Am I the only one kind of upset with these online only waves?

I personally like to inspect my MM before I buy it and I am very anal and will pass one up if the paint is chipped as to where I will see it when I glance at it.

Either way, the Scout Trooper looks AWESOME.

one of the targets near me had a shipment come in recently, i guess, picked up today:
2x commander cody
2x captain rex
2x biggs
2x c3po
2x shock trooper
2x snowtrooper
1x bossk

also saw but passed on asajj, dooku, vader v2, hoth han, anakin, captain rex and obi wan. should i have passed on any of these?

i'm very nervous that the "online exclusives" spell the end of the line for mighty muggs.

the current star wars figures are target exclusive. maybe because no other retailers ordered them? and now, the next two waves look to be online exclusive, again, because nobody else wanted to carry them? and if places like walmart and toys r us don't carry your toys, it becomes really hard for a toy line to stay financially worthwhile for a company.

but looking at the way things have been going... it makes sense. after the next wave of marvel, we've not seen anything. destro and baroness are hitting stores now, but there's been no sense of anymore joe characters beyond that. indy muggs were canceled a long time ago because the line couldn't hold past the movie's release. and wave 3 of transformers were considered "canceled" by entertainment earth even before the first wave was released.

perhaps nothing is planned, and things are being canceled... because hasbro has no desire to continue. or rather, retailers have no desire to order more.

hate to bring the mood down, but as someone who's been down this road before... online exclusives seem like the beginning of the end. a final attempt for hasbro to cut its losses.

I like the characters in the exclusives but not enough to pay $5 extra for them, I mean come on. Look at the Red Skull and Thanos, no Luger for RS or gauntlet for Thanos??? I think it would be better off to have them like the punisher one or iron man, limited amounts in a certain store or in the comic cons.

Your seemingly correct logic makes me frown.

It says that they're all from the OT and aren't variants... Greedo in there maybe? Sandtrooper? Tusken Raider? LOBOT? ... Nien Nunb?

Let speculation begin! I guess there's also a chance it's a whole wave of various troopers.

If that scout trooper figure has a visor I'm going to pick that guy up.

The lack of new MM's could also stem from the fact that there isn't much expandability in the line, outside of adding new licenses. Most toys thrive off the need to buy the "next cool thing," for example GI Joes have vehicles, or bases, etc. Action figures have pieces of other figures with them that compel individuals to buy the complete set.

Mighty Muggs really don't have that, aside from the hole in one of their feet (someone should customize a vehicle and give Hasbro an idea). Not to mention the shelf space dedicated to MM's is negligible at most stores I go to.

This tends to indicate it's a niche product ... the only benefit I see to the online-exclusive lines is that it guarantees the potential for additional value if you collect them or plan to sell them someday. Other than that, I would agree it's probably bad for their longevity as a product.
i actually have a somewhat noble cause for mine. at least, it started that way...

i've got a 9-month-old son, and i started buying the star wars muggs because they're somewhat more kid friendly. big and chunky. not many small parts. i'm actually buying the mighty muggs for him. and the plan is to use them to help introduce him to star wars, marvel, etc... and eventually pass them on.
A really awesome way to get your son into SW is the Lego SW games. That is how I got my son hooked on SW when he was 4 years old. Yesterday, he turned six and guess what his theme was? That's right, a Star Wars party. The only thing that was off was his birthday cake because it had Luigi on it (which is still cool, imo).

Anyways, after the party I stopped by Target to pick up some DiGiorno's pizza/Coke (BTW, thanks for that LinkinPrime) and I found a C-3PO. We have been looking for that MM for a while. It was a nice extra b-day present for my son.

That Scout Trooper looks awesome but DocRamon's foreboding post is not good news at all. Target's "temporary price cut" on MMs is a bit more telling now. I hope not.

Every time I think I'm done getting more Muggs I run into some new ones in the store that I just can't pass up. Here is my find from last weekend

P1010002.jpg

and yukafls to answer your question about the gamorrean guard, there is one of those mini pics on the back of the teebo box. I'm also really excited they are finally doing an Alex Guinness Obi-wan.

again, sorry for the downer last night...

i'm not totally counting them out yet. hasbro could fully intend to continue with these online releases for a long time still. that would be a great way for us all to see characters that the 'big box' stores wouldn't want to carry. and perhaps hasbro is waiting to wow us at toyfair or sdcc or something, and that's why the news has been lacking lately.

i'm just saying that, for the longevity of the line, the online exclusive route seems dangerous. and a lot of the recent questions (target exclusive wave? transformers wave canceled? why have we not heard of this mugg until is showed up in stores?) make sense when you think about the sad fact that muggs might be done.

that said, i'm still buying them all and supporting the mugg line until it's officially gone. and i have every online exclusive pre-ordered. and i still need destro and baroness.

Ah, ok I wasnt sure. Nice Portal cube in the background :)
Any idea if the Hasbro Shop will get the SDCC Iron Man back in stock?
No clue... probably just random early mornings like... 4-6am.

I really wouldn't count on getting SDCC Iron Man through HasbroToyShop. They rarely come in stock, and it's usually not much at all. My guess is they're the ones that got sent away for AFA grading, but weren't worthy of the 9.0 rating.

They had The Baroness, Destro, and Storm Shadow all at Target. I really dont care to get The Baroness, the only reason I want her is to complete my GI Joe collection. Plus I still am yet to find a good Storm Shadow. Every single one I have found has some very noticeable scratch or marks on them. Plus its very noticeable on the extreme white. I did however pick up Destro and am very happy with him, he looks 10x better than what I was expecting for some reason.

