Teppoman 2 aka The Slightest Man 2

Shooter/Platformer
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No

Theme: Fantasy

Teppoman 2 is a 2D action platformer that puts you in control of a caped assassin with a craving for bananas, specifically the brown-coloured ones which can only be found inside a heavily-fortified base under the command of a white-hooded man.

Our trained killer has a number of specialized skills that could be used to navigate around traps and silence unsuspecting enemies, plus he can also utilize all manner of ranged weapons when the situation calls for it. Players have to learn how to execute dash, wall jumps, reverse jumps, glide, body surf, and more if they plan to make it further into the enemy's fortress.

There is a boss battle in every fifth stage, and you're only allowed to continue playing after beating the boss challenge if you manage to meet the banana collection requirements. For example, to pass the fifth level you would need to have five bananas in your possession, and playing level eleven and onwards require a minimum of fifteen bananas.

Theme: Espionage

Subsonic is a 2D stealth game in which you play as a test subject for Subsonic Inc., an organization that deals with the research of high-tech equipment and top secret technology. Each level is populated by guards who will attempt to apprehend you on sight, although they tend to give up the chase easily when you quickly find cover behind a wall or crawl into an air duct for safety.

In most rooms you will be presented with a selection of guns to pick up. The blue gun emits soundwaves that can distract guards, while the red ones are useful for shattering glass. The white-coloured gun can mask the sound from your footsteps, so that players are able to sneak past an unsuspecting guard looking the other way for intruders. The game is divided two parts, a tutorial and a campaign, although there are only six levels to play in the campaign mode

Jigsaw

Shooter/Platformer
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No
Netbook Friendly

Theme: Fantasy

Jigsaw is a puzzle platformer made for Arthur Lee's Action 52 cart-themed game development jam, featuring two worlds to explore and a healthy number of checkpoints that automatically saves your progress up to that point. The playable character in this remake has a gun that fires nails, which is mainly used for defeating the enemies he encounters and building small steps for him to scale walls with.

It is important to note that only a maximum of three nails can be had on the screen as steps, so if a fourth nail is impaled on a wall then the first nail will disappear as well. This leads to some interesting switch puzzles later, since a switch will only be on when a nail is still stuck to it.

This game was largely inspired by Nintendo's 'Nail n Scales' on the original Gameboy.

Theme: Warfare

Durg Blambler is a prototypical topless machinegun dude and he must shoot lots of guys. A pretty simple 8-direction shooter. You have 3 weapons: machine gun, scatter gun, and flamethrower. These can be upgraded to shoot faster twice by finding powerups. There are also 2 vehicles, a tank and a jeep, you can find in some levels. You can play through the campaign missions in which you must destroy the enemy headquarters of each level; or you can play the survival mode to see how long you can last with enemies spawning everywhere around.

Megazell's Comment - Standard top down shooter. The bullets of the enemy and yourself look the same in the beginning which can be very annoying.

Alpha - Zombie Grinder - Alpha

Shooter/Top Down
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - Yes

Theme: Horror

Zombie Grinder is the debut game of TwinDrills, an indie game development duo made up of Tim 'Infini' Leonard and Jordan 'Jordizzle' Chewning.

It's a multi-platform (windows, mac, Linux!) (also Free!) cooperative multiplayer arcade game, reminiscent in style and gameplay of retro games like 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors' and 'Super Smash TV!', but with the added benefit of some newer game mechanics - achievements, ranking, player-customization, rpg style stats and so forth.

The game sports a variety of different game modes, from co-operative 'campaign' style levels, to wave maps and even the classic 'pvp' style game modes - deathmatch, capture the 'bag' and so forth. All of these mods are bristling with a variety of weapons and items, all lovingly displayed in Jordan's classic quirky pixel-art style.

Go kick some 8-bit zombie butt.

When there was no more room in hell once again, Carlo, the devil's servant, sent most of hell's population back to earth. The dead stepped out of their graves to spread horror and chaos. Now it's your turn to clean the graveyard from those strange happenings going on there and to take the final step - defeating Carlo!

