Microsoft E3 Press Conference 11:30 EST Stream it LIVE!
I thought the conference was O.K.

Not enough surprises, and it was awkward in a few spots.
Thought the same. The highlights for me has to be Assasins Creed , Rock Band , Halo Song , Re5 trailer & umm.. I think thats about it. No real news I just hope Gow content comes to marketplace.

Anyone else getting the impression that the 360: "Finish the Fight" edition wants us to finish the fight on the toilet?

I thought this press conference was TERRIBLE!!!

#1 - Bringing EVERYONE up for a demo sucked
#2 - The 360 logo after EVERYTHING was unnecessary
#3 - Instead of the 4th core, the 4th SKU

Cool parts
- Resident Evil 5 (BAR NONE, #1 thing about that conference)
- COD4 (I had no interest before, and now, I WANT IT!)

Halo 3 single player footage was too little, too late for that console

4/10 from me. And my expectations were pretty low to begin with.
Why is everyone hating on the conference?

I thought it was pretty solid, and like someone said, awkward at some points, but overall solid. Not as good as some of the years prior, but still, you can't win them all. I'm very excited for this Holiday, especially for the XBLA
Because people were expecting Microsoft to announce a $200 Xbox 360 Premium system, and about 5 unannounced, blockbuster games. They had unrealistic expectations, and if they think Sony and Nintendo are going to meet them, they are gonna be just as disappointed tommorrow as they are tonight.
wasn't bad - just no surprises, and 99% 2007 content. Which is fine, because we have 6 months still to enjoy this year, right? (counting what's left of july).

Where's the free xbla game in honor of E3?? :)

snap! getting sonic and Blue Dragon demo...
I was hoping sonic and golden axe would be free, at least for tonight.
And would you take Lair over BioShock, Mass Effect, or Halo 3? Do you honestly think Killzone 2, which has been shown 1 time in the last year+, is going to make it to 2007? And even if it does, the original Killzone sucked ass, why everyone is so excited about it, simply because of A CGI TRAILER, is beyond me.
I'd take Uncharted over BioShock and Mass Effect...not Halo 3 though.

Just my humble opinion.

So I did made the right choice and fortold the future by buying a high end laptop as a replacement for a Xbox 360. Lost Planet and Gears of War out for the PC (Vista). I feel much better knowing my laptop will last ages against a Xbox 360.

PS: Would someone be able to make a morphing Xbox 360 logo to a PC one?
Shit! They should have announced that and I would have said, fuck the press conference. Thanks for the info, downloading it now.
They did announce it during the press conference.

Nintendo will meet them.

Yep. I didn't catch footage until a half hour after it started (missed mass effect, fucking a) but I thought it was a great show.

Touche, I am a huge "Shock" series fan so God no. I'm obssessed with System Shock 1 & 2 and cannot wait for Bioshock so touche. Mass Effect I have been avoiding to read about since I want to be suprised when I play it so no. Halo 3 I could give two shits about, I'm a half life guy :) Out the of PS3 stuff I am pretty excited for Ratchet, Lair, and Uncharted though, Killzone 2 looks pretty in that screenshot but we shall see.

There's a 400 meg Mass Effect trailer up on the marketplace.

EDIT: my bad, about 70 megs. The Too Human trailer is 400.

Of course they do. They want to protect their investment, and ensure that they don't feel the pressure to buy a 360 *and* PS3. MGS4 going multiplatform would help immensely with that, and a price drop to counter the PS3's recent drop would have helped their console sales advantage.

Instead, we saw games that, with few exceptions, are going to be on all systems. You don't put that stuff out in the forefront the way MS did.

I'm not going to get into a battle of which company has the better exclusives. The fact of the matter is that E3 keynotes typically deliver surprises and/or good (new) news. This did nothing except state things, save for "Scene It," we already knew. The keynote is supposed to please 360 owners with their purchase (which it may have done), and inspire people who don't own one yet to do so. I think it failed miserably in making a claim for why they are a superior platform over the Wii and PS3.

