Metroid Prime 3 - Do Mother Brains' Have PMS? - 9.5 From IGN!
Hell yeah, I got that shit too, man did it make running around pointlessly less necessary. I've still spent 13 and a half hours so far and I've collected everything on those 3 planets, but have 27 pickups left.

It also dled data for
Tallon IV and Aether
but I dunno wtf that added to the logbook. The whole thing isn't really necessary though after getting
x-ray visor
and since I scan like crazy, but it made it take a lot less time since I could see about where I needed to be looking.

And as for motion sickness, I have pretty weird motion sickness (I can't read or play video games while riding in a car or I'll get queasy), but I've never had a problem with any video game at home.
I beat it at 93% last night, and I know I still had 2-3 upgrades left in two of the planets, and probably 1-2 on the other planet(s). I'll go back sometime this weekend, pick them up, and see if there are any extra bonuses for 100% completion.

And those other two planet downloads are for kicks. They let you know how those two planets were doing after you saved them in the earlier games. Read the Aether log, it's kinda interesting.

Has anyone chose to save after beating it? I want to know if the tokens carry over to your new save file, kinda like a newgame+ idea.
Just read that now Metroid Prime 3 is out Retro Studios will take a break from Metroid and develop something new for the Wii.
I hope they put just as much attention to detail in their new IP. Retro's a fucking great studio. :)

Okay, so I'm at the beginning of the game... still on the ship. I just spoke to the captain. Basically, this game is perfect so far. The artistic style, the music... I know this is going to be something special. I r excited.

Scans and tokens carry over into your next game. I beat it on veteran with 83% completion, but just didn't feel like finding the missing items.

Of course I just read about the hologram, which would have made the game even easier. Was trying out the hyper mode difficulty and noticed that nothing in the GFS Olympus needed to be scanned, so the second play through will be even more action oriented since I know the puzzles and there is no need to scan anything.

For anyone who has beaten the game what did you think about the
voice over during the end credits, it took me by surprise.
and for those who haven't beaten the game: stay through to the end of the credits.

BTW the 100% ending according to what I have read shows
a ship following Samus after she flies away from the GFS. Maybe a hint towards the start of Metroid: Dread
That's strange. Wonder what would cause that, especially if other fast paced games don't cause problems. Do you have any type of phobia that the game is triggering? Just an off the wall idea. If it continues then I would return it or trade it in quick while it still has value.
FPS games are the worst for motion sickness, and I'd imagine this one would even worse than most since it's so shaky when moving (if you're using advanced controls) unless you have super steady aim and can keep the cursor in the middle of the screen all the time.

Thankfully it doesn't bother me at all.

So I assume this game gets better once you get to Bryyo? Coz... well, I just landed there and haven't left the ship yet, but the part before it was kinda weak-ish.

Wait, what? Didn't you just say you liked it at the beginning? I r confused. You thought the boss fight on Norion was weak?
Wait, what? Didn't you just say you liked it at the beginning? I r confused. You thought the boss fight on Norion was weak?
I liked it at the very beginning. Norion was kinda boring. Yeah, the boss battle was legit, but I guess I was kinda annoyed by the whole "hey, there's a buncha other people getting involved in my fight. fuck off." thing. So yeah, I hope it gets better, because right now it's nowhere near as good as Metroid Prime 1. Actually, part of the way through that segment, I was tempted to shelve it and just go replay Metroid Prime 1.

Target just put my copy in my mailbox today... not sure if I should start it up this weekend or shelve it till I get around to the first two games like I originally planned. Might have to see if I'm at a good point in Skies of Arcadia to stop for an extended period of time.

WHAT!? The first 2 hours were awesome! Man, you must be missing something. Anyway, it gets better than the first 2 hours, to my surprise.

I beat it at 87%, and now I'm at 89%, going for 100%.

17 hours, 7 minutes.

I don't remember anybody involved with any bosses, at least not that fought them. What I was talking about was the final boss in Norion
Ridley
I know
Rundas comes and keeps you from smashing into the ground dead
but he didn't really do anything in the fight. It's not hard or anything, but it's pretty cool visually.