"Gloomy Nights and Living Dead" is an oldschool arcade action game that will remind you of the good old days. If you were a zombie hunter back then, it will have an even stronger effect of nostalgia on you.

Megazell's Comment - An excellent 2 player old school top down shooter. I have a blast with this game every time I boot it up with company. The music is catchy, the sprites are cute and reminiscent of the old Nintendo/Sega Master System days of gaming and the difficulty and boss battles are quite challenging.

I have about 33 games ready to post - 4 of which were MMOs - nothing like 'CrimeCraft.'

There are a few in Korea but they have zero English. I am currently in the beta for a English version of a Fighting MMO called 'Fight Zone.' I have yet to actually play it but it has a solid urban style to it from the videos I've been watching.

I'll probably have a lot more time after the 11th to post up some more games. I'm always on the lookout for games like 'Crimecraft.'

Sweet Sweet. I loved Star Wars Galaxies a lot. Shame APB isn't free to play monthly otherwise I would get into it you know? Can't wait for some more games from your list!

So AVA is awesome, but I hate how the EVA Bug is. I know so far I have had it happen two times where she goes towards the door and it won't open. Besides that....Awesome game.

Yeah, I ran across that one. My cousins and I got her to open it though by following what one poster wrote on the forums...

that's because u must get there before eva does and open the door yourself..if u wait too long the arrow will go away and u get stuck...its sort of like an invisible timer...and if the door is open for a long time this will close as well...so make sure that u open it in time...

http://forums.ijji.com/showthread.php?p=10978586

Which makes sense - story wise - but they should make it more transparent.

AVA and Quake Live are incredibly fun to play with some friends.

Can't wait to post some more games but this vacation has been stellar so far so it can wait. :)

Enjoy,
Megazell

Sqrxz

Action/Platformer
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No

Theme: Fantasy

While Sqrxz wandered around on a sunny day, he was unaware that he had lost all his items while enjoying the scenery. It was already dark until he recognized the loss. There was no possibilty, but to go back where he started the trip and save his things. If the loss was not already enough, strange creatures appeared. Will they be helpful?

What is Sqrxz?

Sqrxz requires fast reflexes and is a simply mindblasting Jump’n'Run puzzle game with high frustration factor originally made in 1996 by Marcus Vesterlund (Maze) and John Holmvall (Hojo) for DOS and Windows 9x.

Sqrxz (2010) is a remake of a game with the same name and has been created by Rodolphe Boixel (Thor), Shahzad Sahaib (Kojote), Simon Butler and Brendan Ratliff (Syphus). Minor support came from Marcus Vesterlund himself who also gave permission to redo his game. Denny Müller (Mulle) supported the team with a WordPress-Theme for the official page and Rabia Sahaib (Mahek) made three more levels.

A remake should be usually bearing improvements, so does Sqrxz 2010. Beside the “classic” graphic mode, there is a new mode with “deluxe” graphics. The main gameplay has modified in a way that you need to collect all items to open the door at the end of each level, which makes some levels harder than they actually already were. Extended “fun” is guarantueed with additional three levels, unseen before. Each level does have it’s own chiptune and adds up to the retro feeling. A Top 10 highscore table will hold all your records. For the ones who like hidden features, there is even a small easter egg!

Sqrxz uses code of the following Open-Source projects in an unmodified form: SDL, SDL_Mixer, libmodplug and zlib - you can get the source code of the mentioned libraries by visiting the respective homepage.

Features:

* Hardly any game will annoy you more! Frustration deluxe ahead!
* Amiga’ish feeling!
* 16 Levels including a “beginners” level
* 18 Chiptunes
* Classic AND new graphic mode
* Top 10 highscore
* Endless continue mode
* Hidden easter egg

A Second Face

Adventure
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No

Theme: Drama

Although A Second Face may look like a common adventure game from the beginning it distinguishes from other games through its parabolic content. I generated a story, that contains all important aspects of life and brings them together to a higher meaning with a rather anthropological viewpoint.

