Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsubsistance Limited Edition no more?

DN

CAGiversary!
Gamestop and Ebgames listed this on their websites but no longer have them. What's the deal? Anyone know?

According to comments on ebgames, you weren't even guaranteed the MGS Saga DVD for preordering it, so yeah, it's long gone.

what does the metal gear saga dvd have to do with anything? saga was for regular edition or LE.

The LE has been taken down for weeks

I realy hope that i can find the saga DVD online or somthing, no store is letting me pre order now and i just found out about the damn thing.

I pre ordered my LE a week ago and they didnt give me any trouble. (of course taking 40 bucks for doin nothing shouldnt be a problem) I also got the saga DVD which is sweet by the way. I just hope I dont go in there tomorrow and they try and pawn off a regular edition on me. Gonna raise some hell if they charged the extra 10 bucks and gave me the regular edition.

Really? I thought it was the Saga DVD that made the package LE.

LE has been taken off because preorders were no longer being taken for it. So I guess it really was 'Limited'. Saga, on the other hand, if you preordered Subsistence or LE, you should still get it.

little late to the party? ;)

Yeah, I was just a couple days late to the party. My plan is to see if any GS or EBs have any LEs in my area tomorrow. But, I'm probably out of luck.

Good luck to me!

Supposedly someone mentioned in another thread that there is 2 seperate lsitings in BestBuy's computer for Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (1 for a regular and 1 for a LE?).

All over eBay now. People that work at some of these places probably grabbed a bunch and are now eBaying them.

I asked today, the guy told me there was only one listing for the $29.99 version... he didn't really try too hard though, he just looked at one SKU and went "Yep only $29.99".

Oh, well then...

Indeed, i always buy the Subsistance versions of these games and i totaly forgot that there might be an LE

Oh god the price gouging must be horrible, thanks for the heads up.
Wow, a LE of a game that is actually limited?!?
Its been known to happen on occassion. Unreal Tournament 2004 collector's edition sold out almost instantly. Not quite to the same degree but it is kind of dificult to find an RE4 PS2 CE anymore.

If konami only ships out enough for online orders and preorders, there is a chance this could be the rarest game in gaming history.

But UT 2004 still showed up at retail stores, along with RE4 PS2 CE... you could just walk into Best Buy / Circuit City and just buy them.

From the way it sounds, MGS 3 LE won't even hit a retail floor.

that rare?

I haven't been paying attention to this stuff either, so could someone answer this man's question? THERE ARE THOSE OF US THAT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.

IIRC UT 2004 was only available at EB and Gamestop, and even then each store only got enough in for preorders plus 1-2 extra. That's what I'm imagining a worst case scenario for this game is.

We'll know for sure by tomorrow how rare the LE is though.

nope, saga can be obtained by preordering either version....PREORDERING is key word...

LE has existence disc which is like combining all the cutscenes into a 3 hour movie...plus some different packaging

whole thread with FAQ in here...

this was to prevent these questions to be asked, but i guess it was too hard for some to find..

Yes, the LE has the DVD, and that is what makes the LE. But you could have also gotten the DVD by preordering.
It also looks to be a different cover.

Here is a picture of the LE cover

Here is a picture of the regular cover

Of course, I have no idea if this is the case as I haven't actually seen either cover yet, most GS EB employees that I've asked have no idea if they are getting any LEs, and some have denied that it even exists.

If each just got in 1 - 2 extra for MGS 3 LE, that would be fine enough for me, but the way that EB / GS are acting makes me think they won't even have enough for preorders.

I preordered the game a week ago to get the Saga DVD.

At the time I thought the 3rd disc was part of first run copies. I didn't know about there being a limited edition sku.

The guy at the store said nothing about there being two versions so now I'm worried I won't get the limited.

Oh well. I guess I'll find out the next couple of days

Right, that'd mean there would only be only around 250,000 copies of the LE version shipped

The LE isn't even available on Konami's own website...

Konami and EB / GS blew this one big time, because now everyone wants the LE and it was pulled a damn month before the thing went on sale.

I just preordered at Software, Etc. (GameStop) yesterday and got the Metal Gear Saga: Vol. 1 DVD. When I called it sounded as if they had plenty left (and I believe it was still being offered on gamestop.com yesterday morning). Getting the LE was not an option, however. Oh well.

I reserved a copy of MGS3: Subsistence LE about a month ago, I didn't get an MGS Saga DVD then cause they weren't available. But they better have one tommorow when I go pick up my copy... otherwise, heads will roll...

i spoke to a guy today from eb who said the way their systems are starting to work is that if you don't preorder a limited edition of a game then they won't get any copies and it will just be sold on the website.

THATS not even true, i remember almost getting kicked out of GS when they told me that my preorder was changed to the standard edition

That really sucks. Are you sure?
As long as i get to see the videos some how i wont care about the LE, they should atleast release them over the net...
Let's all be lucky that the only difference in the LE is just a movie, and not something really awesome... Imagine if the old school MGS 1 and 2 games were only on the LE, I would be pissed
As long as i get to see the videos some how i wont care about the LE, they should atleast release them over the net...
Someone on here posted a BitTorrent link of a site that put all the movies and radio sequences of the game together in three or four movie files. I don't think this kind of thing is illegal to download, there's no actual gameplay, however I think the LE is supposed to have some type of narration with the movie as well and maybe recuts of scenes.

My guess is that they will eventually release more LE's or that the major chain stores will also get them. It would make sense for Konami to release a version that is $10 more with just an additional movie disk that is likely cheap for them to produce anyway.

games that got limited first shippment such as Rivera and Spikeout: Battle Street went for almost double their MSRP on ebay shortly after release.

Just checked my order status at Gamestop to see if my LE shipped. I preordered 2 months in advance and it says that its backordered!?!?!?!?! I'm pissed. Did anyone else get theres shipped?

This is one time I'm happy I went with a retail store for preordering. If Gamecrazy doesn't get the LE and the Saga disc for me tomorrow... well, they do have a magazine rack.

No one has mentioned the WoW LE, and how fast that thing sold out. Even EB jacked up the price a month or so later when they got a few back instock online. You know it's bad when a retail site is raising the price above retail.

And one of my local EB's still has the LE of the PS2 RE4 for sale, new, so I don't think it's THAT hard to find. I've seen it a lot more than I've seen the GC version, anyway.
Not to nitpick, but I believe the PS2 RE4:CE was only available at EB/GS. If I had a choice, I would have pick this game up at CC and not GS.
THATS not even true, i remember almost getting kicked out of GS when they told me that my preorder was changed to the standard edition
If you're talking about UT 2004, then its most definetly true because I was in a Gamestop the day UT came out and I managed to get the LE without preordering. It was the last copy but I at least got one.

Members on the board reported seeing it at Circuit City when it was released.

I really hope GS / EB gets in 1 or 2 extras. I know I'll be calling every store in a 30 mile radius tommorrow.

My thoughts exactly...

what the hell I preordered the limited edition just about as soon as they listed it on gamestops site and I check today and see that it's backordered. Man I'm pissed. First GS doesn't send me my shadow hearts game and now this.

Could someone explain the RE4 CE PS2 thing? I just got into (PS2) gaming lately and have no clue about the CE version. What's extra in the CE and is it worth hunting down?
