I'm Jailbait, Temp.
Plume, you're my heir apparent for the "CAG crotchey old fucker award", y'know. :D

Sage advice, people. You should be listening to this, Temp.

Hell, I picked out my engagement ring in about 10 minutes, since I was lucky and found the right diamond and the right ring right off the bat. Sometimes, you get lucky like that. Plus, it's certified by two different organizations, so I know it's good. :D
Yeah, but how much did you pay for that shit? I refuse to pay over $1000.
Yeah, but how much did you pay for that shit? I refuse to pay over $1000.
More than $1000. We'll leave it at that.

And you can end up with some great deals online, though you won't know what you're getting until you see it in person.

The higher quality the stone, such as color and clarifty, the more it's going to cost for the same size stone in carats for a lesser stone.

You could always find some nice rings with non-diamond stones in it, if you're not fixed on a diamond.
that's also more than double the price of what he had posted. the one he posted was, and looked, cheap. the second was much nicer.
For both the engagement ring and the wedding band. I can't remember what the ring itself was, but I want to say I found it on sale in the $600-700 range. You can find nice stuff at a very reasonable cost, you just have to shop around a bit. So maybe the ring he found wasn't up to snuff in looks, but the price definitely shouldn't matter.

*HE* may not be fixed on a diamond...

My wife wanted a 1/4 at most. I got lucky and scored a ring for $200. It appraised out at nearly $900.

It all depends on what your lady wants. Non-latex gloves + big ring = Oh shit.

i never said it needs to be a rock of epic proportions. that ring looked horrible. it looked cheap. it looked like it wasn't even worth the money he would potentially spend on it. for slightly more money you can get a much nicer (and by that i mean aesthetically pleasing, not larger) ring.

Just got back from a friend's birthday. We busted out an old N64 and played Starfox.

The game is just as amazing as I remember it being, but it got a hell of a lot easier than it was when I was seven years old.
Gotta be a diamond. Though, since this is frustrating me, I may just use a turd instead of a stone.
Piece of coal, with a note saying "Wait 1 million years for the diamond"? :D

If you're hunting for a diamond, you really need to look at it in person to see what you're going to get. Some stones look better than their specs would say, other ones look worse. Same goes for the setting, as well as the ring itself.

Ok, new question, is it easy to tell the difference between glass and diamonds?

the glove issue also depends on the stone's cut and setting. prong settings suck for gloves, regardless of the size of the stone. bevel set etc are much better with gloves.
Gloves? Huh?
medical field. only jewelry health department lets you wear are wedding ring and engagement ring for reasons like staph infections etc.