They however had a beyond terrible selection of Marvel and Star Wars MM.

I can say the same thing about my local Targets. The newest Mugg they had was Palpatine of the Star Wars line. :bomb: However, I finally snagged a Jigsaw from my local TRU. They also had a Punisher, but I'd already ordered that from the website a few days back.. -.-

thePhildown, I'm from Olympia too. I'm hoping to get a Shock Trooper and a Snow Trooper, but sadly the Targets haven't gotten them. If you ever here of the Targets getting them, you should shoot me a PM. I checkde like twice at both the Olympia and Lacey targets last week. All they ever have are a ton of Plo Koons.

Bah, I give up on trying to find Punisher and Jigsaw. I could have bought 3 of each Mugg with the gas money I've spent driving around.
So if anyone spots these 2 bastard Muggs around, I'll happily pay you for your time.

Hey, I have an extra punisher and jigsaw. PMed

Found Snowtrooper, Commander Cody, and the usual star wars ones at the local target.

Found a bunch of Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes from the GI Joe line. Also spotted a Duke & Cobra Commander. No Destro though. Sigh.

Also saw a Galactus for the first time ever.

Can anyone clue me in on which ones are the rare ones? I know the Comic Con Iron Man is rare, but what else?

Not that many are rare anymore ... they seem to be rare on a regional basis ... I would say the older SWs Muggs are getting rare ... one's like C3PO & Leia ... but Boba Fett and Vader V1 used to be rare ... until I just recently started seeing them on shelves again (at least both Fetts). Classic iron man used to be rare until he was recently re-released. Venom is still somewhat rare, although people are saying they've seen a re-issue of him as well. In the Indiana Jones line, I firmly believe Henry Jones Sr. is rare, only because I never ever saw one ... the monkey guy is kind of rare too, but not the same degree. None of the Joes are rare ... but Snake Eyes is the hardest to find. The rarest ones are the online exclusives like Short Round, Adm. Ackbar, etc ... only because they weren't sold in stores or at a convention ... That's my take on rare muggs, I'm sure others will add to or refute some of the muggs' rarity I listed ...

I'll definitely give you a shout if I ever come across the new batch. Anything else you're looking for besides the new Star Wars ones?

what is the old school ironman everyone keeps talking about?
the flat faced square eyes one? lol
i see that thing around a lot

no vaders/fetts for me though!

the Phildown, I'm only collecting Star Wars. NOt a big fan of the other lines. With Star Wars I'm mainly into Empire and Sith stuff. I'd like to get all the trooper variations (Clone/Storm, etc). I only have Captain Rex, Shadow Storm Trooper, and a Storm Trooper now.

my transformers set just arrived from BBTS... great that we got these muggs, but i'm a big fan of the facial expressions on my figures. for instance, i love the look on storm shadow's face. it's hard to get a good facial expression from a robot. but still, the muggs are solid additions. it's hard to pick a winner or loser in the bunch.

Mine don't get here till Wednesday...I can't wait :whee:

would u mind posting pics?:)

i picked up my symbiote spiderman today :bouncy:
I can't find a Yoda or Grievous for the life of me, so I'd say those are pretty rare. I'm hoping for a re-release.
Ditto, I remember spotting multiple ones last year when I wasnt really collecting them. I am kicking myself in the a$$ now though! hah

Those Transformer Muggs look awesome.

Dammit! None of the two targets in my area have even put the new ones out! I'm getting really anxious about finding these.

I know this has probably been asked 1000 times but which muggs are rare? I only really collect what I like but say i see one i like i kinda want to know should i grab it or is it one that is everywhere like Duke. for example I've been on the hunt for a doctor doom is this one getting rare?

As for doctor doom...I've found three, but not at the same stores. Two in phoenix, and one on the way to Cali. From previous posts mostly Jigsaw and Venom are rare and hard to found. I'm a huge Doctor Doom fan and even gave my son the last find. Its funny a one year old just loves his mighty muggs.

Rarity is somewhat location-dependent. Leia, Yoda, and Venom are fairly universally rare..."exclusives" can be rare, due to the limited number of stores they're released in (only exclusives are Jigsaw and Punisher at Toys R Us, and a bunch at Target...and then there's "online only" waves...).

Also of note - the new Marvel wave is up for pre-order on HasbroToyShop, along with the new GI Joe muggs (Destro and Baroness). Everything has an estimated shipping date of March 9.

Finally, Walmart.com has a lot of muggs on clearance - many for under 8. Shipping for most can be free using site-to-store, or only 97 cents. Might be worth checking out to get extras for customs or to fill some holes in a collection.
I've been on the hunt for a doctor doom is this one getting rare?
he's on clearance right now at walmart.com for like $7.

I am a poor college student without a credit card. I really want to nab at least Doom and Hulk for those low prices. I have seen Asajj and Dooku at Walmarts here and I doubt I can, but if I find them at the store, I doubt the price will reflect there, but could I have them look up the site and match their own site?

probably not... walmarts don't use a universal pricing system. so the items on clearance vary from store to store. this includes their website. just because a figure is 'on clearance' online, it might (and likely will) be regular price in-store. stores can't adjust prices to match that of their website or even their other local stores. just not how walmart works. it's kinda lame, but target's the same way.

so if you want the clearance prices, you pretty much have to order online.
