That sounds like a review.
Ya, I know I was just going on a mindless rant.
I was sort of going around on what I was really getting at. Reviews can just fluster-f me sometimes. It's insane to me that these random dudes("journalists") can effect the final score and possess so much power over a given title.
It's like any moron can go and post: "I dun like teh game cuz snake doesnst have cool panztz on!!! 2/10" and put between all the high profile game reviewers and have a part in a games final review score.
Not to say smaller more casual reviews should not have a say in if a game is good or not, I just don't think they should be given as much of an impact if their site is such low profile. I think of it this way; review scores are getting way to out of hand, it seems like there are way to many reviewers and it seems like they are all trying to get the lowest review possible (without causing to much controversy) to bring more traffic. Cause if you think about it, most people will go visit a site, if it's review is surprisingly low or not with the other critics opinions (which is fine...) This frightens me, I find it kind of scary that some of these reviewers have this unruliness power when reviewing games, and can simply put a bad score to further benefit their site/magazine.
*cough*egm 4/10 AC review*cough*
It's like when friends dramatize something in order to get a rise out of their peers. Such as stating that a movie like the Lord of the Rings, is "The worst thing ever!" When clearly it isn't the worst thing ever. It may not be in your same taste range but just stepping up to say it's the "worst thing ever" is just a mindless tangent in order to get some attention.
Maybe it would be way to much to ask for, but wouldn't it be grand to see a site like Gamerankings divide their scores into different categories? Like, here is the review for people that LOVE MGS: ___ and here is the score for the casual gamer: ____.
I think critics are trying to hard to be similar to movie critics and I don't think games can be rated like movies.
