Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts

TO the person asking about the mysterious intimidate points, you automatically get SOME charm and intimidate points just for accumulating a certain % of renegade and paragon points.

That confused me too, i was thinking " WTF!?? I don't remember putting those there, I wanna be paragon why woudl I invest in intimidate??" But Eventually I found out you get em automatically.
Oh yeah, thanks - I'm way beyond that now. I thought you meant it was in the Wrex-specific character mission (getting his armor back). At the time I wasn't aware of the one of which you speak but that one is hard to miss and the achievement is cake if you are going for Paragon points and have Charm leveled up (or, I guess as you said, same for Renegade).
There's another place you can get that achievement.

If you have full charm or intimidate you can convince Saren to kill himself before your final battle against him.

Wow apparently I wasn't a friend of Wrex enough because I never had an option to take that mission, yet still got competitionist.... maybe on my next playthrough.

YOu had to speak with Wrex on the Normandy a few times to get the mission: "Wrex's Family Armor."

I got to level 56 (damn near 57) in one playthrough as a biotic. I did EVERYTHING.

Thats two full playthroughs as of right now. I'll probably take a long break and play as a soldier on insane (If i ever do play it again.).

Did anybody get all the weapon acheivments (besides pistol) in one playthrough?? (SHotgun, AR, and SNiper)?

Yeah I did, I received AR, shotgun and sniper then I restarted my game and within four shots on Eden Prime got my pistol achievement.

Well it's at least nice to know it can be done. I still need neural shock too, can you get this a soldier?
If you look hard enough, you can see where the DLC will come I think. For example, the hotel on Noveria you can't enter. I could see them adding 4 side quests and a new area within the hotel to explore. Same goes for those weird level design choices like the 20 feet of empty space to the left of the citadel fan. WTF would you leave that there unless you had something planned to place there for DLC.
I read that DLC will be for putting content into the inaccessible planets, though I'm not sure if it will be exclusively that. I was somewhat disappointed that there was only about 2 towns. I was waiting all game to find the next one, but really it's only the Citadel and Noveria.

I'm really looking forward to the sequel, I already can't wait. The first game was great, but there are so many things they can improve upon.

I've said it before (I believe in this thread), I don't want more of the same planets to explore. I've already climbed over all the mountains I could ever want in my MAKO, and explored dozens of crashed probes and anomalies. They better be substantiative new planets, or no dice for me.

I totally agree with you. Unless they're going to put a city on one of the planets or something, more climbing over mountains with that damned mako is the least appealing thing ever.

If the DLC isn't anything more than driving around looking for more Thresher Maw's then I can be counted out. If it's something as intricate as Feros/Noveria/Virmire then I'll be all over it.

ooo that explains it then, figured out all my questions now. I was mean to the harkin guy so thats probably why.

That liara fight was pretty tough with my engineer though. I tried probably 4 times and ashley kept getting owned in a second. I ended up just sprinting as far away from the battle and slowly picked them off...it was probably a 10-15minute fight in the end lol

Yeah the brawl with Benezia can be tough if you go to Noveria early. Try doing Artemis Tau and Feros first. It makes it much more managable.

I've been playing Endless Ocean now, quite the change up from Mass Effect eh? Anyway I really doubt I'll go for a third playthrough for ME. I've gotten EVERY achivement that can be had in two playthroughs but don't want to put another 30 -50 hours in to get the remaining ones. I really like Endless Ocean b/c it is sooo different.

Once you have a strategy for Noveria, it's easy. I thought Feros was hard as shit, even though it only took me one try.
I was down to minimal health for myself (heartbeat) and Kayden with no grenades or Medi-paks available, with three levels to go. Somehow, I pulled it off.
Did anybody get all the weapon acheivments (besides pistol) in one playthrough?? (SHotgun, AR, and SNiper)?
Yep, though it was frustrating at times. I've only played through once (as an Infiltrator), and I made sure to use the AR and Shotgun enough to get the achievements. I think it would be much harder without the sniper skill available for zooming.

I beat Artemis recently, then I went back to do the citadel sidequests that were available before leaving the Citadel. I noticed now that the one person in the med center I helped with Garrus at the beginning of the game no longer talks about giving me a sidequest (unlike right after I saved her...I talked to her but didn't take the quest/restarted my game.)

So are some quests only doable at a certain point?