Naw, what I meant was that the boss fight was cool, but the parts before the boss fight where those other hunters are on the planet with you was kinda ghetto. Mainly because it felt too much like Halo (not a good thing.) I really hope there's some adventure aspects since that's what makes a Metroid game... well, Metroid.

Ah, well, you won't really have to worry about that :p

After that, it's definitely Metroid based. The first part is mainly a tutorial with cutscenes that makes it awesome. I give the game a 9.2. It surpassed my expectations.

Sure, as a tutorial, that segment is perfectly okay. The boss fight was awesome, especially since I'm a long time Metroid fan. I was just getting worried that the whole tutorial segment was the whole game since no Prime game has had that long of a tutorial. Phew.

Well, if you look a the commercials for it, you won't be shocked. Trying to bring casuals to the darkside of hardcore games is uncharted territory.

I honestly thought the sections before Bryyo were pretty awful, with a few exceptions. Once you make it to Bryyo though, the game becomes the amazing experience you expect from a Metroid title.

I'm not too far yet, around 5 hours in, but so far this game is much better than I was expecting, especially after the opening.

You have no idea how much I hate you. I'm an Ohioan and I didn't get it today, meaning Labor Day will be comepletely worthless. On a side not, I'll ad whoever added me tonight, and leave WC24 on to boot.

Although everyone's about the game starting from Bryyo, I was sold on that second boss battle... :hot: I slept 3 hours last night thanks to that. (Have to work this weekend )

I was worried about the rest of the game being like Norion too, but the beginning of Bryyo was back to good old Metroid :)

Samus and her fellow super spacemarine heroes saving planets in epic showdowns the whole game would've been a serious letdown. Like a bunch of Metroid endgames back to back to back

Ahh I give 10 for 10 on gfx, 10 for 10 on sound but 0 out of 10 for gameplay cause I feel sick playing it. I gave it 3 tries, and still felt sick all three times. Man... and I was really look foward to this game too cause I loved Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.
You know, it's weird, but this is the first game I've ever played in 20 years that makes me feel sick too. It's not like I haven't played the hell out of every major FPS back from Wolfenstein 3D, but this is the ONLY one gives me a major headache and a queasy stomach every time I play. I wonder if it's the weird slow spinning with the remote... Elebits didn't make me feel this way, so I dunno.
yes! i knew i couldn't have been the only one!
Mark me down for the crazy motion sickness as well. However, now I go everywhere in morphball mode and it's gotten better. :)
OMG Zen! I stop feeling sick when i switch to the morphball mode too.
First person shooters + 60 fps = dizziness for some people. My ex-girlfriend was like that. She could not stand to watch me play any first person shooters.
I think your right. I totally forgot I couldn't stand playing Halo either. And I hate playing Need For Speed with first person view.

so is the fact that I can't play first person games called motion sickness too or is it called something else?

Just beat the boss at Elysia and spent the last hour or so running around picking up expansions and
collecting fuel cells to take to the Valhalla.

My opinion stays the same since my last post. The controls are fucking phenomenal. I'm really really surprised by the game, since the way Retro was describing it before launch, I was expecting it to completely cater to n00b soccer moms. I'm sure they had plenty of pressure from Nintendo to do so, but they managed to keep just challanging enough. =] I really wish that turning hints off would completely prevent NPCs from saying, "Hey, why don't you go check this out?" And I also wish that voice acting could be turned off.

But despite that, the game has far exceeded my expectations. Chacrana, when you get to Bryyo, it's classic Metroid. Stick with it!
so is the fact that I can't play first person games called motion sickness too or is it called something else?
It's all just "motion sickness." Your body eyes see movement, but you don't feel any movement, you brain freaks out, tries to make you vomit up whatever's poisoning you. Same thing that happens to people who get carsick... if you look out the window, you can see you're moving, but you can't feel it.

We'll see if this makes me sick; I'm guessing it will since I can't play more than an hour of the original Prime at a time, but who knows.

