Thought I'd go ahead and create a topic for Minnesota. As usual, be sure to include specific info such as the store's location when posting a deal (and of course, information about the deal itself). Enjoy! :)

?Thanks for the heads up on half price books guys. I went to the Maplewood location and was kind of disappointed in there selection of games. They only had one small shelf for console games and the rest was PC games. I did manage to get Contra Shattered Soldier for $4.98 and a factory sealed Guitar Hero III for the Wii for $7.98. Good deals, I will try the Coon Rapids one next week, I work in Fridley. Also the Mega Xchange store re-located in Maplewood and they had a bunch of games, I got Shadow of Rome for $4.99 a few weeks ago. Another store that I liked was Schnider's in Roseville. Though they got evicted and I found another one in Maplwood, but they did not have as much stuff. I did notice they had an Adult Section, but some old lady was with her kids looking at baseball cards next to it. I waited for 15 minutes for them to leave until my wife called and told me to come home. I will try Burnsville sometime, I need to get to know the sub burbs of the twin cities.

What, and where, is Mega Xchange? I don't get out to Maplewood as much as I used to but I might have to check that place out.

They actually have them around the Twin Cities. Maplewood, Roseville are the only two I know. If you look above my post whiptcracker has other locations. I checked there website and there store locations is not updated at all. Maplewood is by far the biggest one of the two.

Coon Rapids has a location as well near where the Shinders used to be by Northtown. They have a TON of older games there. Like NES stuff.
Any one see any Guitar Hero Aerosmith at EB/gamespots ?
I want to use that %25 off Coupon going around!
$60 was to high for my blood
pm'd ya! I'll sell you mine.

Anyone seen any 80gb mgs ps3 bundles around the cities? I'm about to try and get 1 but if anyone's seen them LMK. TIA

Not to mention eBay prices too. I've stopped going to the now named Media Xchange since a good chunk of their prices are not far off from what the same product sells for new at BBY/CC/etc.

Don't expect any major finds at the Coon Rapids location at least for games. Most of the stuff is older sports titles, Disney shovelware, and that XBox music program.... and an "sealed" copy of SMB3 NES for the all low price of $99.99.

I have done well at the Coon Rapids location however in regards to used CDs/DVDs. Of course if you got the patience to browse around ignorant sheeple drinking overpriced coffee while yapping on their cellphones about their one night affairs, an fat woman laying across on the floor taking her sweet bejesus time browsing through the $1 clearance CDs, snotty brat kids running all over the place, people who need to look at every single CD and DVD on the shelft literaly, people who need to haggle over an $4.99 used CD, people upset that HPB doesn't have the latest whatever DVD/CD/etc already in used, etc etc etc.... then you might be able to find an deal or two.

For the record.... I witnessed ALL of that my last time there all within ten minutes.

Thanks for the heads up, I may pass that. Some guy at work was telling me that there was a used cd/video store called Cheapo's or something in Fridley off of 694 and Central Ave by Menards. Anyone here of it? I will try to check it out, I just am usually too tired on Mondays when I get off of work (leave home at 3:45 am and get off of work at 6pm) Not to mention on Monday some retard smashed beams on the Stillwater bridge and I had to drive to the Osceola bridge, that sucked....fucking retard.

Burnsville Best Buy had a couple copies of MotoGP '07 for the 360 for $10. I didn't bite, not a huge racing game fan, especially with motorcycles. Also, if you're even the slightest bit interested in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Pride Bushido 9 was on sale there for $4.99. That's a must have a $4.99, one of the best events in the history of MMA in my opinion. And its a two-disc set, that's about 4 hours of great MMA action. Sorry for the off-topic rant but that's a great, great deal.

Cheapo is alright... They way overcharge on anything new or that has been properly sorted, but if you dig through their new arrival bins you can find a few gems. I usually find better deals on used CDs from the Amazon Market place. On the other hand you can eat at LaCaseda as long as you are in the area (yum- expensive, but delicious mexican food).
If you are looking for some general crazyness (Not video game or electronics related) check out Ax-Man. Basically head North on central from 694. If I remember right-- It is just over the bridge in a stripmall. They are a surplus store and can have some interesting stuff.

Not an incredible deal or anything but the Apple Valley Best Buy has wired 360 Guitar Hero 2 controllers for $20. They work with Guitar Hero 3 also.

I haven't been to Cheapo in eons but have gotten a few CDs from them that are harder to find. I'll have to see how well they are doing one of these days.... can't be any worse than Media Xchange.

And yeah.... LaCaseda is great!
isn't it La Casita? Or maybe they are different Mexican restraunts
Nope, Cheapo is by La Casita.

Ditto on Demo's impressions of the Coon Rapids HPB.

And someone mentioned the Pirde Bushido 9 DVD, it is a great show if you're an MMA fan.

There are lots of the 360 VGA/Component HD cables at the Toys R Us in Blaine at $9.98, with the 20% off clearance they come down to $7.98 plus tax.

I checked out Cheapo's today and it was kind of lame. I've never been to a record store where it was so quiet. The staff did not even make notice that anyone was in the store. For music the place was alright, DVD prices where ok. I did notice that they had The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters for $27.98, no thanks. I also saw that Mexican place everyone was talking about.

Is this the one on Central? Yeah... been there too. Big store. No major find. Found better deals at Pawn American futher down on Central and 694 -- though kinda ghetto inside.