I've always hated the last fight when you're rescuing Liara

As an infilitrator, I only can use a pistol and a sniper rifle well, and the Krogan Battlemaster always rushes my two teammates (Killing them near-instantly), then smacks me across the room.

I've resorted to hiding behind cover and sniping him while he's killing a teammate, but I wish there was a better way to fight him.

lol ya that happened to me 3 times as an engineer. To survive I just put on the barrier moves on my two guys and sent them in as bait, then I used that fast pistol tech thing, and as many tech skills/biotic stuff from teammates as I could.

I'm thinking o fbacktracking though if I can't do those sidequests anymore. An answer to that question would be superrrb

I had a rough time with that fight as an infiltrator as well. The worst part is the fact that they put the save point before the fight BEFORE the stupid cut scene. Oh great... I just died for the 7th time and I have to watch the cut scene AGAIN.

I always had a much tougher time on artemis tau with the fight outside right before you enter the chamber where Liara is being held. I think it was teh first Geth Armature you encounter and with such a shitty level it was tougher than the krogan IMO.

The simple answer to the ? about whether some sidequests are only available at certain points is YES, some are only available at certain time and others are only available if you're renegade, earhtborn, etc.. For the most part through, once you get your ship unlocked you can go all around the galaxy and bang out those sidequests.

Keep in mind that completing some sidequests opens others up too.

DLC has been announced...
To date, over 1.6 million gamers have explored the engaging sci-fi universe of Mass Effect. Beginning on March 10, fans everywhere will be able to expand the “Mass Effect” experience with the release of the first ever downloadable content for the award-winning saga.

The Bring Down the Sky downloadable content pack will be released to Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Monday, March 10 at 2 a.m. PST, and will be available for 400 MS points. This is the first in a series of planned downloadable content that further expands the Mass Effect universe and continues the adventures of Commander Shepard and the Normandy crew.

Bring Down the Sky includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent.

Bring Down the Sky contains approximately 90 minutes of heart-pounding action and a new Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points.
Sounds like it could be decent. Or it could just be drive Mako to the same base we've been in 50 times on this new astroid and kill some new type of aliens to stop the threat.

Interesting.

I wonder how complex this mission will be. As people have stated earlier, if it's just another planet or two to MAKO around on, with the same few interiors, I'm gonna have to pass.

I am curious about the Batarians, though. That might be exciting. I would say I'm 'cautiously optimistic.'

Damn...got this game at launch and still haven't opened it...and there's DLC coming soon for it too...I really got to start it soon...though it scares me because I know I'll be losing hours of sleep playing this, hence why its still sealed.

I mispell "the" all the time. I get all excited, type fast and type "teh" instead, it pisses me off.

As to the DLC, meh...looks Okay. How much does 400 points cost?

$5

You know Rolento, this is the second time I have ever told you this:

The correct spelling of "comming" is "coming."

EDIT: I thought that this game was supposed to be so diverse and varied that DLC would never be needed. Is it adding a game mode?
My question is how is the DLC going to affect the completionist and more importantly, the Ally achievements.
Precisely my concern - at least the ally part since I'm on my second playthrough (and got completionist the first time). Does it add more quests that make them easier, or does it make them harder by requiring you complete a higher number of quests (keeping the same percentage or whatever)?

But I'm sure I'll end up buying this anyway... I'm just wondering if I should hold off on completing my current (2nd) playthrough and plug this in first.

Ya, if it makes them more difficult I'll probably just hold off until I get all the Ally achievements first.

Awesome news. Looks like my Mass Effect gamerscore will be 1050 points very soon. As for the bitching about the ally achivements, it's a pain in the ass whether you dowload the DLC or not. Besides, why would you avoid something you paid $5.00 extra bucks for anyway?

This will be a good reason for me to pick up this game again. I've been looking for an excuse get a few more achievements in this game after having beaten it once.

Is the max gamerscore after achievements 1200 or 1250? Does anyone else think there will be 4 or 5 total packs with 50 nerdpoints per pack?

Yeah, Hitman, I think it'll be, at the most, 5 new missions with, like you said, about 50 GP each. With the sequel(s) coming out, I'm sure they'll hold a few things back!

But I'm excited as helllllllll

Up to 1250 with DLC. Most games shove it all out at once (like Shivering Isles was 250 for Oblivion, the Heroes & Villians pack was 250 for Marvel:UA), This may be the first game to do like 50 point increments with DLC, not sure though.