Just started the game again on hyper mode and man does the hardest difficulty make it a pain for the first boss battle. My hand is feeling stiff after the amount of times I hammered down the A button. Feels like the game is a battle of attrition now. IE : How much can you take before you need a break?

Yea it means you've gone totally emo and you just can't feel anything anymore. Thats why you also cut your wrists while listening to Linkin Park ;)

Geez this game is good. I'm on the west side of Bryyo now. Only died once so far, but that's just because I didn't catch on to the scenario fast enough. #-o

It was where you need to switch off the two jamming signals so you can call your ship to come bomb the pirates for the first time. I spent quite a while killing wave after wave of flying pirates before I realized, too late, that I needed to be doing something else. Took care of it in 2 minutes after that. Oy.

Surprising to hear all the complaints about motion sickness from this one. I've been bothered by a lot of first person games, (and some 3rd person with crappy cameras) but never by the Prime series, including this latest one.
Yea it means you've gone totally emo and you just can't feel anything anymore. Thats why you also cut your wrists while listening to Linkin Park ;)
Or as I call it.

Pull an Owen Wilson.

Well, I could never get into the series. Not that I think it's bad, just couldn't get into it, you know? I've played the first one and bought the second when it was on sale for $6. Didn't touch it for years and ended up selling it when this came out. Had a opportunity to get this cheap so I got it.

So I played it today and I must say, this game is awesome! yay.
So I assume this game gets better once you get to Bryyo? Coz... well, I just landed there and haven't left the ship yet, but the part before it was kinda weak-ish.
Bryyo is where it felt different than an FPS for the first time. Actual puzzles to figure out, etc. I'm still there myself, and enjoying it greatly :)
Okay yah, the game is better now that it's not anything like Halo. I fought the first boss on Bryyo and it was frickin' cool.
I couldn't play Halo after the 4th or 5th level. That one level was just WAAAAAAAAAAY to repititive. It was sooooo boring.

yeah, some very creative but not tedious puzzles so far. This game is amazing.

I'll add that lots of first person games give me motion sickness as well, but none of the Metroid Prime titles ever have(unless you count Hunters). I was really worried that this one, with the new controls, would do it, but nope. I'm around 7-8 hours in, and I've had no problems yet. The controls did take me a bit of time to get used to(maybe an hour or two), but I'm fine with them now.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one getting that. This and TimeSplitters: FP are the only games that have ever made me feel sick.

Oddly enough, I just played some Timesplitters: FP and this game just a few hours ago.

i am loving this game. I just can't help myself but stop playing, because I know that I am almost halfway done, but I want this to laaaaaaaaaaaaast!!!

Whoa I just noticed how the 4 lights on top of Samus' visor was the Wiimote battery level hahah. Nice touch. It turned red because my batteries gave out on me.

I think I'm near the end now. I'm about 60% with 9 hours. So far my only complaints are that it doesn't have a variety in beams and theres no achievement/token/voucher list. I think the tokens are unbalanced too. I have something like 60 reds and after buying a bunch of stuff I don't think I'll ever use them up.

I got this game a few days ago. Haven't played much, but I am def liking it a lot! I am sure this has been asked earlier in this thread but it's too big of a thread to go looking for, so for that I am sorry!

When I put the disc in the first time, it asked me to update: What actually did this update do?

If you don't install it, the game won't run.

They probably did that so it didn't require constant scanning to unlock the stuff. I do nothing but scan and I, too, have a ton of reds but I would imagine many people won't get near that many. Yellows, and of course greens, are in too short a supply right now for me.

I just bought the Mii Bobblehead. I had no idea it went in the ship. Very nice ;).

Anyways, I need WAY more friend vouchers. If anyone sends one I'll send one back. I have both my game and my son's so we need lots (and also have lots to send but I need to get him to play some more). If anyone is left with extras they don't need I could take some more for my other boy. He will want that bobblehead if nothing else!

I just thought of something.
Since this game is console specific code, rather then individual Mii codes like in Mario Strikers, if I were to send a voucher your way.. would you AND your son get one? Or just you? Would it be whoever gets to the game first..? My friend is probably going to start a save file on my game.. I just don't want him getting all my vouchers, lmao!
