MGS4 Headed to Xbox 360

360 will for sure see a version of MGS4 later on.. why do people have such a problem with that?

Hmm... well some people are just being pricks about it... y'know, the whole "lawl now PS3 will die!!!!!!!?!?" crowd. That's annoying, so I think the people getting pissed off about MGS4 hitting the 360 are doing so in response to that.

Just pulling that out of my ass though... I don't care either way.

If Konami was Smart, which I'm sure they are, they'd announce MGS4 on 360 3-5 months after MGS4 hit PS3. That way 2 things happens:

#1 - PS3 sells more consoles, thus selling more copies of MGS4
#2 - You get to sell even more copies by bringing it the 360

Virtua Fighter 5 tanked really bad because it was announced beforehand that it was coming to both consoles. Learn from their mistakes Konami. Maximize profits.

Well, I really don't think you can blame VF5's sales on the multiplatform announcement. I really think it's the fact that there's no online play and that the game has a fairly narrow appeal.

I still can't believe people use the phrase "last nail in the PS3's coffin"

Since when were video game consoles put in coffins!?!? While I'm at it who even buries a console?

I dunno... the Dreamcast had it's last nail in the coffin back in 1999, it died in March 2001, and there's still games coming out so...

Well, the last few posts before yours... I haven't seen anyone complain about it really.

In fact, in this whole thread, it's a real minority who complain about it.
Most of of knew it was coming, and we just talked about how it would be different.

It's called a figure of speech and not to be taken LITERALLY.

Did you get that net installed above your head yet? Because things are just sailing over you.;)

Yeah, definitely not funny anymore.

i lolled a little bit.

so has this guy's post been debunked yet? or do we have to wait and see...

it sounds like the 360 version will be the inevitable rerelease, so it's probably a few years off.
so has this guy's post been debunked yet? or do we have to wait and see...
There is no bunking or debunking this shit, one way or another. And regardless of everything else, of course we're going to have to wait and see. What other recourse is there? Starting lots of rumors maybe? Look, people, it's really fucking simple: Either goddamn Metal Gear Solid 4 will come out on the goddamn 360, or it goddamn won't. Simple as that. fuckhats at Destructoid and in Sweden and on IGN and blah blah blah are inconsequential. It will or it won't. Sit tight, for fuck's sake.
Nah, it's still pretty funny. Tee hee!
No, it's old and fucking old and also old and retarded and not funny anymore, as well.

Why is MGS4 around 190 GB? I wonder how many of them AREN'T inconsequential Faux military blustering? *OH SNAP!*

I respectfully disagree.
It's an amusing picture.

You're shitting me.

It will or it won't come on the 360? I don't believe it.

The one thing I can't understand about all this is people saying they'd buy a PS3 for this one game.

There's no way I'd drop $600 on the strength of one game, and I'm not having a go at MGS4 or the PS3, I can't think of any game that was so good that I'd buy a console on the strength of that alone.

And I've been gaming for a lot of years.

Look, I think it's fucking stupid to deliberate about these shit claims from nonsense sources to no end whatsoever. It makes no effect on the eventual outcome of the situation, and that's the point I was trying to make. I was stating the obvious, because people seem to be overlooking it. No need to be a smartass about it, smartass.

What a little rumor does to people... !!!! man this thread makes people angry .

Stating the obvious and being redundant.. Konami is out there to make $$ so MGS4 on the 360 .... eh why not ?

Heee, let make a bet here. How many DVD does it take IF MSG4 do come out for the 360. My guess is 6 DVD LOL

I personally, wouldn't give a shit how many DVDs MGS 4 came on. It would save me $600 either way, "LULZ, 6 DVDz, PS3 OWNZ."
An added benefit to having MGS4 on 360 would be that with the live system, the multiplayer won't disappear in under a year.. Still bitter about subsitence, I loved the multiplayer, and it sucks that the servers were removed so soon. The joys of Sony online..
What exactly would prevent this from happening on Live? From what I understand, Live does not provide dedicated servers, and that the actual online gaming is similar to that of the PS2/PS3s (peer to peer, aside from some games that have developer hosted dedicated servers).