WTF No specs on the BUTT FUGLY HALO 3 special edition console. Its unnecessary and ugly! And no price drop!! WTF THAt was necessary. fuck MS. YOU GREEDY BASTARDS!!! No new exclusives exept resident Evil 5. whoopie. Thats not that big...MS screwed up this year!!

If you are a half life guy you should be excited about HL:OB on 360, i mean i cant wait to school you on team fortress

I don't think RE5 is an exclusive. The trailer was just captured from a 360, or something.

I needed shock value or something that screams XBOX360 and nothing did it for me in the entire press conference. IT failed to whoo me. WTF I should have bought a ps3 at the same price as an elite now. The elite is reduced to nothing special without a price drop. I should return that shit right away.
Nintendo will meet them.
I think they will as well. I'm expecting absolutely nothing from the third parties, since most of the Wii's third party games (and the Gamecube's for that matter) are garbage.

Like someone else said though, new footage of Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to get mucho applause from the crowd. The first party stuff is going to be very strong, with titles like the aforementioned SSBB, Super Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3; it's just a matter of third parties starting to create compelling content on the console.

I'm expecting a good show from Nintendo, and I'm oddly hoping Sony has a good show too, just because they could really use one, and the recent price drop has made me really want one. :p

Wasn't so horrible I guess overall. The montages were kinda lame.

The cag chat was the best part though :)

biggest surprise, unannounced game was.......

...

Hexic 2?

Not complaining, i'll DL it as soon as it's up, but you know...

Did anyone else find the AI in AC lackluster? They were just standing there to get beat up. Hopefully its not like that in the final build.

I wasn't surprised; it looked pretty similar to the battle system in their Prince of Persia games. I still think it looks fantastic though. Linearity is one of the few knocks I have against PoP, and it looks like they've dealt with that admirably in AC.

Then go do it.

I'm fucking of hearing posters go "LOL I'm so much closer to getting a PS3 now, or OMFG no price drop? Not getting one"

No one cares.

You are a moron. Blue Dragon, Lost Odessey and Eternal Sonata are all exclusives. I think Ace Combat 6 is one as well. Splinter Cell Conviction will be exclusive also. Drink bleach and make the world a better place. ;)

Dude, WE ALL KNEW ABOUT THAT SHIT ALREADY. Old NEWS! i dont see one thing there you mentioned to be amazing or a must buy. Splinter cell will be a timed exclusive once again. So what..

Well, there's a lot of E3 stuff up on the marketplace now include the E3 themes/picture packs (Some cost points). Blue Dragon demo a week ahead of schedule as expected by me.

But yeah, that conference had nothing for 08.

Also, Mass Effect in November if you didn't pick up on it.

Eternal Sonata is exclusive for now
who cares about RE5. NOT ME. NOT WHY I bought a 360!!!
The two people in the world who don't care about RE5 on 360 should get in a head-on collision.
Eternal Sonata is exclusive for now
I think I read that Ace Combat 6 is a timed exclusive too. I don't even know if Sakaguchi has a big grudge against Sony anymore now that Kutaragi is gone.

I am trying to download the Blue Dragon demo, but it just gave me the 'you can't download 'game x' demo' message. A lot of people must want it.

No surprises except RE5 vid, but I don't really care. There are lots of good games coming out over the next 5 months. That's good enough for me.

Random musings - I wonder if MS intentionally gave a low key press conference - either because they interpreted the scaling back of E3 to lend itself to such, or their marketing gurus have found some evidence that suggests gradual releases of information are more effective than concentrating everything into a keynote at a major event. I also wonder if the quality of their presentation had anything to do with their electing(? or was it chosen for them?) to go first.

Either way, events like these can do no MS/Sony no harm. Most everyone who is the type of person to follow E3 coverage will have already purchased a 360 or a Wii by this point (this excludes CAGs who have the patience to wait for price drops, we are a minority). Sony is the only one that really has to unleash some razzle dazzle to win some people over, imo.

I for one love party games, good online party games, will put viva pinyata on my list on gamefly.