Yeah, thats the one I was at. If you really want to see ghetto, go check out the Target and Best Buy in Apple Valley. I wrote about it a few threads up.

Since everyone's been talking about my side of town I thought I'd mention, drive south on central to 40th. Star bar is there but right next door is a place called discount 70. Pretty much a thrift store but mostly target or other retailer items. Most stuff is open box or sealed. They have some games and quite a few gh bundles as well as some rock band. If willing to chance it they have 360 wireless controllers for like 15 bucks. they are by the checkout counter. Also the video games are in a case locked up. Most are so so deals. They ussually are an additional 20% off marked price. Had a new halo3 for like 25 a couple weeks ago. There are some finds there but don't get your hopes up. I grabbed rsv2 for 360 for 17 bucks 2 weeks ago.
How much are they charging for the Rock Band bundles?
can't remember for sure but anywhere from 80 and up it just depends. Very hit and miss and depends on 360 or ps3. Personally I wouldn't buy one there unless at the 80 ish price.

Very true. Especially with both GH and RB having new versions coming out later this year its hard to justify spending full retail on RB1.

Anyways....

I stopped by the Coon Rapids Half Price Books today and found a nice surprise. They have gotten in some factory sealed HD-DVDs that are obviously from Canada since they are dual English/French covers. Titles are between $8-10. From what I saw so far they have mostly Universal titles such as:

-The Mummy (1999)
-Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift
-Bourne Ultimatium
-Breakfast Club

I picked up The Mummy which is $8. An employee admitted that they might be getting more in soon as well. So for anyone looking for cheap HD-DVDs in the Twin Cities area check out Half Price Books. Never know what you might find.

Nice, I've still got the mailing list coupon to use as well. Thanks for the headsup.

Coon Rapids HPB also had some harder to find or import Dreamcast games as well. Maken X, Record of the Lodoss war, etc, thugh you'll probably find better prices on eBay

Has anyone been to/heard of the Universal games(?) on Penn and 66th in Bloomington? It's right by a Taco Bell and Burger King. It looked like more of a place to play games, like lan parties, but I didn't stop in.

Universe Games is more a table top game store. They have board games and CCGs. Not too bad a store if you like those things. They do have PCs for LAN parties and such but I don't remember seeing any video games for sale when I was there a few months ago.

Thanks Borenson. I used to be into HeroClix big time, but got out when things got confusing and they came out with a new set every few months.

No problem. I have played most of the collectable card and figure games and quite a few board games. Even worked in a comic book and collectable shop in college. Now all my "crack" money goes to video games.

I haven't heard "plastic crack" in quite some time. :D:applause:

That stuff can be lethal.

They also have an import copy of the first Sonic Adventure game.... not that it's worth much.

I went to the Best Buy in Edina. Besides being the worst laid out and most cramped Best Buy ever they also have a ton of games at 50% off. I didn't make a list but I do remeber seeing Nights, Conan, The Darkness and Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition all for $10 to $15 each.

anyone looking for a gamecube component cable the savage gamestop shows 1 in the inventory tracker. If you go to pick it up you will probably have to ask. Most likely they will say they don't have it. Make them check inventory on the computer. I've picked up several and all stores said they didn't have them, when they actually did. 4.99 used. They go for a good price on ebay. I sold 2 on here and 1 on CL for less than ebay prices but still good margin. I'd pick them up but they are 30+miles from me. Not worth it.

You do realize that this is one of their very first stores right??? Cut em some slack. Geez.

My friends and I call it the "Mini Buy". I did get my Garmin 205 with the $50 off coupon there so I can't totally complain about it. But it is quite small compared to all their other ones.

I was just joking around about the layout and such. That is one of the oldest Best Buys still operating. Its store number is 5 so it is impressive it is still there. You do have to admit though it is small and cramped but that does give it advantages. It is for that reason they have the big clearence selection right now. I went back yesterday and picked up Conan for the 360 for $10, well, $5 after a reward zone coupon. They have tons of stuff still marked down. It is all because they need to make room for new inventory.

Any CAG's in the Elk River area? I hear that Target is closing that store soon, and if its like any of the other store closings, everything gets clearanced out. If any CAG's are in the area, check it out. I do not want to drive there unless they are clearancing stuff out.

That store has been there since the mid 1970.. It was one of the original "new concept stores". Before Best Buy, they were called "Sound of Music". As with Ultimate Electronics used to be "Audio King".

Any of you guys remember Echo? Ya know, with those grating commercials on tv screaming, "ECHO ECHO Used DVDs and Games!!"

I don't think they know how to price their games. I don't think there's any uber-rare games there that they have. But they did price Skies of Arcadia (non-PC) at $15, and they priced Suikoden 3 at $40. So, clearly, their system hasn't been updated in a while. I only look for games I want, so I left their PS1/handheld games alone, but there may be some rarer titles for "cheap" if you've got time to spare, or you could possibly trade in some of your older games that are worthless...so long as they're Japanese-styled you should get a decent quote for them. (I got $9 for Y's which is pretty fair, considering that's what I paid for it on Ebay :X)

Just a heads up in case you're in the Northfield area and feeling lucky.

I found Dragon Quest Swords for the Wii on clearance at the Eagan Best Buy for $23.xx

Not the greatest deal I've ever seen, but its nearly half price -- I picked up a copy. They had 6 or 7 copies excluding the one I bought.

i don't know how but i got star wars force unleashed used at my local gamestop on ps3! i don't understand how they already had it used, i thought it didn't come out til the 16th?!