Well, on Live you would be able to host your own games and not have to worry about when Konami is going to turning MP servers off.

relax, relax. Just because you don't own PS3 you don't have to be so angry at me.

Does live not allow dedicated servers? I'm pretty sure some PS2/PS3 games are peer-to-peer, meaning Konami did have that choice to go peer-to-peer. They choose to host their own server, so what would stop them from hosting their own on XBL? Is it just because XBL doesn't allow dedicated servers?

If you have both, you're probably not going to wait for the 360 version anyways. Or you'll buy the PS3 version, sell it, then buy it again when the 360 version comes out. So, it'd only help those with only a 360 who are willing to wait.

Dedicated servers would cost Konami money, I don't know why they'd want to spend the cash when they could just have it be free. As far as I know, the only company with their own servers on Live is EA maybe, and even that I'm not sure of. And EA was only able to do that by striking a deal with MS, back when MS wanted them on Live so bad.

I didn't even realize that Sony had peer to peer online games. I wasn't impressed with any of the online PS2 games, so I've only played a handful.

Maybe I am wrong, I don't know. I just didn't think peer to peer was something that had to be 'offered' with something like PS2 online, as it is just PS2 consoles connecting to each other to host and play games. I could be wrong, and maybe all PS2 games were hosted on developer servers, but I just don't see what would be technically limiting the PS2 from doing p2p.

Everyone playing on Live is actually on the Live servers. It could have something to do with that.

Agreed, it's just not that funny after seeing it a hundred+ times. But I guess Sony fanboys got to have something to laugh about ever since E3 last year.
Everyone playing on Live is actually on the Live servers. It could have something to do with that.
What do the servers provide though, since the actual gaming is done directly through consoles using peer2peer?

Forgive me for asking so many questions, but I really don't know too much about the technical aspects of online services, and that information doesn't seem to be too available on the internet.

I imagine MGS4 could be done on two discs, one(maybe two) for SP and one for Online, like subsistence was.

Or alternatively release the online segment on XBLM free for purchasers of the game, and only have the single player portion on the disc..

It's actually "p2p2p" -- all gameplay is routed through Live servers. That's what creates the stable environment that cuts down on lag, eliminates most hacks, and generally does everything that Live implements across the board.

Most of it is pretty simple, but you can get the basics from: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/xbox-live.htm

I'm no fanboy but I've never wanted a game to be exclusive to one system. It only makes sense to produce a game for each of the available systems to broaden sales. This also makes it better for us consumers because the game will get price drops much sooner, in theory.
With the above being said, I'm especially glad PS3 is losing all its exclusive titles. This is not because I hate Sony. I have a PS1 and a PS2. The reason is Sony's price has moved it out of my reach. Even if it had a sudden $150 price drop, I, like many gamers, couldn't afford to pay $450 for it. Like many gamers, I want a game console to play games, nothing more and that is why I'm fine with my 360.
By the way, I don't remember seing any hate posts when Bethesda put Oblivion on PS3. Now everyone, except Wii users, can enjoy it.

Thanks for the site.

From this line:
"In its current configuration, most Xbox Live content is routed through Microsoft's Xbox Live servers."

It makes it sound like just DLC is going through the servers, but they later talk about EA not being allowed to host their own games, which pretty much implies that the servers do serve a purpose for gaming. Guess I was wrong about Live. thanks again for the site.
Damn it, I don't want a 360 and PS3. But I so oh-so want those extra goodies in the 360 version.
I can't see those extra goodies being exclusive to 360. They are most likely referring to a Substance version of MGS4, which I can see coming out for both PS3/360.

They did it with every other MGS game: Substance, Subsistance, Twin Snakes. I'd imagine that they'd do the same for what looks to be the last one, if what Kojima hinted at was correct. However, that would mean that the game with the extra features is coming at a later date and that means once again I'm going to have to wait and try avoiding all spoilers when it comes out.
