I received an email from the Microsoft store for labor day to save $50 off any item $100 or greater.

Was able to preorder Microsoft Kinect for $99.99+tax with free shipping after the unique email coupon code.

I just got an e-mail from them, saying they didn't offer anything (see below for the actual e-mail), so I e-mailed them right back telling them that it was right on the website, and that they were offering 3 extra levels and a helicopter prop for your avatar. I got an e-mail back about 2 minutes later, saying the same thing, except that now they could "no longer assist me in this manner".

Does anyone have a screen-capture, or a print-out they could scan? I'll check around myself, but don't think I do. I checked the Google Cache, but it seems to be too new to have the pre-order information on there.

Hello Robert,

Thank you for taking the time to email us at the Microsoft Store.

I understand that you would like to receive a special promotional code as part of your purchase for Kinect from Microsoft Store. I will gladly provide you with further information regarding promotions at Microsoft Store.

Robert, the promotion that you are inquiring about was not offered through Microsoft Store. With a purchase of Kinect, it came with Kinect Adventure. However we did not offer any bonus content. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that this may cause.

I am pleased that you have contacted us for assistance. If you would like further clarification, feel free to reply to this email. You can also reach us by phone at 1-877-MY-MS-STORE (696-7786) Monday-Friday, 8am-1am EST; 12pm-8pm EST on weekends. Referring to the SRX number in the subject line of this email will expedite your concern.

Have a great day,

Graeme D.

The guys who service this are awful. Back when this was live, I had tried to order this with the promotion and the customer service rep said that they can no longer offer the discount because they reached the max amount of promotions they were able to offer.. It almost seems like they just don't care and aren't willing to try and help you out.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing this promoted in an email from Xbox Live (or other sources), meaning it didn't specify what retailers would have this.

You could probably use this to argue with them if anyone has such an email... I will go through my email to see if I have any.

edit: I found an email dated July 20 with subject title "Get the Kinect for Xbox 360 that's right for YOU." that has the pre-order bonus information. Unfortunately, the link that points to xbox.com no longer works.

Shoot! Thanks for reminding me of the code. I rec'd my Kinect from the MS store also and see about my preorder bonus.

So I called the MS store and was instructed to call XBOX. After an hour, I got nowhere. I spoke to about 7 people from different departments regarding my code. I finally gave up when one of the level 2 reps decided he wanted to tranfer me back to the original department I initially spoke with. He aslo suggested I speak with the MS store.

Screw it, I decided to go to GS and ask them what the deal was with these codes. He Looked it up and and was nice enough to give me a printout with the preorder code.

There's another email from September 30 called "Get a sneak peek behind the scenes of Kinect" which has the same information, but the link there is broken too.

I haven't heard back from Xbox Support yet, but even if we don't get codes out of this, we did all get $50 off for nothing. So there's that.

Wait, what? Where did you see your code? Did you get the standalone Kinect and not the bundle with the Xbox?

Also, my Kinect unit didn't have the associated sticker that says, do not sell before November 4th, like the retail units have. That might be the reason why they don't have the code in the package.

How did you code arrive? Did you get the standalone Kinect unit or the 4GB console bundle?

I admit I got impatient and nabbed a code on eBay for five bucks (there are a lot of codes up there but most of them cost more than that, which is stupid). If I get an extra code from Xbox Support, I'll gladly sell it to one of you guys for the same price.

I'm still up $45 from retail so I don't feel too bad about it.

I'll buy it if so. I don't want to pay $150 for a device like that. That's kinda ridiculous when the number of games for it that I care about can be counted in one hand.

Shame that I missed this, especially due to loss of internet connection. $100-$105 is pretty much the price that I'd buy it for sure for without much regrets. $120-130 = Some regrets, and $150 = never...

I think you misinterpreted me. I'm not selling my Kinect, I've played it and I enjoy it. I meant that if I get another pre-order code for Kinect Adventures, I'd sell THAT, since I already bought one off eBay.

Also, it turns out that the pre-order card actually had two codes, one for the extra Kinect Adventures levels, one for the avatar helicopter prop.

Sorry man... I meant to write "and see about my preorder bonus." I did not rec'v jack from them! I called the MS store a few hours ago. They directed me to XBOX. XBOX, of course, did not know what dept to transfer me to. To make a long story short, I was on hold and transferred to various depts and reps for over 1 hour. In the end, no one was able to furnish a code.

At lunch, I walked over to GS and they were nice enough to provide me with a code on a printout (regular receipt).

Do you know someone that works there or did you buy something? I am just trying to figure out how to approach that situation as I also didn't get one from my microsoft store purchase.

I want to know also..

No. I actually went in to return a game. The same $44.00 preowned game was on sale for $19.00 brand new online. Anyway, I asked him about what was up with people not receiving their codes for preordering Kinect. He looked it up and offered me a code. You might want to try, if there is a GS in your area.

Edit: You might want to explain your situation to them and ask if they, by chance, have any extra ones in the system...
