive quick, and the building on each of the planets was like the exact same on the inside. So I just concentrated on beating the main mission after that.

I was renegade mostly the whole way, enough to get the achievement at least. I was only nice to the white girl and the black girl on that ice planet cuz at the time, I thought I might be able to bang her too.

Elevators in this game...WTF

For some reason I thought that fag who was asking for my autograph near the beggining was gonna come back and be a bad guy at the end. I signed it and for some reason I was thinking he was gonna take my signature and forge some documents with it and get me in trouble, I'm not sure why.
do you get anything special for completing the collection quests (gases, metals, etc?)
Besides experience and money, it also helps with the Completionist achievement as well as the Ally achievements. Other than that, no, not really.
do you get anything special for completing the collection quests (gases, metals, etc?)
Individually, no. I still got the Turian and Medallion/ID ones to finish, so I'll post results then. But I doubt anything fancy will happen.

So what party members do you guys roll with? I'm still looking for that gotta have guy in my group (Like HK-47, loved it when he called me meatbag..)

I was going with Williams and Garrus, but Garrus keeps dying so easy. I tell them to take cover, I take a few shots, turn around and he is down for the count... I switched to Williams and Wrex because I seem to not have to babysit them as much, but I am thinking of using one of the weaker characters with more bio attacks. I keep trying different combos, I'll find two I like sooner or later

Depends how I'm playing. I used Liara and Tali to back up my shotgun wielding vanguard, but if I were playing as an adept I'd probably use Ashley and Garrus for example.
So what party members do you guys roll with?
I've been using Wrex and Tali every since they joined up. We pretty much dominate now, with me and Wrex using weapons with High Explosive rounds (Pistol or Sniper for me, Shotgun for Wrex) and Tali using Snowblind rounds to cripple their accuracy (using pistol).

On my next playthrough I'll be choosing Sentinel or Adept class, so I'll be using Ash (shotgun) and Garrus (sniper).

Ya I use garrus and wrex
Garrus did suck when I first started using him, but I upgraded him with some sweet armor and he started surviving longer the Wrex.

Gotta have because they make the game easier or gotta have because they are funny?

Unfortunately there is no real "got to have" character this time around. There is some humorous dialogue but nothing on the level of KotOR (unfortunately). The closest you get in this game are Garrus and Wrex.

I am more looking for "gotta have" him/her there for humor. I figure Wrex could fit that bill. I like it when
He blew Fist away, and was like, "They hired me to kill him, so I killed him." That was pretty good. He reminds me alot of Canderous

Wrex probably fits that bill the best then. Not anywhere near HK47 humor, but he does throw in a smart ass remark every now and then.

Wrex is by far the most likeable character IMHO. He's the loner that dosn't give a shit and will tell you.

For some reason garrus reminds me of Dwight from The Office.

...And then add in something about some species testicles to go along with that "I don't give a shit" story.

I'm playing through Noveria right now and Wrex made me chuckle when he said (along the lines of) "if they're not taking care of your people, you should eat them" (speaking to the turncoat at the hotel bar).
...And then add in something about some species testicles to go along with that "I don't give a shit" story.
I've heard Wrex rant about Turian left nuts. He's quite the charmer...

Can't remember who it was, but Wrex called one of the NPCs I was talking to a bitch. That gave me an adolescent chucke for a moment.

I actually find Garrus to be the funniest. Mainly because his comments are so dry, they end up being funny. He's so unamused by everything. Like when he was talking about krogan testicles.

fucking Bullshit Motherfucker!

I am going to go cry in a corner now...and then proceed to smash my head into a wall until all thats left is powdered drywall and brain pulp.

Why.....?!?!?!?!?!

I was playing right...and then I thought hey I am going to go take a shower. So I proceed to save the game. Funny thing is my saves arent there. Ok so what. So I try to make a new save. The game tells me that I can't save while not signed in.

Now things are getting strange. Why am I not signed in I asked myself. This seemed like an easy problem to fix. I press the xbox button and then sign in my gamertag.

Then the game gives me a nasty message. It tells me that it will now restart Mass Effect. The only thing it will let me do is press A. I tried to save the game. But I couldn't. I eventually accepted my fate that I had to restart the game and load from where it last autosaved.

I never trusted the autosave feature but it must of autosaved recently and it couldn't of signed out of my profile too far back.

I eventually enter the load menu. There it is. Feros........................

That can't be right that must of been at least 2 hours ago.........

just be glad you're not entirely back to square one...

Looks like Krogan Battlemaster armor, I don't have the full X, I picked up a IX. I can put those stats up in a little bit.

Currently using Colossus X on my battletoad as it's moderately better.