Life is a question of polarity. During our passing through Earth we are imprisioned between night and daylight, death and life, hatred and love, war and peace, men and women...

But what is the inbetween of all things?
The final conclusion about life?
The so-called sense...

A Second Face tries to bring an answer for the inbetween of all things and the deeper meaning of our life. Maybe this will turn out your inner second face...

Theme: Science Fiction

WG Realms 2: Siege Breaker is an action packed total conversion of Duke Nukem 3D, by William Gee, Dan Gaskill, and Cage.

You don't need Duke 3D for this; just download and play!

WGR2 is the sequel to William Gee's masterpiece, WG Realms. The first episode has three huge levels with some of WG's best work to date, including a variety of breathtaking environments with emphasis on nature and medieval themes, enhanced with new special effects.

You play as Duke Nukem, who has been transported to a fantasy realm where a Human Kingdom is under siege by hordes of monsters (some of which will be familiar from games such as Doom and Hexen). With a brand new suite of kickass weapons, inventory and abilities, Duke undertakes to break the siege so that he can return home to his own world. A total of 3 episodes are planned.

Megazell's Comment - The name of the icon that activates the game is WGR2.bat. The original game will alert you about an update to the engine. Do so at your leisure. This game is old school FPS fun at it's best. You can dl plenty of maps to play with and mods. If you never had the chance to play the old school FPS or if you just like that old school feel...try this gem!

http://www.giantbomb.com/news/nexuiz-to-run-on-cryengine-3/2302/

Here's hoping for a PC port...[/QUOTE]

Interesting article, nonetheless. I wish them luck.

I still have one server devoted to Nexuiz but I plan to take it down soon to run a server for OpenArena.

Most of my family and friends left Nexuiz and are playing Quake Live but I am trying to convince them to give OpenArena a shot so that we can just play with our group.

Quake Live is awesome but until we get the ability to host we have to play on public servers. I heard they will charge for those that want to host private games...so that is another reason I want to start migrating to something we can control. On top of this we have nieces and nephews of age and they have their own rigs so it's better we police our own servers and such. I already got a version of OpenArena with kid friendly models and such so let's see.

I had A LOT of fun on Nexuiz.

Millenipede

Shooter/Arena
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No
Netbook Friendly
Gamepad Support - Yes

Theme: Science Fiction

Millenipede is a fast-paced arcade shoot'em up originally developed in less than seven days for the 94th 'Wednesday Workshop' at SoCoder and is inspired by the Atari classics Centipede and Millipede. I really never thought the game would come this far, but it's grown into quite a beast and developed a life of its own - nothing groundbreaking, but curiously good fun!

Features

Nostalgia-filled shoot'em up arcade gameplay
Keyboard, mouse and joypad control
Online highscores
Deadly powerups
Statistics tracking
Awesomely 8-bit sound effects
Catchy chip music from Okeanos, smirk, cyborgjeff and others
Marvellously average particle effects
Flying saucers with added glowy bits
Mushrooms - lots of mushrooms!

System Requirements

OS: Windows 98 SE or higher, Mac version available
CPU: 400 Mhz
Memory: 32 Mb
Video: 32 Mb

Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries

Real-Time Strategy
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - Yes

Theme: Military

Seven Kingdoms made departures from the traditional real-time strategy models of "gather resources, build a base and army, and attack". The economic model bears more resemblance to a turn-based strategy game. It features an espionage system that allows players to train and control spies individually, who each have a spying skill that increases over time. The player is also responsible for catching spies in their own kingdom. Inns built within the game allow players to hire mercenaries of various occupations, skill levels, and races. Skilled spies of enemy races are essential to a well-conducted espionage program, and the player can bolster his forces by grabbing a skilled fighter or give ones own factories, mines, and towers of science, a boost by hiring a skilled professional.

Enlight Software decided to release the game to the Open Source community in August 2009. At that time everything, but the music, was released under the GPL v2. The music has a slightly different license.

System Requirements

OS: Windows XP or higher
CPU: 1.8 Ghz
Memory: 1 Gb
Video: 512 Mb
Hard Drive: 56.65 Mb