For all you depressed 360 whiners out there, what did you expect? If there would be anything new to anounce, in the age of the internets we would have heard rumorss of something by now. Im happy with the new games that they are coming out with (especially XBLA every extend extra for the win!!!). Everyone who is saying im going to sell my 360, i say to you good riddance, one less bitchass on xbox live.

A few of my initial reactions:

1. There is a special section in hell reserved for the G4 person who thought it was a good idea to show the Disney announcement in its entirety but cut the Halo 3 trailer short.

2. The games shown were, for the most part, really good looking. The lighting in Call of Duty 4 sent shivers down my spine. PGR4 (at least the part I saw before G4 went to commercial) was phenominal. Assassin's Creed, even accepting the framerate problems, blew my mind. Seeing Jerusalem in it's medieval glory was a sight to behold.

3. It's nice to see that Ubisoft was able to integrate historically accurate floating bodies ;)

4. I remember a little while back someone at Bungie said our reaction to seeing the single player campaign in Halo 3 would be "Gears of what?" I bet CliffyB had a laugh at that after seeing that trailer. It was unimpressive to say the least, and looked all the worse for being shown right after AC. But hey, the hype machine says it'll be the best looking game ever, so who am I to argue?

5. The new XBLA titles look nice. And we get Marathon at last.

6. Oh goody. One more SKU. But at least the RROD will look festive with the green of the case.

7. Why was half of the show taken up by demos that are better done on the conference floor? Perhaps a distinct lack of 08 content?

8. Peter, you're in charge of a videogame division in one of the largest corporations in the world. You should at least know how to unpause a game.

Yeah i dont think E3 was all that much exciting, i got my hopes up right before the RE5 trailer but got kinda sad. The moment i saw it i knew it was RE5 and thats the problem....i already knew RE5 was coming to 360. Good to see some video of it though dont get me wrong(still #1 part of the show to me)

Other than that, seeing gameplay footage and getting some release dates was it. No new announced games, which i guess isnt a big deal but its what used to seperate E3 from other game shows as THE show to watch each year.

I was looking forward to CoD4 but i think it jumped up into the top 5 games of the holiday for me after that gameplay footage.

Assasins Creed looks good. I found the commentary from the girl funny because the guy playing did things kind of randomly at times it seems. "I'm glad nobody saw that" made me laugh and she also made another comment when he killed the guy who pretty much floated in the air afterward that made me laugh too. It was almost like she was thinking, "hmm we better fix that when we get back".

I got mad when i heard new controlller. I was like please please not a wiimote rip off.....then found out 4 of them come with the game...thats a pretty good deal for $60.

Lost Oddessy trailer was the one trailer that made me want a game i had not looked into before the show.

Mad that gears is gonna have 5 more, 5 MORE chapters + more achievements on PC. I might have to get it...i can use my pc on my HDTV via DVI and use my 360 controller anyway.

I dont think they did a bad job of showcasing exclusive games. The two multiplatform games they pumped the most are GTA IV and Madden 08. These two titles will sell more than most of your exclusive games combined so i think its important you try to make people buy your version. Stressing episodic content and madden being twice the speed were key.

Naruto, Splinter Cell, Ace Combat 6, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, Lost Oddessy, Bioshock, Halo 3

I think the 360 has a very decent lineup of exclusive titles this holiday season. Ill probably end up getting all of those except for ace combat 5 since its not my type of game.

those are my thoughts/comments on the 360 e3 event

edit: oh wait! Last but not least....its about damn time tetris came to xbla!

I left my console queued up for the Blue Dragon demo and some trailers since all the live video coverage was shit. Hopefully it's all ready and waiting for me when I wake up tomorrow.

As for the conference, it wasn't a failue but it certainly wasn't great either. Absolutely nothing we haven't seen before except some XBLA titles. I admire the balls it takes to focus your conference on stuff the consumers can play soon, but just like anybody, I like getting excited about stuff I won't be able to play for a long time as well. I was at least hoping for some more info on Fable 2 and Alan Wake which I think is rather ridiculous that neither was shown. Hopefully they will be during the course of the E3.
